Modules & VBA :: Clear Data From Table In Another Database
May 13, 2015
I have an append query that adds data to a table in another database, but I want it to replace the data every time it's run. How do I clear the data before running the append query? The databases are not linked, and I don't want them linked.

I'm currently making an Experience Statement for my company. In one of the forms I've created I an Industry sort that is weighted and connected to a table so that it'll show a report based on the numbers provided IE. 1-5 One being shown first and a blank statement not showing on the report at all.
I have the report function working correctly the only thing I would like is a cmd button that clears sort table of numbers so that it doesn't show anything and can start fresh. What VBA code shall I use?
I was thinking something along the lines of this, but it's not working.
Dim s as String
s = "UPDATE All_Projects_Sort_Table SET Industry Sort = Null;"
CurrentDb.Execute s
Requery
Attached are some images ...

Thanks for considering my question. I have developed a DB with about 60 tables, all related by one-to-many relationships. During development, I placed values in the tables, generated keys, etc. so things have gotten quite cluttered. Is there a way (vb program, access method, etc.) that I can use to remove all the entries from the table, and essentially start with a set of clean tables and no keys? I'd like to be able to run this from a control on a form.

Is it possible to clear the cotents from various records but only the values in one column. Like let's say I just want the delete the values in the Price column for a range of about 6000 records. Not the whole records just those price values.
I can't seem to find a way to do this without sitting there and pushing down and backspace over and over again.
thanks,
joëlle

I searched the forum and couldn't find a thread to answer my question so here goes . . .
I have a form to lookup item number information. The user enters the item number and clicks on a "refresh" button to view information related to the item. Also the user can edit some of the fields using text boxes and a save command button.
I want to create a "clear" button which the user will click that will clear all of the data off the form before going to the next item. The form is bound to a table so I do not want to delete the data in the table, only clear the form. I have read that the form can be cleared by advancing to a new record. However, we do not want the user to create new records from this form. If you can tell me how to prevent the user from creating a new record, then the "advance to a new record" method could be a solution. I welcome any other ideas that you have to clear the form.
Thanks for you help,
Jeff

I've created and tested my database. What step or steps do I take now to make it so it's a program that only shows the forms and menu's I created, not all the Tables, Queries etc and the formatting options? Is there a link that explains what to do step by step?

I have got a form with a couple of dlookups on it, when they return an error it pops the debug message up and if there is a value in the field already it just leaves that value there.
How can I suppress the message and clear the field and move on to the next line of code?

K,
I'm new here and I have a question:
In my db I have a yes/no tick, now I want to create a button that clears out all the ticks in that specific column, possible?
To clarify:
I have an address db with an gift table (tbl_gift) and a yes/no parameter for, lets say, 'did they gave me a present with christmas?' (col_gift).
Naturally I want to clear their records before next christmas, now instead of going through all the records and remove the tick, is there a fast-one-button-click solution for this?
Thanks in advance!
Paul

My data entry form has a button that allows the record to be saved. However, after saving the record, the form doesn't allow a new record to be added. The new form just sits there with the previously entered information in it. How do I go to a new record?

Hi!!All,
I'm completely new to Access and would greatly appreciate your help in this problem.
I have a form name frmDataEntry with 10 fields, which enters data through an append query in Access. Firstly I was wondering whether I could do mutiple data entries, say 5 different entries of 10 fields each at the same time? Secondly, I wanted the form to clear all the entries after the user has submitted the data(I have made a submit button for this). I would greatly appreciate it if you could help me overcome these problems.
Thanks a lot,
Vakul

I have had to copy a column of dates to a new column to extract the month and be able to make subtotals based on each month.Now I am trying to tidy up the column by removing all the cells containing the month and leave behind the subtotals.
I have got a little way there using:
lastrow2 = Range("A1").End(xlDown).Row
With Range("A1:A" & lastrow2)
Set RngFnd = .Find(Total).
Set rngDelete = .ColumnDifferences(Comparison:=RngFnd)
rngDelete.ClearContents
But it only clears the cells down to the first subtotal so how can I get this carry on?
Alternatively I could use code to find the subtotal, and then cut and paste it into the next column over if that would be easier?

