Not sure if this is a access or windows problem but I thought I'd see if anyone has an answer. I have a database that I built to track certain requirements and generate reports and preformatted letters. On the win2k machineeverything works just as planned. When moved to the server, that same machine still has no problems. However when I move to a winxp machine (still using office 2K) the database statrts into the control panel like normal. Problem is as soon as I try to open the first form I get an error that the database is referencing a broken or missing file "outlctlx.dll". The only real code I have is the mousehookmod which to the best of my knowledge was written by Terry Kreft & Ken Getz. This is the only other thing I can think may be calling that dll, but can not find the call reference. Any help or suggestions would be appreciated.
I've created a query to identify payees with only initial instead of first name for cheque payments. The query produces the correct results as far as I have seen so far.
Code: SELECT Daily_Work_Allocation.contact_reference, Daily_Work_Allocation.Payee, Len(Mid([payee],InStr([payee]," ")+1,(InStr(InStr([payee]," ")+1,[payee]," ")-InStr([payee]," ")-1))) AS Expr1, Daily_Work_Allocation.payment_method, Left([contact_reference],5) AS Expr2, Mid([payee],InStr([payee]," ")+1,(InStr(InStr([payee]," ")+1,[payee]," ")-InStr([payee]," ")-1)) AS Expr3 FROM Daily_Work_Allocation WHERE (((Daily_Work_Allocation.payment_method)="Cheque") AND ((Left([contact_reference],5))="PPI70"));
However I only wish to see those records that have a value of 1 for 3rd field (Expr1).When I enter 1 in criteria I get the IPC message?
I'm getting "Invalid procedure call or argument" pop up whenever my database uses any of the code. Any form that uses code in the Form_Open section now won't open etc.
This now effects all my forms, i'm 99% sure that i haven't changed anything and have no idea why its happening.
It doesn't seem to matter whether its clicking a button or opening a form it happens for any piece of code.
I'm attempting to create a foreign key field in a sub-query by using Left() and Instr() to parse the text of my key field and return the characters prior to the second "-".
Example: 002-C100-4569 ---> 002-C100
When I build a second query with a relationship between the foreign key field previously mentioned with the key field in an associated query, I get the error "Invalid Procedure Call"
I have a form with a button to print preview a report. This report needs one input parameter before executing. The computer this will run on is a touch screen and does not have a keyboard. Windows 7 has a "on screen keyboard" program. I want this to run first so that my user can input the parameter.
I have the following which throws an "Invalid procedure Call or Argument"
Sub CallTeclado() Dim RetVal RetVal = Shell("c:windowssystem32osk.exe", vbNormalNoFocus) End Sub
I am trying to run a query in Access 2010 but I am getting an "Invalid Procedure Call" error. I searched online and found that this error can be caused by broken references.
I opened the VB editor (Alt F11) to search for "Missing" references but I do not see any. These are the 4 that are checked.
1. Visual Basic for Applications 2. Microsoft Access 14.0 Object Library 3. OLE Automation 4. Microsoft Office 14.0 Access database engine Object Library
My question is more general than specific. Yes, I am getting the error mentioned in the Title. The full text of the message is:
The expression On Close you entered as the event property setting produced the following error: Invalid or unqualified reference.
This is from an Access project that I inherited. To make it worse, I think that I may have simply fat-fingered the VBA file somewhere, but this error does not tell me where, and this happens immediately when I try to go into Design mode.
Is there any other information I can get (or something I can do) to find out exactly where/why Access (2007) is unhappy?
I'm developing an application where I want to call the keyboard up on the screen when a user enters a field. This is my setup:
Windows 8.1 32 Bit, Access Runtime 2010. Exact lines of code are:
Dim RetVal RetVal = Shell("C:Program FilesCommon Filesmicrosoft sharedinkTabTip.exe")
These lines of code work perfectly fine on my development PC which is running Windows 7 64 bit, Access/Office 32 bit.
