Modules & VBA :: AfterUpdate Event - Multivalued Field?

I have a form with (among others) a Y/N field and a multivalued field. The Y/N field indicates whether or not the resident is year-round or not (seasonal/snowbird). The multivalued field contains the months the resident it here. The user wants me to auto-select all months in the multivalued vield when the year-round field is set to yes in order to minimize data entry.
I have been trying to use an AfterUpdate Event using the following syntaxes as a test but Access doesn't like the format at all:
[Master Table].[Months Available].[Value] = "June" (this gives 2465 error)
Me ! [Months Available].[Value] = "June" (this gives a 424 error)
I'm not at all fluent with VBA but have been successful in populating form fields using data fields in another table so thought this would be similar.
Any way other than not to use multivalued fields? Because that isn't an option.

I'm trying to place an if statement in an afterupdate event on a form. The code I have is
Code:
If [Customer] Like "BRO001" And [Inv No] is null Then [Job_Price] = [Shots] * 27.5
this gives me a run time error, object required and highlights
Code:
If [Customer] Like "BRO001" And [Inv No] Is Null Then
I'd like the code to do nothing where the requirements to alter the job price are not met.

The main form has textbox & a Listbox with which I filtered a datasheet inside a sub form. Everything worked fine only the listbox [Discipline] is not working !! it cuase Run-time error: 3831 - The multi-valued field "[Category]" cannot be used in a WHERE or HAVING clause.
So how do I filter a multivalued Listbox field [Discipline] ?

Hi. i am very thankful for all your help in my other queries for my database. i have one last question and i guess i will be done after that. i have a form which have 3 fields one is Number and the other is group and the next one is Account. all of them are combo boxes. I am trying to add this function in the Number field text box properties in afterupdate event which is as follow

The code is working fine. i debug it and run it no errors. i want to put this function in afterupdate. i copied this whole thing in the afterupdate box and when i go back to my control form try to enter numbers in the Number field it gives me this
Msaccess can't find the macro "private sub Mynumber" the macro or its macrogroup does not exist or the macro is new but has'nt been saved.
Can anyone help me out what i am doing wrong ? or can tell me steps what to do i really appreciate that and thanks alot FONZ :)

Hello,
I have an "After Update" event procedure for a field on a form that calls a VBA sub. When I use a different VBA sub to input a value in the above mentioned field, the "After Update" event does not occur, even thought the data in the field has been changed. (Of course if I manually enter the data, the field "After Update" event works.)
Is there a flag or condition that needs to be set in my VBA sub to let the field realize that it has been changed? Or possible a way to call the fields AfterUpdate Sub?
I tried having a my sub call the AfterUpdate sub to see what would happen, but didn't get it to work. I got a bunch of error and didn't feel like this was really the way to go.
I also could just duplicate all the code in the AfterUpdate sub for the field, but we all know that that is not a good idea.

I have structured a subform as a datasheet to allow users to copy and paste from Excel into the database. Datasheet has numerous fields and 18 rows. I have set up recalculations of other data in the AfterUpdate event of the fields in the datasheet. This works perfectly until the user copies multiple rows from Excel and pastes them (one column at a time) into the datasheet.
Is there an event I can capture when the user copies and pastes a column?

So I have a bound form with the following onload code:

This works fine and set the caption and color of a label on this form.On this form I have several (now only a few, but in the end probably 40 controls or so) which will get updated by the user. When any of these controls are updated, I want the label lblpercentCompleted to get updated with the propper caption and color, however I am having trouble doing this.
I have an afterupdate event on each control with the same code as the onload code, however the message box below appears but the label does not update.

When I pass a value from MyTextBox to MyComboBox using:
Me.MyTextBox = Me.MyComboBox
It does Not trigger the AfterUpdate Event of the ComboBox
I need it to! Any Suggestions??
I have tried: copy and pasting by but that creates a problem

was just trying something
What I'd really like to do is eliminate MyTextBox and pass the Variable
directly to MyComboBox:
Me.MyComboBox= BarCodeData$
And have it force the AfterUpdate Event of MyComboBox

Can the result of a combo-box be used in text in an AfterUpdate event?
Example, the combo-box (Result) can be negative or positive. If it is negative a textbox is populated with the test is (combo-box here)?

I have a form with 7 types of weights (7 textbox rows) showing 7 weights in kgs and the others in lbs.When the user update any weight-kgs textbox, the opposite weight-lbs textbox will be updated automatically, and viceversa.Now, I'd like a fast way to code this action without writing the After Update_event for every textbox (they're 14).I have already setup textbox tags differently with "WeightKGS" and "WeightLBS", thinking about using "for each ... next" statement, but I have some problems to resolve what I want.

I have an access db that is linked to a sharepoint list (the list originated in Access).I tried a simple select query with parameters to search for by id and another query of the same table to search by date.They both come back with the same error of "cannot reference a table with a multivalued field using an IN clause that refers to another database"Iv'e gone through the table and these fields that the query is using and none seem to have any multivalues.

