Modules & VBA :: Forms Containing Subforms In Footer

Jun 20, 2013

I have a form, frm_Master we'll call it, and on that form, within it's 'form footer' I have a tab control containing a few sub-forms, namely frm_Child.

Now, if I turn on my form footer's visibility, then the form's detail section is not shown; likewise, if the form's footer is not visible, then the detail section is.

Form Footer Like Report Footer

Aug 25, 2006

I have some reports which lay my data out perfectly. For example,Report headerPage headerDetailsPage footerReport footerNow, I'd like to have exactly the same layout on some forms but with various buttons, etc. for manipulating data. The only problem is that when I put something on the form footer, it appears at the bottom of the viewable screen area no matter whether the detail area should overrun or not ?Is this due to form size or something else?Ideally I'd like to have it appear right at the bottom of the form and allow the user to scroll down the form to see the footer.

Modules & VBA :: Hide Subform Footer Controls If No Records Present (AC2007)

Mar 14, 2014

I have a subform which lists a set of records. In the footer section of the subform, I have a number of controls which display calculations based on the records present.

The number of records in the subform will change (reduce). Basically, this is a review / approval function, the idea being that each record will be checked and approved, which will then remove it from the list.

So eventually, all of the records in the subform should disappear (the subform is requeried each time the user approves a record)

I want to be able to hide the controls in the footer section once the subform has been cleared of all records.

But not sure

a) how to determine when the subform's recordset reaches zero and

b) what event to use to fire the code to hide the footer controls.

This is my basic attempt :

Code:
Private Sub Form_Current()Dim ctl As Control
For Each ctl In Me.FormFooter.Controls
ctl.Visible = Not (Me.Recordset.EOF)
Next ctl
End Sub

But it doesn't work (it only seems to fire when the subform is loaded, not when it is requeried after each approval?)

I've tried Form_Query, Form_DataChange and Form_DataSetChange but no joy with those either.

Forms :: Calculate Sum In Subform Footer

Jan 24, 2015

I have a problem with calculating sum of fields in the footer of subform

The subform consists of following 5 fields
Opis kolicina txtCena rabat CenaSpop

Opis is combobox (cbododatki), which takes values from another table (tbldodatki)
SELECT DISTINCT [IDdodatki], [Opis], [Cena] FROM tbldodatki ORDER BY [Opis];
Kolicina is enetered manually
Rabat is entered manually
Cena is calculated with =cbododatki.column(2)
Cenaspop is a calculation of [kolicina]*[txtCena]*(1-[rabat])

In such case i cant get Access to calculate the Sum in the footer of the subform

On the other hand, if i add an additional column to the source table (tblPodrobNaroc) of this subform (frmPodrobNaroc) where i enter Cena manually (instead of only being part of cbododatki), then all calculations are fine.

Which option do you reccomend, should i:

a) add to the source table of subform (tblPodrobNaroc) another column with values of Cena from tbldodatki (how is that done?), which would be filled in through cbododatki, and then perform needed calculations
b) call Cena in subform in such way that the Access recognizes it (not as cbododatki.column type) and performs the calculation.

I try to sum the amount field in the formfooter with =Sum([service].[Column](2)*[quantity]) but I receive an error.

Somehow it does not get the value for [service].[Column](2)

How can I do this?

Forms :: Getting Sum Of Calculated Field In Subform Footer

Nov 9, 2014

I've got a subform (simple table view) inside a main form, the subform (sfrmRecipes) just has an IngID field (which stores ingredient ID's) and a percentage field

I've added a few calculated fields to this subform, to assist users in making decisions, however each of these fields needs a sum total

So far my percentage field (which is an actual stored field in tblRecipes) is the only one with a functioning sum
for some reason the two calculated fields (which are both plain numbers, no text) do not give me a sum total option, i am only able to use the count function on them

Why calculated fields dont sum up and if there is an easy way to get it working (tried creating my own text field in the footer and manually typing SUM(fieldname), but it does not work).

Forms :: How To Find What Data Is Actually Being Passed Between Forms And Subforms

Nov 22, 2013

I have several Suppliers, each of whom holds several SalesEvents. At each SalesEvent I might buy none, one or more Bundles. Each Bundle then contains one or more Items. These relationships are all reflected in my Access 2013 desktop db as one-many relationships with cascaded updates.

My form structure for data entry reflects the Relationships, in that I have a Supplier form with a SalesEvents subform. On that subform I can enter data about each of that Supplier's SalesEvents, and each SalesEvent row has a button to call up a SalesEvent form which has a Bundles subform. Then each row of that subform has a button which calls up a Bundle form containing an Items subform. That Bundle form identifies the Supplier, Sales Event and Bundle number, and within its Items subform I can then enter the data for each Item.