I know the path to the exe is good. I can navigate and double click it and it works great. but the shell command is resulting in the invalid procedure.
main - [Welders fm], 2nd level - [PipingQualificationTickets tbl Subform] 3rd level - [WelderWps fm] This is a pop up form but is related to the 2nd level formVBA Error
I have a dropdown box [Wps] (3rd Level PopUp) with an after update function to lookup a query [DLookUpWeldWPS Qy] and insert the text into [Wps(s)QualifiedFor] on the 2 level [PipingQualificationTickets tbl Subform]
I must be missing a reference somewhere, but I have a form with several calculated fields in it, with the control source as =DateDiff.... They were working fine last week, but now all it displays is #Name?. What happened? I've looked at my references and none appear to be missing. WHich one do I need to add to make this work again? Thanks for you help.
I have three forms that are related to each other. When i click on a button on the second form I get this error: an expression that has an invalid reference to the property form/report. But why do I get this error??
At the third form I have two sub forms. This code are in the first sub form: Segment_subform. Sub Form_Current()
Dim ParentDocName As String
On Error Resume Next ParentDocName = Me.Parent.Name
If Err <> 0 Then GoTo Form_Current_Exit Else On Error GoTo Form_Current_Err Me.Parent![Blokk_Subform].Form.Requery End If
I think it's something wrong with Me.Parent![Blokk_Subform].Form.Requery. It doesn't recognize blokk_Subform.
I have a form with two subforms (the second is the child of the first). I want to filter a combo box in the second subform using the record of the first as the filter.
When I open the form from the object list I get this '2455' error. When I press "end" and the form opens the requery does what I want it to do with no further error, using this code in the "got focus" event of the combo box in the first subform:
I am getting a missing reference warning - I have found the reference on google and downloaded the file but now do not know what to do with it. Underneath Tools the references are greyed out so I cannot check or uncheck anything. i have checked on another machine and the .ocx files are stored in program Files - VideoSoft but this computer does not have a VideoSoft folder. I am totally confused since it all worked about three weeks ago... Help?
When i open the database i get an error message saying there is a missing reference. I cannot get into Tools - references to tick/untick boxes as the references is greyed out. Why would this be?
missing or broken reference to the file ‘plugin.ocx’ version 1.0, and also in file 'msoutl.olb version 9.2’
It says I need to fix these references to ensure the database or project works properly.
(The references shown as MISSING in the Visual Basic Editor are:
Microsoft Active X Plugin
Microsoft Outlook 11.0 Object Library)
Clicking OK lets me into the database and all seems to work fine. However, the last thing I want is for the whole thing to fall over and become corrupt so any assistance would be greatly appreciated.
Hi everyone, Im building a database as part of a group project for uni. Its almost finished but recently on first opening the DB and clicking on a button on the form we get the following message boxes:
Firstly:
Your database contains a missing or broken reference to the file ‘OWC10.DLL’ version 1.1.
Click ok
and get...
Your database contains a missing or broken reference to the file ‘MSCHRT20.OCX’ version 2.0
When i click help it talks about deleting references but im not sure how to do this as im no expert by any means! I think this problem may have arisen because our accountancy department computers use access 2003 and the rest of the uni uses xp and we have been working on them both - oops! :(
Anyways i was wondering if anyone could point me in the right direction to fix these problems?
