I want to show an subform where in I would like to display images, txt, xlsx that are stored in a directory as icons which when clciked would open the respective files. The info related to the images are stored in t_CustomerFiles.
Record ID, CustomerID, DestinationPath,EventFileName, 1, A, C:UsersTestDesktopCustFiles, CustA1.jpg 2, A, C:UsersTestDesktopCustFiles, CustA2.xlsx 3, B, C:UsersTestDesktopCustFiles, CustB1.txt 4, C, C:UsersTestDesktopCustFiles, CustC1.jpg 5, C, C:UsersTestDesktopCustFiles, CustC2.jpg.
I would like to show them on a continusous sub form .. I am using image control by setting its control source property but it does not seem to work..Do I need something else for the xlsx and txt files..
I have a continuous subform which queries a table of attachments. I'm using Access 2007 but not using the Attachment datatype; this DB will grow considerably and I don't want to waste precious space by filling it with bulky files. So instead, I have code which makes a copy of the attachment and adds the hyperlink (to the copy) to the table instead.
Now - I want to add a control to the subform to display an icon / image reflecting the file type of the attachment (Word doc, Excel s/s, PDF etc.)
But not sure how to go about it.
I was thinking I could use FileSystemObject.GetFileExtension at the point in the code where the attachment is added, and add a new field to my attachments table (i.e. translate "*.xls*" to "Excel", etc.) Then store / embed a handful of images for the core types I would expect and use an image control on the subform to display the image based on the value of that field.
But is that even possible / feasible?
Or, is there a handy API which can retrieve the icon associated with a file type based on what has been installed on the local machine (even if there is, there's still the problem of setting up the image control to display the appropriate icon specific to each record...)
Or, is there another control available which would be better suited to something like this than an Image control?
I have some images stored in a SQL Table which is linked into Access. These images have to be stored in the database as I also reference them on other platforms (Android, Web etc).
In my Access programme I need to display a continuous form / report showing each image. Now, good old Access cannot display multiple images stored in the database on a continuous form. It can only do this if it is referencing the path to the image.
When the user views the form they will only see about 12 images at a time. I thought of a workaround which is to write the database images back to file to a local temp directory when the user loads the form. The user would be happy to wait for say 10 to 15 seconds whilst the form loads.
However, I cannot find an efficient algorithm to write the images back to a file. The one I am using is a BinarytoString algorithm by motobit which is fine for very small images, but anything over 100kb (which is still pretty small) it goes sooooo slow.
How to quickly write an image stored as a long binary in an Access DB back to a file? Or do I need to crack open my Visual Studio and write some C# DLL to use instead...?
I am trying to use this code to filter a continuous subform based on two criteria but getting a data type mismatch error.
It works fine if I filter by just one or another. Perhaps it is not possible
Code: Dim intSpouseEntityID As Integer intSpouseEntityID = Nz(DLookup("[EntityID]", "qryEntitiesLocations", "[ContactIDNumber] =" & Me.Spouse), 0) If intSpouseEntityID > 0 And Not IsNull(Me.subformContactsHomeAddress.Form.EntityID) Then MsgBox ("There are two spouse addresses please delete one and try again") DoCmd.Save DoCmd.OpenForm "frmContactAddresses", , , "EntityID=" & Me.txtEntityID Or "EntityID =" & intSpouseEntityID End If
We're looking at a way that we can easily display what stage our clients' email marketing campaigns are at - in one section of our CRM our Campaign Manager will enter information on whether the campaign has broadcast (ie: emailed out to the required circulation list(s)), if we're waiting for artwork from the client or if we're chasing for that information.
I have four text boxes (date format) hidden on a subform that I need to pull ONE max date from.
So, as an example:
Email1 (our first email to the client chasing for artwork) = 01/01/2015 Email2 (our second email to the client chasing artwork) = 08/01/2015 Email3 (our third chase email) = 15/01/2015 Broadcast (the date the email campaign was finally sent) = 29/01/2015
I would need some code to show in an unbound textbox "Broadcast: 29/01/2015"
But, on the other hand, if the dates looked like this:
I would need some code to show the following in an unbound textbox "Last Chased: 08/01/2015"
So we can easily see the status of our marketing campaigns at any stage in the process.
I've tried using IF THEN ELSE statements in the subform's On Current event, but that populates the information from the record you've selected across all the other records on the sub as well.
