Modules & VBA :: Column Not Populating From SQL Server
Apr 1, 2014
I am populating Access table using a stored procedure from SQL Server. Here is the code that does the populating.
The problem area is the rst!id (highlighted in red). This is the Identity Column from SQL Server. When Access gets to 32768 it results in a blank in the Access Table. Ive Included the picture.
When I step through the loop and get to that 'id' I can see that the next value is there, by hovering over 'rst!id'. So I know that the value is not NULL but it does not record it in the table.
This continues for the remainder of the load, which is few more thousand rows.
Code:
Do Until rst.EOF
strSQL = "INSERT INTO tblStationPatronageEstimate (pax,transactions,time_band,day_type,entrance, " & _
" from_date,to_date,id,station_entrance_id,number_of_days,average_pax_per_day,
average_tran_per_day,vr_used_name,vr_used,userid, " & _
" time_stamp, completed,comment) " & _
Connecting Access FE to SQL SERVER BE Connection is fine. I can open and close it and other queries work fine. I have only one problem with the SQL in one query
Code: With rstRPT If FirstRecord = True Then .Open "SELECT Min([" & SourceTbl & "].[3Order ID]) AS MinOf3OrderID " & _
[Code].....
why it wants to see the variable as a column name?
In the organisation that I work for employees get paid every 2 weeks on a Saturday. So for this financial year the pay period end dates have been 08/07/2006, 22/07/2006, 05/08/2006 etc
I have a column in an Access table listing various dates. I want the next column to be populated with the next pay period end date after that date.
So if DATE is 05/07/2006 I want PAY PERIOD END to be 08/07/2006 and if DATE is 09/07/2006 I want PAY PERIOD END to be 22/07/2006 etc
I posted a few days ago about how I am using a combo box for selecting/entering a name on a form. Once the name is chosen for 'txtEventLeader' it updates the query so the next record shows that name as an option for selection in the combobox.
What I want to do now is also have a field called 'txtEventFacilitator' which would also update the query and update the combobox (regardless if one is choosing the Event Leader or Event Facilitator). I think I need to make a one column query which puts all of the names in one column, regardless if they were the Event Leader or Event Facilitator.
I have a table having fields start date and end date. I need to calculate difference in the dates and store the values in a new column in the same table. I am able to write the query for this but am clueless as to how to put in these values in a new column in the table.
I'm using a combo box to pull data from a table to auto populate the fields on my form. But for some reason, it stops inserting the data after city (column(6) and I can't figure out what's going on. When I run the query the data is there, if I change the order of the columns, the data shows. Here's the code:
I've been trying to populate a field in a form with information, but only if the field is blank.
What I am trying to do is this.
I have a continuous form displaying all of our principals, however when our principals are on leave I want to populate the field with the "acting principal". I have set it up so the field grabs the acting principal first but it is blank for several schools. For these schools where there there is no "acting principal" I want it to grab the substantive principal automatically and populate the field.
I have tried Is Null, Is Not Null, NZ, IF, Where and Then statements but to no avail.
I need to input a string into a column named "EventType". The code should first check if the column "Agent Name" contains any strings. If there is none, it will input "IBM Director" into the EventType column.
Once it has looped through the agent names, the code will then loop through the Details column and input into EventTypes based on what is displayed within the string.
These are the codes that I am using to achieve this, however nothing is being input into the EventType column.
Code: Private Sub Command11_Click() Dim dbs As DAO.Database Dim rst As DAO.Recordset
Set dbs = CurrentDb Set rst = dbs.OpenRecordset("Final")
[Code] ....
I think the problem lies with the code that checks the agent name. When I removed it, it managed to populate the EventType column based on the details. But I still need to find out how to check the agent name too.
DoCmd.RunSQL (" update tbl_userinformation SET [05-Henrichpiramid] = Yes where Username= Text146.value AND actualdate=Text148.value ;") DoCmd.RunSQL (" update tbl_userinformation SET [combination] = [05-Henrichpiramid] where Username= Text146.value AND actualdate=Text148.value ;")
i want to update the column combination to its last value with concatanation to the value of current column.
In reality there are many more machine parameters (about 30). We have two machines that usually are set with 2 different set combinations of parameters. The combinations vary at times but are usually one or the other
Currently the user is going in and selecting the parameters from a combobox manually for each lot number.
To save him time and work, I want those fields auto populated with the parameters for a machine. So the user will hit a button for machine 1 or 2 and the parameter rows will fill with that machine's correct parameters.
I have an insert query that has been working just fine. I added three new columns (Paid, Balance, Invoiced) to both tables that I am using in my query. The query will insert the new records that don't exist in the one table just fine but it is not populating the new columns.
