Modules & VBA :: Drag And Drop Feature Added To Databse

I am in the process of trying to create a DragNDrop feature in the Access database that I've built. I have 3 employee with several different txt boxes all side by side and I need to be able to drag and drop the job from one to another.
I need to create a class module to do this but my problem is I don't know how.

How to do drag & drop in a form ?
I would like user click a field on a listbox and place it with the mouse in a field of the form as you can see in windows explorer to move a file from a place to an other.
I tried with mouse events but i don't obtain exactly what i want.
I this possible to do that ?

Hello ppl,
I have a database for selling items.
In my opinion there are actualy 3 solutions to fix this. As i will explain later on.
But first i will try to describe the database first.
there is a reciept part and a "offerte" (<--in dutch) part. I cant remember the word anymore.
Everything is working fine. But i have got just one problem. I have a continuous subform with records in it. When adding records they get added at the end of the record set. Ok fine.... thats still no problem.
But if some item is forgotten. They will need to add it. But it will be added at the end of the list. and for example it needs to be between record 2 and 3.
So this is the problem. Is it posible to have it moved. For example with 2 buttons "Move Up" "Move Down" or drag and drop. I actualy don't care how this will hapen. but the items need to have the posibility to be reordered.
I found a interesting example database. with a listbox with the records in it. and drag and drop possibilities. But i cant figure out how to update this recordset order to the continuous form (it is the same query they pik). Or maybe to send the recordset in the listbox directly to an report would do the job either.
I would appriciate some help here. I am looking for a solution for 2 weeks already. and you ppl are my last hope.

I've been developing several databases. Some elements that were experimental are now going "live". My development environment is Access 2010 on Windows 7 Pro. The "live" environment is also Access 2010 but running on Windows Vista SP2.
In development, I can drag tables, queries, etc. from one database to another by dropping them in the navigation column. When I try that on the "live" environment, it doesn't seem to work.
Is this a knownh difference between Windows 7 and Vista? Is this some sort of "trusted database" issue?
It is lots easier to drag and drop than using the Import External Data process so I'd like it to work.

Hello to all
The problem that I am facing is the following. I am trying to create a form that has the following:
1. A combo box in which you select from a list of users
2. A list box which is populated when I select a user showing me the courses that they have to take
3. Another list box that is populated when I select a course showing me the dates available for that course
4. Finally a third list box which is populated by what I drag or double click on the dates list box basically scheudling the user to his courses.
The first 3 parts of this done what is left to do now is the hard part which is to be able to drag and drop the dates in the other listbox which basically maps that user to that course date and populates the corresponding table. Any suggestions on how to do this would be highly appreciated. Thank you in advance

Is there a way that I can move or copy emails directly from Outlook to a form by using drag & drop?
I know how to do for the files in explorer, but can't figure out how to do from outlook.

the title explains this..
im not even sure if this is possible.. but if it is it will be just what i need.
basically the job1 form has a search feature added to it..
as users type the passenger name in the form.. a listbox below updates if a match is found..
if you can imagine the situation..
my user will be entering jobs into this form.. they will not know whether or not a passenger has used us before.. the only way they will know is if they see in the listbox the same name.. and pickup/destination/phone no. details as the job they are about to enter
i wondered if it was possible for the user to click on the customer in the listbox.. and drag and drop it into the passenger name textbox..
can this be done.. the attatchment is very simple.. one form.. job1.
if someone can explain to me how to do it.. or perhaps alter the db i have attached i will be most grateful

how to have users drag and drop a document into a text box within a form and have it create a hyperlink. What I need to know now, is if there is a way that when a file is dropped into the text box, it only shows the icon associated with that file, or at the very least, edit the hyperlink to only show a certain text. The files I need to see are all in a networked drive, so the hyperlink addresses can be quite long, and ultimately I'd just like the hyperlink to say "letter". Showing the icon would be a plus.

Drag and Drop works great but how do I open a reports based on what I selected?
I have two list boxes the first is "items not selected" and the second is "Items selected" now I want to create a button that open a report showing the result from "Items selected"?? Hi I have an access database called contact.mdb and I have linked to it just fine and used the records held in it to populate a datagrid and can update and delete records.
I don't understand databases that much but I would like to read the values into a drop down menu which are held in the field 'ID' from a table called 'courses'. I have a feeling it is something to do with data sets but am not too hot on these either. Any pointers or code would be gratefully received.

I am working with the Access Treeview feature and I'd like to align the different elements in my nodes exactly below each other.
Therefore I need exact distances (if string is longer then XY, cut short, if shorter, extend to XY).
Of course I cannot work with len() and fill with spaces because letters have different widths.
Is there a way to determine the exact width of a string? e.g. in pixels?

I'm trying to add a search function the searches with ever letter I add to the string in the search box. if the string is not in the recordset then vbred the textbox.

