I'm trying to write an UPDATE line in VBA, but whenever I put the table name I get an "Expected End of Statement" error.This is line currently;
Code: strSQL = UPDATE "MASTER PLANNER" SET [SET 2] = TRUE WHERE "[ID] = " & Me.PlannerID
It doesn't matter whether I change the table name to square brackets, quotes or nothing at all, it always gives me the expected end of statement error.
I'm trying to create a function to update and amend records in a table.
The update part works and updates existing records with new data but I'm getting an error with the insert part.
Run time error 3078 The Microsoft Office Access database engine cannot find the input table or query 'FALSE'. Make sure it exists and that its name is spelled correctly.
Nothing called 'FALSE' so not sure what that means?
Does anyone know why I get the error "Operation must use an updateable query" when I run this query.
UPDATE Food_Table SET Food_Table.Delivery_Size = (SELECT Delivery_Size FROM Delivery_Table WHERE ((Delivery_Table.Region=Forms.Formulation_Combo.Re gion_Combo) AND (Delivery_Table.SubRegion=Forms.Formulation_Combo. SubRegion_Combo) AND (Delivery_Table.Segment=Forms.Formulation_Combo.Se gment_Combo) AND (Delivery_Table.Sector=Forms.Formulation_Combo.Sec tor_Combo) AND (Delivery_Table.Product=Forms.Formulation_Combo.Pr oduct_Combo)));
When I run only the sub SELECT query portion all is well, but not in the update query.
Trying to create a query that will look up a barcode and subtract 1 from the currnet stock levels, i have the exact same sql statement for the adding of stock part from the -1 to a +1 the relised i may need a gap between the "-" and the 1 but it still comes up with the message. Anyone got an idea how i can make this work??
UPDATE table1 SET table1.quantity = "quantity - 1" WHERE (((table1.barcode)=[Barcode please]));
Microsoft office access didn't update 1 field due to a type conversion failure, 0 record(s) due to key violation, 0 records due to lock violaation and 0 records due to validation rule violations
I am trying to create an update query. I am trying to update a field in a table with the current date as a request.
I have a table named tblTest and a field named Date2 that I am trying to update with the current date, the button that the VBA is applied to is in a form name frmTest. This is my code:
Private Sub Command39_Click() Dim t1 As Date t1 = Date db.Execute("update tblTest set tblTest.Date2") = t1 End Sub
But when I press the button I get: Run time error '424' Object Required
All I'm trying to do is a make table (table name to overwrite: "TBL_5_7_RFCs") query via VBA so I can loop through a set of VARs in a table. Here is my code:
Code:
Public Function test_sql() Dim Conn As ADODB.Connection Dim RS As New ADODB.Recordset Dim MySQL As String Set Conn = CurrentProject.Connection RS.ActiveConnection = Conn
[code]...
I'll add the loop and array once I get this working but I'm stuck.
I have two tables: tblModels and tblParts. tblModels has primary key ModelID; tblParts has primary key PartID, and also has a ModelID field that's hooked to tblModels's ModelID with referential integrity (cascade all). I have a button on my form that duplicates the model (creating a new record in tblModels and getting a new ModelID), and when that happens, I'd like for the duplication process to run an Append Query that captures all records in tblParts that matches the FIRST ModelID (the original one), and makes new copies of them in the same table, but then sets the ModelID for each new record to the NEW ModelID (that was created with the button press).
I have done this using TempVars in my Append Query, and everything is working great, except for when all the Parts records get copied and added, they all have the OLD ModelID on them, which essentially duplicates the records in the old Model and leaves the new Model empty of associated records!The Append Query is using the ModelID field to find the records I want, so how do I then get it to write a NEW ModelID to each record after they're added to the table?
EDIT: I thought of maybe doing the old TempTable, Append Query dumps to that, Update Query changes ModelID's, Append Query dumps them back to the original table... but that seems like the long way around.
I am currently trying to create an update query (building a SQL String in VBA for a command button click event) to update a variable's value into a table.
Basically, there are 2 tables, displayed in 2 sub froms within the same main form. (OldTable and NewTable for arguments sake)
The basic method I want to implement is that a user highlights a record in the subform of "NewTable". (This value is stored as a variable "NewJPNUM" This value is then to be inserted into the highlighted row (or rows) of table OldTable on command button click.
So the basic idea is a user highlights a row in one table and this value is stored as a variable "NewJPNUM" . The user then highlights a row or rows in "OldTable" and the value from variable "NewJPNUM" is then written to field "NewJPNUM" in "NewTable" on command button click.
I am not experienced with Access but have decent experience in Excel / VBA so not really sure of best practice methods etc.
I am building an access database to manage a data conversion from multiple legacy systems (62) to a new non access database, and plan on making my Conversion Database reusable and functionally simpler.All data is imported to one common Table structure, with the source system identified against each record.In my legacy systems values are not coded the same ie
Title: Mr Miss Ms Mrs Record Type: Active, Inactive System A: 1, 2, 3, 4 a , i System B: a, b, c, d 1 , 2 System C: x, y, z, w ACT, ,INA
This applies to sooo many fields.I want to avoid having a mapping table for each field as I will quickly have an unmanageable number of mapping tables, and complex relationships in Queries..I would like to get to the point where I could have a single value mapping table something as follows
System, Field, Old Value, New Value System A, title, 1 Mr System A, title, 2 Miss System A, title, 3 Ms System A, title, 4 Mrs System B, title, a Mr System B, title, b Miss System B, title, c Ms System B, title, d Mrs
And some how call this in VB to go through all fields and records in a table if Old Value is found for a specific "System" and "Field" Change to new value, if noting found on Mapping table keep existing data.
