I am working on MS Access program where i import data from Excel and i would like to generate a report in MS Access where the fields are empty. Like the MS Access generate a table of errors when we import data and shows information like field name and row number along with Type Conversion label. Can i generate similar table from an MS Access table where fields are null.
I have made a form based on related tables. it requires me to fill out every field, which I don't want. I didn't make them required. Why does it do that?
I have a form that has validation rules, etc, and I want to let the user close it with custom error handling, so I was building a validation procedure for a form close button. The thing is, whether using Isnull, len()=0, or me.field.value = "", it only works until a value is entered. If the user enters a value, the form passes validation, even if the user then backspaces the data out. The only reasonable way to close the form as I see it is to check whether the record has been saved (via recordset),the user their changes will be lost (msgbox vbyesno), then use the undo command to clear the form making it safe to close it. I feel this is safe because my form validation will cover the save command.
I have a logon form that always contains a value in the user name and password fields. How can I do it that these two fields are empty when the logon form is displayed? When I put this code in a program text12.value="" then it delete user name in database.
I have a bound form that is used to enter company info (address, name, category...etc). When the user closes the form, if Company name, province or category are left blank, I warn them with a message box asking if they want to exit and undo changes, or return to the form to fill in the missing info.
When they choose the option of returning to the form, I get 2 errors. You must enter a value in "tblCompanies.category", and "You can't save the record at this time, do you want to exit without saving?". If I click "No" on the second warning, focus is set to the missing data control and I can continue working.
How can I prevent the record from being saved when I choose to return to the form to fill in the blank records?
Code: Private Sub Form_BeforeUpdate(Cancel As Integer) On Error GoTo Form_BeforeUpdate_Error Dim Response As Integer ' Determine if required fields are populated. If IsNull(Me.txtCompanyName) Then Response = MsgBox("Company name is a required field. Do you wish to discard changes and exit?", vbYesNo,
I have cleared the data out of the database and started testing it to check its usability.I entered in a full record, and flicked back and forth between the records, and everything was looking good.
Then I closed the form, and re-opened it and my record was no longer populating the form fields.I've literally changed nothing bar one field that was changed from number to text.
I have a list box that displays records. When i double click a record it opens the form needed. However I want it to open the form but default to a specific tab. But when it goes to the tab, the subform within it needs to match the ContractID of the record they double clicked on in the search form?I currently have this which opens the Client Form based on the ClientID of the listbox query search results and the client id of the main record.
Code: Private Sub SearchResults_DblClick(Cancel As Integer) If CurrentProject.AllForms("frm_Clients").IsLoaded Then DoCmd.Close acForm, "frm_Clients" End If DoCmd.OpenForm "frm_Clients", acNormal, , "[ClientID] = " & Me.SearchResults.Column(0)
So in theory If doubleClick then open Client Form on Tab3 where subform Contract field ContractID is matches the ContractID in on the search results?
I have a form I want to close but somehow the codes running before it cancel it out before my closing code can run.
Here is the full code for the form.
Code: 'Check for Null Fields If IsNull(Me.cmb_to_customer) Or IsNull(Me.cmb_from_customer) Then MsgBox ("Please enter a TO CUSTOMER and FROM CUSTOMER to continue.") Cancel = True
[Code] .....
This is the ending code that will not run:
'''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''' 'Continue or Not, If yes then wipe all fields, If no then exit form If MsgBox("Do you want to log-in/transfer more batteries?", vbOKCancel, "BATTERY LOG-IN/TRANSFER") = vbCancel Then DoCmd.Close acForm, "FRM_LOGIN" Else Me.cmb_from_customer = Null
All i want to do is after executing the following code, close the form " EmployeeFind" on completion?
Private Sub Form_DblClick(Cancel As Integer) On Error GoTo Err_Form_DblClick Dim stDocName As String Dim Msg, Style, Title, Response Msg = "Employee allocated to Job" Style = vbOKCancel + vbInformation Title = "Employee moved" ' Define title. Response = MsgBox(Msg, Style, Title) If Response = vbOK Then
In the main form I have a list box, when I right click on each item on list box another form "frmshortcut" (pop up) will be open in the position of mouse that shows a list box for selecting items according to below code, now I would like when select another place (except "frmshortcut"), this form automatically will be close, like what we have in shortcut list of windows. Now when right click it is opened in the location of mouse click, but problem is, it is not closed automatically when click in other places of main form.

I am using the method from allen browne [URL] .... to open a form and add it to a collection and when removing it it closes. actually, usually it does work so but i have now a form which does not close until i am hitting the reset button in VBE , is there something i could check why it's not functioning as desired ?