I found this code on a website that uses a form to search all tables in my database. Problem is that when I click "search" I get an invalid argument error. I am guessing that there is a problem with my SQL string. Missing space? Missing quotation marks? etc etc.... Anyway, here is the code:
Dim tdf As DAO.TableDef Dim fld As DAO.Field Dim rs As DAO.Recordset Dim strSearch As String Dim strTableName As String
I am getting an "Invalid procedure call" error when trying to run this query in Access. If I remove the Distinct it runs fine, but I need it in there to remove duplicates. Also, When I remove the expression Mid([SIDE_DRUG_DESC],(InStr([SIDE_DRUG_DESC],"("))+1,InStr([SIDE_DRUG_DESC],")")-InStr([SIDE_DRUG_DESC],"(")-1) AS ParseTxt with Distinct in place it runs, but I need the parsed text in the query. Any help would be appreciated. thanks
SELECT Distinct RGCNSEQ4_GCNSEQNO_MSTR.GCN_SEQNO, RGCNSEQ4_GCNSEQNO_MSTR.GCRT, tbl_RGenName_StrTbl.GNN60_PLUS, Mid([SIDE_DRUG_DESC],(InStr([SIDE_DRUG_DESC],"("))+1,InStr([SIDE_DRUG_DESC],")")-InStr([SIDE_DRUG_DESC],"(")-1) AS ParseTxt, RSIDEDD0_DRUG_DESC.SIDE_DRUG_DESC FROM (RSIDEDD0_DRUG_DESC INNER JOIN ((RSIDEGC0_GCNSEQNO_LINK INNER JOIN RGCNSEQ4_GCNSEQNO_MSTR ON RSIDEGC0_GCNSEQNO_LINK.GCN_SEQNO = RGCNSEQ4_GCNSEQNO_MSTR.GCN_SEQNO) INNER JOIN RSIDEMA3_MSTR ON RSIDEGC0_GCNSEQNO_LINK.SIDE = RSIDEMA3_MSTR.SIDE) ON RSIDEDD0_DRUG_DESC.SIDE = RSIDEMA3_MSTR.SIDE) INNER JOIN tbl_RGenName_StrTbl ON RGCNSEQ4_GCNSEQNO_MSTR.GCN_SEQNO = tbl_RGenName_StrTbl.GCN_SEQNO WHERE (((InStr([SIDE_DRUG_DESC],"("))>"0"));
I'm having to recode some old MS Access DBs so they will run in the following environments:
Office 2000 on WinXP Office 2003 on WinXP Office 2010 on WinXP Office 2000 on Win7 Office 2003 on Win7 Office 2010 on Win7
When I wrote my code for Office 2000 on WinXP things were simple because directory paths were the same across all computers and I could hard code pathing when using a shell command to launch other files.
My new approach is to make a function call to the Windows registry to determine the default executable and path for opening a file based upon its extension (see apicFindExecutable in basWindows API module).
I'm able to use code to create a shell call and debug print it to the immediate window. If I put my cursor in the immediate window at the end of the shell call and hit [enter] the external file will open as desired. If I try to open the external file directly through code, I get a file not found error.
To recreate the error take the following steps:
(1) browse to files that are accessible from your computer (2) click the PREPARE DATA AND OPEN MAIL MERGE DOCUMENTS command button
Shell function call is made by the fnOpenFile function located in the basOpenFile module. There has to be a trick here that I'm missing.
This is an ongoing problem I have had for 4 weeks now.
I have made a a system thats acts like a clock In/clock out Out system.
the structure is somthing like this ID Username tblDailyLog TimeIn MorningBreakOut MorningBreakOut LunchOut LunchIn AfternoonOut AfternoonIn TimeOut
All fields apart from ID (autonumber) and username (String*255) are Date field (there are a few others like DateOfTimesheet etc but they arnt important here)
When a user arrives in the morning they make a record which they use for the day
They then have a form with a whole bunch of buttons which simply updates the correct field. For example they click the "Sign in for the Day" button and it updates the correct field with the current time.
Everything was going fine until people noticed that every now and again a sign in time dissapeared.
I have hacked myself to death trying to solve this problem but still the updates go Astray.
Now each time a time is updated the process goes somthing like this
1. the user opens their timesheet for the day (the RS is SNAPSHOT and no locks)
2. User Hits a sign in/out button 3. The record source is changed to "" and all buttons hidden (to ensure the record isnt locked and to make sure you dont do two things at once) 3. The table is updated with the new time (using some dynamic SQL) 4. The table is repeatadly checked using a DO loop to make sure the the correct time went in. 5. when the returned time value of the field matches the varaible used to update it, the form is returned to normal and the user carries on his/her merry way (if it never matches the screen should crash but this never happens). 6. A New record is added to another table called "tblbugfixinglog" which records which field was updated and when. This is so that I have two records in two different ways (figured if one went astray I could pull it back off the other) 7. Another new record is added to yet another table called tblSQLRecord, which simply logs all .RUNSQL statements that are executed.
