Nov 10, 2014I need to write a code that checks if every 6 lines in a table contains a string. If it contains the string, then carry on looping, but if it does not, it will delete the current line and the previous 6 lines before it. The program should then continue looping through the entire table.
For example,

I need to find the string "apple" in every 6 lines. So, that means that the first 2 Apples are fine, but for the third one needs to be deleted as it contains 7 lines instead of 6.

Nov 20, 2013I have a form that records followup activities for protocols. The form allows the user to enter up to six f/u actions from a dropdown menu in six separate fields (called fu1_action, fu2_action, etc).
I am trying to write a query that retrieves only protocols that only have one f/u action selected as "telephone correspondence" and am having trouble. It seems I could write a function in VBA that would somehow loop through the 6 f/u action fields and give a value of 1 to those that have 'telephone correspondence' as a response, and then add them up to give a total of calls for that specific protocol, and then in a separate query only retrieve those that have a total number of calls = 1, but how to get started in writing this.

Dec 3, 2014I have a table that contains many records of events. I've already created a multiple item form based on the table. My form contains 2 textboxes for input of a date range and a dropdown box to select "yes or no".
What I am having difficulty with is the query that will count the records by type insert it into the recordsource such that the multiple item form will appear like this:

Jul 15, 2013I am attempting to modify some code that is used for reading content in an Outlook mail and need to catch and move the email if certain content is duplicated in the email.
The code reads the email that is in the attached image format:
As seen, this email contains 2 devices, but the Serial No in both is duplicated.
In the code, I need to capture this and rather than reading the contents, I need to just move this email to a separate "Manual" folder to be dealt with separately, so not to write the information to the database.

Oct 7, 2013In one table, I have a few fields. One of the field is "ItemSequence" and another one is "TotalPcs"."ItemSequence" is where user key in the sequence number for one or more item. 5 example for possible content of "ItemSequence" is as following :
1) 7
2) 4,6,9
3) 5-9
4) 3,5,9, 23-25
5) 3-5, 8-10
"TotalPcs" is the total number of items key in to "ItemSequence". For the 5 example above, the related "TotalPcs" should be as following:
1) 1 (1 item, which is item 7 alone)
2) 3 (3 item which is item 4, 6 and 9)
3) 5 (5 item which is item 5, 6, 7, 8 and 9)
4) 6 (6 item which is item 3, 5, 9, 23, 24 and 25 )
5) 6 (6 item, which is item 3, 4, 5, 8, 9 and 10)
For time being, the user have to count manually to get the "TotalPcs". I wonder is there a way to calculate the "TotalPcs" by programming?

The current code - this is executed as on-click event when clicked on List Box feed with query below.
What I want to add is simple if that when number of rows produced by the querry is 1 it will enable a picture item in the different part of the form, however it does not want to count the rows for me.

The query itself works when tested but when used in code with DCount function will return error: Run-Time 2471 the expression you entered as query parameter prouced this error

Aug 6, 2007Is there a way to have a query pull all of the table names within a database and display the number of records in each table? The names, number of tables in the database, an number of records within each table will always be changing, which is why I wanted to use a Query to pull the information.
I have already tapped into the MSysObjects table to retrive the Table names (via a Query), I am however stumped on how I am going to display each tables record count. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Jan 23, 2015I need to first generate a random number between 1-4.
Then I would like to use that number to pull that many records out of the database; the records pulled can be random, or whatever.
For example, we have 4 people and my goal is to choose a random # of records to pull for each person. So, for person #1, it might only pull 1 record, then for person #3, it may pull 2 records, etc.
Ideally, it wouldn't pull the same # twice when run for that "session".
After this, I'm hoping to generate all those results into emails (eg for person 3 it would generate 3 emails, etc)
Currently it's all done manually and I think it's doable with Access.
I have some code already for generating "1" email message, but do not know how to pull X number of emails all at once. (X is the random #).

First record has two conditions
If string 2 is null then start numbering from sequence1
If string 2 is not null then start numbering from sequence2
If string 2 = string1 then
Sequence1 = 0
Second record has two conditions
Number sequence2 with the value 2 or 3 depending on the line one
If string 2 = string1 then
Sequence1 = 0
Else
Sequence1 = next number
Same condition for the rest of records

Nov 1, 2013We have a database that is split. Every user has their own front end (installed via a .bat file so that the users always have a local copy of the most recent version), linked to a shared back end on a server. This seems stable and functional for us so far.
However, because our users are geographically separated, I don't actually know how many folks are using the database. I know the folks who contact me, but everyone in our company could use it if they wanted to.
For requesting funding, guiding future development, etc., I need to get some metrics:
Total number of unique users
Avg uses per day
Total number of simultaneous users (daily, weekly, and monthly maxes and mins)
What is the best way to get this info? Write user info and a timestamp to a table each time a front end is launched? Are there tools for monitoring this sort of information?

May 30, 2014Lets say you have a table with an AutoNumber field.You populate it with 100 records.You delete the last 10 records (91-100)Now, I certainly know you can refresh the AutoNumber sequencing by compacting the database so the next record entered is 91.
My question is about NOT refreshing the AutoNumber sequencing.Lets say you DO NOT COMPACT and DO NOT refresh the AutoNumber Sequence.So, in that scenario, after deleting records 91-100 from the table, is there any programmatic way to determine that the next actual AutoNumber for that table will be 101?

Jan 20, 2015I have "Master" table with fields "Job No" and "Revision No". Both together is a primary key, so that combination of both cannot be duplicated. I have 100 other tables to be related with referential integrity(+update&delete) to Master for both fields. Apart from Job No and Revision No, all 100 tables have different set of fields which is why I had to come with so many tables.
Due to 32 limit rule, I had to come up with workaround method to have all 100 tables in the relationship. So, I created 5 other SubMaster1, SubMaster2, ...., SubMaster5 which are related to Master with relationship with referential integrity (+update&delete). Then I assigned 20 tables to each SubMaster so that 20 tables are related to each SubMaster table.
Whenever I create new record in Unit, the new record is generated in each SubMaster using update query for each SubMaster table. I have all the forms and necessary query laid out. The only missing part is being able to duplicate a record. I have limited knowledge in VBA, but I should be able to modify it to address to my requirement.
I want to copy a given record in Master, SubMasters and 100 tables as a new record. I need this feature so that I can select certain Job No and Revision No and copy that as a new Job No(assigned manually in a form) and 0 as the revision number. Possibly a button which will ask for new job number and copy everything from the active Job No and Revision No to a New Job No and "0" Revision No. The existing record may not be there on all 100 tables for the given Job No and Revision No. If it is there, then copy otherwise ignore for each of the tables.
I have a table "ItemList" which lists all the unique name of the 100 tables.

Dec 22, 2004Okay, I think I got it, here is the code I am using:
=DCount("[Transcript type]","[TRANSCRIPTS]","[Transcript type]"="Official copy")
This is what I am using to count the occurances of the text "Official copy" form a combobox. however, it returns a value of zero. TRANSCRIPTS is the name of the table and Transcript type is the name of the combobx.
Any help on this one?
