Hello All, I have MSAccess ade working in some computers which has WindowsXP-pro(SP1 and SP-2) without any problem. But It doesnot work(When i said it doesn't work means it doesn't work in certain parts which i will give an example) in some computers that has exact same configaration. The problem is when I try to instance a class using a TypeName function, it doesnot recognize the class name and just returns an object rather than recognizing the class's name. Its a strange thing because I have some .ade from past works fine in all machines. The only difference is In the new .Ade is I have included the Microsoft outlook 11.0 object library. But the part of the code thats not working doesn't even use the Outlook library at all. So did anyone has this kind of problem, PLease suggest or ask me if you have more details of this problem. I really appreciate your help. Thanks again ds111
I have a large table (>1M rows), and I have searched various forums for a way to add sequential numbers by Group. The query I have works, but since it's a large table, I broke it up, and did everything what starts with A-E, the F-Q, etc, and appended to a new table.
This query works, on anything that starts with the letter D or later... A-C will not work.
Basically, the source table is a list of all combinations of Part_ID and UPC_Code. I am trying to number the UPC_Code field, per Part_ID. There is an AutoNumber field (ID) that is in the table as well.
This is the SQL. Query1 is the query that is being executed, so the DCount is within this same query, if that makes sense.
Code: SELECT tbl_upc.ID, tbl_upc.Part_ID, tbl_upc.upc_code, DCount("[Part_ID]","Query1","[Part_ID] = '" & [Part_ID] & "'")-DCount("[Part_ID]","Query1","[Part_ID] = '" & [Part_ID] & "' AND [ID] > " & [ID]) AS Seq_Num FROM tbl_upc GROUP BY tbl_upc.ID, tbl_upc.Part_ID, tbl_upc.upc_code ORDER BY tbl_upc.ID;
The results of this query are that all Part_IDs that start with A through C produces a Seq_Num of 0, but any that start with a "D" or later number correctly - in other words, the first instance of a particular Part_ID is 1, then 2, and so on up to the total count of that Part_ID.
i made an attendance db for work and got it to work. i then copied it and made two more for years 2 and 3. Years 1 and 3 work perefectly but for some reason the year 2 db won't allow me to write the data.
this is driving me nuts as i have already spent a few hours putting the students in and their course selections. i've tried making the forms again and as soon as i use a joint sub form to get the students first name the problem occurs. i've looked at the properties of the forms and they allow edits etc..
if anyone is feeling kind and has a spare moment, could you let me know why it doesn't work.
basically am creating a booking system, i have a add a room form. my form should check whether i already have a room number in my table, which works when the form is filled in. however when my form is null, then i press add new room button, i get this error rather than " please fill your form in"
Error: runtime error '3075' syntax error (missing operator) in query expression 'Room Number ='.
room number is a number field, integer but has primary key. i cant keep autonumber, as my requirement is to add new room number, but the roomnumber has to be unique.
here is the dlookup;
If DLookup("RoomNumber", "tblRooms", "RoomNumber = " & Forms!RoomPackages!txtRoomNumber) > 0 Then MsgBox "This number already exists." Else
I have an edit button in my form which activates VBA, collects all data from the fields and edit the dataset. Everything work fine except the case that next to the edit access adds a new record as well with exactly the same data.
This is my code :
Dim db As Database Dim rs As Recordset Set db = CurrentDb Set rs = db.OpenRecordset("select * from tbllocations where locationid = " & cdkey)
[code]...
I checked every parameter and it seems everything is OK which surely is the base for the correct edit of the dataset. locationid is the key of the table.
