What i want is to have a combo box on a continuous form that as you type it filters the Query it is based on using a Like *. and drops downs so the user can see the updated list after each key press? Is this possible?
View RepliesI do not like the look of combo boxes on continuous forms. I think that they really take away from an aesthetic I am trying to create. However, I really like their functionality.
What I would like to do is have a text box for the field when the control does not have focus, but switch it to a combobox when it does. Now, this is pretty easy to do - however, it ends up switching all of the text boxes on the continuous form to a combo box and back. I only want to switch the currently selected record.
Does anyone know if this is possible, or have any ideas as to how to accomplish this?
I am mid way through a Access db and have a solid idea what i want from a form. The idea is for a rota display and edit form.
a tab control with 5 tabs (-2 weeks, -1 week, current week, + 1 week, + 2 weeks) and when the user clicks it lists all the employees (Employee Table) with any found rota entrys (Rota Table) populating into a text box type table with employees information blank where no rota information has been entered.
then the user can edit / add shift information from that table and hit save.
the main rota information is inputted by an excel import but this is done once a month and adhoc changes will be needed (holidays absence etc)
the only thing i found like what i want is a continuous form (which ive never used before but been told that wont go in a tab control)
How i would accomplish this (code snippets - doesnt have to be detailed just the fundamental functions so i can add modify to suit the information the sql's i already have its just the form controls.)
A continuous form with fields Operation bounded integer, LibelBx unbounded combobox string with two columns as Sorter (Int), Phrase(str).
A table TargetTbl with field Operation(Int). A table TextArrayTbl with fields Phrase(str), Sorter(Int).
Relationship between TargetTbl and TextArrayTbl is one to many joined on Operation = Sorter.
I am trying to display the form. RecordSource = TargetTbl. LibelBx.RowSource = TextArrayTblQy.
The idea is to display every record from TargetTbl with Operation equal to Sorter from TextArrayTbl. The LibelBx combobox should display the Sorter and Phrase.

I managed to get the TexArrayTbl displayed in LibelBx combobox, but it displays all the records whereas I want it to display only the ones with Sorter = Operation.
I have almost completed creating a continuous form which I want users to be able to filter though the records based on to/from date, badgenum and a response string.
I then want to have a button, btnSelect, that will select the remaining records and open a report based off only the remaining records.
1.) Everything on the continuous form works except when trying to filter a combo box, cboBadge, field name "BadgeNum". BadgeNum is data type "short text". I have modified the code below from the following Allen Browne link. It keeps throwing a debug on me.Filter = strWhere at the bottom of the btnFilter sub.
2.) As far as the btnSelect and printing remaining records, I guess I'm not sure where to start.. I currently have another print button that will print individual records only which works fine.

I have a multirecord continuous form that displays the results of a query. At the end of each row there is a combobox displaying a list of form names. The user selects one of these forms from the list and program fetches the detail data in that selected form corresponding to the row where the cursor is. Now the beforeupdate or aferupdate or onclick functions do not work. Her are the properties of the combobox as JPG files and the code of the not working function.

I would like the user to be able to place the last 8 digits of a particular VIN in the text box in the footer and click the command button to bring that particular record to the top.....

I am trying to build a form that allows the user to INPUT stock as it arrives. This is simple with a product form that shows all the products in the table. I just go to the quantity field and change it.
But, I want to create a 'search' function in the field. I want to allow the user to type in the Product number. Then the Product name, Product Price and Quantity is AUTOMATICALLY displayed.
The user can then change this value (items in stock).
Thats pretty much the jisst of what I wanna do.
Can anyone help?

When you use a combobox to search values in the form - and someone searches for a value that isn't there - the form just defaults to the first entry. Is there a way of putting a message box that says "This is a new patient" (or something like that). The NotInList event doesn't work - any ideas??

I am setting up a subform in continuous with combobox, but when I enter the data on the first combobox, it duplicated to all the following records. Is there a way to stop that?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a log of items I currently inventory. When you click on an item, it opens another form with a sub-form that lists the history of changes for said item in a continuous form display.
What I want to be able to do is when that form is opened, the sub-form will highlight the last entry (either bold it, or change the background).
I have a form that is being used for sample submission. Ideally, the user will be able to put in some information (3 or 4 fields) and the number of samples that they're taking, click the arrow and it will insert that number of samples into a temporary table that is then displayed on a continuous form. From there, they can edit samples, add more samples, and generate a report to submit to the genotyping group. Once their sample list is final, I will append it to the master list and clear the temporary table.
I've got the basics working. A looped "INSERT INTO" using a counter inserts the relevant information. I cannot, however, seem to get the numbering field to work.
Ultimately, the numbers need to look something like MySample-001, where MySample would be one of the other fields. Incrementing the 001 is the problem. In another situation in the database, I can successfully use DMax+1 to assign a single number on a single form, but I can't get it to increment the sample numbers.
Ideally, I'd like it to happen when the form is generated. However, I'm also open to having them assigned when the sample list is finalized, before inserting into master table.
In my database, I have a continuous form with a Name, a Date and a Yes/No field.
When the form opens, I want to look at the date of every record on the form and show a message box if it is before the current day.

