My question is how can I create a table listed with numbers as an access list? Right now only the ######## has access but I'd like to create a table for numbers who will have access.
how do you loop through and insert selected data from a listbox on at a time? For example, lets say you have an insert statement that has a firstname, lastname, CarsID(foreign key) and address field. Lets say you had another table that has ID and CarsID(primary key) field. In the listbox, you have populated it with all the cars and they are selected.
Example:
INSERT INTO PEOPLE(firstname, lastname, CarsID) VALUES('John','Smith','Honda') INSERT INTO PEOPLE(firstname, lastname, CarsID) VALUES('John','Smith','FORD')
I'm trying to create a checklist in my access database that can be assigned to different companies. Is there a way to maintain a blank checklist so that we don't have to recreate it every time we start working with a new company?
The columns are PayPeriod, StartDate, EndDate, FiscalYear
What I want to be able to do is highlight a chunk of dates and have the first selected StartDate and the last selected EndDate populate two hidden text boxes so I can use them for my queries/reports.
I've tried a couple different ways. Each time what happens is it only uses the last item I have selected in it's calculations.
Code: Dim ItemIndex As Variant For Each ItemIndex In Me.lstPayPeriods.ItemsSelected If Me.lstPayPeriods.Selected(ItemIndex) And Me.lstPayPeriods.Selected(ItemIndex - 1) = False Then Date1.SetFocus Date1.Text = Me.lstPayPeriods.Column(2, Me.lstPayPeriods.ListIndex) End If Next
In this example I tried to have it go through each Item of the listbox. I wanted to check to see if the current row was selected and the row before it wasn't. That way I could determine it was the first item selected in the group of selected items. It would always only use the last item I had selected.
Code: Dim CurrentRow As Integer Dim FirstDate As Date For CurrentRow = 0 To Me.lstPayPeriods.ListCount - 1 If Me.lstPayPeriods.Selected(CurrentRow) Then Date2.SetFocus
[Code] ....
I tried to do something similar with this code. Again, it only uses the last item I have selected.
I have a database split into a front-end and a back-end. The back-end is stored on a shared drive. I have learnt that any user who has only read access to the shared drive and opens the front-end will be opening the database in Exclusive Mode as he'll be unable to create the locking file and would hence be inhibiting all other users from editing the database.
This is a game spoiler. Is it possible to disable this user from opening the database at all. Or can we do a check in VBA if the user has opened it in exclusive mode and then just push him out giving an error message.;
how to input alarm in my access database? I have data that should be insert over and over in 4 hours duration, when I put first data, I get local time and I need timer that could count 4 hours and after to make notification (massage) that the time for the Product of the database are over and need to input clean Product.
something like in first--> ProductTime is column from Access Database i=j=ProductTime; for (i=0;i>= j+4hours, i++) { If(i=j+4h) { msgbox("ALARM- TIME is OVER"); } }
I started quite simple, just wanted to read to node MsgId. This is the code I use:
Private Sub ReadXML_Click() Dim aDoc As DOMDocument60 Dim aNode As IXMLDOMNode Set aDoc = New MSXML2.DOMDocument60 aDoc.async = False aDoc.Load DLookup("C:Sample.XML")
[Code] ....
Whatever I try: //MsgId or MsgId the results is "No nodes". How to read to XML.
Besides reading one node, the next challenge will be iterating the PmtInf node. There can be 1 in the XML file but also 50.
Is it possible to edit the recent files of a access database?
We have a main database (version control database) from where you can open a database which is located on a network drive.
By selecting the datbase you need from a dropdown menu, access will check which version you have locally. If there is an updated version available on the network it will download this updated version, overwriting the old one. The 'main' database is then closed and the local version of the database you needed is opened.
The problem is that this local database is mentioned in the recent files history so people are able to bypass using the main database.
In Excel you can clear the recent files with application. Recent Files setting the maximum to 0 and back to original again. In Access you do not have this option.
Where I would be able to find this option. Ideally I'd like to only take out a specific databasename from the recent files, rather then resetting the full list.
So I want a way to update Status of my rows according to numbers list. For example I want to update Status column for multiple numbers to become Done .
Simply I want to update "Null status" to become "Done" according to its numbers according to this list
Code: 1234 53 546 767 2135 6657 43 34
Something like this
I tried "update query" but I don't know how to use criteria to solve this problem. In Excel I did that by "conditional formatting duplicates" -with my number list which I wanted to update - Then "sort by highlighted color" then "fill copy" the status with the value...
Everyday I have to generate a report in excel format and I need it to be added to ms access database. I was hoping to do this on a click of a button. Basically, since i have a new data everyday it should be added to the table.
I have a split db with tables in the back end and my forms, reports, code etc. in the front end.
I encrypted the back end with a password. That worked fine.
