I am trying to use SQL to run queries in our access database in order to (hopefully) speed things up. I'm trying to create code that basically takes data from one table and inserts it into another whilst doing calculations on the data.
However I can't get past this:
Code: Private Sub Test_Click() Dim strSQL As String
I`m currently having the problem to export data from an SQL server into a table. I managed to open a recordset but I`m incapable of adding the recordset to an existing table. I found similar threads but I am still not able to generate functioning code.
Code: Function fDAOServerRecordset() Dim db As DAO.Database Dim dblcl As DAO.Database Dim rssql As DAO.Recordset
How to Delete data from only one table from a Join? OR How to set the ADO recordset unique table property?
On Access 2010 module I have a class that manipulate data (save, read, edit and delete) from this statement:
Code: Private Const strNomeTblFonte as string = _ "SELECT ER.*, ET.intTipoExame, ET.txtNomeExame, FROM tblExamesTipos ET INNER JOIN tblClientesExamesRequisitados ER ON ET.idExamesTipos = ER.intQualExame;" Private Sub Class_Initialize() Set mCol = New Collection
[Code] ....
Problem: I need to delete data from only one table (tblClientesExamesRequisitados) of a inner join, but only delete from the "wrong" (tblExamesTipos) table.
After going to msdn on title: Unique Table, Unique Schema, Unique Catalog Properties-Dynamic (ADO) I attempted to address the problem with this line in the Class_Initialize():
But only generates this: Run Time Error 3265 - Item not found in this collection...
I know, if I open another Rst and use a Distinctrow, or open only one table, as in "DELETE * FROM tblClientesExamesRequisitados WHERE intQualExame = " & miQualExame & ";" it will resolve, but, why "Unique Table" isn't functioning?
I am attempting to insert a record with selected data into a temp table and I am getting "Run-time error '3075': Syntax error in (comma)...". Here is the code:
Code: Private Sub XferDataToTempTable() Dim db As Database Dim strSQL As String Set db = CurrentDb
I have a table called "EquipmentRequired" which is populated by 4 append queries,
5000BaseReq, 6000BaseReq, 6000IFBBReq, EquipmentReq which get some of their information by counting fields in another table but all have the same field names.
The queries contain all data that is initially used to append new records to the table and this works fine.Unless some information changes or a record is added then I would like to add a button to a form and call it "update equipment" behind which would run a vba code firstly to delete all the records in "EquipmentRequired" table then run the 4 queries without the warnings and re-populate the table.
I have a public sub routine which requires parameters to be passed to it when I call it from an access form. When I try to enter the code to call the sub I get a compile error. I've also tried calling it from another sub in the same module but get the same compile error - see below.
Code: Sub EmailData(Datafile As String, To_mail As String, CC_mail As String, Subject_mail As String) 'code to use variables passed in End Sub
I have 28 combo boxes on a form, which I want to insert data into the table as they are changed. Each one will pass the same sets of data just with different parameters which come from the form.
Rather than putting the same code to insert on each of the 28 combo boxes I thought it would be easier to create a function to do it and pass the parameters to it through a sub on the AfterUPdate event of the combo box.
I need to pass 4 parameters, if I only put 1 in there it works fine, but when I start putting more in it doesnt work and I get compile errors or syntax errors.
Sub routine:
Code: Private Sub cboMonday1_AfterUpdate() If Me.cboMonday1 = 1 Then Me.cboMonday1.BackColor = vbGreen Me.cboMonday1.ForeColor = vbBlack
The problem is lately; while testing I am running multiple queries in a routine. When it fails; its hard to identify which query has the problem. So I hit control break; debug and try to find it. After I fix it; I debug and reset; i get this continuing hourglass thing in the form of a spinning circle until I close and reopen the database. I think I need better error handling but not something really complicated because I need to put it in quite a few routines throughout the database.
I have a parent table (tblLabels) and a child table (tblRevision) where the revision history for the parent table is kept.
The parent table is populated via an excel import and may have several records imported at once. Instead of having the user manually enter a new record note in the child table for each record imported into the parent table, I've created a form that collects the necessary data (date, person who added the record, person who authorized the record, and notes) and then creates a revision history for each new record.
This is what I have so far:
Code:
Private Sub cmdAddNotes_Click() Dim strSQL As String Dim RevisionDate As String Dim RevisionRevisedBy As String Dim RevisionDesc As String
[Code] ....
When I run the code nothing happens. No error, no new records create, etc. My suspicion is that I may need to use an INSERT INTO query instead of an UPDATE query, but I'm not sure how to go about matching up the foreign keys if that's the case.
I have a small database where we enter audit log data. In my add add screen from the switchboard, one of the fields is the user the audit is assigned to. So that our group wouldn't be typing their names a bunch of different ways I created a reference table called "Ref Data 005 - Contact Name". So i pre-populate the Contact Names such that they will be more consistent.
The add works perfectly. I built all my screens using the forms wizards.
Now for the modify routine. If the user wants to go in an modify one of the other data elements, I force them in the wizard to do this modify by choosing thier name. Therefore, when i built this screen using the wizard I reference the "ref table" mentioned above. I then throw open another form displaying all of the fields based on the records that it finds for that user when they choose the name from the Ref data 005 table. Hope that makes sense. Ie.. they choose the records they want to possibly modify by first choosing their name from the ref table.
It correctly pulls the records for whatever user you choose. However, when you make the update and save, it is changing the Ref table name as well.