Problem : All used to work fine, but I've clearly changed something because now when I select the Items button on the Items subform in the Bundle form, the system gives me the data for the first record in the SalesEvents table, rather than the one selected. I have checked the raw data and that's as it should be. I have tried to undo all the steps I took since it last worked properly, but to no avail. Restoring the last backup (taken when I'm sure it worked properly) still has the problem.how do I find what data is actually being passed between forms and subforms ?

Forms And Subforms

Jul 2, 2007

I am attempting to create a database for my users to input new data via a main form. I have this main form where I use subforms as look up tables/queries to pull my stored data from. My problem is that I want to try and not have the subform on the main form; I want it to be its own window. Bear in mind I am new to using Microsoft access, and trying to learn as I go.

I have created all the forms with queries. I use the open form command to get me to my subform, which is a common findings form. From there I am able to search and filter, and once I find my desired record I want to be able to link certain fields back to the main form. (basically if possible use a command button to select this information and insert it on the main form). Typically, my users will have a generic finding to to record so I have inputted these findings so that they can select them and not have to type them themselves. Is this even possible for me to do this way, with a command button by writing a VBA code and linking criteria? The reason I am creating a separate form is so that the main form is not cluttered and is user friendly.

The fields I want to link are the same, however they are not from the same queries, and essentially the main form has its own since as of right now there is not data because it’s run of user input. The findings form has data. There are relationships established.

Thanks for any help, I feel like this might be confusing since I am unsure of exactly what I am trying to do, but any help would be greatly appreciated.

Reports :: Footer To Bottom Of Page Or Page Footer To Last Page Only

Oct 23, 2014

I am trying to create an invoice report. I want to add all the costs from the detail section in my footer. I have accomplished this in either the Report footer and/or the page footer, but the problem is that the report footer doesn't go to the bottom of the page, and the page footer doesn't go to just the last page. I have tested a bunch of suggestions that don't seem to work.

1. Print page footer with Report header = NO - only works if your report is two pages or more.

2. Private Sub PageFooterSection_Format(Cancel As Integer, FormatCount As Integer)
If Page = Pages Then
Me.[TextBoxName].Visible = True
Else
Me.[TextBoxName].Visible = False
End If
End Sub

The Page functions worked, but it did not change the results from page to page. If it was a two page report, then the if statement is false and the text box was not visible on page 1, but it also was not visible on page 2.

Modules & VBA :: Scheduling System That Automates Some Redundant Tasks - Expanding Subforms?

Jul 28, 2014

I'm working on a scheduling system for my fathers company that automates some redundant tasks. Most importantly the system manages the order of processes on different parts (ie, part "tubes" may be cut, then drilled, then welded, then shipped).

I'm trying to create a form that allows for the editing and viewing of all the parts and the processes for each part for a specific work Order. Ideally the information that applies to all the parts (Work order Number, due date etc) would appear at the top of the form with all of the processes to appear beneath (Separated into groups - all the parts to be welded shown together). My problem with using sub forms for this was that I need all the records to be shown without scrolling. Is there a way to dynamically change the size of each Subform to match the required size, or is there a better feature to use?

Complex Forms As Subforms

Mar 3, 2005

I have a complex form (in that it contains a lot of VB code and events) to display the information of various articles in my database. I would like to add some browsing options to the form (like a list of all articles on the left, and some different back/forward options), but I also need to preserve the form in its current state.
Rather than make a new copy of the form (and have to maintain TWO near-identical copies of the same form), I attempted to make a new form, with just the browsing list, and insert the old article information form as a subform on the left. However, it seems that any of the code from the original form which refers to Forms!Article Information!Article_ID ("Article Information" is the name of the original form) are not able to load the correct information, as I am prompted to supply it myself. Needless to say, I don't want the user to be prompted for the article number each time they open the form :).

I'm wondering how I would go about opening the old form as a subform in such a way that I am not prompted each time. Or alternativley, if there's a better way to do what I'm trying to do, how should I do it?

Tabbing In Forms/subforms

Feb 21, 2006

I have search the forum and have found many solutions to this same problem but so far none have worked for me. I am fairly new to Access so maybe I am just not understanding properly.

I have a form with a main form and many subforms. All subforms but one are continuous and the other is a single form that does not allow additions.

1. I can tab from the main form to the first subform but can’t get the next subform.
I have tried this on the exit of the first combo box in the subform

Private Sub EventInitialActionTaken_Exit(Cancel As Integer)
If IsNull(Me.EventInitialActionTaken) Then
Me.Parent.[frmeventFsubform].SetFocus
End If
End Sub

This works until I open a new record from one of the subforms and then I get an error.

2.Then, my last subform is the single form with no additions and I want it to tab to a command button on the main form. Right now it just goes in circles throughout the sub form

3.Also, if I ask to start a new record while my cursor is in one of the subforms, the new record will open with my cursor in that subform field. How do I get it to default to the first field in the main form? I tried Me.EventID.Setfocus on the On Load Event of the main form but this didn’t work.

I think that if I get the answer to question 3 then the code I previously used in question 1 might work.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you in advance.
