Modules & VBA :: Count Incrementally Each Duplicate Column Value In Access Query
May 30, 2014
I have a query where I need to incrementally count the repetition of column values and add that value in a new column.
Example:
"Column One" and "RepeatCounter" are fields in a query.
Column OneRepeat Counter
Value 11
Value 21
Value 31
Value 12
Value 13
Value 32
I want to create the outcome in the field "Counter" in an Access Query. I am a novice in Access VBA. I found I can do it in Excel with the formula CountIF. I am unable to do it in Access.
I am trying to automate the generation of a reference number incrementally by 1.
In my main table (tblBooking) I have my primary key field autBookingID which is an autonumber.
In another table (tblBookingStops) I have the primary key as autBookingStopsID as the autonumber and then numBookingID linked to the above table (tblBooking). I have another field called txtGPSID so this is the number I would like to automate.
So for example:
tblBooking: autBookingID: 1234 tblBookingStops:
[Code]....
I want to put the code that would populate the txtGPSID on a form in datasheet view and would like to put the code on the load event.
I'm stuck on this one part of my code where I am trying to count values in a column called 'ItemQty' in table 'dbo_Item'. I only want to count the values with the associated values in column 'OrderNumber'. I am getting the values of 'OrderNumber' from an array. Here is my code...(it doesn't work though. When I put a Msgbox to print out what the ItemQuantity value ends up to be, it only prints my code back to me.)
Code:
For Each Order In q MsgBox "Order = '" & Order & "'" ItemQuantity = ItemQuantity + ("count(ItemQty) Where OrderNumber LIKE '*" & Order & "'") Next Order
I have a report which has say two columns - staff number and visit date. For a staff number (which is unique) there may be more than one visit date. But I want to list a staff number only once and not multiple times in the column (but want all the visit dates of course). How can I do that?
In a query I need the ability to cycle two alphabet characters in sequence. First pass is "AA", next is "AB" etc. After "AZ" it would cylce to "BA". After "ZZ" it would return to "AA" and repeat the sequence again. Any help would be greatly appreciated!
I'm trying to count the number of records within a region range using a lookup table however I keep getting duplicate values, SQL code, what is happening:
SELECT Count([summary].Key) AS CountKey FROM Summary, lookup WHERE ([Region])) Between [Region 1] And [Region 2]));
Board Member(Lookup,integer) SAMGA(Lookup,integer) 44 Smith smith@abc.co.za 44 Board Member ADHTY 44 Smith smith@abc.co.za 44 Grower SAMGA 44 Smith smith@abc.co.za 44
I only want to show 1 row, based on the duplication of E-mail address. I know i should be using the row_number function, but cannot get to the result I want.
In forms, I frequenty use the following expression to get the results needed from a field's column: =EmployeeID.column(1).
However, when I try to use the column function in a query it doesn't like it: EmployeeName:[EmployeeID].Column(1)
What am I doing something wrong?
Along the same line, if I want to use =EmployeeID.column(1) for an unbound control in a form, why must you put the bound field on the form just to get the info? In this case, I want to do this to display the employee's name - not the primary key - without the scroll bar. Every time I do this, Access performance analyser tells me to use fewer controls, but you can't if you have to have the reference. The same thing seems to be required in queries, i.e. include the unaltered control to get an expression.
Help and advise, as always, will be appreciated! Christine
I would like Access to open an Excel file count the worksheets and then give each tab the name of the column heading in cell A1 of each worksheet. I had no problem with the code in Excel but when I tried to add it to Access I am getting an error on the WS_Count = obj.ActiveWorkbook.Worksheets.Count line. The error message is "Object variable or With block variable not set".
Here is the code:
Code: 'This block of code will cycle through each tab and name them Dim WS_Count As Integer Dim I As Integer
I have the below SQL statement... In table2 there is another field called timestamp1... Is it possible to have the timestamp1 included in the below statement so that I will have a record of time the moment the records were inserted in table2? There is no timestamp1 field in table1.
Code: strSQL = "Insert Into Table2(Business_Unit, Account) Select Business_Unit, Account From Table1"
I have an imported table and within this table contains a column that needs to be further delimited. I've read that it is possible to delimit columns using the left, right and mid functions, however, I need to delimit it to more than 3 columns. Maybe an estimated 6.
Examples of the data contained in the column are as follow: ITM~W01GGASPAPP1B:W6400~12.34.56.78~~W01GGASPAPP1B ~W01GGASPAPP1B~ACK~
I need to delimit it by "~". It must also be similar to Excel's text-to-column feature whereby if there're no values between 2 "~", it will be recorded as null.
The main thing I require from each record in the column is contained within the first and second "~" (even if it's null).
I have an order database using Access 2000, I need a report to list all agents that have ordered in the past year, how many times they ordered and sort by Office city.
