I have two tables :

Table 1: Mission_Id , Mission_Type, Customer_Name...
Table 2: Supporter_Name, Report_Date, Area, Unit, Issue_Type, Error_Status,Mission_Id

I have a form that the users enter data into and send a report each day. I would like that in a click of a button all the data I entered the day before and that have ="Open" will be entered into the tables with today's date. Is that possible?

I have 4 tables: Table1, Table2, TableA and TableB.

Table1 is effectively a master table with Table2 being a sub-table (one to many) with an appropriate linking field (lets call it 'MasterID'). TableA and Table B have the same relationship.

I have a form with Table1 as the source showing a subform listing all related records in Table2. There is a button on the master form that uses AddNew to create a record in TableA based on the data in Table1. I also want the button to add the appropriate number of records to TableB based on the linked records in Table2.

I cannot work out how to select the appropriate records only and add them to the table.

I have an existing Main form that has a sub form that the user uses to enter multiple records into a table....it works fine EXCEPT that I need to make it even easier and more intuitive and add a lot of labels. Basically the user selects items from a drop down list that adds items to a Work Order. I need to add some labels to the form to make it more descriptive for the user.

So, what I want to add multiple records using a single main form.

Is is possible to?:

1. simply turn the subform into a single main form? Can this be done by using a Command button or something similar?

2. copy all of the controls etc from the sub form into a new main form and have it all work nicely?

I am working with a database that deals with trailers. What is happening is a salesman takes an order for a make and model for a trailer for a customer. The customer can then add some customization to the trailer such as more tail lights or tie down straps. They add the customization on a form called frmCustomQuote. On frmCustomQuote there is a subform called sfQuoteConfigs. On sfQuoteConfigs there is fields such as category and sub catergory that get populated bases on what was selected.

On frmCustomQuote there is a button called "Copy Quote" this will allow the salesman to make an exact copy of the trailer and customization. The quotes are held in a table called tblQuotes and the customization is held in tbQuoteConfigs. Now my problem is when I click on Copy Quote it only copies the first record into tbQuoteConfigs. I can't figure out a way to tell my code to move to the next record within sfQuoteConfigs.

I have a form that allows a user to complete a stock take. I would like to stop other users from receiving or despatching stock while a stock take is in progress.

Is there a way I can lock a table, or stop users adding or altering records that match certain criteria. i.e. don't let users receive or despatch stock from with a locationID of 'A'.

In a situation where I imported an excel file with so many columns and split them into two temp tables and they are linked using a key.

the data has a fixed part lets say

Field1....Field2.....Filed3.....Field4...then Field5.....Field6.....Field7....Field8 is the same data range as Field9...Field10...Field11...Field12. I would want to split this data into multiple rows like this

Field 1 Field2 Field3 Field4 Field5 Field6 Field7 Field8
Field 1 Field2 Field3 Field4 Field9 field10 field11 field12 and so own...

What is the best approach?

I am building a simplified re-order point system - if inventory position drops below a certain level (the yellow level is this case) one or more purchase order lines has to be created in another table.

I have one table with the following field and data:

ItemId Red Yellow Green Multiple Inventory position
0001 10 30 50 5 45
0002 5 40 47 5 23
0003 11 20 30 10 5

I would like to generate new records (in another table) based on the above fields and three records.Basically the end result should look as the following:

ItemId Qty Start inv Aggregated inventory Prioritization
0002 5 23 28 Yellow
0002 5 28 33 Yellow
0002 5 33 38 Yellow
0002 5 38 43 Green
0002 5 43 48 Green
0003 10 5 15 Red

The logic is quite simple - if inventory position is less than the yellow value new order lines should be created in multiple qty (based on the multiple field) until the aggregated value (in table 2) is above the green value.The priotization value should be based on the start inv (in tbl 2) compared to the values in red, yellow and green in tbl 1.

I have a parent table (tblLabels) and a child table (tblRevision) where the revision history for the parent table is kept.

