Modules & VBA :: How To Make Pie Graph Using Table In Access
Oct 8, 2014
i have a table with 7 columns. Assume THE columns are a,b,c,d,e,f,g. In this table there is only one row and each column is given a number value. For example, a is 1, b is 5 and so forth. Can i make a pie graph in access with these 7 labels, and show there totals in the graphs?

I have a split form with graphs in the upper design section and the table of the data that the graphs represent in the data view underneath. I would like to make the graphs dynamic with the data from the forms if the data is filtered in design view.
I know how to get the filter from the data view by using the .filter and I would like to use that as part of an SQL statement in my Rowsource for the graphs to dynamically change the graphs when a filter is used. My problem is the data is returned with .filter function returns with quotation marks (example below), and because I'm wanting to use that data in a string to change my rowsource the quotes need to be replaced with an apostrophe. How can I change the quotes to an apostrophe, or is there a better way to "filter" a graph?
Example:
Returned from .filter
([FrmTable].[CurrentABCS]="A")
What I need:
([FrmTable].[CurrentABCS]='A')

In the tutorial whose link I have shown below: URL....The graphs that I create from the tutorial always have the legend on the right side. I would rather have the legend running along the bottom of the graph. I have two questions :
1. The graphs that I have already created, how can I get the legend to move down to the bottom of the graph? What command can I use?
2. When creating new graphs how do I make the legend go on the bottom of the graph and not the right side.

I'm trying to copy the structure of a table to make a temp table. I'm using CopyObject (which also copies the data). So when I delete the data from the temp table, it also deletes data from the source table. Is the data linked? It should just be deleted from the temp table. Below is the beginning of the code. I've stepped through, and at the last step shown, the data in the source table deletes.
Code:
Dim strFile As String
Dim temp As String
Dim tbl As String
Dim db As DAO.Database
' error handle
On Error GoTo F_Error
[Code] .....

From Excel, I open a database and start a macro with the following:
Set oApp = CreateObject("Access.Application")
oApp.Visible = False
oApp.OpenCurrentDatabase db, True
oApp.DoCmd.RunMacro "Import_Data"
With the macro running and Access not visible, how can I make the database visible if an error occurs in the macro? Currently, if an error occurs in the macro, a 'Msgbox' message is generated (by the database macro). But with Access not visible and Excel visible, the process cannot continue unless the user knows to click on the 'Microsoft Access' icon in the task bar to bring Access to foreground and acknowledge the 'Msgbox' message.
I'd like to activate the Access window from within the database macro.

First I create a select query and can view the linked db2 data, but when I change to a make table query I get an error message, "invalid argument", when I run the make table query. There is no selection critera specified. Has anyone had this happen? and Do you know a solution?
Thanks for your support

I have a table with 3 fields. The fields are down1, down2 and down3. . I would like to use this table to create a new table (downtime). What I need too do is loop through each record in the table and place the three fields independently in my new table. For example, I would like to go to the first record in my original table, than place down1 as my first record in my new table, down2 as my second record and down3 as my third. Than I will go to the second record in my original table and place down1 as my fourth record, down2 as my fifth record, down3 and my sixth record and so on. I want to make a toggle button that will do this.

I am using a function to calculate the quartiles from an existing query and enter the corresponding EqNum and EDescription into a table.When I run the code below it asks me for a value for SysAssetCritRankQ from the rstPercentileRST parameters. I have tried adding "" and [] but they aren't working.(The issue with self taught SQL/VBA)
SysAssetCritQ = Query Name
Total = Calculated field in query
Code:
strSQL = "SELECT SysAssetCritRankQ.EqNum, SysAssetCritRankQ.EDescription INTO [EOQComboT]FROM SysAssetCritRankQ " & _
"WHERE Total >= PercentileRst([SysAssetCritRankQ], Total, 0.75); "

Access 2010 vba - I'm trying to pass a start date and end date to a date field in a make table query, and use the 'between' operator on that date field.
So I have a criteria on the date field like this "Between [dtStart] and [dtEnd]" and if I run the query manually it asks for 2 values and then works fine.
Here's the code I'm trying to run:-
Set qdef = db.QueryDefs("qryTest")
qdef.Parameters("dtStart") = StartDate1
qdef.Parameters("dtEnd") = EndDate1
Set rs1 = qdef.OpenRecordset(dbOpenDynaset, dbSeeChanges)
and I get the error "3219 Invalid Operation" on the last line.

