Modules & VBA :: Hide Subform Footer Controls If No Records Present (AC2007)

Mar 14, 2014

I have a subform which lists a set of records. In the footer section of the subform, I have a number of controls which display calculations based on the records present.

The number of records in the subform will change (reduce). Basically, this is a review / approval function, the idea being that each record will be checked and approved, which will then remove it from the list.

So eventually, all of the records in the subform should disappear (the subform is requeried each time the user approves a record)

I want to be able to hide the controls in the footer section once the subform has been cleared of all records.

But not sure

a) how to determine when the subform's recordset reaches zero and

b) what event to use to fire the code to hide the footer controls.

This is my basic attempt :

Code:
Private Sub Form_Current()Dim ctl As Control
For Each ctl In Me.FormFooter.Controls
ctl.Visible = Not (Me.Recordset.EOF)
Next ctl
End Sub

But it doesn't work (it only seems to fire when the subform is loaded, not when it is requeried after each approval?)

I've tried Form_Query, Form_DataChange and Form_DataSetChange but no joy with those either.

Modules & VBA :: Delete Records From A Table Using Controls On A Subform

Jun 20, 2013

I have a sub form that allows users to add staff to a project team, once added it populates a table which updates the subform showing the selected employee. I am trying to enable a delete function that allows users to remove an employee from the project team in the subform showing selected staff. Here is the code I have so far, but it doesn't work;

Code:
Private Sub Command4_Click()
Dim dbs As Database
Dim rs As Recordset
Dim sqlstr As String
Set dbs = CurrentDb
sqlstr = "DELETE tbl_CapexStaff.* FROM tbl_CapexStaff WHERE CAP_ID = Forms!frm_Switchboard.CAP_Live"
dbs.Execute (sqlstr)
End Sub

Find Records That Are Present In One Table, But Are Not Present In Other Tables.

May 31, 2007

Hi all :)

Ok, let's say I have 3 tables with the following data

T1 T2 T3
1 , 1 , 1
2 , 2 , 3
3 , 4 , 4
, , 5

I'd like to be able to create a query that has the only record as its result as 5 as it is the only data item the does not exist in Tables 1 and 2. I don't just want to search for 5, I can do that :) I would like to be able to write a query which finds all the records that are present in one table, but are not present in x number (in this case 2) of other tables.

I don't seem to be able to find any simple way of doin this and there doesn't seem to be a definitive answer on any forums. Anyone got any ideas?? :)

Cheers,

Matt :)

Tab Controls On Subform For Sequential Records

May 19, 2006

I have a form with 3 tabs...each tab has the same subform embedded in it.

There are 3 sequential records in the database, and my desire is to have each record display on its' proper tab.

How can I set filter criteria for each subform to append the record sequence identifier to the link master/child fields to ensure that only the appropriate record displays on each tab?

Basically, I trying to use tab controls with embedded subforms to display the many side of a one to many relationship. The parent form contains the data for the parentrecord, and I want the subform, with a tab for each related record, to show the child side of the data relationship. One child record per tab, utilizing the same identical sub-form for each.

Reports :: Control Visibility Of Individual Controls In Group Footer

Jan 17, 2014

I have a music database in which I keep track of my CDs and how many times I've listened to them. I have a report that uses grouping to show me the total listens for each artist for each year - the totals are in a group footer, with nothing in the detail section of the report. It looks something like this:

-------94-95-96-97-98-99-00-01-02-03-04-05-06-07-08-09-10-11-12-13-14
BAND1--00-00-00-01-13-04-03-00-01-00-01-03-10-16-04-04-01-00-01-03-00
BAND2--00-00-00-00-00-00-00-33-31-14-15-07-02-00-02-01-11-05-01-00-01

(The dashes are blank spaces.)

The first line is the column header showing years (last 2 digits for space reasons).

The second and subsequent lines are created in the group footer section, first is the artist name, then the Sum of listens for all titles by that artist in the year given ([Sum of Listens1994]).

This report works perfectly.

Here's what I want to do, and I can't get it to work:

In the above lines of data, let's say that the earliest title for BAND1 is from 1975, and the earliest title for BAND2 is from 2001. My yearly counts start in 1994. Therefore, there were listens for BAND1 prior to 1994, but there weren't any listens for BAND2 prior to 2001.