Just to add, this form has a subForm as well (might be the cause ?)
I have a subform that is used in multiple other forms. I wish to have a command button that will close whichever main form the subform is in. Is there some way I can make an if statement that is something like the following?
If (main form = A) then Close (form A) ElseIf (main form = B) then Close (form B) etc. End if
Unfortunately the button has to be in the subform, not the main form (which would be easier). The purpose of the button is to delete the current records that are open and then close the form. The catch is that the subform is the parent record to the main form, so the command has to originate from the subform so that the cascade delete works properly.
I have a form I would like to close without saving the record using a button. here is the code I have but it closes the form and it also writes the record to the table.
Code: Private Sub ClosewoSave_Click() Cancel = True Me.Undo DoCmd.close DoCmd.OpenForm "frmMenu" End Sub
I found in a thread that Cancel = True would not write the record.
I have a problem when I close a form to stop it from closing if a date is not filled in.
If the field "Case_Status" is filled in with "response received" and the date field "response_received_date" is blank, it shows a message and fils in the text box with red background.
It simply fails to keep the form from closing till the date is filled in. Code I have so far:
Private Sub CloseForm_Click() If Me.Case_Status = "response received" And IsNull(Me.response_received__date_) Then Me.response_received__date.BackColor = RGB(255, 0, 0) MsgBox ("Please fill in manatory fields!!!") DoCmd.CancelEvent Else DoCmd.Close End If End Sub
I have a timer form which closes the database after a period of time with DoCmd.Quit. Another form is open at this point but if a user has left it in the middle of editing it I want to be able to save the record in the other form and close it before the timer form closes the database.
What VBA do I need in the timer form to save the record and close the other form before DoCmd.Quit? Just to be clear the code is...
Private Sub Form_Timer() On Error Resume Next Me.Tag = Val(Me.Tag) - (Me.TimerInterval / 1000) Me.Caption = "The database will exit in " & Me.Tag & " seconds" If Val(Me.Tag) <= 0 Then
my code does the following, user selects excel file, opens it, renames sheets, basically needs first sheet to be sheet1. rest don't matter Changes the formats in column a to number and 15dp, saves the file as .xls and then links the file to the database.
Code: Private Sub Command288_Click() Dim s As String Dim i As Long
I have to write a code in a form so that if nobody is doing any activity for 5 minutes then after 5 minutes automatically press Close button named BtnClose in that form.
I'm having problems with the required field option in my table. I have a form that writes to the table and has a validation of the fields built in the code. If the validation is true, then it will allow the record to be saved.
However, I've also set those same fields in the table to be a required field. Whenever I enter data in those fields in the form and click the save command button, I get a message back telling me one of the required fields cannot be null. The thing is, it is not null. I entered data into the field through the form. Whenever I change the required field option to no in the table the problem goes away, but shows up on the very next field in the list that is set to yes.
Validation occurs within the form that writes to the table, but I still would like to have the security of knowing the fields are required in the table as well, just in case someone tries to be sneaky and go directly into the table to enter/modify data.
Is there something I'm missing? Is this a bug? I've actually set up another database the same way and don't have any problems with it. I'm not sure what's going on. Has anyone else had this problem?
Is there any way that you can have required fields in a form, but access will not look for the required fields until you try to exit the form. Basically; i have a form that users keep track of there work hours on specific parts. they leave the form minimized for most of the day. After they enter a record, they sometimes need to go back and edit a previous record, only they are on a new record and access will not let them go to a previous record unless they have the record fields entered.
Well guys, I don't know if this is possible or not, but maybe someone can guide me in the right path.
I have a data entry form that several employees use. I have certain required fields that are set on the form level. I have couple employees that I would like to have the ability to override these fields. I was thinking like using F10 key or other key combinations that will allow them to override the required fields in order to save the record.
Is this something realistic that I can accomplish in access, and if so, does anyone have a sample that can help me with this task? Thanks to all.
I am using Access 2000 I have set some fields in a table to required However it still allows the cell to be blank But if I type a space into the cell, then the rule kicks in
I have a form that I want to make all fields required so that the user cannot leave that form until all fields are filled out. I have the Required property in the table set to yes, and this works fine if I go to the form from the database window. However, If I go to the form from the main switchboard (In Add Mode), the form can be closed without all of the fields being completed. I know it's probably something pretty simple, but I haven't been able to figure it out. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Attached is a picture of the form if it would help at all.
