I have a unbounded form which has all the fields same as the table. Now I want to search a row from the table with the Ticket number and First Name. After retrieving all the fields instead of using Update query I just want to add it as a new record.

The two indexed fields are EMPLNO and LASTNAME.
By entering the employee number into the form and/or by entering the lastname onto the form you would get the record for that employee onto the form.
Its probably covered in the archive but I don't know what to look for.
Any suggestions?
Is there a way to write a code or query to find the last value in the last Field (column) of a record in a table?
Or find the last field name that contains data, in a record?
I got this function which is supposed to find a record based on the primary key, and then give three fields a value if they should be empty.

Thats as far as i have got...for the next part.I get the feeling that i need to use the recordset object that exists somewhere.How do i access that recordset object? I have not been using any DAO or ADO, just straight VBA. I know i can create recordsets and stuff using DAO/ADO, but there must be a recordset that has been created already by the Dlookup command...

but I'm getting a runtime error 438.
I have a table called login and inside that table is three columns: username, password and admin.
I have the username saved in a global variable called GsUser. How can i find the record in that table with the same Username as the string stored in GsUser and use that record for an if statement which sees if the value of the admin column is "Yes". Im trying to do it using VBA. Im not using a form where everything is bounded.
Input box Search problem. I have been using the following to find a record in my frmMain using an Input Box:

It works great if I run it from a command button from frmMain. But, if frmMain is open and I run it from a command button on my switchboard, I get the following error message:
Run Time error 7951. You entered an expression that has an invalid reference to the Recordset Clone Property. I tried inserting a command to open frmMain in the first line, even before the two Dim statements, but I get the same result.
I completed the Op[en form and find specific data wizard and it works.
Here is my issue: If there is no data to find, I get a "Stop Macro" error.
How to change this?
I have a database which has a main form and subform built in linked by parent/child customerid, what i would like to do is search all the subform records from the whole DB and return its parent record on the main form?
Can this be done? because if i use find it will only search the filtered form i have onload of the form?

I try to compile and I get an error about the wrong number of arguments or invalid property assignment. However, the event does fire correctly when I open the form or move from one record to another so something's working!
how to use the Like statement when creating a record-set of data through VBA. Before I was always able to find work-arounds but now is the time to slay this issue once-and-for-all.A person can build several sales quotes for a specific company and I am trying to find the last sales quote that was built. The function is passed a variable length string and I am trying to build a recordset of all quotes based on the variable. Here is the offending line of code:

I have tried different variations above and beyond these strings and get one of the three listed errors.
I am creating a log in form, it checks the user name which is unique. if the user has entered a password, it shows only one password text box, they enter the password, if it is correct they enter the database, otherwise they return to the text box.
But if they have not entered a password before the form opens with two text boxes, one for the password and one to confirm the password is typed correct, if the are different a message box shows telling them that they are different, now is where i having problems, when they have typed the two passwords and they are correct i want them to save this password in the same record "Password" as the selected "username" record, I can find the "username" record by doing a Dlookup, easy, but i am stuck how to then save the password from the text box where the selected username record is.
My table "staff" has fields of "IDStaff", "FirstName", "Surname", "Password", "Username".
I have a form and subform where i have table data in the subform and 03 Combo box in the main form header. I need to do some filtering using combox box1 and out of that filtered records i need to do one more filtering using combobox2. then again another filtering by Combobox3. ( same way we are doing in Excel)
Subform is running on a query where i have following fields;
Vessel
Voyage,
POL
POD
MLO
by Combo box 1 i need to filter Voyage
by Combo box 2 i need to filter POL ( out of the data filtered by above )
by combo box 3 i need to filter POD ( out of the data filtered by both above )
I've got a data entry form bound to one table. The form has four buttons:
- Clear Fields
- Cancel
- Save and exit
- Save and add another (which should save the user input to the subform/table, clear the input fields, and allow the user to add another record)
I can't quite seem to get the "Save and add another" button to work. When I put some information in the input fields and click the button, it saves it to the subform/table perfectly, but when I try to do it again, it just edits the last record (the one just created).
How can I get that button to place the information from the input fields in a new record every time?

I've got a module which loads the data into a table, but it can't handle the records that are ~ delimited, so spits them out as a single field.
I know there is some VBA code that can be used to split comma delimited records, and I've seen bits of it floating around online and tried to alter it to work for the ~, but I get the feeling that what I've seen is only a part of the required code, how to put it all together to make something that actually works.
So, what I need to do is;
- Split some records in a table out into multiple fields where there is a ~ present
- Place these newly split fields into a table (I don't mind if it ends up in a new table or not)

I have a form and I want show a message on the form when the it is locked as another user is editing the data in a particular record.
I know the record selectors show the records lock status but it a very tiny symbol which will mean nothing to the users of the database and anyway I don't want record selector bar on the form. How I would do this???

I have 2 form, form1 and form 2 (picture attached)
In Form 1
(main form) there are "reference" field with key pressed event
then call form 2 (list of reference that user can choose)
In form 2
the problem is, when "enter" key pressed (keypress event), selection will move to next record
so the data that transferred to form 1 is wrong (next record)
The question is : how to save current record in form 2 before enter and send the data to form 1

I forgot to mention that my form is based upon a table, i have created other tables and forms based on this one therefore I don't want to change a lot of stuff. I tried the forum but nothing helped.
I have a form with about 10 fields, i added a find button to search for a record, using three fields, when this button is click i want it to display all the info pertaining to the search criteria, (this will be displayed on the same form populating in the form which contains other feilds) or a error saying record not found.

I want to add a text box to the form so that i can find a record by typing the customer's surname. Once this has been searched, i would like the records to be listed in a table in a subform further down the original form. I would then like the user to select the correct record they are looking for from the sub form, and the details to come up in the main form so they can be edited. The reason for the whole sub form part is because there may be more than one customer with the same surname.
please could someone suggest how to achieve this.

I have navigation between forms and when a user navigations from the main form(candidate) to another form(1) and then back there is only 1 record displayed on the candidate form as it is only bringing back the record tied in by the application number.
So if you then want to search for another candidate it doesn't work because the candidate form is filtered.
I've tried using this in my find function but it doesn't work: DoCmd.GoToRecord , , acFirst
Can anyone help?
