#div/0! Error...doesnt Make Sense..

May 26, 2006

I am trying to track down why i get a #div/0 error...

i have a form that is a sales invoice. It also has a subform with in where the items being sold are entered.

in the subform i have on the footer a Sum([Selling price])
so that i have a total in the subform..

then i pull that total into the mainform using =[subform2].Form![TOTAL]

it all works great.... but if some one buys multiple items and one price is left at 0.... i get that div/0 displayed on my totals..??

see the attached image for a visual of what i am talking about...

Error: You Cannot Make Changes To The Design Of The Database At This Replica

Apr 14, 2007

I recently was asked to update a client's BE & FE database.

It seems the client only has a replicated version of the database. I don't have the original Design Master.

Problems with negative autonumbers (it seems are due to replication), made me want to remove all need for replication from the database sets.

I attempted to modify some of the Tables in the BE and keep receiving the same error when I try to save it:

ERROR: "You cannot make changes to the design of the database at this replica"

I haven't found a solution on the forum yet. Any ideas?

I found the Replication part of this Microsoft KB article somewhat helpful: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/275561/en-us

How To Make Validation Text Give Different Error Messages

Apr 13, 2006

In of my tables called Employee Payroll, I have several earnings fields, and in a previous post I mentioned that I have implemented a validation rule for them which is £2.50 or £2.75 or £3.10. I have also used an error message in Validation Text to help the user if they enter an invalid value.
How can I change this message to reflect what the user types in? For example, if they enter an erroneous value like £9.34, the error message would say, "You have entered an erroneous value" or if they type an extreme value like £3.40 or £0.01, the error message would say, "You have entered an extreme value".
I understand that I would need to state when the data becomes erroneous and when it becomes extreme- so I thought, anything above, £4.00 should be erroneous and any negative values too. Extreme data would be anything between £0.00 and £3.10.
Would I need to use some kind of code in VBA?
Thanks

Syntax Error In CONSTRAINT Clause In MAKE TABLE Query

Apr 6, 2008

Can anybody help me understand why I get the error
"Syntax error in CONSTRAINT clause"?

I get it in Access 2003 and Access 2007.
Both are clean installs with no add-ins

Running this code in VBA, or pasting the SQL directly in a query results in the same error.

Sub test()
sTableName = "Test"

sSQL = "CREATE TABLE " & sTableName & "_Config (" _
& "[idConfig] Int Primary Key," _
& "[Config] Memo," _
& "[Instrument] int," _
& "[Serial_No] Text(25)," _
& "[Firmware] int," _
& "[Orientation] int," _
& "[Sensors] int," _
& "[Sensor_Size] float," _
& "[Sensor_1_Distance] float)"

DoCmd.RunSQL sSQL

sSQL = "CREATE TABLE " & sTableName & "_Leader (" _
& "[idLeader] Int Primary Key," _
& "[idGroup] int," _
& "[idFile] int," _
& "[idConfig] int," _
& "[DateTime] DateTime," _
& "[Heading] float, [Pitch] float, [Roll] float," _
& "[Pressure] float, [Depth_BSL] float, [Height_ASB] float,"
_
& "[Min_Valid_Sensor] int, [Max_Valid_Sensor] int," _
& "[ASM_Bed_Level] float," _
& "CONSTRAINT [FK_Test_Leader_idConfig] FOREIGN KEY ([idConfig]) REFERENCES [Test_Config] ([idConfig]) ON DELETE CASCADE ON UPDATE CASCADE" _
& ")"

DoCmd.RunSQL sSQL

End Sub

The first table is created just fine.
And if I leave the constraint clause out, the second table is created also.
If I try to run it as an SQL query right in Access, after the error is delivered, it highlights the word DELETE, and if I reverse the update and delete portions, it highlights the word UPDATE.

I have looked up the clause in Access help and even using their example, i get the same error.

Any help will surely be appreciated!