So for example if three users were in my ref as : bill joe john
And you launch the form, lets say joe shows up in the list, when i change it to bill to retrieve bill's records , it will do that but when i make the change, then Joe is changed to bill in the reference table.
I have a form with a sub form. when a record is choosen in a combo box the sub form is filled out with a record.
what I am trying to do is have a button that will copy that record to a history table then delete it off the the main table.
I cheated by using the wizard to get the code to delete the record but I am having troubles modifying the code to copy that record to the history table. Here is the code below. I have tried to insert code in several places but it just errors out.
'------------------------------------------------------------ ' Master_tbl_sub_fm ' '------------------------------------------------------------ Function Master_tbl_sub_fm() On Error GoTo Master_tbl_sub_fm_Err With CodeContextObject On Error Resume Next
I've got a form, user inputs a whole bunch of data and the data is stored into 2 different tables (using a form and subform), however i also need to copy a few fields from the subform into another table (as a new record) the table i intend to insert this data into (tblAdjustments) has four fields (that im interested in) Type, Reason, Quantity and Product (not the exact names) Type and reason are both just straight strings and will be the same each time, regardless of what the other two variables are, so i need type to equal "Finished Goods" and Reason to equal Produced further to that, the subfrom has 2 fields, batchPackedQTY (which will be quantity in the new table) and fgID (product in the new table
so i need an insert into statement that does this, ive tried INSERT INTO tblAdjustment (adjType, adjReason, fgID, adjQTY) ("Finished Goods", "Produced", Forms!SubFormBatches.fgID, Forms!SubformBatches.batchPackedQTY)
I'm doing a project for my work. I created a few reports in Access. Some of these reports are simple graphic bars. How can I insert these reports into a word document template?
I am trying to create a form in which users can save new supplier data to a database. I am using two insert statements which insert similar data in to two similar tables. The insert statements appear to have no problems and no errors are produced upon execution yet the new data doesn't save into the tables. Here's the code;
Code: Private Sub Command14_Click() Dim sqlstr As String Dim dbs As Database
Insert into tableA (x,y,z) = (SELECT x,y,z FROM tableB) WHERE NOT EXISTS (select x,y FROM tableA,tableB WHERE tableA.x = tableB.x AND tableA.y = tableB.y)
Basically I want to insert data in tableA from tableB if it does not exist in tableA yet.
I am reading through a table looking for duplicate values in the FullName text field. I want to store in a new table the duplicate records I find, storing just the MemberNumber and the FullName. When the VBA code runs and finds duplicates, the SQL statement to insert a new record into the Duplicates table asks for the value of LastMemberNumber and LastFullName when it already has the values and has displayed them in the message boxes! What am I doing wrong?
The code is:
Private Sub Command0_Click() Dim rs As DAO.Recordset Dim dbs As Database Dim LastMemberNumber As Integer Dim LastFullName As String
I have a form that is calling data from a table. Then the user can determine if they approve the question or not. So what I am trying to do is take one combo box that has yes or no and write it to the database. I thought I had it correct, but appears I do not as it is not writing yes or no to the table. The field initially has no value and that is my query for calling the data for the user to select from. Here is the code that I have so far
<code> 'add approval to yes CurrentDb.Execute "INSERT INTO travelerQA(approval)" & _ " VALUES('" & Me.cmbapproveda & "')" </code>
The next stage I'd like to include is a match and enter pricing details. We get a lot of repeat work that is entered onto our system, due to the nature of the work we do each item is then checked individually. There is a portion of this that could be automated. Our order intake table has an amount of information, various bits of which are supplied by various customers, but not always all of the information is required or given.
Id like a price to be copied from a previous record where the "shots" field matches a previous entry. The other fields that would need to be similar are the "coverage" "drawing no" "pattern no"..But only when these fields are populated, we often, but not always put a - in these fields where the information is not given. I think this may be bad practice, but it shows us the information has not been supplied, and not just missed from the order.
To sum up, when an order is completed i'd like to have an afterupdate event that searches the previous records, where cover, drawing no / pattern no are *matching* and the shots do match, then copy the price of a matching record, where that record is within 12 months of today (using the date_rec field) and then tick an "automated_price" field so i know the price has been generated by the system.
Humm, been going over this and can't figure where I am going wrong. Linked SQL server table. SQL permissions are correct (cause every thing works via QA using pass through security). Form with a CBO to select Item1, once selected list box populates with Items tied to it. Select item from list box click button to break the tie between the two. 3 tables, Item1 Table, Item2 table and cross reference table that ties them together. The Break Tie basically (should) remove the entry from the cross ref. table. Form allows me to insert a new tie (same premis as break only allows you to select items not tied currently) and will insert a row into the cross ref. table. But it will not allow me to delete, or as a backup plan I tried to zero out the FK values. Delete says not allowed (bad permissions, table read only, etc.) and Update says must use an updatable query. NOW the queries I have used are basically DELETE FROM CrossRef Where PK = nnnn OR UPDATE CrossRef SET FK1 = 0, FK2 = 0 WHERE PK = nnnn I mean it does not get any easier than that. So what am I missing on this? Why won't it let me delete/update that stupid table?
I've been testing my scripts so my database has a whole bunch of bogus records in it. I'd like to simply delete everything out of my orders table (there aren't any legit ones in there yet) so that I can start over when I go live and not have all that crap in there.
Is there an easy way to do this without re-creating a blank database and copying/pasting table only over?