The parent table is populated via an excel import and may have several records imported at once. Instead of having the user manually enter a new record note in the child table for each record imported into the parent table, I've created a form that collects the necessary data (date, person who added the record, person who authorized the record, and notes) and then creates a revision history for each new record.

This is what I have so far:

When I run the code nothing happens. No error, no new records create, etc. My suspicion is that I may need to use an INSERT INTO query instead of an UPDATE query, but I'm not sure how to go about matching up the foreign keys if that's the case.

Need Help With Adding Multiple Records

I believe this can be done with a query, but am having problems with it.

What i have is a db with a table for employee another table for training items and a third table to tie them both together. These employees are divided into several "teams" (team 1, team 2 etc ...) The training items are assigned to some or all of the teams. ( i know that this is a many to many relationship and i believe that is where i get confused ) Now the problem. What i would like to do is have a form that will allow the user to assign a new training item to teams 4, 5 and 6 and have access automatically create a record in the table. Now that the 20 or so employees that are assigned these training items will have a record that the user can simply fill in a date when the training has been completed by the employee.

I believe what i am looking for is an append query. Is that right?? Have been playing with this one for awhile and have no luck so i would appreciate any help i can get on this one

Adding To Comments For Multiple Records

I have a comments on my form. I have contacts with them having from 1 to many customers accts. I am trying to come up with a way to update the comments for a contact that adds those comments to all their customers records...but not to those that have been closed.
How would I add these comments to the comments on the form without overwriting the current comments.

Tables :: Adding One Value To Multiple Records

I am new to Access here, and looking to start up a database that will contain data for thousands of footballers.

I have on one table ("Directory"), all 5000+ players, with nationalities, names etc, and on another ("Flags"), I have all nations of the world and their respective flags (as an attachment).

How do I add the flag of a players nation into the "Directory" table for each record? Is there a quick way? I've tried "Lookup" but it won't let me do it for images, I've tried "Relationships" but without success.....surely I don't have to go through the "add attachment" process for all 5000 records?

Adding Records To Multiple Tables Using One Form

OK I'm totally lost again.

What I want to do is;

Use one form to add records into several tables.

I have seperated my data into seperate tables and set up one to many relationships.

----------------

etc.

What i want to do is use one form to enter all this data into the different tables.

There can only be one record in tblIncident that can match multiple records in the other tables.

i.e. for each record in tblIncident, I want to be able to have the capability to have as many persons related to that incident as I need.

I was thinking about setting up a tabctl for the data that has to be entered for tblIncident and then change the property setting for it to go away and then have the next tabctl appear in it's place for entering data into the next table. The problem I am having is that apparently I can only have one table as the control source for the form.

So next I tried using subforms, but that isn't working either. I can't figure out how to make the subform appear in a specific place on my form, sized in specific dimensions I want where I want.

I am just starting to learn about this relationships stuff and it's kind of difficult. How do you make it where you can do this from one form? Do I need to make a query of some sort?

Any help is appreciated.

Hi forum, I have this database with a main form and 5 subfoms. For the Address Subform, I need to add multiple addresses for each person I add. How we currently do it is enter the multiple addresses per person, one at a time. Is there an easier way to do this.

For eg: Id Last Name First Name

Address 3

3.)Teacher
4.)Pupil

Now the "User" table has the ff. fields: ID(auto num),FName,MName,LName,User,Pass,Type.

Now what I want to do is, if I add a new a record in the table "User" and if the record has the data "Admin" in the field "Type" then the record should also be saved in the table "Admin" but if the data is "Teacher" or "Pupil" then it should be also saved in their respective tables.

Question is: Is that possible? If yes, then how??