Error When Opening Database - Cannot Access Data To Make Changes To Scripts

Feb 12, 2013

When I launch my Database file, it would normally run some scripts (I don't actually know what they do, the file is not used by me, only colleagues).

Instead i get this error:

The expression On Load you entered as the event property setting produced the following error: Object or class does not support the set of events.

When I click 'OK' another error appears:

The expression On Timer you entered as the even property setting produced the following error: Object or class does not support the set of events.

Once i click 'OK' on this error, another error sometimes occurs:

The expression MouseMove you entered as the even property setting produced the following error: Object or class does not support the set of events.

But strangely enough the third error doesn't occur every time i move the mouse.

After these errors have been closed, all i have is my 'form' with a loading bar. I cant access the actual database. Nor can i get into the Visual Basic to try and find the cause. This is happening to multiple clients of mine, and me personally.

Running Windows 7, Server 2008 (64bit), Windows 7 (64bit)
Running Access 2007 and Access 2010.

I have tried changing permissions on the file, this doesn't work.

General :: Cannot Open Database Error When Make Table Option Selected

Sep 28, 2012

I linked table rawdata from a database called competitor from a ODBC Database. I run a query with to make a table with a criteria where it retrieves roughly 10 columns with 719,000 rows. And it gives me this error.

(Cannot open database". It may not be a database that your application recognizes, or the file may be corrupt.

I asked the creator of the database and they said the database grows automatically and it was created with the same Access version as i am using to run the query.

Also when I do a RUN without creating a table and just selecting and displaying the data it does not give me any issues.

Column Names. Can I Make The Name Field "higher"? (to Make Room For More Lines)

Sep 25, 2006

I'm currently working with a form, which is in datasheet view. I have many rows which are combo boxes (yes/no), and the name is rather long. So each line (each row) spreads on to 2-3 pages to the right. What I would like to do is make the namebar, on top of every column, a little bit higher, so the name would be split into two lines, or three. Allowing me to make the width allot smaller. Here is an example of my problem:http://213.213.137.96/~terminal/columns.jpgSo my question is, can I change the height of the column name? Or is there some trick I can use?regardsFrímann Kjerúlf

Reserved Error (-1517); There Is No Message For This Error.

Mar 31, 2006

Does anybody know what this error message refers to?

"Reserved Error (-1517); there is no message for this error."

It just started happening today, and I haven't even made any changes to the database. It occurs when I hit a button I have to run a macro.

the macro does the following:
1) Shows all records
2) Requery
3) ApplyFilter.
The Where Condition for the filter is:
Right([tblContracts].[JobNum],4)=Right([Forms]![FrmContProc].[txtFindJobNum],4)

The weird thing is that it only occurs if the Form window is taller than 1/2 of my viewable area. If the Form window is 1/2 the viewable area or shorter, it works OK. This was running fine earlier today, but about 4:00 pm (03/31/06) this started happening.

If anybody knows what this error means, or how to get rid of it (I really need to use this window in full-screen) then please let me know.

-Thanks, Sean

Error 3341 Or Error 3022; Do Or Don't, I'm Damned.

Aug 3, 2006

Okay, I'm kind of stumped here.I have a subform that has a button that sends a user to a "sibling" subform on another tab page, pass some information to ensure they are adding more details to the same records rather than creating two separate record.First time I programmed it, I got an error 3022 (keys cannot have duplicate values). I checked the query of the sibling subform and saw that the ID is from the one side table. I changed it so many table's foreign key is used. Second try, I got an error 3341 (there isn't a matching key in one side table). After some thinking, it also occured to me that I had set the query this way to allow addition of new record which wouldn't be possible if I had the query pulling the many side key, not the one side key.How do I get the subform to accept the ID that is being passed and create a new record using that ID?

Error Handling - Enough To Put In On Error Event

Sep 24, 2005

Every form has an on error property.

