Delete Only FK On The Many Side And The Record On The One Side

Hi,

I want to Delete only FK on the many side first and the record on the one side by one click of a button. I wrote some code which sometimes works and sometimes it does not!!

I wonder if any one have a better idea or doing this please?

Reports :: Report To Show Records Side By Side?

So I'm trying to manipulate Access to create a Directory for my church. I'm trying to get a report to show the church staff, which I was able to do, but I was wondering, is it possible to get the records to show side by side instead of one on top of the other?

I included a picture of the design view showing what I would like to see. Excuse the way the numbers are written, it's hard to write with a mouse.

I have split my database, the data is in a DB on the server and the forms, reports, etc is on the client desktop. My question is "Is there an advantage to having all of my combo box queries (Lookups) on the server side (defined in the table as a combo lookup) or should I put the all on the form so that they reside in client side DB.

Reports :: Cut Off Left-hand Side Of Text In Textbox And Show Only Right-hand Side

I have a report with some text boxes on it. Sometimes the text in these boxes can be a very long string of characters (maybe a path to some folder). In this case I do not want the text box to grow. I just want the report to show me the right-hand side of this path and cut off the left. How do I do this when still aligning my text to the left?

2. If ColumA has already value do not delete add new valued at the end where ; if found.

I'm using Access 2007.

So far I have a Multi Select enabled list on which the user selects the serial numbers they want. They then click the "Report" button which will trigger a query based on the selected serial numbers to create a report on those serial numbers.

I have the code for the multi-select list working already. It creates a string of comma separated values that are the serial numbers which are selected in the list. Somehow I need to pass this string to my query so it can use it as a filter.

No Record On Many Side

I have two queries, property info (one) and budgets v spend (many). I'm trying to work out what the gross price is, property cost plus budget or spend (which ever is higher). Got that working no problem.

However if there is no budget or spend I just need to show the property cost but I'm just getting Error#. I've tried using the nz function but that's not working.

Any ideas?

PS:- I am trying to solve the cannot update /delete because of "modifications due to multiple base tables "issue and I am not sure if attempting to add in the On delete event would fix it (instead of an instead of delete trigger since it would be useless to setup triggers with one table to update ). I am thinking of doing the same with update in the after update event.

I'm using Access 2007..I have a table that contains transaction records from a bound form.When the user enters a certain type of transaction, I create a corresponding transaction in the after insert event.

Example
User record - tranId = 1, tranAmt = 10, tranType = DISB, tranAssocID = 0
My record - tranId = 2, tranAmt = 10, tranType = RECV, tranAssocID = 1

When the user deletes a record, I want to delete my corresponding record using the tranAssocID ( delete * from tran_tbl where tranAssocID = (the tranID of the user's record)

Problem:
1) I don't know how to save the tranID of the users record
2) I don't know how to reference the saved tranID in the delete statement.

I'm using the before delete confirm event to try to save the users tranID to no avail.I'm using the after delete confirm to delete my record in a case statement - acDeleteOK...I tried to save the value of the ID in the form (Me.tid) to a public long variable, a hidden field on the form, and a temporary variable to no avail.

One-to-many - For Each One, Count Corresponding Records On Many Side

I have data which has a one-to-many relationship and I would like to display in a form (or webpage) both the one and the many side of the relationship and to display a count of the number of records on the many side which correspond to each individual record on the one side.

I attach a zipped .mdb file containing dummy data which includes a pair of linked forms showing where I've got to so far with implementing the idea. If the Words form is opened first, the linked form, Associations can be opened by clicking on the Associations button.

(Incidentally, I need to do something to control where and at what size the two forms open on screen. I think I've seen from a post on this forum that what I need is DoCmd.MoveSize.)

The problem I'm hoping someone will help me solve is how to get the count of the records on the many side to appear only once and, preferably in the Words form, not the Associations form. If you view the forms in the attachment, you will see that at the moment the count appears once for each item on the many side in the Associations form.

I'm a beginner and am unsure if the solution is very simple, perhaps involving referencing a hidden control in the Associations form with a path to that control comprising various identifiers joined with ! and or . , or perhaps using a simple snippet of Visual Basic, or whether I'm asking for help with something which is actually difficult.

I'd like to override the default behaviour for deleting records in a form.Specifically, I want to build my own custom delete procedure so that when the user presses the Del button, my code fires to complete the deletion of the selected record(s). In order to do that, I'd set Allow Deletions = No for that form. I'd also want to code the KeyDown event for the Del key so that if record(s) are selected, my custom delete code fires, else the default behavior for the Del key happens.I'm primarily interested in how I might code the KeyDown event.

I'm trying to run this very very simple code but I get a Run-time error '3450' Syntax error in query. Incomplete query clause. For sure the problem is the variable I used as Table parameter but I cannot understand where my error is :

Problem: I need to delete data from only one table (tblClientesExamesRequisitados) of a inner join, but only delete from the "wrong" (tblExamesTipos) table.

After going to msdn on title: Unique Table, Unique Schema, Unique Catalog Properties-Dynamic (ADO) I attempted to address the problem with this line in the Class_Initialize():

But only generates this: Run Time Error 3265 - Item not found in this collection...

I know, if I open another Rst and use a Distinctrow, or open only one table, as in "DELETE * FROM tblClientesExamesRequisitados WHERE intQualExame = " & miQualExame & ";" it will resolve, but, why "Unique Table" isn't functioning?

I have a very simple 2010 Access database with only one table which contains a few fields (username, email, phone....)

I have a combobox with unbound controls to search/find users (by the lastname field). The combobox is in the header section which populates the fields (controls?) in subform below.

I have a delete button with some VBA code which allows the user to delete the currently displayed record however when the form refreshes, I end up with two issues:

1: I see #deleted# in the combobox dropdown until the dbase is closed/reopened (it's only typically used by one person at a time.) Compact/Repair doesn't seem necessary, especially since i think it's pretty difficult to do this programatically (?)

2: There are blank rows in the combobox dropdown from where the data used to reside after deleting the record.

I haven't been able to figure out how to remove those blank rows and refresh the combobox to display the remaining records (with the blank rows removed). So I have dozens of blank rows. Me.Requery doesn't seem to work.

My assumption is that the blank rows exist because I'm deleting the content from the combobox's initial creation?

Is there a better way to allow user's to see the list of user's and then be able to select that record and delete it?

If I use a simple search box on a form where people have to type a (last name for example), if it's spelled incorrectly, then nothing would be found.

Concatenating The Many Side Results Into One Result

i am trying to join the results of a many-side of a query into one result field separated by commas...

Table: tblWorkOrderStoresFinal
Row 1: LogNumber: 1StoreNumber: 2
Row 2: LogNumber: 1StoreNumber: 3
Row 3: LogNumber: 1StoreNumber: 4

I would like to make a query that combines the StoreNumber into one field CombineStoreNumbers separated by commas as follows...

LogNumber: 1 CombineStoreNumbers: 2, 3, 4

I tried the following crosstab query, but it's not quite right.
TRANSFORM StoreNumber
SELECT LogNumber
FROM tblWorkOrderStoresFinal
WHERE (((LogNumber)=1))
GROUP BY LogNumber
PIVOT StoreNumber;

Any ideas? Hope this makes sense.
