Minimise Access Main Window/Outlook Contacts Display
Oct 4, 2004
Two questions:
1.I have disabled all menus and assigned a custom form to load when the database is launched.
The form launches with the Main Access window in the background.
Is it possible to have this main window invisible; either minimised or absent?
2.I have created a linked outlook contacts table in my database. I have a feature in one of my forms which searches for contacts based on certain selections.
When a contact is found, it needs to be displayed. I will like to use the existing Outlook contact detail forms to pop up. I can make a custom form to display this info, but it seems a waste of time to code what outlook already has.
Can someone give any ideas? or, direct me to some reference material?
thanks!
I have limited programming skills but a basic understanding of databases.I want to create a database in Access that links to contacts in an Outlook pst file, and in the Access database I want to create a series of date dependant tasks or processes that I can apply to the relevant contact. The object being to to save that collection of tasks to apply to different contacts within Access.
I need to have Access open with a form that does not take up the entire screen and I don't want to see the Access stuff behind it. How can I make just the start up form appear when I open the db?
The clients use this app with their monitor resolution set to 800 x 600. Whenever I edit a form I need to set my screen resolution to 800 x 600 to make sure the form is within bounds.
I wan't a fast way to set the Main Access Window's size too 800 x 600 pixels.
Application.DoCmd.MoveSize(,,800,600) is supposed to work but I get a syntax error.
I created this database long time ago, but now my boss wants to import the contacts list from outlook into the database. Now, these lists will differ per user. Right now there are 6 users, who are using the database and they all will have different contacts lists. How can I import it in a manner, when they login the outlook will will search for their contacts only and let them make changes.
I want to create a form and this form will already be filled with the contact info from the outlook, and half of the form is for the user's comments so they can circulate the information through a report to different people.
I hope I was able to send my msg across. I am pretty bad at explaining stuff.
my custom have a big table in the outlook, in the contacts.
in the outlook table that possible to insert also the birthday.
my custom want to send mail day-before the birthday to wish.
I want to do it with access, to link the table to the contcts and send mail if the birthday is tomorrow.
but when I try to connect to the contacts in the outlook, i get the fileds: first name last name email .... but no the birthday and the anniversary (the table design attach)
I'm working on a database that produces employee contracts. To make it look as professional as possible I hide the Access main window when the splash screen loads using the ShowWindow function. The various forms to check and enter details all pop up without any problem, but when I get to the last stage where I use a report to produce the contract and then open it in PrintPreview mode, it won't display (unless I show the main window again , which looks very untidy!). Is it actually possible to display a report with the main Access window hidden?
I know how to create new table in Access by linking to Outlook contacts. The problem is, the default NOTES field in the Outlook contact does not show up in the linked Access table. Every Outlook Contact field shows up with the exception of that one field.
I'm working on a database which holds information about clients. This also has a linked table which pulls information from my outlook inbox. Basically what I want is a way to sort the emails into the appropriate contacts page. I have created a sub form which is linked to the contact form and pulls info from the email table. The sub form is linked by the 'from' field in the linked email table to the 'email address' field in the contact form.
This all seems to work exactly as I want when the email address is displayed as the display name of the client however most of the time, the display name in outlook is either the contacts name or their company name.
I suppose my question is this, how can I tell access to pull the email address from outlook instead of the display name? I may be missing something here but this seems like something that should be available as standard doesn't it?
I have a form of data base which is being shared by 3-4 persons. The problem being observed is, in Laptop it shows the complete form on screen but in PC of 14" monitor, we have to adjust the seek bar to view the form up/down. Can there be any solution to automatically fit the form size to monitor size?
I've created a query called "JobHistoryQuery" and a form called "JobHistoryMultiForm", this displays all Jobs related to an Asset and all the information about that job. There are some fields (BilledMonth, BilledYear, BilledValue, Parts Required, PartsUsed), however, that I would only like to see if I need to see them (as there is quite a lot of information on the form and ideally, I'd like to be able to see the key information from each job from that asset with ease). What I would like is to create a button that says "Billing" and "Parts" for each job and it brings up a pop up window displaying that information.
I am trying to display upcoming events in an outlook style report.
We have 5 rooms available for bookings, the report loads fine for 4 of these but for whatever reason the Board Room report (Weekly Bookings Board Room) throws up a data mismatch error, and the datasource is exactly the same as the other reports but checking for a different room.
I have created a report with a subreport for my database. The user selects the project for which he/she wants to see a report. Once the project is selected, the report is displayed in a popup window and maximized in the print preview layout. This allows the user to view and read the report. Once this is done, there are no buttons or menus on the screen that allows the user to send the report to a printer or file.
Other than the report, there are minimize / maximize and close buttons at the top right of the window and page selection buttons at the bottom left of the window. If the user wants to print the report, they must either hit ctrl-P or right click the mouse on the screen to display a menu from which the user can select print to open a print dialog box. Is there any way to add a button or menu to the print preview that appears on the screen to make printing easier?