I have a form with 15 unbound text boxes (daily temperatures) and what I am trying to do after entering the temperatures into the text boxes the user clicks an add button which will add 15 new records into the temperature table

the code I have started off with is

which adds 1 successfully however if i repeat the code above for all 15 this Im assumming will create a potential bottleneck and slow the system down

is it possible to add all 15 records at once? do you think Im going at this the right way

I have button the when pressed will insert a record (via an insert into query) to the frmMain and several records to the frmSub.The problem is when a new record is created in the main form the auto number primary key advances. This is fine however the linked Child field which is a foreign key of the main form is not added and the value is blank. I thought this would happen automatically and the Master field would force the child field to be update but this is not happening.Do I have to determine the max number used in the auto number then add 1 to it?

The goal I am trying to accomplish using VBA within Access 2010 is to append/add certain records to another database (Customer Service) from my database (Client Request). I tried using a macro to append then update records in my database but there is a "lag" time as to when the information is updated in the 'Customer Service' database causing my updates not to occur.

Here is the SQL from my query:

INSERT INTO Issues ( Customer, Title, [Due Date], [Opened By], [Opened Date], Priority, Comments, [Job Number], Description )

I have got a received form that has 2 subforms.

The main form is based on Received Table

The 1st subform is based on a query that shows the order detail and how many units are outstanding.

The 2nd subform is based on a receivedDetail table. so will have a list of items with the original order qty, and the qty still outstanding.

When the main form loads i want it to create new records into the 2nd subform based on the 1st Subform.

so the 1st and 2nd subform run parallel with each other and appear to be as one to the user.

both subforms are continuous style.

Adding New Records To Table Based On Values In Another Table?

I'm developing a database for the hospital I work in. One purpose of this is to keep track of patients with temporary invasive devices (there are many types such as urinary catheters, ventilators, etc.), specifically how many days each patient has a device for. Each device is associated with one patient only, but one patient may have many devices. Here's how the associated tables are set up:

1. tblPatients - PatientID (PK), LastName, FirstName, DOB,...
2. tblLocations - LocationID (PK), LocationLabel,....
3. tblDevices - DeviceID (PK), DeviceType, Device, DeviceDesc
4. tblDeviceUse - DeviceUseID (PK), DeviceID (FK), PatientID (FK), LocationID (FK) (where in the hospital was device inserted, e.g., operating room, bedside, etc.), DeviceStartDate, DeviceEndDate
5. tblDeviceDailyLog - DeviceLogID (PK), DeviceUseID (FK), DeviceDate, PatientLocID (FK) (area in the hospital that patient is in)

All primary keys except for PatientID & LocationID are Autonumbers; and the tables are linked appropriately.

Whenever an entry is made into tblDeviceUse, I want there to be new records to be automatically generated in tblDeviceDailyLog for each date between the Start and End Dates. For example, patient A123 had a urinary catheter from 1/1/2000 to 1/10/2000 that was inserted while the patient was in the ICU, but the patient was moved to the Medical Ward on 1/7/2000. So tblDeviceDailyLog should have 10 new records associated with this device, one for each calendar day, with the appropriate location for each day.

I was wondering if is possible to add a series of records that are in serquence to a table by just entering the first and last numbers. For example a string of numbers starting at TP11000 and ending at TP11100, the prefix TP doesn't change. Currently I have to enter every one manually, so any help would be much appreciated!

I am new to Access and have the following problem. I have one table which displays Skills (memo field) a second table which displays a skill rating ( 5 choices) and a third table which list the jobs in the company. I need to compile a fourth table which lists the skills required for each job and the corresponding ratings. I would like to have a Form in which I select the job and all 560 skills are displayed in datasheet format and I can select the ones required and allocate a skill rating. The results should then be saved to the new Table.

Any ideas as to how to acheive this task.

Adding Records Directly To A Table.

Here is basically what I have and what I need to do:

I have a form with several text boxes which are going to be filled in. Clicking on a button at the bottom of the form will save this information into a table (the table associated with the form). However, it also needs to fill in a junction table with two known values derived from these text boxes.

I have FILE_NUMBER_CD and INSPECTOR_NUMBER_CD that are the only attributes in the table called "XREF_FILE_INSPECTOR" which need to be added as new records.

So basically, what I need to know is how do I add known values derived from a textbox directly into a table.