I have SELECT tblCustomers.Type, tblAgentList.AgentID, tblAgentList.LastName, tblAgentList.FirstName, tblAgentList.Agency, tblAgentList.AgencyCity, tblAgentList.DeliveryAddress, tblAgentList.DeliveryCity, tblAgentList.DeliveryState, tblAgentList.DeliveryPostalCode, tblAgentList.[AgentOffice#], tblCustomers.InspectionDate FROM tblAgentList INNER JOIN tblCustomers ON tblAgentList.AgentID = tblCustomers.AgentID GROUP BY tblCustomers.Type, tblAgentList.AgentID, tblAgentList.LastName, tblAgentList.FirstName, tblAgentList.Agency, tblAgentList.AgencyCity, tblAgentList.DeliveryAddress, tblAgentList.DeliveryCity, tblAgentList.DeliveryState, tblAgentList.DeliveryPostalCode, tblAgentList.[AgentOffice#], tblCustomers.InspectionDate, tblCustomers.[Job#] HAVING (((tblCustomers.Type)="P") AND ((tblCustomers.InspectionDate)>[Enter starting Date:])) ORDER BY tblAgentList.AgentID, tblAgentList.AgencyCity, tblAgentList.AgentID;
It list all agents sorting by AgentID, with a line for each order. I would like to list each agent once with the number of times ordered, and then sort by AgentCity. Any help would be appreciated... Thanks in advance!:D
I Have Data In 4 Colums And I Wanna Sort And Count Duplicate Recordes For Example Id Numbers Total Trade A 123 16 B 876 19 C 976 20 D 324 12 A 123 44 B 876 34 A 123 11
I Just Wanna To Count Id And Numbers Column Like How Many Time A Use 123 Numbers Hope U Understand My Problem I M New In Access Dont Know How To Make Query
I opened a 2007 Access db in Access 2010. This DB worked perfectly in Access 2007, but when I opened it in 2010 my recordset.recordcount no longer works.
This is what I have:
rsGetInst was previously defined Dim intInstCount as integer Dim rsGetInst As New ADODB.Recordset rsGetInst.CursorLocation = adUseClient rsGetInst.CursorType = adOpenDynamic rsGetInst.LockType = adLockOptimistic
rsGetInst.open "Select * from tblInstruction where CustID = " & intCustomerID intInstCount = rsGetInst.recordcount
At this point a get a "type Mismatch" error, and it is happening in all my recordsets recordcount.
Is there a command or reference that needs to be change when using Access 2010. When I compared the references the only difference is that in 2007 we reference Microsoft Access 12.0 Object Library and in 2010 is Microsoft Access 14.0 Object Library.
I have the following code and I am trying to show a COUNT of duplicate ID numbers, so for example
ID ID_COUNT 2000 2 2000 2 2001 1 2002 1 2003 1
Code:
SELECT [DaisyServiceData-Import].*, Companies.CompanyName, Company_vs_Services.[Tariff Code], IIf([ClashForce]=True,"",IIf([ClashOveride]=False And [ClashClear]=False,IIf([DaisyServiceData-ClashExc].[DaisyServiceData-Import].[ID] Is Null,"",1),"")) AS ClashExc, IIf([Sell Price]="","",IIf([SellRateForce]=True,"",IIf([CompanyName] Is Null,"",IIf([SellRateOveride]=False And [SellRateClear]=False,IIf([Total Cost]>[Sell Price]+0.001,1,""))))) AS SellRateExc, IIf([Tariff Code]='1',[T1Rate],
[Code] ...
A GROUP BY query will not work for me as the recordset needs to remain updatable.
I am designing a project in which there is a form and on that form there is a textbox and Browse button. With browse button you can select a file from the dialog box and that file path will appear in the textbox. This part has been done as below:
Code: Private Sub CommandButton1_Click() ChooseFile End Sub Sub ChooseFile()
Dim fd As FileDialog Set fd = Application.FileDialog(msoFileDialogFilePicker)
[Code] ....
Now the next Part i.e Part2 in which we have to see the references present in Column D of the "Summary" worksheet of the workbook whose path is present in textbox1 and check if they match with any of the references in field "Ref" of the Access table named tblLiterature.
If value in column D matches with Ref field of the Access table then change the status field of the Access table to the corresponding columns A,B,C named as "Withdrawn","Obsolete","Updated". that means if the column A of the corresponding Reference is Y then change the status field to "Withdrawn". If column B is Y then change the status to "Obsolete" and if column C is Y then change the status to "Updated".
Please see attached the workbook as this kind of workbook will be searched against Access table .
I would like to export from access a recordset into Excel and bold the column headers.
My current code works for the most part, except for the bolding.
You run the code in Access module and the code does the following:
1) checks to see if the excel file is open
2) if excel file not open, it opens the file, clears existing records, and starts copying and pasting new recordset into the RAW worksheet
3) it is then supposed to bold the column headers.
bolding is not working.
Code: Sub TestFileOpened() Dim lastRow As Long ' Test to see if the file is open. If IsFileOpen("c: est2003.xls") Then ' Display a message stating the file in use. MsgBox "File already in use!"
I am using Access 2010 on a Windows 7 laptop. I need a query to provide a list of ID's that have more than one occurrence of IDandDate combined but haven't been successful getting past syntax errors.
Using this table structure as an example: ID - defined as text field Date - defined as date/time field TestValue
This legacy table contains a record for each test. The table should be unique based on the ID and Date combination but was never restricted to that rule. I am converting to a new table but need to identify the duplicate entries so they can be addressed by business folks.
I have a table with a field 'FName'. I have run a query to count the number of each Name in this field. However, as well as having a blank field with 9129 results (which was expected) but another with 24 results that appears to be completely blank as well. There are another couple of incidences were results in 'FName' are appearing twice.
Using Access 2007..I have a table where the RecordID is an autonumber, and PK.To set this table up I have a load routine, (becuase I have done this multiple times for testing and further deveopment and I compact and repair the DB prior to loading) - the 690 records are correct numerically and autonumbered. This table has transactional data where existing records are updated and new records are appended.
I found the autonumber was not incrementally increasing - so no reseed the auto number (using ALTER TABLE 3IWSPLans ALTER COLUMN RecordID COUNTER (1000,1)) prior to starting the transactions.
New transactions will append correctly, up untill I amend a existing record (using a delete and append query via a staging table) - then the autonumber tries to reuse a number already in the table and because its not unique it errors.why the auto-number is not incrementally increasing correctly
In sheet 1, In column A all the Batch numbers are present. So I want to check if each of these is present in Access table named "tblmain". If its present then display its corresponding Policy number in Column B of attached workbook.
