Modules & VBA :: How Many Full Records Have Been Selected
Sep 25, 2013
In a form's VBA code, I'd like to know whether a full record has been selected, like when the user selects one or more rows before deleting with the Del key.
Is this possible?
According to [URL]......, Me.SelHeight returns the number of rows that have been selected within the selection rectangle. If I select a rectangle of cells in Datasheet view, for example, Me.SelHeight will be > 0 even though full records have not been selected. I want to know how many full records have been selected. Is this possible?

Custom filter I'm trying to set up. I have a data full of records with multiple columns and a form linked up to it. The form has a search box that works as well as navigation buttons.
Currently I am trying to get a filter to work. The filter will use up to five combo foxes to narrow down the fields, then return the filtered records after clicking a button. The button itself is where my code is. My issue now though is I cannot get the filter to work if I try to use more than one combo box.
The code I have at the moment is as follows:
'------------------------------------------------------------
' cmdApplyFilter_Click
'
'------------------------------------------------------------
Private Sub cmdApplyFilter_Click()
Me.Filter = "[Asset Group] = " & Me.cmbFilter1 & "" And "[Location] = " & Me.cmbFilter4 & ""
Me.FilterOn = True
End SubThe current error I am getting is Error 13: Type mismatch. I also know that the And might be the cause but I cannot change it to AND: it keeps changing back.

I have button on my form that uses a selected record in a listbox (non multi-select) to run code that updates a table. The code itself works great so long as there is a record selected in the listbox. If no record is selected an error is thrown. I'd prefer the end user not to ever see that error. If the end user clicks the button and no records are selected, I'd like for nothing to happen at all. I've tried several variations of checking the listbox with an if / then statement to see if records are selected and if so to exit sub, but they all throw errors when no record is selected in the listbox.
Code:
If IsNull(Me!lstHeatTreatments) Then
Exit Sub
End If
[Code].....

I have a SQL view linked into a ms access application. That view is used in a subform and in datasheet view. I want to select multiple records and click on a button that will delete those selected rows. I need the button because the view has 1 table and a subquery joined in the view and will not allow me to delete from the main table in that view. So, I figured I can select the rows I want to delete and then create a button that will send a passthru command to delete those records from the main table.

I'm using the following code to clear selected records from a listbox after a button is pressed:
Code:
For i = 0 To lstProducts.ListCount - 1
lstProducts.Selected(i) = False
Next
The code works great except that it leaves the listbox scrolled all the way to the bottom. What is the best way to scroll back up to the top of the listbox without selecting another record?

I am building a tracking database where we would be able to track information which field are null data and report them to our Administration to fill the null data. For this I have created a form name "Search" and I have a combo box control on that form which is bound to "Table = employee" and its ROW SOURCE TYPE="Field List", I would like to able to query records where the selected value in this combo box is null through out the table.
For example if I select "Telephone" from this combo box dropdown, I would like the query to show all the records where the "Telephone" is null, how to set the criteria in query to take the combo box value as "Field Name" and then compare it with the Field/Column in the table and show the null values.

I have a table of sales information. Part of my products are kits that are a combination of individual products. (Think of it as a value meal at a fast food restaurant. You can order a hamburger, a soda, and a small french fry separately. But if you get the Value Meal #1 you get all three at a discounted price.)
What I would like to do is make a new table/query that extracts out the kits out of the original sales table and replaces the kit record with records that show the components.
I have attached a file to show as an example of how the records current look and how I would like it to look.

Im trying to programmatically (without any user intervention) retrieve the long path name for a given file. It seems to me this should be a rather easy thing to achieve using Access VBA. Ive tried using various FileSystemObject methods with no luck. Ive Googled many variants of VBA get full path without any meaningful hits. provide the first string as a parameter to some object and have it magically return the second string.
String 1: C:PROGRA~2COMMON~1MICROS~1VBAVBA7VBE7.DLL
Stint 2: C:Program Files (x86)Common Filesmicrosoft sharedVBAVBA7

I have a Combo box which contains a set of numbers divided by "."
e.g.: 1.342567.24433
When looking for a certain code, I would like to use the number pad to enter the first few e.g. 1.34 to move to the Position. In Previous Versions of Access I had a function on the key
If KeyAscii = 44 Then
DoCmd.CancelEvent 'stop the comma keypress being updated
SendKeys ".", True 'put a full stop in the field
End If
This worked fine, but in Access 7 and up, it turns off the number lock.
Is there an alternative to sendkeys to achieve the above or a way of directly turning the number lock on again?