GOAL: Instead of showing "00" on the BAND2 line for years 1994-2000, I want them blank.

I've put a conditional format code in OnFormat for the group footer section, telling Access to turn visibility off for the text box control ([Sum of Listens1994] etc) if the [Earliest] field (which contains 2001) is greater than the year being displayed (1994 first, and so on). This, which seems like it should work, makes no difference. Oddly, if I put a F9 code break on the If statement, it never breaks, which makes me believe the code is never even being executed.

I do have prior experience with controlling field visibility in forms and reports, so the concepts aren't new to me. I feel like the big difference with this one is that it's in the group footer section rather than the detail section. [Access 2013]

Modules & VBA :: Hide Subform When Main Form Opens

Jan 9, 2015

I need to hide my subform on load or open of the main form but am experiencing some weird results. I have tried putting Me.SubForm.Form.Visible = False in both the on open and the on load of the main form and it works only if the tables on which the subform have records in them. If the tables for the subforms are empty I get an error 2467 telling me that "The expression you entered refers to an object that is closed or doesn't exist." I find this strange because from all I can find the subform loads first.

How can I hide the subform when the main form opens no matter what records exist or don't?

Un-hide Access Controls

Hi all, I have been given a database from a small business who just want some menial report editing. Their problem is the supplier of this simple access database has disappeared and in over a year of reporting the problem has not resolved it.

The database is locked interface-wise, i.er. if you load you cannot access tables, queries, reports etc. I was wanting to know how you do this. If the database is passworded I have a revealer, but actually getting to the edit area seems to be the problem at the moment.

Thanks for any help you can give

Modules & VBA :: Cycle Through Several Records And Hide Field If It Is Blank

Feb 10, 2014

I have code that I want to cycle through several fields and check instead of coding for each individual field. I thought this might worked on an earlier project but Im lost. When I try to add my code in the "If MyControls Then", I want it to hide the field on a report if it is blank. It doesnt allow me to do MyControls.Visible.

Code:
If Len(Reports!RecallReport!QAW1 & vbnullsting) = 0 Then
Reports!RecallReport!QAW1.Visible = False
End If

but I want the below code to go through each field With QAW in it and hide it if it is blank.Or having it go through each field individual. There are 10 Fields With QAW THen there are another 10 fiels with ShipDist. I would prefer a simple solution to check all at once.

Code:
Dim MyControls As Control
For Each MyControls In Me.Controls ' Iterate through each element.
If InStr(1, MyControls.Name, "QAW") Then
If MyControls Then
End If
End If
Next

I don't even know if I am on the right track or what.

Forms :: Hide And Show Controls Based On Value In Combobox

I am using Access 2010. I wish to show or hide controls based on the value in the combobox. The combobox is bound with the data type Yes/No. If Yes, controls should be visible and if no, they are to be invisible. The database is a linked one. This selection should update all the users' forms.

Forms :: Hide Controls When A Form Is Opened Conditionally

Oct 7, 2014

I've searched and can only find information setting the visible property when selections are made on an open form--I want to set the visible property when the form is opened depending on which avenue the user chooses from the navigation form.

I have a navigation form (Form A) and a second form with a subform (Form B). The user will choose from a combobox, either an existing record or a new record on Form A. On Form A there are two buttons, one that will take the user to the correct record on Form B for editing and one that will open to a new record on Form B. Once Form B is open, all controls will be blank (if a new record is chosen) or with certain controls prepopulated if an existing record is chosen.

What I want to do is to hide controls on the main form (not the subform) of Form B if the user chooses an existing record. Form A's buttons work correctly to open Form B right now. I want to be able to hide prepopulated controls on Form B if the user chooses an existing record from Form A.

Here's the code I'm using to open Form B to an existing record. I'd like to set the visible property here if at all possible.

NOTE: "Form A" and "Form B" are not the actual names of my forms--it's just easier for illustration purposes here in my question.

