I have a form and a VBA event in which I would like to update a field in the current record. However, the field name is stored as a variable so I can't just use Me!FieldName = __
I've tried simply the following, but get a "No current record" error. why I'm getting the error, but how do I select the record currently visible in the form to edit?

I am attempting to adjust the font color of a date field on a report based on the value of two other fields. I have the below code set in the "On Format" property of my detail section - however it does not work when I open the report to view.

Is it possible to add/edit a record from a DAO querydef that has a calculated field in.

Using the rs.Edit or rs.AddNew worked fine until I put a calculated field in the query.
The calculated field is just a total of some fields in the table.
I thought this was something to do with dbOpenDynaset but it just keeps having the same error

I'm working on a module which determines which the previous and next task for the part is. To do this the module finds the first record where the previous field says 'none' and puts the following into variables; the ID for the part (WoTasksFID), The routing number (TaskNumber), the job that is being completed at this stage (Shop), and the task order ID (TaskOrderID). I then want it to find the first record which has the same ID for the part and has a TaskNumber that is one smaller (This is where the error in my code occurs). I record the same variables as before (this time with a prefix "Prev") and use the information to fill the previous and next fields for each record set.
Like I said, the error occurs when I am trying to match the WoTasksFID - instead of finding a field with the same WoTasksFID, it seems to choose the first field in the table no matter the value. Here's the function:

I have a database that is used for tracking changes to numerous courses. Part of this database create a unique tracking number for each course problem developed. Currently I have the form do a comparison using the highest most number to compare against the current number assigned and prevent the form from saving until the number is incremented and not a duplicate, it would be a lot easier if I could just have it increment plus 1. I have seen various answers but they all seem to depend on the alpha portion of the field being a set value, in my instance it is variable in length. The only part that is fixed is the last four characters to the right which are the numeric portion I would like to increment. For example the field can equal:
QACP-M-PIQ-6059
QACP-M-PREF-6002
how to extract just the numeric portion, increment it by one and save?
I am creating a 2 level report to confirm an order. Main report already created, runs successfully called as subform/subreport under "OrderDetails" form. Linked to master using Order.ID. There are two versions of the confirmation report that have different layouts for different program types.
The hangup comes when I try to add a "Class Dates" subreport. It lists dates of individual classes and Skip dates. I have created the subreport as "srClassDates". When I add it to the main report, it lists the records. However, when I try to link it to the Main report, an error message box appears with the "object variable or With block variable not set".
I have tried rebuilding both the main and subreports, rebuilt the query, have not found anything that changes the result.
Linker has been working successfully on other subforms. Report with groupings works fine, but I need data from 2 tables both linked to order.id.
I've created a form (callled Contact) that contains a subform (called Sales). The Sales subform is a datasheet that displays sales for each contact and changes when the record in the Contact form changes. All works fine.
My problem is that I want to display some big text fields from the Sales subform in the Contact form so that I can view them more easily. So I've cut and pasted the fields from the Sales form onto the Conact form and tried to change their Control Source. But nothing I do works.
What should happen is that when a record in the Sales subform changes, the fields that have been cut & pasted onto the Contact form should also change. They do change, but I can't edit the text in them. What have I done wrong?
I am trying to edit a specific record in my table. I want to know how to go about referencing it. I'm dealing with a table of books each having its own Book # assigned to it.
Example:
The table has Book#(primary key), title, author, quantity.
How would i go about increasing/decreasing the the quantity by a value(i.e. 1, 2, 3, etc.) in a form that i'm in and then saving it to that specific books quantity?
I'm attempting to keep track of our inventory.
I am building a database application, in which the users desire to use Word to Edit and change the RTF memo field of a particular table. I know how dump access rtf information to Word. Is there a way to pull it all back from the word application? Maybe some way to create a submit/close button that sends the data back?

It will not let me choose a PK/ID. what am i doing wrong or what setting needs to be changed?

1) Take a combo box that looks up a table that has 2 variables (Var1 and Var2).
2) Depending on the value chosen in the combobox (Var1) then a text field will automatically have the value (Var2) appear.
3) This information from combo box and text field will then be stored in a separate table that is linked to the form.

Someone kind of showed me before but they used unbound variables and this confused me as the combobox was unbound but how is that information stored into my table?

I think it is the row source thing that confuses me. I take row source to mean where the data is stored. But where do you identify where to obtain the data to then store in your "inputed" table?
I have a large problem that i need to get figured out ASAP! I have a form text box (named actual cost) that needs to pull a specific record from a table
Now in this table it has multiple rows according to each job. There is a text box (Project number) that has the project that this (actual cost) box should pull from the specific row in the table.

I need to have the comparison variable (< or >) to be read from a field in the form.

Error 91 - Object variable or With block variable not set
I am getting this error telling me that an object variable is not set.
I know which variable it is but when I step through the debugger it sets the variable and all is fine? Issue is that public variable of a class is not getting set when the VBA Editor is not open?

I have a report where I number pages based on the Store (muliple stores in report but page numbering resets when Store changes) I do this by manipulating the page number field on the report by code in the report sections to reset it and to increment it.

The report has a Page Header with various fields and labels and that's been fine however I've had a request to hide a field on subsequent pages (i.e. print it on the 1st page of each store then hide it).
So I added the following code to various sections, but can't get it to work correctly. The fields (label and text box) appear on Page 1 for the first store then get hidden but never return even though when I step through the code it is functioning 'correctly'. The GroupHeader code is performed but the fields don't get displayed on the report. I think is isn't re-painting that section but adding code to the Paint event does nothing, and in fact doesn't actually get run, so not sure when that event is triggered.

I am trying to do some simple table operations. I have a field (Date) containing dates, and an empty field called Day.
I want to extract the day number from the Date field, and write it to the Day field.
I didn't get very far until I ran into trouble when setting my recordset. I get the error "Too few parameters, expected 1". Clicking "Debug", will highlight the code line "Set rs = db.OpenRecordset(sqlString, dbOpenDynaset)".

If I just press enter to go straight to the second field I dont get a msg. If I write something and delete it and press enter i get the msg but when I press ok the cursor goes to the next field. I want it to go to the vat_registration_no field again. And I also want this to happen even if dont write something and then delete it.
Is there a way to remove data from one or multiple fields if the value of a separate field IsNotNull?
