Modules & VBA :: Controlling Fields In A SubForm Displayed In DataSheet Mode

Dec 2, 2013

I have a Form to Display Projects that has a SubForm displaying Sub-Projects related to them. The main Project Form has a Combo Box which allows a user to select a ProjectID to display. The SubForm has a ProjectID Field as well. When the Project ID is selected in the Main Form, only the appropriate Sub-Projects are displayed in the Sub-Form.

On the SubForm, there is a Field named ActionID, which uses the following VB Code to limit the availability of the Fields in the SubForm that apply to Dates. If the selected Action is Install, only Install related Dates should be available. Likewise, if the selected Action is Remove only Remove related Dates should be available.

Code:

If Me.ActionID.Column(1) = "Install" Then
Me.AssetInstallMonth.Enabled = True
Me.AssetInstallYear.Enabled = True
Me.AssetRemovalYear.Enabled = False
Me.AssetInstallMonth.Locked = False

[Code] ....

Everything seems to work as expected until there is more than one Sub-Project is the SubForm and they do not contain the same Action. In these cases, it appears as if the Sub-Projects in the SubForm are not being treated as individual records. If Sub-Project is Added or Modified to have an action of "Install", all records are treated as Install Records (only Install related Dates are available), regardless of their content.

Is there a way to update the properties for only the row that has been selected?

Modules & VBA :: Filtering Subform (datasheet) By Fields (Date)

Mar 27, 2014

I filter my subform (datasheet) by fields, everything works great except "date" column. MS Access shows that record does not exist but it isn't true.

Code:
Me![frmAktPD].Form.Filter = "[Data przyjęcia] = " & Me.DataPrzyjecia
Me![frmAktPD].Form.FilterOn = True

Where is the problem?

Modules & VBA :: Form To Display Subset Of Records In Datasheet Mode?

Feb 3, 2015

I created a form to enter the lookup data and build the SQL string to create a recordset in VBA that is a subset of the original data. Using the Form wizard I created a form that displays ALL of the records in that original table (actually a QUERY). What I want to do is open this second form but have it reference the recordset I built in VBA.

Launching A Form In Datasheet Mode

Jun 10, 2006

I have a form designed in DS mode. If I open it directly (double click on it on the Panel), it works fine

When opening it programmatically (from a button in another form) it shows just ONE record, in spite of having room enough for several records.

May I get some help to check what am I doing wrong?

thanks

Form In Datasheet Mode : Name Of Textbox Is Caption Of Column ???

May 5, 2006

My form is in datasheet mode.

One of the textbox is called txtHours

When I access the form the column caption is "txtHours" !

As you can expect it looks ugly.

So to get a decent caption like "Hours" I am forced to set my textbox name to "Hours" !

As you can expect it goes against my coding standard to do that.

Beside I want the caption of some textboxes to include some non-standard letters such as `é' è' '!' ' ' etc. and if I put those in the textbox name it ruins the visual basic code !

Modules & VBA :: Datasheet View Custom Fields Duplication

Mar 2, 2015

I have a database with a large number of records: ~2000, so I use a form in datasheet view to filter and sort the records to find a particular one.

This works fine for locating a certain record.

Sometimes I then need to make a new record but I will be duplicating a few fields from the one I just found.

At the moment I manually do this by copying each field I want into word and then pasting as appropriate into fields in the new record.

Is there anyway I can still use datasheet view to search for a record, then select certain fields and have them duplicated into a new record?

I should add that the datasheet view is locked for editing, I have a separate form in single form view for entering a new record. Sort of vital information i missed out there.

Modules & VBA :: Reference Field On Datasheet - Unbound Subform Controls

Jun 2, 2014

I have placed an unbound subform on a form. I have the following code which loads in different datasheet to the subform:

'Loads in NewQuery
Me.data.SourceObject = "query.NewQuery"

'Loads in NewQuery2
Me.data.SourceObject = "query.NewQuery2"

etc.... this works fine to show these queries but i want to know how to reference the fields on the datasheet.

for example one of the fields in NewQuery is "ID"... When clicked i want to run code... normally on bound subform i could go for example ID_Click()... msgbox(me.ID)

how can i reference these other fields on unbound???

"Dis" Allowing Edits In Datasheet Mode When Macros Are Used. Why Won't This Work?