So I'm wondering if it's worth setting the Control Source of the unbound textbox I want to display the campaign status in as a bunch of nested IIF statements instead?
Thought I'd cracked my image problem by using the folllowing code I found in the microsoft resource. Works fine in single form view however I have now created a new form that is displayed in the continuous form layout. The image displayed for each individual form is the same as the rest dependant upon which form is highlighted at that time. Any ideas how to get each forms own image displayed, prefferably using a similar code. The images are linked to the database by a field in a table and the forms displayed are query results.
Any help would be fantastic, :) Thanks for reading, Matt
Private Sub Form_AfterUpdate() CallDisplayImage End Sub
Private Sub Form_Current() CallDisplayImage End Sub
Private Sub txtImageName_AfterUpdate() CallDisplayImage End Sub
Private Sub CallDisplayImage() Me!txtImageNote = DisplayImage(Me!ImageFrame, Me!txtImageName) End Sub
stDocName = "Edit Form Search" DoCmd.OpenForm stDocName, , , stLinkCriteria
I have a subform in Continuous Records format (records displayed are determined by controls on the parent). I would like to create a button that prepares an email and copies the contents of that subform in to the body of an email message.
The email. I have a method to create a new email, set To, CC, Subject and even Message Text.
Code: strTo = txtName strCC = txtManager strSubject = "Something" strMessage = "Hi, please find below list of details from X Y and Z" & vbnewline & vbnewline
That all works. Thats fine
The Records: I have found ways to have them added as an attachment, either the the SendObject and OutputTo method but I would like the list of records to be converted to a text string so I can include it within my strMessage variable, not include it as an attachment.
Code: strMessage = strMessage & "Subform Records to go here"...
I have a form that I would like to update a picture on using VBA. The source of the picture path is in part a query that is not bound to the form. So far I have the following code that is pretty much working, but with a couple flaws.
Code: Private Sub Form_Current() LoadDefaultPicture End Sub Sub LoadDefaultPicture() Dim db As DAO.Database
[Code] ....
This is working. However, when I change the record the picture flashes the current picture once and then loads the new picture. It is like it reloads the current picture then loads the new one. I'm hoping there is a way to get rid of the flash.
Also, the code fails here: strDefaultPictureName = rs.Fields("AttachmentName")
When the query does not return a record. I can definitely fix this by adding an if statement to check for a record, but I'm kind of perplexed at why it is failing at that line. I would expect it to assign an empty string to that variable name and then fail on the next command where I try and set the ".Picture" property of the image.
how do you loop through and insert selected data from a listbox on at a time? For example, lets say you have an insert statement that has a firstname, lastname, CarsID(foreign key) and address field. Lets say you had another table that has ID and CarsID(primary key) field. In the listbox, you have populated it with all the cars and they are selected.
Example:
INSERT INTO PEOPLE(firstname, lastname, CarsID) VALUES('John','Smith','Honda') INSERT INTO PEOPLE(firstname, lastname, CarsID) VALUES('John','Smith','FORD')
I have button the when pressed will insert a record (via an insert into query) to the frmMain and several records to the frmSub.The problem is when a new record is created in the main form the auto number primary key advances. This is fine however the linked Child field which is a foreign key of the main form is not added and the value is blank. I thought this would happen automatically and the Master field would force the child field to be update but this is not happening.Do I have to determine the max number used in the auto number then add 1 to it?
I am working with a database that deals with trailers. What is happening is a salesman takes an order for a make and model for a trailer for a customer. The customer can then add some customization to the trailer such as more tail lights or tie down straps. They add the customization on a form called frmCustomQuote. On frmCustomQuote there is a subform called sfQuoteConfigs. On sfQuoteConfigs there is fields such as category and sub catergory that get populated bases on what was selected.
On frmCustomQuote there is a button called "Copy Quote" this will allow the salesman to make an exact copy of the trailer and customization. The quotes are held in a table called tblQuotes and the customization is held in tbQuoteConfigs. Now my problem is when I click on Copy Quote it only copies the first record into tbQuoteConfigs. I can't figure out a way to tell my code to move to the next record within sfQuoteConfigs.
My code:
Code: Option Compare Database Option Explicit 'Setup ADODB connection to the tblQuotes Dim adoQuotesCustomQuote As New ADODB.Recordset 'setup ADODB connection to the tbQuoteConfigs Dim adoQuoteConfigsCustom As New ADODB.Recordset 'Dim the Variables
I have continuous form in Access 2010 and I would like when user will click on record, the image, for instance, imgTest become visible for that record. But for other records the image not visible. How it to do?