I tried this code to change the label to display the full name of the state on the form. Is there a shorter way than putting 49 more states after the if?
[CODE]Private Sub cmdStates_Click()
DoCmd.OpenForm "frmChurchesAll"
DoCmd.ApplyFilter "qryFindState"
lblTxtSt = txtState
If txtState = "FL" Then
lblTxtSt = "Florida"
End If
lblTxtSt.BackColor = 15658720
lblTxtSt.Visible = True
lblStatesof.Visible = True
lbAllChurches.Visible = False
End Sub /CODE]

I am having trouble getting a combo box to go to a selected record on a form. It basically ignores the selection. I have successfully used the combo box to do searches on other forms. The only difference I'm noticing is that form I'm using has multiple records for the search criteria.
Any ideas?

A form I created contains buttons for the user to restrict the display- showing records that are tasked to one specific employee.
So their choices are Employee a, employee b or all employees.
This is a process I use a lot :)
This last form opens with NO records displayed. When a button is clicked the records show correctly.
Any idea what to check?
Thanks,

Hi i have a shared database and have a form with a string of records. Each record has its own unbound checkbox and I want to make it so you can select multiple records, then be able to hit a button on the top of the form to edit certain fields of the records selected. Please keep in mind that this is shared by 10 users, therefore a linked yes/no field would cause problems between the users.

My Membership Database includes 3 fields in the main Table which I need to clear prior to the new subscription year, but on a selective basis.The fields are R/N for (Renewal or New), a subscription date and an amount field (Currency).
At the due date I need to clear all 3 fields except where N/R=N AND date >01/01/2014, when data in all 3 fields is to be retained.I have tried several SQL codings to achieve this but have been unsuccessful so far.

I'm attaching a small sample DB, so you can see what I have so far.
The Export function, or the update record functions.

I'm having another one of those days but I'm getting a file path and file name from a dialogbox and forgotten when the VBA property is to return the full file path and file name.
This code works fine for return the filename only:
Code:
Private Sub TEST()
Dim f As Object
Set f = Application.FileDialog(3)
f.AllowMultiSelect = True
If f.Show Then
For I = 1 To f.SelectedItems.Count
MsgBox Filename(f.SelectedItems(I))
Next
End If
End Sub
Instead of using 'Filename' what else can I use to return what I need?

Hey all,
I have a problem with my update query (SQL),
The situation where it is used:
The SQL code is as a command on a button on a form. It is used to take the value in the text box(Name: Restock) and update it to the Quantity field in the table. (tblStock)
The problem is that the Update, updates all the records changing all the values in the Column (Quantity) to the value that is in the text box.
I need it to update the record which is displayed in the form not all the records.
Here is the SQL at the minute.
DoCmd.RunSQL ("UPDATE tblStock SET Quantity = (Restock) WHERE ItemID = [ItemID]")
Any help would be great. Thanks in advance

I have a form which contains a listbox. It is a multi-select listbox. And I have a button on the form which runs a report. But I want the report to only show the selected records from the listbox. The report gets its records from an underlying query. But how do I make the selected records on the listbox become the query criteria?

I'm developing a database where people basically can fill in an order form and then the database can track if the order has been placed, when it came in etc.I have a form called frm_Suppliers to be Ordered that runs off a query. The tables that relate to the query are called tbl_Products, with a primary key called ID and tbl_Suppliers, with a primary key called Supplier ID.
The form called frm_Suppliers to be Ordered, shows a list of suppliers that have open orders. Each supplier may have several orders open. I want to be able to click a button after each supplier name and bring up a continuous form that relates to all the records from that supplier that have open orders.
I have tried using the code found in the thread called "open a form based on the record that is selected in current form" from 06-08-2011, however it will only work when my form lists each open order separately, not when they are grouped by supplier.