Why update query isn't working when trying to update an multivalued field. In this table, there are 647 records and only 9 of which already have a value set in the "AssociatedProject" field. More than one AssociatedProject is associated with a vendor, so this field allows for multiple entries. I've looked at all the information on update queries and updating a multivalued field, but it will only update the existing 9 records. It does not recognize the remaining ones (they have no values yet).
Here's the SQL:
UPDATE Tbl_Vendor SET Tbl_Vendor.AssociatedProject.[Value] = 3
WHERE (((Tbl_Vendor.AssociatedProject.Value) Is Null));

I'm creating a Form called Pharmacy where I can select a [Diagnosis] from a combo box in the form. This combo box source references a table called tblDiagnosis where each Diagnosis also has a multi-valued field called [Indications].
The Pharmacy form also has a multi-select listbox with all possible Indications. I would like to write a VBA code such that when a Diagnosis is selected, the Indications for that Diagnosis are automatically selected/highlighted in the listbox on the form as well.
As such, by selecting a Diagnosis, all the indications attached to that Diagnosis will automatically be selected; however, if additional indications are needed, they can still be selected afterward.
I know that there is a function Me!Listbox.Selected(i) = True, where i is the row of the entry in the listbox. However, the i in the listbox does not correspond to the ID of the Indication. I think that if there is a way to select listbox items by name, that would be much more efficient.
The reason I have a listbox, is because this listbox of Indications then references another table called tblDrugs where all drugs that are approved for the selected indications selected are filtered and displayed.

I have a form with a field called "CCN" and what I need to do is have some sort of code that will look at the table "Application Data - NE" and check to see if there are any duplicate records for that CCN on the "AfterUpdate" function and if so; spit out an error message saying "CCN already exist; please try another".
Does anyone have any ideas on how to code this?
I know how to do the custom error message; I am just not sure how to have it check for duplicates before the rest of the form can be updated/before the record is saved.

I have a form and a subform
Which method should I use if I need to update automaticaly a field in form based on an event in subform ?
Just to be more clear, have a look in the below example.
In first print screen, student "Johnson Nick" has not completed all tests in TestA subform, the form field "DateCompleteA" is blanc.
Once a student completes all tests in Period A, I need the form field DateCompleteA to show the date that he completed the last one. (18/3/2015).
If student has not yet completed all tests in TestA subform the Form field DateCompleteA must be blanc.
Student has not completed "literature"yet, DateCompletA field is blanc
Student completed ALL his test, subform is updated, Form field DateCompletA is updated with the maximum date.

I have an afterupdate event that is supposed to send an email when a box is updated. Most of the times the code works fine except for one case.
The code checks the value of a field in subform in another tab of the same form
Code:
'find the MSM date
[Forms]![Project Main]![Marketing Specialist Main]![MSMDate].SetFocus
MSMDate = Nz([Forms]![Project Main]![Marketing Specialist Main]![MSMDate].value, "__-___-__")
This field (MSMDate) keeps its value in a separate table.
The problem comes when there is no value in this other table for the given project. If this is the case, the subform does not even appear on the main form (it is all a grey box) and the Setfocus returns an error.
I tried to comment the setfocus line to see what the NZ function would do in the next line and it also returns an error.
It is almost as if the subform was not "initialized" for that particular record...
How can I account for those cases?

Hi all.
Benn looking through other posts and have found some things which look quite similar but nothing which answers the question simply enough for my standard!
Basically I have a form with 5 fields...Number, Name, Location, Date and Owner.
All fields are locked apart from Location and Date.
I have a combo box which lists the field "Number" and then displays the record's data. The aim of the form is to be able to update the Location field easily.
A user entering the form would use the combo box to select say number "3243". This would bring up record number 3243. The date displayed would be the last updated date. Currently 23/08/05. I am trying desperately to get the Date to refresh to the current date as soon as someone changes the "Location" field. I have tried putting in the AfterUpdate part of Location...Me.Date.Requery.
I feel that I may be well off track but that the answer I require is not too difficult. Please could someone advise?!?!

Think I've sorted it now everyone!!
My code looks like this, seems to do the trick.

Someone fills in a new patient into the database, and the 'chipsoftnummer' which is the number in another database. That number is unique, so i want to have it where if someone fills in a number that already exists in the database the afterupdate event will open that record in the form.Here's the code i put in the input textbox update field:

I have a combo box, 'Type' that has two values - "Instrument" and "Equipment".Another combo box control, 'Criticality', has an Enabled = False value set OnCurrent.
When the user selects "Equipment", Criticality goes Enabled = True and when OnUpdate to "Instrument", Criticality goes Enabled = False.The Criticality field correctly displays and switches off if someone selects Instrument.
However, if someone puts a value in whilst Type is set to "Equipment" and then Type is reset to "Instrument" and in the meantime the user has selected a value for Criticality, the value stays 'stuck' in the Criticality box, despite the field being disabled. It is a bound field.How do I purge any contents stored in Criticality when the field is disabled? I presume it's something like an SQL statement to set the value to null, but I'm not quite certain.

Here is my problem
In namefield_AfterUpdate, I check for duplicate name entries and notify the user if any are found - they are prompted as to whether the duplicate was accidental or intentional and continue working. This works fine for normal circumstances.
However, if the user updates namefield so that the value is a duplicate of an existing name in the database, but then presses Cancel (or Delete), then the namefield_AfterUpdate is fired and what button they pressed. The button Click code does not run first.
How can I tell if the user updated the name, but then realized they didn't want to save, and then clicked 'Cancel' (or any button) and the code should really skip the duplicate check validations/messages?