What I am trying to do is put a subform within a subform. The trouble is I want both forms to be continuous forms.
when I put the subform within a subform, access comes up with the following message:
************************************************** ******************** A form with a subform object cannot have its DefaultView set to Continuous forms.
You tried to add a subform to a form in design view. MSAcess will reset the property to Single Form. ************************************************** *********************
which it does my higher level form becomes a form only showing single records at a time whilst the subform is a continuous form.
I am currently working on an Access Database that houses our security clearance information. Most of the system is up and running but the most recent form has got me spinning my wheels. I have a Word User Form that users will download and complete, once completed the macros will automatically send us the document to be added to our database. Most of this is working the problem is that this portion of the database has multiple related tables and at any given time a user may require multiple records in the related tables. I have created the code to copy most of the information but am getting stuck adding a new record on the sub-form when multiple items are required. Here is a breakdown of the scenario
Word Doc Table 1 = Basic Organization Info Word Doc Table 2+ = Sites to Visit (There could be more than 1 table added here) Word Doc Table 3+ = People to go on site (this might not be the third table based on user interaction for sites)
So far I can get Table 1 and Table 2 data but if there are more than 1 site I cant seem to get the system to create a new record on the related table it is creating a new record on the main form. Here are the lines I used to try to create the related record..
When I put just the above code on a button it seems to have worked as the sub-form showed an additional record was created but when using this on my macro the sub-form is not taking the focus for some reason.
My main form has a union query as it's record source. This displays a list of items for which the user uses this form to apply a category for each of the items. This relationship of item to category is stored in a temporary table. I have a subform with a list box that shows the current selections and is based on the temporary table. The linking of the master and child is based on the "description" field. I would like the user to be able to select one of the items in the list and have the main form go to that record. (the list box has multiselect set to none).
I have a parent form which has a class variable (class module instance) to store the form' status and more.... and when i add a new record to the subform it resets the class variable field' data. but this only happens on first transaction, but if i re-run the steps (re-set the variable field value) it's not happening again.
I have created an DB which we report the errors on a system we use. We would like to add images into the table where we record the problem so the programmers can see whats going wrong.
I have created a field within the table called images with a OLE Object selected. When i go to add an image i get an error message "OLE Server was lost, or the OLE server encountered an error"
Is this a problem with Access or would this be a problem with our network?
Code: Option Compare Database Private Sub CreateCrosstab_Click() Dim dbs As dao.Database, rst As Recordset, rstInsert As dao.Recordset Set dbs = CurrentDb Call DeleteTable("FinalTable")
I would like continuous subform as a list box in my file. Now when click fields on my form the entire record will not be highlighted. In the sample I have found from the net when click on each field in the form entire row will be highlighted. So I try to using function in the sample for my own but it does not work and when I click on each field just that field in 1 second will be highlighted and entire row will not be highlighted.
Private Sub P_ForceHighLight() On Error Resume Next Dim ct As Control, ct1 As Control DoCmd.Echo False Set ct1 = ActiveControl For Each ct In Me.Detail.Controls ct.SetFocus
I have a form for adding new records. They are for people and I add in a bmp image of them. I want to create an automation. Where you press a button to add a photo. Find a jpeg you want. Then it is resized, converted to bmp and saved in the database. Is this easy enough to achieve? (size 256x188px)
I have two subforms on a main form. Both use similar queries and nearly the same set of records and PK. The first subform is for data entry and the 2nd subform is a continuous form that lists the entries in order that are made from the 1st Subform. (for entering in vacation days and appointments)
The continuous form cannot be edited, it is to be a list for viewing the information only.
I have an edit button next to each record on the continuous form. When the button is clicked, I want it to take the 1st subform to that specific record as well (same PK), so the information can be edited there.
I cannot figure out how to get the 1st subform to go to the record on the continuous form when the button next to that record is clicked on the continuous form.
I tried the DoCmdSearch for record and just keep getting object is not open errors.
i want to see the product image in my database as per my selection from listbox in "frm_MainForm" but it shows error no 2220. database file is attached.
It does show the image when i add it to the form "frm_PruductMaster" and search in "frm_MainForm" but only until i restart application. after restarting application it again shows error 2220. But it shows image name in the error. (i have tried with .bmp and .jpg as well).