Is it enough for error handling to code the on error property for each form?
With enough I mean error handling which lets you resume the program.

Ontherwise I have to code (or call a procedure) for each coded event which i wouldn't prefer

For instance now I'm putting error handling in each event but would consider it more efficient if it can be placed once in each form
Private Sub cmdReport_Click()
On Error GoTo Err_cmdReport_Click

Dim stDocName As String

stDocName = "rptOfme"
DoCmd.OpenReport stDocName, acPreview

Exit_cmdReport_Click:
Exit Sub

Err_cmdReport_Click:
MsgBox Err.Description
Resume Exit_cmdReport_Click

End Sub

(Error 3022)The Changes You.... Error In Subform

Dec 18, 2006

hi guys i was wondering if you can help me this is my code: i have a main form with this code, this form contains a subform linked by the All_PricingID

Set rst = CurrentDb.OpenRecordset("tblAll_Pricing") 'main table
' adding data to the table
rst.AddNew
' Main table
rst!All_PricingID = Me.txtPricingID 'Main table pk
rst!MainContract_ID = Me.cmbMainContract 'combo box in parent form
rst!ItemNumber = Me.txtItem 'Main form text
rst.Update

'sub Table
Set rst2 = CurrentDb.OpenRecordset("tblPricing") 'sub table
For varItem = 0 To Me.lstsubContracts.ListCount - 1 'this is a list in the main form
'--- loop through all the items in the list box and create a new row in the subform for each subcontract in the listbox lstSubcontracts.
rst2.AddNew
rst2!ID = Me.All_PricingID 'sub table foreign key
rst2!SubContractID = Me.lstsubContracts.Column(0, varItem) 'sub table
rst2.Update
Next varItem
'--- close the tables
rst.Close
rst2.Close
Set rst = Nothing
Set rst2 = Nothing

the subform appears correctly with the rows i wanted added but i need the user to be able to edit a column in the subform for the rows just created (my form is on datasheet view). but everytime i move to cursor into the subform, i can't even scroll up and down.

i keep getting an error that says :

The changes you requested to the table were not successful because they would create duplicate values in the index, primary key, or relationship. (Error 3022)

but when i check my tables tblAll_Pricing and tblPricing , everything is inserted correctly according to my recorset above, do you know why this is happening? and why i am not able to edit my subform. my subform allowsedits and additions.

Autolooks - How Do I Make Them

Jun 25, 2006

Hi

I'm making my first commissioned database and I can't get my head around auto-lookups.

At the moment, I'm only working with tables because I want everything properly formatted and working at the table stage before I move on to making my forms, queries, reports, and eventually the switchboard.

What I want to do is when I call up a particular ID number in a table which has corresponding data in another table, I want the corresponding data, such as names and phone numbers, to come up automatically within the table.

My database has about eight tables in it and all are linked in someway, either because I need to create lookups, or because they will eventually be subforms.

So what I need is for someone to explain an easy way to get the tables to do what I want. I've looked up the Dlookup function in Access Help but it didn't make sense

Can someone help me please? I would REALLY appreciate it.

Thanks.

Got The Code, But Can't Make It Run

Last week, I posted for help getting an email (with attachments) sent from inside an Access database.

With some help from my friends here, I fought through the issues and got the code in the module to work, when tested from the immediate window.

Problem is, I can't figure out how to tie it to a macro or event or anything else that will let me push a button and have it run.

I need nuts and bolts details--- how do I run this module?

Make MDE Problem

Dec 28, 2007

Hello all,

I have a front end/back end app in AccessXP/Sql Server. I have a master version of the front end on my pc, and each user has a copy on their pc.
Everything works fine. I wanted to go the last step in securing the project, so I converted to an MDE. Now, on some of the other PC's, any field in a form that has "NOW()" as the default value (unbound fields) displays the #NAME? error.

Any idea why it would work fine in a .MDB, but not in an .MDE?

Thanks
Mark