Jun 24, 2005

Hello all,

I'm looking for someone to help me understand why a form of mine that has only 3 fields - [Name], [Date], [Notes] isn't working right.
I have the form's "Allowedits = No" which works great except when I add a macro that uses the "Setvalue" to put the current user in the name field and to put the current date in the date field the form allows editing. When I take the macro out it works the way it should.
All I'm doing is creating a Journal entry area that allows one to write notes into the [Notes] field and automatically plugs in the current user and the date/time but doesn't allow editing once entered.

Is there a better way of doing this?

Thanks

Bryan

Modules & VBA :: Controlling Font Within A String

Jul 20, 2015

I have spent the better half of the afternoon researching how to accomplish controlling a bold font in a string I am building and sending to Excel.

Code:
' set text for safety hazards and controls
Concretetxt = "Concrete Demolition & vbCrLf & Hazards - dust, flying debris and skin Irritation. & vbCrLf & Control - Respirator, goggles, gloves, inspect equipment prior to use."
Excavationtxt = "Excavations & vbCrLf & Hazards - Damage to underground wires, collapse, falling materials/equipment. & vbCrLf & Control - Ensure utilities have been marked and hand dig when in close proximity, shore properly, Keep clear when lowering materials."

This is a sample of how the strings will build. I will select a task like Concrete Demolition and string it together with other tasks I would like "Concrete Demolition" in bold with the blurb following it then the next task would follow with a bold heading.

My thought is now that it may be easier to control by putting this data into a table instead of building the strings.

Modules & VBA :: Checkbox Controlling Navigation Tab

I am trying to figure out how to control a navigation tab with a checkbox. I have a database for my fire dept and the check box is called "deceased". When a member passes away, the active box gets unchecked and deceased gets checked. Under the member subform, there is a tab, navigationbutton19, that is called deceased also and under this tab all their burial information is stored. What I am trying to do is, if the checkbox is not checked, I want the tab to be enabled = false.

Modules & VBA :: Controlling Scroll Bar Position

Jul 5, 2013

So I've got a form:
- A set of unbound controls filters (using a dynamically-built WHERE statement) a subform in datatable view.
- A set of bound controls displays the currently selected subform record; the two reflect one another.
- A set of unbound checkboxes at the bottom allows the user to change which fields are displayed in the subform.

Turns out, all of this makes for a pretty big form. Some of the users have screens that will not fit the full form due to resolution settings, physical size, aspect ratio, etc. Whatever the reason, the result is one or both scrollbars appearing on the form.

The issue is this: Whenever the filter controls are changed, the form's Current event runs (because the After Update events for the filter controls all change the main form and subform's Recordsource). But the Current event causes the form to requery (or refresh?), meaning the focus returns to the control with Tab Index 1 (a "Home" button near the top of the form).

Thus, the form tends to "jump around" a lot when users are determining the records they want displayed.Is there a way to avoid this?

- Can I prevent the "Home" button from getting the focus during those times?
- Alternatively, can I set the position of the scroll bars so the user doesn't see that jumping around every time a control is updated? I found some interesting ideas that worked for continuous forms, but mine is a single form, so bookmarking methods won't solve my issue.

Prevent Subform From Being Displayed In A Mainforms Datasheetview.

Jan 27, 2006

Hi folks.

I would need some help with Access 2003.

I have a mainform, which contains a subform.
The mainform is bound via the recordsource-property to a query.
The subform is NOT bound to any recordsource and is NOT 'bound' to the mainform in any way.
It is just beeing displayed (i use it for custom filter technics).

My problem is now:
When i switch the mainform to the datasheetview, i will have (unluckily) the possibility to 'expand' each recordset via the plus-symbol on the left side of each record.
When i do this, my subform will be displayed.
But i don't want that!
My target would be, to tell the mainform not to show the subform in it's datasheetview, or better, not to display the plus-symbol at all.

Is there a way to fulfill that?

Regards,
AtzeX

Changing The Order Records Are Displayed In A Subform

Feb 27, 2006

Hi everyone. I need help on this one

I have a form with a subform. The subform is basically the sale history of the item on the main form (The main form shows a record and then the subform reports its history). This all works fantastic, except that on the subform, every time a new record is entered, it goes to the bottom of the previous one, so after a while, if I want to enter more history into the subform, I have to scroll down through all the older ones to get to the more recent ones.