I have a simple bit of code that searches for a [User Name] field the basic idea is I place a field called "search" on a form and set its on change to
Private Sub Search_Change() Search.SetFocus strtarget = Search.Text If strtarget < "a" Then strtarget = "a" [User Name].SetFocus DoCmd.FindRecord strtarget, acStart, False, acSearchAll, False, acCurrent, True Search.SetFocus Search.SelStart = 100 End Sub
it takes the text entered in the search field and calls it Strtarget then resets focus on the field I want eg [user name] once the search has done it resets the focus on the search field so you can carry on typing this works very well unless the search string starts with a letter I.
i have an orders form with aorder details sub form.I need a grand total of the order that i need to store in my orders table. Cant seem to make anything to work is this becouse my form is a sub form .Basically i am doing a dsum quantity *sold at price with a where id information.Doi i have to do anything special as the info is in the sub forms table
Every time i try to get info from a sub form or its table ,Things never sem to work.Is there something special you have to do for eg maybe going via the main form?I am trying to use dsum as an alternative to multiplying info in the sub form.This is the code
I want to replace some values in a TNS_QUERY with DSUM. The error message tells me I have to use an updateable table.
How can I avoid to create a query and replace the values directly in the original table TNS? I just group on the original table.
Code: Public Sub TNS_QUERY() Dim strSQL As String Dim x As Double Dim qdf As QueryDef strSQL = "SELECT TNS.[Division],TNS.[Customer_Split],SUM([TOTAL_NET_SALES])
I have the following code that creates a long string that works most of the time but sometimes gets cut short. I can't understand why it does this. When it cuts the string short it cuts it short in the same place. Everything gets in the string up to/or about the following code '</Practice Name>'This string is needed to upload info to a server.
i have the following code that hides 5 buttons depending if the user has permission which works fine.im trying to incorporate an IF statement if there is only 1 of the buttons visible then to automatically click the button. but if there is more than 1 do noting?
Code:
Private Sub Form_Open(Cancel As Integer) Dim rsO As DAO.Recordset Set rsO = CurrentDb.OpenRecordset("SELECT tblUserPermission.UserFK, tblUserPermission.CompanyFK, tblUserPermission.Permission " & _ "FROM tblUserPermission INNER JOIN tblUser ON tblUserPermission.UserFK = tblUser.UserPK " & _ "WHERE Username = '" & Me.txtName.Value & "'")
I am trying to use dsum to calculate a sum from either a table or query to display on a form and this needs to be for different services within a period so I am using the following:
The Query is called KatiesPeriodTakings The field I want totalled is called Price The date field is AppDate and the 2 controlling dates are the Startdate and EndDate from the Form
I need to check the combination of a text box and a combo box that are bound to the same table for duplicates and then give a message box telling of the existing records. The 2 fields are set up as a compound index so access displays a generic message but I am trying to customize the message without doing it through error trapping (because I want it earlier in the processes on the form).
I am trying to us Dcount as follows but this is not working. It seems to be checking for either rather than a combination of the 2 fields because I get my message if either the Description OR the Group is duplicated (both of the text box and the combo box can have duplicates and it is only the combination that is singular) .
If DCount("[Description]", "[ItemTBL]", "[Description] = '" & Description & "'") And DCount("[Group]", "[ItemTBL]", "[Group] = '" & Group & "'") > 0 Then MsgBox "This Item is already in the database.", vbExclamation, "Already in Database"
Im a relative novice with access VBA, and I'm really struggling with using Dcount with date variable. All I want to do is count if a certain date appears in a table. Here is the extract from my code:
Whatever dates are in tblworkoutlogs, datecount is still = 0...I've trawled the net and tried many variations of the code but no success!if I change all the date formats to strings in the code and the tables, it works so I know i'm looking in the correct place.
Upgraded from Access 2003 to Access 2010. My DCount query was working fine in Access 2003 for many years but now I am having issues. Everything is written in VBA.
Routine: 1.) Insert records into table tblEmployee 2.) Query table tblEmployee to count how many employees are in each department using DCount.
Issue: DCount returns 0 for all Departments.
Findings: If I manually open table tblEmployee and edit an employees department (I actually named it the same department), DCount will then find 1 person in that department (the record I manually edited). It seems a manually edited record will be counted but anything written by the insert query is ignored.
