I have and access form that has a list box with dates in it. I need to pick a date and then run a stored procedure in SQL based on that date. Can someone help me with the login to pass on the date?
So if I have listbox1 which is a list of dates from another table and my procedure is simply
select * from main where date = *******
How can I pass the list box value to the stored procedure? My procedure works with WHERE date = (SELECT(LEFT(GETDATE(),11))) but I have since learned that todays date will not always be used so I need to pass a value.
I'm working on and Access 2003 front end with a SQL Server Back End. I would like to take advantage of the speed of Stored Procs to populate a list box on a form. Here's the code I'm trying to use.
Set cmd = MakeStoredProc("StoredProcName") Set prm1 = cmd.CreateParameter("ParamName", adInteger, adParamInput, , Me![ID]) cmd.Parameters.Append prm1 rstSource.CursorLocation = adUseClient rstSource.CursorType = adOpenKeyset rstSource.LockType = adLockOptimistic Set rstSource = cmd.Execute
Me![ListBox].Recordset = rstSource
Access doesn't like this. What is wrong. I get the message "Object doesn't support the property or method"
on my form i have two unbound combo boxes and an unbound listbox. when i delete or go to a new record these still contain the data from the previous record. what is the code to clear them? have looked through the propeties and there is no useful 'clear' event that i can see. cheers!
Hi Everyone again, (i'll try my best to explain) (Sorry if it doesn't make sense)
I have a main form - everything on the formn is linked to the User ID
I have created a List box1 which contains many selection. (Lets say a menu for food) Once one item has been selected i have a button which adds the selected choice to another List Box2 this can be repeated to show Every item the client has selected.
I have linked both List Boxes to the User ID
This all works fine, it reconises the user IDs on every record but i would like the List Box2 to be clear instead of holding all the previous records data when a new record is created.
I have a question regarding the display of a list of numbers that are stored into a field of my database. Currently the numbers are comma-delineated which is fine with me, but I was wondering if there is a way to change the display of those numbers on the form so that it is easier to read.
Example:
current format - 1,2,3,4,7,8,9,10 desired format - 1-4, 7-10
I'm having an issue getting a return value from a stored procedure that I'm calling from VBA. This is what I have at the moment:
Code: Dim strDate As String Dim strWOStatus As String Dim CurrentConnection As ADODB.Connection Dim adoCMD As ADODB.Command Dim adoRS As ADODB.Recordset Dim ParamReturn As ADODB.Parameter
[Code] .....
The problem I am having is this error: Error: 424 Description: Object Required
The line of code it errors on is:
Code: Set .Parameters("@PartsUSedMTD").Value = ParamReturn
And the value of ParamReturn is always Null after it hits the line before it.
So it seems like it's not really creating the parameter variable SQL Server needs to run
How would I update all SQL stored within all forms to change its syntax?I am returning all the row-sources for all the comboboxes on all forms in an Access db. Most work fine but some have syntax errors, for example double quotes instead of single. Is there any way of finding these stored SQL statements and updating them on mass, as I am doing it manually at the moment!
I defined a public variable and then for being able to filter a query results, assigned it to a public function. The problem is that function doesn't get the variable's value.
I have code for calling stored procedure with parameters, which is as follows
Dim qdf As DAO.QueryDef, rst As DAO.Recordset Dim IdValueToProcess As Long
IdValueToProcess = 221177 ' test data Debug.Print (IdValueToProcess) Set qdf = CurrentDb.CreateQueryDef("")
[Code] ....
And my stored procedure is
Code: ALTER PROCEDURE [dbo].[spItemDesc] @ItemNo varchar(200) , AS BEGIN set nocount on ; select ProductDesc1,ProductDesc2 from ProductDatabase.dbo.tblProductInfo where ProductNumber = @ItemNo END
using Ms access 2010.I have two text boxes where depending on what is entered on the first the 2nd disabled.that works fine but if I make a mistake and enters a value on the 2nd while it is enabled and return back to the first and enters a value which disable the 2nd, it disable it ok but keeps the value and even save it to the table.
Private Sub q300_AfterUpdate() If Me.q300 = "1" Then Me.q300_1.Text = "" Me.q300_1.Enabled = False Me.q301.SetFocus Else Me.q300_1.Enabled = True End If End Sub
I have got a form with a couple of dlookups on it, when they return an error it pops the debug message up and if there is a value in the field already it just leaves that value there.
How can I suppress the message and clear the field and move on to the next line of code?