I thought that the two extra tables (and the check that the record had been updated) would help me track down where the records are going missing, but this isnt the case.
Now it appears that some records arnt being added to tblBugFixingLog and to tblSQLRecord either and some of these tables are getting quite a few #ERROR's in them..
None of the tables are related to any other and i've no idea how #ERROR lines are appearing in a table that has 1 function... to recieve new records ... no editing, no viewing, no deleting.
Does anyone have any idea how these updates/inserts can go missing or create #ERRORs. I've built plenty of Databases in my time and have never come across this. __________________________________________________ ______________
This is the function I use to add a record to tblBugfixingLog and tblSQLRecord
Private Sub AddBugLog(ByVal TimesheetNumber As Long, ByVal FieldUpdating As String, ByVal NewFieldValue) Dim TempSQL As String TempSQL = "INSERT INTO tblBugFixingLog (TimeAndDateOfEntrySERVER,TimeAndDateOfEntryPC,Fie ldUpdated,NewEntry,UserID,TimesheetNumber,Computer AssetNo) VALUES (" & _ "#" & Format(ServerGetTime(Environ$("LOGONSERVER"))) & "#," & _ "#" & Now & "#," & _ "'" & FieldUpdating & "'," & _ "'" & NewFieldValue & "'," & _ "'" & GetNTUser & "'," & _ "'" & TimesheetNumber & "'," & _ "'" & fOSMachineName & "')" ' MsgBox TempSQL DoCmd.RunSQL "INSERT INTO tblSQLRecord (Username,DateAndTime,Screen,TheSQL) VALUES('" & LoginInfo.sUsername & "','" & CStr(Now) & "','Add Bug Log function','" & CleanData(TempSQL) & "')", False 'CleanData is a function that removes ' and " from the SQL string so i can easily add the SQL string into the table DoCmd.RunSQL TempSQL, False End Sub
Public Function CleanData(ByVal DataToClean As String) Dim TempData As String Dim i As Integer TempData = "" For i = 1 To Len(DataToClean) Select Case Mid(DataToClean, i, 1) Case "'" TempData = TempData & "`" Case """" TempData = TempData & "`" Case Else TempData = TempData & Mid(DataToClean, i, 1) End Select Next i CleanData = TempData End Function
1. We have one master table with many records. 2. We'd like to filter out records from the "master" table that match the records on other "exception" tables. 3. As I add records to the "exception" table, I'd like to generate a new table with the records from the master minus the exception table.
I've been reading up and I think that this could be done with queries. Any suggestions?
I am using some code found on this site to creat a log in process. It works great but I want call the UserName and insert it into my database showing Welcome<Username> you are currently logged in..
Can someone tell me how to call this from a form? following is the code behind the log in on the "Onload" event. Thanks in advance. Fen
Private Sub Form_Load() On Error GoTo Err_Form_Load
'To ensure a user has logged on correctly we check to see if a userlevel has been set. 'I use the same Select Case below in the "Form_Load" event of each form as some forms you 'may want to set different thins for different user levels rather than setting them 'globally in a module.
With Me
Select Case User.UserLevel
Case 1 'All OK
Case 2 'All OK
Case 3 'All OK .Command26.Enabled = False .cmdOpenUsers.Enabled = False
Case 4 'All OK .cmdOpenUsers.Enabled = False .AllowAdditions = False .AllowDeletions = False .AllowEdits = False
Case Else 'No userlevel set, must have got here via devious means !!
' MsgBox "No User Level Set. ", vbCritical, " LOGON ERROR" DoCmd.Close acForm, Me.Name
End Select
End With
Exit_Form_Load: Exit Sub
Err_Form_Load: MsgBox Err.Description Resume Exit_Form_Load End Sub
Private Sub Form_Unload(Cancel As Integer) Call LogUserOff 'Called from the Unload event incase the user just clicks the main 'Access Window Close Button or exits the Db some other way.