I've set a database which has a table in which there are 2 fields "Account" and "Total Accounts". I want to have the amount of total summation of accounts in "Total Accounts" field of each record, which is the result of summation of "Account" values in all previous records till the current one. In order to do this purpose, I copied the value of "Amount" field of each record into "Total Accounts" field of the same record, at first. Then, I tried to add the amount of "Total Accounts" field of every record with just the amount of "Total Accounts" of previous one to earn the actual total amount of that record. I found that I need a VBA loop to do this query for all records (except first record) and so I code it as below, but it has the Run-time error '424' : Object required and it seems that I am in a mistake in definition of strSQL variable:
Code: Private Sub doDataSegm_Click() Dim dbs As DAO.Database Dim rs As DAO.Recordset Dim strSQL As String Set dbs = CurrentDb() Set rs = dbs.OpenRecordset("Table1", dbOpenTable)
I have a table 'table1' which has various field including an ID field and a yes/no field. I then have a form based on a query originally derived from data in the original table. The form provides a list with some ID's with a yes and some with a no.
I'm trying to write a button code to convert all the no's into yes' for those ID's picked out by the query.
I've searched lots of sites and get that I need to set recordsets for both table1 and the forms' query but all my efforts crash or give an error.
I am looking for the right way to say .." for each ID in form set the yes/no field corresponding to the same ID in table1 to yes"
I have a search query that searches for different results based on 3 criterior. I have set up a form so that the user can input the text into the form and then once the Submit button (that i created) is clicked the query table will be shown.
My question is:
Is it possible to have an error message box appear when i click submit and no data is returned by the search query?
I'm hoping for the message box to say "No corresponding records to your search criteria. Do you want to try again?"
Then the options given in the message box are Yes (where they should be taken back to the search form) and No (Where they are taken to another form).
I have a library function that will allow the user to nominate a query (as one of its arguments) in the calling application which must have an email field. The function will then Do Loop the email field, concatenating it before creating an email and addressing it. The intended functionality is that a developer can easily create a group email, just by creating a query.
This works fine if the query is filtered "statically" - i.e. I specify which group of people by typing in their "Site_ID" in the criteria. However I want developers to be able to creating dynamically filtered queries (perhaps by the group's ID on a calling form). Within the query (to test it), the filter is therefore [Forms]![Test Function Calls]![Site_id]. When I run the code, I am then presented with "Run-time error 3061: Too few parameters. Expected 1". The code in question is:
Dim rst As DAO.Recordset Dim stTo As String 'one of the function's arguments received from the calling function. Dim stToString As String 'the built up concatenated emails
Set rst = CurrentDb.OpenRecordset(stTo, dbOpenDynaset, dbSeeChanges)
SELECT SubscheduleID, EventID, WeekOrder, DayID, StartTime, EndTime, Priority, CanJoin, PatientTitle, PatientNickname, IncludesPatient, IncludesAftercare, Letter1 FROM [qryScheduleCombinedDetails] WHERE (SubscheduleID = 1 AND IncludesPatient = -1 AND DuringAftercare <> "AC only" AND (WeekOrder = "All" OR WeekOrder = 3 OR (WeekOrder = 1 AND Letter1 = "XYZ")) AND DayID = 2 AND StartTime <= #8:00:00 AM# AND EndTime >= #8:30:00 AM#);
When I try to run it, I get a "data type mismatch" error. When I put the same code into a query, I get the same error. However, it will run if I delete either condition from within the (WeekOrder = 1 AND Letter1 = "XYZ") pairing. I can't figure why it can run with either of those, but not both together.
WeekOrder is defined as String. Letter1 is calculated as Cstr(Nz(IIf(Letter,"XYZ","ABC"))) within [qryScheduleCombinedDetails], because I wanted to make sure that it would be recognized as a string.
Here's my Goal: To open a saved query that has a parameter, setting that parameter via a VBA sub.
Here's my Problem: I was getting various errors, but after debugging my program a bit, it comes down to a "Data Type Conversion Error"
Here's my Code:
Set db = CurrentDb Set qd = db.QueryDefs("qryMY_DATA") qd.Parameters(0) = Me.txt_ReferenceID Set rs = qd.OpenRecordset("qryMY_DATA", dbDynaset)
Code: '*** Database Variables Dim db As DAO.Database, rs As DAO.Recordset, gq As DAO.QueryDef, prm As DAO.Recordset
I've been all over the forums and tried several different approaches, all to no avail. The Query runs fine in the QDT, but kicks back an error when I try to run it from my sub.
What I want to do instead is open an existing .XLSM wokrbook delete or update the 7 sheets it creates and replace them with the new query results from access.
I love this code below because it works really well but now I have a new requirement. I have a workbook that has a "dashboard" sheet that looks at the sheets from acccess and summerizes the data. So, I'd like Access to open that "template" excel workbook and delete the old sheets and put in the new ones..The required sheets to keep are called "Metrics", "Validation" and "Mara"
What I was trying to do for the past few hours was another work around which was to have Access run this code, then excel run some code to import the "dashboard" formulas but I can't get it to copy to another workbook because it links to the OLD workbook..Here is the working code that needs modding:
Code:
Option Compare Database Public Function ExportAdvanced() Dim strWorksheet As String Dim strWorkSheetPath As String Dim appExcel As Excel.Application Dim sht As Excel.Worksheet Dim wkb As Excel.Workbook Dim Rng As Excel.Range Dim strTable As String Dim strRange As String Dim strSaveName As String Dim strPrompt As String Dim strTitle As String Dim strDefault As String