I used the Contacts Database Template to import a comma delimited txt file of contacts data. The template included a number of tables, queries, forms & reports which I did not require. I deleted them leaving only a Table entitled 'Addressbk'. I added an Entry Form using the standard access tools and this works fine with the table. However, on running the access database I get the following error message; 'The form named "Main" is mis-spelled or refers to a form that doesn't exist. My only form is labelled 'Entry Form', so it would appear that one of the forms I deleted must have been named 'Main'. If one ignores the error message the database & entry form function perfectly.
I made an address database in access, with the intention to export it to Outlook contacts. But in Access I made a separate column with "street" and another one with the "number" of the house/apartment. If I try to import the addresses in Outlook, I can only drag one column to the "street" field in Outlook (where street and number are considered to be in that field together). Is there a fast solution for this? I'm thinking of combining the street and nr columns in Access (if that's possible) into a new column, so I can delete the separate columns.. If you know how to do this or to fix this issue any other way, please let me know.
I have a main form which displays the results in the subform.
My requirement :
I have 1 main form and 2 subforms in that form.
I just wanted to have a get focus function on my 1st subform and needs to display the focusing result in the next 2nd subform.
In Detail :
I had a main form of search boxes Author, Published, title
If you search for 1999 in published text box then it will display all the results whose published year is 1999 along with those respective Author and Title in the 1st subform
In the result 1st subform if an ID is selected by the cursor then that entire row needs to be displayed in the next 2nd subform (As of now I wanted only 2 column details of the focussed result).
1st subform needs to display all the searched results (It was done and it works fine)
2nd subform needs to display the selected results (On Focus) of 1st subform.
How to deal with the 2nd subform linking up with the 1st subform.
Attached is the file. How to proceed further in getting done with the 2nd subform.

I have search filter form that when I click the search button is passing a value in OpenArgs to the Main Form on open event. The OpenArgs is changing the recordsource of the subform on the main form appropriately. However, the main form is referencing all of the records, not just the ones that are int eh subform recordsource. My link master and child fields are correct. There is a 1:N relationship between my mainform table and subform table.
For example, my my subform, the recordsource is diplaying 2 records where the Status = BLUE, however, the mainform (Projects) is showing ALL records even where the status isn't blue. So when I scroll through the mainform records, if the project isn't status = blue, the status subform shows a blank record. I only want the Projects where the status is blue.
I have a table called exiting staff data and a field called Follow up required. I want to count the number of Yes entries and display it on the main menu. Have tried
Code: =Count([Exiting Staff Data].[Follow up required]="Yes")
Hello, I'm trying to use information based on items selected in a combobox in the main form. Once the user selects the desired info in the comboboxes on the main form, I want the subform to display the data that matches the search criteria in the main form. For instance, if I select a job number, I want everything that matches that job number to be displayed the subform (along with the corresponding job name, version, etc.). I also want to get more specific in a search where I could select a job number, job name, and job version from the comboboxes in the main form to where all the data that matches the search criteria in the main form will be displayed in the subform.
Attached is what I have so far. The form I'm trying to perform this in is the SearchByResults form and the subform is the qryk95 form. I'm trying to populate this using the K95-Template table. I performed a query (qryk95) to select only the fields I want to display in my subform. Any help would be much appreciated.
Hi, I have been using "fSetAccessWindow (SW_HIDDEN)" in the open event of my main switchboard to hide the grey Access screen from being visible behind forms, reports, etc in this db. But when I started using a .vbs script file to launch the db, the Access window stopped being hidden. (The reason I use the script for launching is that it temporarily sets the db's security level to 1 which stops the macro security warning from coming up.) Apparently MS knows about this happening and released a technique to rectify the situation, but I don't understand their instructions. It looks like they expect one to have more understanding than I have. Could someone help me get this impliemented? Here is the article: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/167659/en-us Thanks!
I am trying to Hide or Show the Access Window by using two buttons on a Form. Running Access 2013 in Windows 7 64bit.
I have used code from the Internet as below but added the PtrSafe item to the Function Declaration as below:-
Option Compare Database 'Hide Access desktop screen and float Forms on pc desktop Private Declare PtrSafe Function IsWindowVisible Lib "user32" (ByVal hwnd As Long) As Long
Dim dwReturn As Long Const SW_HIDE = 0
[Code] ....
I then have two buttons on a form coded as below:-
Option Compare Database Private Sub cmd_Hide_dbw_Click() Call fSetAccessWindow("Minimize", False, False) DoCmd.OpenForm "frm_Test", acNormal End Sub
[Code] .....
I have attached a Test Database which demonstrates the problem I am experiencing.
Do the following sequence...............
Open the Test Database. DO NOT ENABLE CONTENT The Access 'Ribbon'Test_Database.accdb is active and usable Open frm_Test in Design View in order to inspect, all should be as shown above. Now click the Enable Content warning Switch frm_Test to Form View
Click button Hide dbw. Closes the Access Window Click button Show dbw. Opens the Access Window...HOWEVER....
Attachment 20252The Access Ribbon is locked and usable !!!
I have a parent window which upon clicking on a button will pop-up a child window containing a listbox. The listbox recordsource is a subset of the parent window. I want the user to select a record from the listbox which will load the selected record onto the parent window.
How does one pass argument back from child window to parent window?
From parent window to child window, I used docmd.openform ,,,,,,[argument] and me.openargs in the child window