Following concerns about someone accidentally deleting the access database we have been using to crunch performance numbers, I have successfully moved the data on to an SQL server
While the database works as it is, several of the queries are running extremely slow. I therefore decided to see if a stored procedure could run the number crunching on the server instead of passing the data back and forth all the time.
I have taken the series of queries and converted them into a stored procedure that runs too fast for me to blink while giving the same results as before.
The problem I face is that I can trigger the stored procedure from the server management studio manually while supplying the variables needed thus providing the data I need to export to excel in a table for this purpose.
What I want to do is to have a form in access supply the chosen variables (like I could before) and run the stored procedure at the click of a button as part of a series of other queries.
I have looked at pass-through queries but apparently they do not take kindly to variables unless they are hardcoded. The other solution would be to trigger it from VBA but I have not been able to find a solution I could get to work.
How to run a stored procedure on an SQL server from access while also giving it the variables it needs?
Stored procedure name: spNearMissCalculation Variables: @SelectedDate (date format) (taken from a form field) @SelectedVessel (nvarchar(max) format) (taken from a form field) @SelectedVesselGroup (nvarchar(max) format) (taken from a form field)
I'm currently making an Experience Statement for my company. In one of the forms I've created I an Industry sort that is weighted and connected to a table so that it'll show a report based on the numbers provided IE. 1-5 One being shown first and a blank statement not showing on the report at all.
I have the report function working correctly the only thing I would like is a cmd button that clears sort table of numbers so that it doesn't show anything and can start fresh. What VBA code shall I use?
I was thinking something along the lines of this, but it's not working.
Dim s as String s = "UPDATE All_Projects_Sort_Table SET Industry Sort = Null;" CurrentDb.Execute s Requery
I have had to copy a column of dates to a new column to extract the month and be able to make subtotals based on each month. Now I am trying to tidy up the column by removing all the cells containing the month and leave behind the subtotals.
I have got a little way there using:
lastrow2 = Range("A1").End(xlDown).Row With Range("A1:A" & lastrow2) Set RngFnd = .Find(Total). Set rngDelete = .ColumnDifferences(Comparison:=RngFnd) rngDelete.ClearContents
But it only clears the cells down to the first subtotal so how can I get this carry on?
Alternatively I could use code to find the subtotal, and then cut and paste it into the next column over if that would be easier?
I have an append query that adds data to a table in another database, but I want it to replace the data every time it's run. How do I clear the data before running the append query? The databases are not linked, and I don't want them linked.
I have two different database files. One is 2010 ".accdb" format where I have created a form and the inputs to the form is getting saved as records to an access.mdb file in a shared path. Now if the users want to edit the existing record I should allow them to search their previously submitted record with a unique ID number.
I know it is possible when we have both the form and table in the same db. But I want to know whether it is possible to search with a unique ID and pull the data from different db in a shared path using a command button?
I've put the following Function together to clear out unwanted bits before exporting as csv. I was just wondering if there's a way of holding the table names together with a total count of each item replaced? I wasn't sure if these were stored and could be returned?
Code: Public Function ClearCommas() On Error GoTo ClearErr Dim db As DAO.Database Dim tb As DAO.TableDef Dim fld As DAO.Field
I am trying to clear a textbox after the user enters an invalid date and I do not know why the following code is not working:
Private Sub txtStart_AfterUpdate() If Not IsNull(Me.txtStart) Then If Not IsDate(Me.txtStart) Then MsgBox "You have not entered a valid date" Me.txtStart = Null Me.txtStart.SetFocus End If End If End Sub
I would like to open an Excel workbook from MS Access and clear cell contents, or just delete some records in a specific worksheet.
If you open the test workbook, cell contents in RAW need to be deleted by calling from Access.
I have produced some code but it's partially working.
Code: Sub TestFileOpened() ' Test to see if the file is open. If IsFileOpen("test.xls") Then ' Display a message stating the file in use. MsgBox "File already in use!"
[Code] ....
If you put this in a standard module in access, the function works, but the part that doesn't work is where it says "activesheet". It somehow tries to recognize it as a variable, but it's not going to be a variable.
I'm trying to search a for string within a subform to find information stored on the mainform to which the particular subform belongs.
The problem is that the subform is generated from a query which uses a number from the main form to generate.
So the subform record is only generated when the correct mainform record associated with it is loaded.
Now to solve my problem I've made a new query that brings up ALL the results that could be generated by the main form and from that I can search to find my search term I'm after and read off the ID number to tie it back to the mainform.
But all of this is done manually, I want a way to do all this using VBA in a way that the user can't edit any records as they are doing it.