I have a tblManualRewardIncident in there I have 3 fields I want to have my staff in put these rewards via a frmRewardIncidentEntry However im concerned over another staff member in putting the same data so I want the form to highlight on update that a duplicate is there already so cancel the data entry.
The 3 fields that need to check and match are StrataID , DateOfIncident , EndDateOfIncident these are all in the tblManualRewardIncident and appear as buttons in the form frmRewardIncidentEntry the buttons are as follows cboStrataID , txtDateOfIncident , txtEndDateOfIncident
I want the VBA to run when I CLICK another button on same form cboSQCDP..All 3 fields must match exactly to flag a issue.
StrataID , DateOfIncident , EndDateOfIncident from tblManualRewardIncident
If it doesn't find a match continue and add the inputs in these boxes to the table if it finds a match flag a message and delete the data from the form.
In my database when an item is currently being loaned the item's loaned field will have a 1 to indicate this. When the item is returned the value is 0. Only so many items are available and when I use the DCount function it is counting the 0s as 1s.
I'm trying reference a dcount on two fields, one is a string and works fine, the other is on a date which does not.
I've investigated the problem and found a couple of references to making sure I use a # symbol to reference the date but I think the thing that's throwing the comparison out is that the date field stores time as well, even if you can't see it?
I thought should count the records in the healthcheck table that match the check_date field against the first_health field on the current form, but I keep getting a 0 count even though the dates seem to match.
My DCount statement is not finding a record that I know is there.
Code: Private Sub Transfer_WN_Books_Click() Dim ST As String ST = "H" If DCount("*", "Books", Author = " & Me!AuthorID & " And StatFlag = " & ST & ") > 0 Then DoCmd.Beep End If End Sub
I can't get the following DCOUNT working for the life of me: DCount("EmployeeName", "tblAttendance", "EmployeeName = '" & cboEmployee Name. Value & "'" And "AttendanceDate = #" & txtAttendanceDate.Value & "#")I have checked this forum along with Google and there seems to be no easy way to do this? I have tried editing the syntax over and over again. I have been able to run a query and get the desired result in that query; however I am unable to call that result in VBA.
If expression to determine if a duplicate records has been entered.
DateAte is a date MealType is a list box (text)
All I want to do is prevent two lunches, etc. from being entered on the same date. Code that results in the message box every time, regardless if a duplicate record or not.
Private Sub MealType_AfterUpdate() Dim strDA As String Dim DA As Date DA = Me.DateAte.Value strDA = "[DateAte]=" & "#" & DA & "#" If DCount("[MealType]", "tblmeals", strDA) > 1 Then
I am trying to check if a record exists, but I keep getting a error!!!
Private Sub Command10_Click() If DCount("*", "tbl", "[ID] = "") <> 0 Then MsgBox "This record already exists. Else stDocName1 = "McrAddNewRecord" DoCmd.RunMacro stDocName1 End If End Sub
I am trying to put in a control measure which won't allow the user to accidentally add a client to areferral more than once. The simplified relationship structure reads:
I am as a far as using a dlookup which correctly gives the error message, but only if it is the first client added to the tblClientReferral table. If the hypothetical situation arises in which the user adds a client, then adds a second client to the referral and accidentally adds the second clientn twice, the Dlookup is not picking this up.
I suppose the solution is using a dlookup which has the criteria saying if the referralID = 'this' AND the clientID = 'this' Then 'do this'. But as far as I am aware you cannt use AND in the criteria?? atleast, it hasn't worked when I tried. A snippet of the vba code used is below:
Dim objClient As Object Set objClient = Forms![frmAddClient]![cboClientID]
If (DLookup("clientID", "tblClientReferral", _ "referralID = Forms![frmReferral]![referralID]")) = objClient Then MsgBox "Client already added" GoTo ExitSub Else