I have a continuous subform of 'static data' whose record source is a SELECT query across multiple linked tables.
Most of the fields are locked and purely there for information purposes but I need to be able to allow end users to change one particular field in each record if they need to - choosing a value from a predetermined list (i.e. one of the tables)
Usually, when I need to do this, I add a command button to the subform and use that to open a separate pop-up form specific to that record, from which the user can make whatever changes they like and then update the record. So in this scenario, a simple unbound combobox linked to that table, on that separate form, would work quite easily.
But I would prefer if users could make their changes directly from the subform without (yet another) pop-up form required each time, to make managing these records more fluid and less time-consuming.
So my thought was to use a bound textbox in the continuous subform (to take the existing value for each record), hide it and overlap it with a visible unbound combobox whose row source is the table of available options and whose default value is driven by the hidden bound textbox. And then to use the AfterUpdate event of the combobox to run the UPDATE query on the record in question.
However, while the combobox is getting the correct default value and the correct list items, I can't make a selection from it. Now I am aware there are 'issues' with using a combobox in a continuous subform but I was hoping I could circumvent them by not binding it.
I have a mainform. When I click on a command button, it opens up another form. That form is designed to be as a continuous form, yet it does not display the header. The header is present in the form view. I have attached the screenprints to show the header in my form and the corresponding properties window.

When I select on the records I need I hit a button that opens a form up with the selected records. This form is a continuous form. I have an unbound combo box (Combo55). Its values come from a specific table. I want to hit a button and change the field "Assigned" on all the records showing to the value that I selected in Combo55.
The problem is it only changes the value of the currently selected record. How Do I get it to change the value of all records that are showing?
I am only testing this idea with default field names. Before I implement the database I have to get a working model and present it. So I am building this and naming at the moment isnt important.
Basically I have a continuous form with each record having a textbox and a checkbox. There can only be one checkbox ticked per record but what I want to do is to stop the other checkboxes from being ticked if one is already ticked.

I need to set a default 'alternate' colour, and I want to find the code to use for Light Grey - on the design of a form, the color to use on a control would be #903C39 but when I try to set that as my default colour in the code it doesn't like it! The user starts on a continous form and opens a record, makes some changes, and then when that form closes it triggers this public sub.
The code does what I want it to do in that it returns to the last encounter number that was selected (now on the continous form again) and it requeries and shows anything that was changed about the record on the form that was closed before requery.......
But it always resorts and moves it and I want it to stay in the same spot unless the user sorts. Is there any way to make that happen?
I have some images stored in a SQL Table which is linked into Access. These images have to be stored in the database as I also reference them on other platforms (Android, Web etc).
In my Access programme I need to display a continuous form / report showing each image. Now, good old Access cannot display multiple images stored in the database on a continuous form. It can only do this if it is referencing the path to the image.
When the user views the form they will only see about 12 images at a time. I thought of a workaround which is to write the database images back to file to a local temp directory when the user loads the form. The user would be happy to wait for say 10 to 15 seconds whilst the form loads.
However, I cannot find an efficient algorithm to write the images back to a file. The one I am using is a BinarytoString algorithm by motobit which is fine for very small images, but anything over 100kb (which is still pretty small) it goes sooooo slow.
How to quickly write an image stored as a long binary in an Access DB back to a file? Or do I need to crack open my Visual Studio and write some C# DLL to use instead...?
I'm trying to sort and filter a continuous form. Sort ascending and filters works perfectly fine. But my descending button doesn't work. I basically have a combo box which contains a field list. Then two buttons (asc. and desc.), then a text box for filter, a button to filter, and another button to reset filter. Here's my code:

I have a form that I have exported certain fields into a word doc (it is up and running just fine). I created bookmarks in word and put some VBA into my access form, so when I click on 'Create word report' it pops up and automatically populates the record I am on. Here is the tough question,
How to make this work with a continuous form? My main form has several subforms, one being a continuous form. The main form shows one bridge at a time. The sub continuous form shows information for all of the bridges spans (could be anywhere from 1 to 9).
I have an application (2007 accde) that has been working for some time, this line specifically:

On one users PC (XP Pro SP3), this has worked from day one. His PC got infected to the point that I had to wipe/rebuild it, and suddenly this code throws a warning and then an error. The warning I could live with (it's the MS Office "some files can contain viruses..." warning). However, after clicking on OK for the warning, I get an error that says "Can't print form image to this type of printer". Doesn't make sense, as this user has the same default printer he had before, plus I tried with a different default printer.
if I navigate to the file location on his PC I can open any of the files, so I don't think it's a permissions issue. The code works fine on my PC and a VM with a different OS, and it still works fine for other users.
