Modules & VBA :: Checking For Blank Textboxes (Variables)
Mar 2, 2015
I want to check to see if ALL textboxes are blank, then issue a message. My "Select Case" statement and "If" statement does not work. How can I accomplish this ? Below is what I have.
Blank = Null
Select Case Blank
Case strChartOfAccts1,
strChartOfAccts2, strChartOfAccts3, strChartOfAccts4, strChartOfAccts5 & _
I will try and keep this brief. I have a paragraph of text, I have to paste it into a system which allows me 75 characters in a line and 208 in a page.
I have code which creates text boxes dynamically based on the total amount of characters/208 - this gives me how many textboxes need creating. I also have code which then populates those textboxes 208 characters at a time. I now need to alter it so it puts a line break every 75 characters.
Code: Private Sub btnsubmit_Click() DoCmd.OpenForm "NoteForm", acDesign Dim x As Integer Dim ctrl As Control Dim y As Integer
[Code] ....
So I've achieved almost what I want, I just need to amend it so it starts a new line after every 75 characters...
When UseDDelivery is checked the three textboxes should be disable and when the form is opened UseDDelivery is set to be checked by default so the textboxes should be disabled when the form opens but they aren't. the two different ways of doing it are shown below.
Elements specific to my system :UseDDelivery = checkbox AltDeliveryAddress = textbox1 AltDeliveryTown = textbox 2 AltdeliveryPostcode = textbox3 Solution 1:
This is a bit of vba a friend wrote for me quickly, it includes all three textboxes but the checkbox enables them instead of disables.
solution 2:
Code: Private Sub UseDDelivery_AfterUpdate() If AltDeliveryAddress.Enabled = True Then AltDeliveryAddress.Enabled = False Else AltDeliveryAddress.Enabled = True End If End Sub
With this bit of vba I found the checkbox enables the textbox instead of disabling it and I can't figure out how to include the other two textboxes
In Access 2007, I'm using labels as buttons because they can be made pretty. Since labels can't have focus, the focus is not shifted from whatever textbox users are in on button press. The value in that textbox is not considered updated when the macro runs, and things get messy from there.
I had been using a setfocus between two textboxes to work around this, but that seems like a copout. I now have a simple form with just a textbox and a button, so this seems like a good time to learn the right way to do this.
I need to add trim to all text boxes in my database. Any easier way than to add it to the afterupdate event of every text box or a complete list of all trims on buttons that save the records?
I want to know a way of populating unbound textboxes with data from a table without using the easy assigning data in the property of the box. I want it to be all done with code, which to me isnt a huge deal but I've yet to find answers on the web pertaining to this issue.
for example:
Say i was searching a primary key in one box and based on what ever is typed in i'd like it to populate the rest of the textboxes.
I'm trying to write some simple code to see whether two check boxes (named cbM001 and cbM011) have been checked and if so, then send out an error message. So far I have tried:
If cbM001 Is False And cbM011 Is True Then MsgBox "M011 cannot be selected unless M001has also been chosen." Exit Sub
[Code].....
With this I get "Run-time error 424: object require"
I have a code which cut the data from tables and insert to others. The problem is I don't know when I can do this process (when I will cut data and the same time some users lock editing records then I will get an an error). So my question is, there is some procedure which can check that some records in table are locked or not?
I have multiple reports that use similar IIF statements as the controlsource for four textboxes. Naturally, I don't want to have to update twelve controlsources if any of the calculations change, so I thought I'd make this a public function. However, I don't know how to pass along multiple textboxes as variables. Here's what I have so far:
Code: Option Compare Database Public Function txtColor(ByRef textbox As Control) Dim str1, str2, str3, str4 As String 'The IIf statement is simplified for this example. It's not important. str1 = "=IIf(IsNull([Inquiry start date]),'W',IIf([txtInquiry]<1 And IsNull([Inquiry end date]),'R'))"
[Code] ....
And this is in the report (where ??? is what I'm asking about)
Code: Private Sub Report_Load() Call txtColor(???) End Sub
I have a form with mandatory fields highlighted a different colour (yellow or blue). On the form are 3 tab pages with subforms which also have these fields.
I have added a checkbox named incomplete to each tab page and to the form. My intention is to try to write some code to look at each field on the page and if the non-white (ie mandatory) fields all have a value, then the incomplete on that page is changed to no. The code then checks the incomplete value for all 3 pages - if these are all no and the form's mandatory fields are also filled in, then this also becomes no.
