So I have an field which you can check off. Once checked off it should generate a new record with almost exactly the same data. How can I do this?

Column Names. Can I Make The Name Field "higher"? (to Make Room For More Lines)

I'm currently working with a form, which is in datasheet view. I have many rows which are combo boxes (yes/no), and the name is rather long. So each line (each row) spreads on to 2-3 pages to the right.What I would like to do is make the namebar, on top of every column, a little bit higher, so the name would be split into two lines, or three. Make Field Auto Populate Based On Value Of Field In Another Table

I'm creating a database that keeps a track of questions and scores.

The questions in the database need to be dynamic and are changed frequently.

I have a scorecard table which keeps a record of scores and the applicable question at the time the record was saved. I need to do this because in 6 months time we may want to provide feedback. As the question may have changed we need to be able to refer back to what the question was.

I want the question field in my scorecard table to populate with the value in my question table.

I have tried a number of things including setting the question field in the scorecard table to a lookup based on the following query:

SELECT tblQ1.Q1
FROM tblQ1;

This works however only as a list or combo box. I don't want the user to have to select the question. I want it to auto populate, is this possible?

the table 2 is the source of a form that will let the user change the numbers. table 1 should change Date1 and Date2 Fields based on the two fields (3months) and (6months) if i want to make a lookup wizard it should be changed manually and if i make a calculated field i can't find other tables in the expression builder

Count Of Records That Make Up 80% Of A Sum

I have a table which essentially is:

- Category
- Item #
- Sales $

I'm looking for a query that will tell me the count of items that make up 80% of the sales per category (probably would have to use a subquery here). So if my table was:

item #, sales $
1, $10
2, $8
3, $6
4, $5
5, $1

Total sales = $30
80% of total = $24
The number of items needed to get to 80% of total sales = 3

Is there any easy way to do this in a query?

How To Make Button Generate Records

While there are lots of detailed issues discussed and resolved here, my problem is at a much higher level. Here's what I want to do.

I want to generate records in a file based on the user entering some 9 different values. The first two values will be used to get records from file A (they are a partial key). The values from the records in file A, plus the other values entered by the user will be used to generate records in file B. I hope this is clear enough.

I have created a query which prompts the user for each field and does the job just fine, but I want to replace the 9 individual prompts with a single form which allows the use of combo boxes for the partial key and a date picker for the single date field.

I've fluffed through creating a form with unbound controls to suit and even worked out a form of cascading combo box for the partial key, but I am struggling to find the best way to make a button at the bottom generate those records.

A nice optional would be to then display the added records (i.e. another query I guess).

Can somebody give me some pointers as to how to approach this? I've done very little in the way of Access programming, being mostly an SQL guy.

Forms :: Make Two Records That Are Similar?

I am creating a simple inventory db. I have a form that we enter into the table inventory. Right now we enter in everything once as inventory, then again to out to coating or ship to customer. I’m looking for the code to create a button enter the record twice but make two fields change.

So in short terms I want the form to enter a record with all the data as displayed. Then create another record with all the same data but the quantity would need to change to a negative and the Status would change to “Coating”.

I know this code won't work but this is what I want to do.

In Access 2013, in a table named DOCSDETAIL or form, I want the UTENTE (meaning user) field (Currency type €) automatically receives the same amount of PVP field (Currency type €) but can be modified as needed.

Example: Registration of documents in which the amount paid by the USER has two possibilities;

1. DifferS from PVP (Public Sale Price)
2. Equal the PVP

Looks like it might be used

= "Update your_table set your_field_new = your_field_old"

= "Update DOCSDETALHE set UTENTE = PVP"

But do not know where to put and if the syntax is correct!

How Do I Automatically Make A Set Of Records Based A(some) Main Table

Hello people,

I have for some time now been fooling around with a database to keep track of several clinical trials
Basicallly I have made 4 tables..2 which defines the project ( Project and visist), 1 that populates the projects ( patients) and 1 that bind the patients visits to specific dates ( appointment)

The trouble is that im Lazy :D and therfore dont want to enter the appointment data for all patients one at a time each time we get a new guniea pig since all thats diffferent is the dates he/she has to show up.
Im hoping for some way to fill up my appointment table based on patientID and projectID alone.

SO this is my 4 tables... ( some unimportant fields left out)

Visits
ProjectID (FK)
VisitID(FK)

The idea is to create a project and then add a set amount of visits to the project ( days when they have to come and get a blood sample taken)
All patients involved in the project is likewise added in the Patients table and joined to a project.

Since the patients all have to come to a fixed amount of visits ( determined by the project) I was thinking I could make a form where I pick a patient from a combobox
(select projectID,PatientID,PatientName) and then automatically generate a record for each visit in my Visit table where Visits.ProjectID = cboPickPatient.ProjectID
and show them in a subform so I can enter the date they have to come. I hope that makes sense. ( preferably I would like to add the date also by just entering the first Visit date and the using the DaysToNextVisit to make the other visit dates or each patient, but thats a whole other problem :o )


My instinct tells me I have to do some sort of loop code but I havent figured out the details.

Can any of you guys lead me in the right direction before I loose all my hair in frustation??

This seems to me to be a pretty simple problem-making a recordset based on a projectID and the visits involved in that project but im just out of ideas:confused:

I am making a database that has to do with Preventive maintenance. Everything is going good and I came to a problem. There are recurring events. Some are weekly monthly quarterly etc all the way to 5 years. When I put in the task and a start date and the occurrence. So Say I put in a date of a task for today and its set to monthly I want the next record to be 1/13/14 for the task and go all the way up to infinity until a box is checked making it inactive.

I am developing a simple database for students to register courses using Microsoft Access 2010. I have 4 tables: Student, Register, Course, and Section (1 Course can have many Sections).

Then, there is a criteria that a student can only take up to 6 courses. Hence, may I know that where and how can I include this constraint? I believe that it should be in the Macro (Before Change) of the table Register...

I have records using a select query that I am sending to a make table. I would like to have those records excluded from being used again for 180 days, at which point they can be used again. Essentially, I have an ID and an email address which gets stored in the Make Table. I would need to ensure that if we send an email out in Week 1, we do not send an email again for another 180 days if there is activity from that same ID. On day 181, the ID/email address can then be resent.

I am setting up a database to hold staff details, and would like a query to show each member of staff's total hours and FTE.

Staff name etc is in tblStaff
Staff shift details are in tblShifts linked via staffID

tblShifts will contain details of the shift worked on each day of the week, but the majority of our staff work a standard shift - e.g 8-4, 9-5. Therefore what I wanted to do was in tblStaff set a field named shiftPattern to 1 2 3 or 4. 1 indicating a custom shift, and any other number indicating a set shift defined in a separate table.

The problem I have is that my query only returns people who have details in tblShifts - regardless of their shiftPattern value. If I enter a blank record in tblShifts it will do the above as intended.

I am having this problem. On the same form named frm_Employees_on_Call_What_Order

I have 2 command buttons, one named Thursday and one named Wednesday. I want those buttons to update 2 fields on the same form.

I have 2 fields also on the same form named OnCallDte and CallNexttDte which are date fields.

Thursday should update OnCallDte and Wednesday should up date CallNexttDte

Each of the command buttons Thursday and Wednesday have there own code bound to them in date format.