Private Sub cmdAddLogEntry_Click()
DoCmd.OpenForm "Form B", acNormal, , "Activity_ID = " & Me.cboINum
DoCmd.Close acForm, "Form A", acSaveYes

End Sub

Forms :: Hide Form Controls And Resulting White Space

Sep 20, 2013

I have a checkbox that determines whether or not to display certain form controls. How can I also hide the resulting white space that comes from hiding the form controls?

Can I put all of the controls in some sort of container and hide the container? The form objects are all displayed in order, so it shouldn't cause issue.

Can I create a subform for the objects and hide it? This would make the main and subforms based off of the same table.

Occam's Razor would be the preferred philosophy in this case. Nothing too fancy is needed.

Display Message In Detail Form When No Records Present

May 2, 2005

The record source of a form that I have is based on a user selection in a combo box in the header of the form. When the form opens there may or may not be any records to display. Currently I put up a message box when there are no records displayed but this only happens when the form is newly opened.

I was wondering if it is possible to have a label displayed in the detail section instead whenever there are no records to display, such as something along the lines of "There are no records to display with the selected option, please choose an alternative.".

I realise that I may be asking the impossible but I'm a member of the "If you don't ask you'll never know" club.

Forms :: Calculate Sum In Subform Footer

Jan 24, 2015

I have a problem with calculating sum of fields in the footer of subform

The subform consists of following 5 fields
Opis kolicina txtCena rabat CenaSpop

Opis is combobox (cbododatki), which takes values from another table (tbldodatki)
SELECT DISTINCT [IDdodatki], [Opis], [Cena] FROM tbldodatki ORDER BY [Opis];
Kolicina is enetered manually
Rabat is entered manually
Cena is calculated with =cbododatki.column(2)
Cenaspop is a calculation of [kolicina]*[txtCena]*(1-[rabat])

In such case i cant get Access to calculate the Sum in the footer of the subform

On the other hand, if i add an additional column to the source table (tblPodrobNaroc) of this subform (frmPodrobNaroc) where i enter Cena manually (instead of only being part of cbododatki), then all calculations are fine.

Which option do you reccomend, should i:

a) add to the source table of subform (tblPodrobNaroc) another column with values of Cena from tbldodatki (how is that done?), which would be filled in through cbododatki, and then perform needed calculations
b) call Cena in subform in such way that the Access recognizes it (not as cbododatki.column type) and performs the calculation.

Forms :: Getting Sum Of Calculated Field In Subform Footer

Nov 9, 2014

I've got a subform (simple table view) inside a main form, the subform (sfrmRecipes) just has an IngID field (which stores ingredient ID's) and a percentage field

I've added a few calculated fields to this subform, to assist users in making decisions, however each of these fields needs a sum total

So far my percentage field (which is an actual stored field in tblRecipes) is the only one with a functioning sum
for some reason the two calculated fields (which are both plain numbers, no text) do not give me a sum total option, i am only able to use the count function on them

Why calculated fields dont sum up and if there is an easy way to get it working (tried creating my own text field in the footer and manually typing SUM(fieldname), but it does not work).

Modules & VBA :: Check If Column D Value Is Present In Access Table Ref Field

Oct 14, 2014

I am designing a project in which there is a form and on that form there is a textbox and Browse button. With browse button you can select a file from the dialog box and that file path will appear in the textbox. This part has been done as below:

Code:
Private Sub CommandButton1_Click()
ChooseFile
End Sub
Sub ChooseFile()

Dim fd As FileDialog
Set fd = Application.FileDialog(msoFileDialogFilePicker)

[Code] ....

Now the next Part i.e Part2 in which we have to see the references present in Column D of the "Summary" worksheet of the workbook whose path is present in textbox1 and check if they match with any of the references in field "Ref" of the Access table named tblLiterature.

If value in column D matches with Ref field of the Access table then change the status field of the Access table to the corresponding columns A,B,C named as "Withdrawn","Obsolete","Updated". that means if the column A of the corresponding Reference is Y then change the status field to "Withdrawn". If column B is Y then change the status to "Obsolete" and if column C is Y then change the status to "Updated".

Please see attached the workbook as this kind of workbook will be searched against Access table .

I tried changing the background color of the detail section and the footer section to figure out where my problem is but the space just stays white.