I have an Access 2010-form which inserts a record in a MS SQL 2008-database by using an ADODB-connection. I need to retrieve the primary key of the newly added record.
With code at the bottom I create a SQL-string which is stored in variable strSQL. If I execute the SQL-string directly in a MS SQL 2008 Query Window, the record is inserted and the MS SQL 2008-result pane shows a column "ID" with the primary key of the newly added record.
If I execute same SQL-string in MS Access 2010 the record is inserted. However, the code fails on Debug.Print rs![ID] with error "Item cannot be found in the collection corresponding to the requested name or ordinal". Same error appears if I use Debug.Print rs.Fields(0). I've enable the reference "Microsoft ActiveX Data Objects 2.8 Library". It looks as the recordset rs is closed as soon the command "Set rs = cn.Execute(strSQL)" finished.
Why I can't retrieve the Primary Key with VBA-code below?

I am trying to display on a form the average number of lines/records per hour that a person is adding to the database.
Trying to work with Dfirst and DLast I'd subtract the time of the most recent record from the time of the first record entered and then divide the number of records to display the average per hour in a text box.

I am adding new record into subform via recordsetclone method. The problem is that record is added but on save it does not appear in the table. If add this record manual using subform everything works. When record added manually update of the record works fine.

I have an inventory database i am working on but am too new to access to know all the inner workings. Quick summary of what I need to accomplish:
I have a databse with several tables each representing different types of parts that we sell. Each table is similar in that the primary key for each is the part#, beyond that though the different types of parts have different specs that go with them. (example: for enclosures, the dimensions are needed but the amperage is not, for circuit breakers the opposite would be true.)
Next I have an inventory table, each record has a unique Control number that we assign as the primary key, then just a part #, notes about its condition (some parts are used) , a shelf location, and a price and date.
I have a very small sample database that i can email to anyone interested in looking at it.
Basically what i think i need to come up with is form that has several aspects to it. A user enters a "CATALOG NUMBER" into a combo box at the top of the form. tabbing out of that field then shows the specs of that catalog number below. the problem is the part numbers would come from a number of tables like the BUS PLUGS, MCCB'S, ENCLOSURES tables, all of which have different types of data. Finally, at the bottom of the form would be a result of a search through the INVENTORY table returning the multiple lines of line by line data where the CATALOG NUMBER matches the one specified above to show the records with the same catalog number but different notes, prices and different shelf locations. anyone care to take a look?

Hi, can anyone help? Like an idiot I veered away from my intention to put a password on an Access database which holds only a table and a few queries and explored other security options. I now cannot get in to the database at all and get a message telling me that I do not have the necessary acces srights and to consult my administrator. When I look at the properties, I am shown as the administrator, which makes sense but despite trying various, desperate things, I cannot get back in to take the security off. Needless to say I did not create a copy first, so have learned a lesson the hard way. Any advice gratefully received.

Hello Everyone,
I just finished building my database and i have to install it on a PC. my problem is how to remove access tool bars and menues so that the only thing that appears when you open the databse is the login screen?
I don't want the user of the database to be able to go to design view and change the design of the forms or the reports. I want the user to see and be able to interact with the login form and the switchboard.
I wanna also know how can i install the databse on the PC. do i just copy it and paste it or is there any way else?
I hope you understand what i want.

The problem is that it won't surrently write it into an existing table, I want it to write into a table called Table (stupid choice of name I know....) but instead it creates a new table calle Table1.

Hello everyone! I am completely new to MS ACCESS, so this problem might be fairly simple but yet it is eating my head.So if I get some directions it will be greatly helpful and appreciated.
Description:
The bakery buys ingredients from number of suppliers, makes a several kinds of cakes and sells to few shops. There are about seven ingredients in the first week with the possibility to add new in ingredients later on. There’s a catch though; on any day, only a single type of cake is made, in a single batch and all of them must be delivered before the next day’s cake are finished. It is necessary to be able to rack the ingredients used in a batch back to the suppliers.
I have made tables for suppliers, ingredients, orders and order line (with fields ordereId, ingredientId, quantity, unit price).
Forms that allowing users to allow new ingredients types, suppliers, and new order for ingredient are required which I have made. These forms are to be used to add the data for which ingredients are needed in the second week of baking.
So these are my questions on which I am stuck in
1. Do I need any more Forms or do I need to edit my form?
2. Is it okey to put table as the data source or would it be better to place a query?
3. How do I keep records of my earnings and expenditure, expenditure and keep them updated with my databases?
I hope you will understand that I am completely new to these topics and its really hard for me to grasp them all at once. Merely some guiding points will be of great help. Thank you.

hi...
i have created a database link between oracle and msaccess....i am trying to access the msaccess table from sql(oracle)..
when i do a
select * from msacees_table@database_link
i am getting the desired result
but when i try to acces a specific column with in the msaccess table like
select msaccess_col1 from msacees_table@database_link
its says invalid column name....
any idea why its behaving like this ???