How can I do it so that in the subform the most recent entry is always at the top and each time a new record is entered, the older ones move down one. This way the most recent records are always on display and older ones move down as they become less important. Likewise, the empty record used to enter data is also at the top!

Thanks!!

#deleted Displayed In Fields On Form

Aug 12, 2005

Some of my collegues have been experiencing this problem with a very simple database i knocked up for them. First off some background. I have a main form (frmproperty) with 3 subforms linked to it(frmroomdata, frmlocation and frmsample). by a property code. Two of these subforms are linked (frmlocation and frmsample) these are linked by location code which is an autonumber.

These are laid out so that you fill in room data first, then location data then finally sample data. However after the location data has been filled out and a user attempts to move to the first combobox on the sample subform a message pops up saying that another user has altered the database and would you like to save changes (Impossible as they are using the database on a local drive). After this happens they reopen the form and in all the frmsample fields is "#deleted"

This doesn't happen every time...infact over the last 2 days i have been entering data myself to try and get this error with no luck. Has anyone else come across this and know how to fix it?

Thanks in advance

Reports :: Preventing Fields From Being Displayed?

Jun 23, 2015

im working on a report at the moment that will generate a standard NIP (nutritional information panel, similar to whats on the back of pretty much all packaged food products, see link below for an example)

[URL]

this in itself is pretty easy, however depending on which market we're selling to, different countries have different requirements for which data is to be shown, ie some markets might require we show how much sodium but not how much fiber, others might require us to show how much carbs and sugars but not how much vitamin C and so on (all up there are 16 different variables for nutritional info, due to size requirements on our packaging we cant simply display all 16 all the time)

at the moment im designing a form which has a drop down box (for the user to select a product) and checkboxes for each of the 16 variables (kilojules, carbs, iron, trans fats, sat fats, etc) following this ive got a report that has all 16 variables on it

i can make the variables that arent ticked on the form invisible (by adding a bunch of IF or Case statements, on print of the report, that determine whether the corresponding checkbox for each variable has been ticked and setting the "visible" attribute to true or false accordingly), however when they are invisible there is still a blank space where the field is meant to be ive got all the fields grouped together, is there any way of making fields invisible and then pushing all the visible fields together so there are no blank spaces?

Auto Rearrange Fields Or Hide Fields In DataSheet Based On Criteria

May 17, 2007

I have main form and that has one sub-form , this Main form governs/determines the data in the sub form.

This Sub form ( DataSheet Mode) has approximately 130 columns and based on the Main form criteria only ~ 20 columns has to be filled.

What I want to do is based on the main forms criteria I want to show only the columns that are applicable to main form criteria.

If I use Columnar or Tabular single form for the Sub Form I am able to hide the fields that are not required BUT IT LEAVES A SPACE/GAP on form ( for the hidden fields that are not required)

Private Sub Form_Load()
If Forms!frmShowPIforActiveAndCanAddNewPI!FrmSubFrmFi lterProductInformationPerFMT!CASETIF = True Then

Me.CASETIF.Visible = True
Else
Me.CASETIF.Visible = False
End If
End Sub

And If I use DataSheet and hide ( visible = no) a particular filed it still shows up in Sub Form

Is there a way to Auto-Re Arrange all the fields in the sub form so that the hidden ( visible = no) fields no not leave gap

Or is there a way by VBA program to select fields ( Columns) from a table to be displayed on a sub form based on a criteria

Thanks

Forms :: Main Form Opening Subform In Add Mode But One Field Is Already Filled

Jul 20, 2015

I'm using Access 2007. I have a few problems:

1. I have a switchboard. I want to click a button, that opens a form with a dropdown list, when I make my selection, it opens a subform in add mode, but the linked field in the subform isn't empty, but filled with the mainform's field value that I selected?

OR

2. Is there a way for me to open a form in add mode, add data to it, click the add button (I will add an add button) that allows me to add again, but this time a particular field is not empty, but filled with selected info from previous selection?

Say for instance, I have 2 fields (both combo box fields), I click add, made selections for both fields, I click add again, but this time one of the fields stays constant like it's already been selected. It's filled with what was selected from before.

Either of those 2 - which ever is simpler.