I've put the following Function together to clear out unwanted bits before exporting as csv. I was just wondering if there's a way of holding the table names together with a total count of each item replaced? I wasn't sure if these were stored and could be returned?
Code:
Public Function ClearCommas()
On Error GoTo ClearErr
Dim db As DAO.Database
Dim tb As DAO.TableDef
Dim fld As DAO.Field
[Code] .....

I am calling a stored proc and passing some params (sql). i need to loop through the execute a few times though before I kill the connection.
I am getting an error saying there are too many params on the second run through. What i need is to clear the param list once it's executed once.
Is this possible or to i need to keep killing the conn then re-connecting to the db?

There are two tabs named Table1 and Table2. In actual there are two tables in Access database named Table1 and Table2. How the data is stored in ACcess tables, I have made two tabs in excel workbook. Now I want Access VBA code that will check if data in Reference field of Table1 matches with any of the data in Reference field of Table2.
If it matches then change the status of the corresponding record of Table2 with either "Withdrawn","Obsolete" or "Updated". SO it depends upon which field out of "WIthdrawn","Obsolete" and "Updated" in Table1 stores "Y". At a time only one of them will have "Y" and rest of two fields will have "N" as shown in the sheets.
As in the example, now Reference "R566" of Table1 matches with Table2 Reference so the status field in Table2 for that record will be "WithDrawn".

I would like to open an Excel workbook from MS Access and clear cell contents, or just delete some records in a specific worksheet.
If you open the test workbook, cell contents in RAW need to be deleted by calling from Access.
I have produced some code but it's partially working.
Code:
Sub TestFileOpened()
' Test to see if the file is open.
If IsFileOpen("test.xls") Then
' Display a message stating the file in use.
MsgBox "File already in use!"
[Code] ....
If you put this in a standard module in access, the function works, but the part that doesn't work is where it says "activesheet". It somehow tries to recognize it as a variable, but it's not going to be a variable.

I have two databases, both have mysql backened and access frontend.
In first database, I'd like to access the second database, check if that person has an entry in the second database and then fetch that data into the first database. To make it easier, data come from different tables (though I'd probably access only one entry in each table)
Not sure where to start, the only idea I have is to link tables from both databases into the frontend ad then it's kinda easy (would have to rename the tables).

I am using Access 2010 and I currently use a command button on a form to add new records to a table using data that the user has entered into the form using the code below:
Although this is pretty self-explanatory, here is a key for reference:
Me.lstFacilities = ListBox
Me.cboMeasure = ComboBox
Me.cboYesNo = ComboBox
Me.txtTarget = TextBox
Code:
Private Sub cmdAddMet_Click()
Dim DB As DAO.Database
Dim RS As DAO.Recordset
Dim strSQL As String
Dim i As Integer
Set DB = CurrentDb
[Code] .....
This works great but I would like to be able to pull in data from another database based off of Me.lstFacilities.Column(1, i) which is the FACILITY_ID field and is located in the other database's table. I thought about adding in another string variable(strSQL1) and opening up a separate recordset and database:
Code:
Set DB1 = OpenDatabase("serverotherdb.accdb")
strSQL1 = "SELECT [FieldName] FROM [tblOtherDatabase] IN 'serverotherdb.accdb'"
Set RS1 = DB1.OpenRecordset(strSQL1)
However, I'm not sure where to start pulling in the data from the [fieldname] in the [tblOtherDatabase] when I start the loop below:
Code:
For i = 0 To lstFacilities.ListCount - 1
If lstFacilities.Selected(i) = True Then
RS.AddNew
RS!RELATIONSHIP_ID = Me.lstFacilities.Column(0, i)
RS!MEASUREMENT_PERIOD = Me.cboMeasure
[Code] .....
Is it even possible to do this?

I am using Excel/VBA as a frontend and Access backend. The sheet2 stores the queue name and Queue number. We have to update the sheet1 from column L to column O by looking for the values from the Access table for the date selected from the comboboxes. Now In sheet 2 , it says Queue number and in actual in access table it is the combination of Type & Type1 & Type2. So we have to look for Type & Type1 & Type2 in the table and find out total Batches ,Total Envelopes,Total documents and total pages and then store the values in the ExcelSheet1 from column L to column O.
The following formulas will be used in the select statment:
Total Batches = count(BatchNo) for date selected
Total Envelopes=sum(Envelopes) for date selected
Total Documents=sum(Cases) for date selected
Total Pages=sum(Pages) for date selected