I deleted and relinked my tables to the encrypted back end. That worked fine as well.
I have a function that will disable the shift key bypass. If I run that in my front end db then I can't save it as an accde because I can't get to the HOME screen. If I save it as an accde first then I can't run my 'disable shift key bypass' function because I can't get to the modules!
How can I secure a split Access 2010 database so that the user cannot execute shift bypass on the front end or make any changes to the code?
"how to COMPACT the DB by introducing delay of 10 seconds and then close the DB".In the Database, I'm able to accomplish the "Compact" the database using the function below.
Function Compact() SendKeys "%(FMC)", False End Function
As my DB is quite huge, the Compact action takes around 10 seconds to complete. Now, i would like to Close the Database after Compacting the DB. I tried including "DoCmd.Quit" in the function. The commands in the function, closes the DB but the Compact function doesn't seem to have executed as it needs 10 seconds to complete.
Function Compact() SendKeys "%(FMC)", False DoCmd.Quit End Function
how to introduce this delay of 10 seconds and then close the DB.
Is there a way to connect access database with a softphone? I have an IP PBX and a soft phone and i need to click on a form and auto dial the contact. My DB contains all the data I need and also PBX.
PBX running asterisk software.
Do i need a module or something like TAPI that call windows dialer (but win dialer use a modem and not Ip phone I guess)..Or something that just wake up voip softphone and paste data?
Im trying to create a command that will create a backup of my access database once every week. here is the code I've got so far. it works, but not once a week but every time I start the access:
MsgBox ("Hello! Starting Backup procedure")
Dim DateOfBackup As Date Dim strSourcePath As String Dim strSourceFile As String Dim strBackupFile As String Dim SQL As String
I have files that have extension of TSV which are text files but viewable in exel. I figured out a way for the user to click on a button in Access which does the following
1. Run Macro in Excel: The macro prompts the user to select the TSV file. After selection, macro opens the employee.tsv file in the excel (with excel being invisible) and saves it as employee.xls
Code: Sub SaveTSVtoXLS() Dim myPath As String Dim myString As Variant Application.DisplayAlerts = False With Application.FileDialog(msoFileDialogOpen)
[Code] .....
2. Imports the Excel file (employee.xls) into two tables: tblEmployee and tblDepartment using the following codes.
I have tried to create an MDE database and receive the message "Microsoft Access was unable to create an MDE database" I deleted all unnecessary tables, queries, forms and reports and still receive this message.
creating auto number field in access database. I have an access database which 20 million records. When i am trying to add auto number field i am getting error "File sharing lock count exceeded".Then i did some google search and got some information like editing the registry file , in my case its not possible due to security restrictions. And another option of adding a code in VB immediate window also i tried but this option is also not working.
Using Access 2007, can I return a value for CurrentProject.FileFormat WITHOUT opening the database?
I'm looking for a way to determine the file version of a given Access database without actually "opening" the database in Access (I don't want it to ever be visible at all or in any way).
So to open a database in Access 2007 "without opening it," I'm using:
Code: Dim db As DAO.Database Set db = DBEngine.Workspaces(0).OpenDatabase("C:Path-ToFile.accdb")
From here, there are at least two different "version" indicators that can be used, as in this example:
Now, if you run this code on an Access 2002/2003 .MDB file, you will get:
Code: 4.0 09.50
If you run this code on an Access 2007 .ACCDB file, you get:
Code: 12.0 09.50
Note two important factors:The db.Properties("Version") seems to be returning the JET version from what I can see in research. This is NOT what I'm after.
The db.Properties("AccessVersion") returns THE SAME VALUE for an '07 ACCDB as it does for an '02-'03 MDB, since Microsoft never updated it, apparently.
Now.... the one way that I have found that ACCURATELY describes the version of a given access database file is to use:
Code: Debug.Print CurrentProject.FileFormat
...as this will always return, for example, 2.0 for an Access 2.0 .MDB file; 10 for an Access 2002/03 .MDB file; and 12 for and Access 2007 .ACCDB file (and there are others; these are AcFileFormat bitmask constants as described in Access support).
BUT, this CurrentProject object doesn't seem to be available (so far as I can see) when using the "open without opening" method described above.
SO, is there any way to return the FileFormat value without opening the database visibly? (Merely basing it in the extension isn't right either.... that would be easy but not accurate as several formats use MDB.
I have an App that runs a few action queries using:
Code: CurrentDb.Execute "[My Query Name]"
At some point I get this Error: The Microsoft Access database engine cannot find the input table or query <name>. Make sure it exists and that its name is spelled correctly. (Error 3078).The query is there, I can run it from the DB objects window.Queries run using CurrentDb.Execute earlier in the code.
I would also like to automatically attach on the server to this email. Such a file stored such as servernamesharefilename.pdf. Is it possible to do this?