In the code below I want to wait for ten seconds if there is connection to the server, if not to exit the sub with message "No connection to server". How to check it
Dim req As New XMLHTTP60 Dim resp As New DOMDocument60 Dim xmlNodeList As IXMLDOMNodeList Dim myNode As IXMLDOMNode Dim xmlNode As IXMLDOMNode Dim presription As IXMLDOMNode
I have an application that I have automatically checking to see if tables are valid and connected, etc. If the app finds that the tables aren't connected or aren't working, it automatically tries to re-connect those tables in the background without the user's knowledge. The time I'm having trouble is if the SQL Server doesn't exists (the back-end tables are on a SQL Server). I would like to check to see if the SQL Server exists before I try to re-connect tables so that no SQL Errors pop up but I'm not sure how to figure that out with VBA.
I'm writing to an excel file from two separate Access tables, for which I'm using two separate DAO.Recordsets in VBA.The first table has 190 columns, the second table has more than 66 columns, so more than 256 columns will be written to the excel file.So I'm not expecting any error due to any maximum of 256 columns, but still I'm getting an error while trying to populate the 257th excel-column:
Run-time error '1004': Application-defined or object-defined error.(The same VBA works fine when I use another table with less columns.)Even more strange: on another computer I did not get the error and I was able to populate more than 256 excel-columns.
Code:
Option Compare Database Option Explicit Dim xlApp As Excel.Application Dim xlWkb As Excel.Workbook Dim xlWks As Excel.Worksheet Dim FileNameOut As String Dim RowNr As Long Dim ColNr As Long
I want to know a way of populating unbound textboxes with data from a table without using the easy assigning data in the property of the box. I want it to be all done with code, which to me isnt a huge deal but I've yet to find answers on the web pertaining to this issue.
for example:
Say i was searching a primary key in one box and based on what ever is typed in i'd like it to populate the rest of the textboxes.
I'm trying to create a temp table, which is populated by a string, (taken from a recordset).
My problem is incorporating the String into the SQL statment, and making it work,
What I'm trying to do is to create a temp table, and populate it with the first record of the recordset, (which is an e-mail address).
(The recordset and the strings work fine). It's the SQL statement which doesn't work.
Here's the code I have :
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Set DBS = CurrentDb Set RST = DBS.OpenRecordset("SELECT Contact FROM Contacts_to_be_Mailed") Dim My_Count As Long Dim ContactString As String
RST.MoveFirst ContactString = RST(0)
Dim strTable As String strTable = "TempContact" DoCmd.RunSQL "INSERT * INTO " & strTable & " FROM ContactString "
I have a form with a Listbox which lists Customers and a variety of customer information
I also have a table on the form that lists the donations that customers have made.
How can I populate the Table based on the customer that is selected in the Listbox?
There is an ID field that links Customers with Donations
I'm guessing I need some code in the ListBox_CLick() event that triggers the table to query or to Load with a query based on the ListBox.Column(0) which contains the ID?
How I can check if connection to SQL server is established with VBA before the SQL is executed. btw I use VPN connection to connect to sql server, and some times VPN connection is going down in middle of work and it is quite unconvinced.
I have an access front-end package that works just fine but if there is an update, I just want the program to run scripts to update the SQL Server tables that it is connected to. I just don't know how to do this. I know how to do this on SQL Server Management studio and all, I just was hoping I could do it straight from my access front end so that a user could just click a button and update the tables or something.
I have a vbs-script that opens my access database db.mdb and runs the module "Export":
dim accessApp set accessApp = createObject("Access.Application") accessApp.OpenCurrentDataBase("D:Datadb.mdb") accessApp.Run "Export"
accessApp.Quit set accessApp = nothing
This works fine as a scheduled task on a Windows 7 computer.
Is there a way to make this work on a Windows Server 2008 R2 ? When I double click the vbs-file, the file opens instead of runs. And when I create a scheduled task, nothings happens.
As part of a larger system I currently have a standalone A2010 program which processes emails that it sees within Outlook. As my client is moving to Exchange Server I was wondering whether there was a better way of doing this by getting rid of Outlook and "talking" directly to Exchange.
I'm trying to store files on a linked SQL Server table, much the way I would using the Attachment data type in Access. (I couldn't use the Attachment data type, though, due to size restrictions - we're storing about a gig a week.)
Almost everyone says to store the attachments on a file system and save the location - I can't do that because of varying permissions. The files HAVE to be stored in the SQL Server table for security reasons.
So how do I do it? I've tried converting the files to binary and updating the recordset that way, but it always comes back as null. I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong.
Code: Public Function Test(strFile As String) As Boolean Dim rsAtts As dao.Recordset Dim ifilenum As Double Dim btAR() As Byte Set db = CurrentDb