When creating reports, I can then find out which records have not been completed and notify the relevant staff. Also if the data is incomplete, they don't want those records appearing in reports - so I can use the incomplete value from the form.
I'm using Access 2013. I want to check duplicate data. I have a form where from insert data into table but before insertion I want check multiple criteria with form. How can I do this
Field are: BatchID BillNum CIH IH
back end form code is:
Private Sub cmdCheck_Click() Dim criteria As String criteria = "[BatchID]=" & Me.cboBatchID & " AND [BillNum]=" & Me.txtBillNum & " AND [CIH]=" & Me.txtCIH & " AND [IH]=" & Me.txtIH & ""
[Code] ....
Finally I'm getting this error: Run Time Error 3075 Syntax Error Missing Operator in qry Expr.
I am trying to check if a record exists, but I keep getting a error!!!
Private Sub Command10_Click() If DCount("*", "tbl", "[ID] = "") <> 0 Then MsgBox "This record already exists. Else stDocName1 = "McrAddNewRecord" DoCmd.RunMacro stDocName1 End If End Sub
I have a button on a form and I want the On Click event behind it to check whether Shift is also being pressed when the user clicks the button (or Ctrl, or Alt, in fact any damn key will do).
I can't believe that there isn't a function in VBA like the old 1980s BASIC 'inkey' function (etc) that just simply returns the code of any key being held down at the time of the scan. I shouldn't have to mess around programming other events like KeyDown and KeyUp when I don't particularly need the key-press to trigger an event per se.
I'm trying to get a spell check to work on a text box on a form. i've got it popping the spell check window after the box has been updated but i'd prefer it to just highlight the errors in red, rather than pop the spell check box. another problem i'm having is when it's finished spell checking the box it moves the form back to the first record. this is the code i'm using.
Code:
Private Sub txt_notes_AfterUpdate() If Len(Me!txt_notes & "") > 0 Then DoCmd.SetWarnings False DoCmd.RunCommand acCmdSpelling DoCmd.SetWarnings True Else Exit Sub End If End Sub
The following code doesn't check null condition in Scannedby field. The scannedby has text data type. The code gives me all the data where scandate=20130722 but doesn't check that scanned by can't be blank.
Code: rs.Open "select count(*) from BatchTBL2 where scandate=20130722 and scannedby <> null", cn, adOpenKeyset, adLockOptimistic j = rs.fields(0).Value
Im a relative novice with access VBA, and I'm really struggling with using Dcount with date variable. All I want to do is count if a certain date appears in a table. Here is the extract from my code:
Whatever dates are in tblworkoutlogs, datecount is still = 0...I've trawled the net and tried many variations of the code but no success!if I change all the date formats to strings in the code and the tables, it works so I know i'm looking in the correct place.
I have a public sub routine which requires parameters to be passed to it when I call it from an access form. When I try to enter the code to call the sub I get a compile error. I've also tried calling it from another sub in the same module but get the same compile error - see below.
Code: Sub EmailData(Datafile As String, To_mail As String, CC_mail As String, Subject_mail As String) 'code to use variables passed in End Sub
I am trying to set up some template emails using text someone has entered in a form with a variable indicated with a key word in brackets aka. [ChangeID] or [ChangeDate]. The field on the form is formatted as Rich Text so I am getting http code. (No problems yet) In the form the template is required, I lookup the template required and I get the string. I replace the brackets with the following
I need to set some 'global' variables with default values when my Access 2007 database is loaded. Depending on the user etc these values may be modifed after Access starts but defaults need to be set.
I declared the variables as 'Public' in a Module, then put a function in the same Module (to set the default values) then tried to call the function from an "AutoExec" macro, so it's the first thing that runs when Access loads. The macro throws an error - it can't 'find' the function(?)
I have been tasked to create a multi-keyword search form, however, my form isn't working right and only the first record of the table is opened.
Code: Public Sub txtSearch_AfterUpdate() Dim strWhere As String Dim strWord As String Dim varKeywords As Variant Dim i As Integer Dim IngLen As Long
[Code] .....
These are the codes that I am using for my search form. I have a feeling that I am not calling the variable from the after update portion the right way.