I have been able to successfully set up code to be able to add appointments to microsoft outlook based on data within a few forms that I have. My question is this however, how do I get access to make that appointment to a specific calendar on outlook. This calendar is a shared calendar. Currently, access is just adding the appointments to "My Calendar" and I could like it to place the appointment on "HVCalendar". a version of the code I found online is listed below:
Private Sub btnaddappttooutlook_Click()
'On Error GoTo ErrHandle
Dim olNS As Object
Dim olApptFldr As Object
' Save the Current Record
If Me.Dirty Then Me.Dirty = False

I have some graphs on a report that I need to dynamically position. The user selects which graphs he wants to put in and then the reports repositions the graphs based on input.
I've been using the following code to move the graph:
reports!rpoly.gGPCMWbyDRI.top = 3.625
which compiles, but moves the chart to the "0" position. I tried using a string ("3.625"""), or a stint ("3.625") but neither worked.

I am using VBA to execute a 'Make Table' (named 'DT'). One of the fields in DT (named 'Dollars') contains numbers that have 6 to 8 digits; some are positive and some are negative.
These large numbers with no commas (or parentheses when they're negative) are incredibly hard to read.
Any VBA coding that will change both the "Format" and the "Decimal Place" Field Properties on the table I make (i.e. "DT"). I want to the Format property to read (#,##0.00;(#,##0.00)) and the Decimal Place property to read "2"). This will allow me to display a number like -10326786.41 as (10,326,786.41) which is incredibly more readable.
Is it possible to do this programmatically; I've search the internet high and low and could find anything remotely useful.

I often run lengthy make table queries form multiple linked tables in a database with my PC unattended (often overnight). I would prefer not to have the following conformation screen “You are about to paste xxxx row(s) into a new table” but rather have Access just paste the rows.. This would prevent the database from become inactive prior to me clicking “Yes” and spoiling my query.
Is it possible to have Access bypass conformation and how would this be accomplished?
Thanks..

I am trying to update the range for the graph automatically and I'm calling this from Access because my data exists in Access. I've attached a sample file.what I am trying to do:
1) click on the button
2) button will update the usedrange in "trending" tab
3) have the graph's data range based on the usedrange.
Code:
Dim xlApp As Object
Set xlApp = CreateObject("Excel.Application")
xlApp.Visible = True
xlApp.Workbooks.Open "C:Documents and SettingsgjiaDesktopmetric_DEV.xlsx", True, False
[code]...
note: the columns will grow bigger to the right, which is dynamic, so I've used usedrange method, but the code fails on the usedrange line saying the object or method is not being supported...

Whenever I double-click a graph in a form that is being viewed it opens up MS Graph in edit form. This is confusing/ugly/etc and I don't want it to do that.
I tried adding some code to the double click event to make it do some other action (bringing up some graph modification tools I created), but as soon as those are closed MS Graph will then open up in edit form.
How to turn this off? It's incredibly unprofessional.

I'm trying to make a graph of Monthly profit and loss
I've got 2 tables: Invoices and Purchases.
Invoices contains the fields:
InvoiceTotal and InvoiceDate
Purchases contains the fields:
PurchaseTotal and PurchaseDate
I know I need to take one from the other to create my profit figure but what I can't figure out is how to incorporate the dates.
InvoiceDate and PurchaseDate might be different but both occurred in the same month, so I would like to sum my PurchaseTotal and InvoiceTotal during this month.
so the query I'm looking for would look like:
| Month | SumofPurchaseTotal | SumofInvoiceTotal | Profit |
I would then graph month and profit so my company could compare it's monthly performance ...

I have an x-y graph on a form that gets its data from a query. The query pulls five records of data from a table. So there are five data points I want to have displayd on the graph. I got the graph to work properly except it only displays four points! The first data point is not displaying.
I tried to set the datasheet in the graph to "ignore" the first row, as I noticed immediately that it does not have a number reference....I am assuming that is the problem.
Is there a method to resolve this easily? I assume that it must be done with vba. My data is used by the graph in two columns...first column is the X value, second column is the Y value.

counting in access on a make table query.I work for a recruitment company, and have a table for the vacancies we raise. I then have a table linking to this where you can record the candidates submitted for each role. The 'CVSubmitted' and '1stInterview' are a check box yes/no. I now want to run a query where I have a sum of the total number of CV's and 1st Interviews for each role.

I am developing a simple database for students to register courses using Microsoft Access 2010. I have 4 tables: Student, Register, Course, and Section (1 Course can have many Sections).
Then, there is a criteria that a student can only take up to 6 courses. Hence, may I know that where and how can I include this constraint? I believe that it should be in the Macro (Before Change) of the table Register...
My relationship is: Student -> Register <- Section <- Course

I think the answer will be very simple but I can only seem to graph one field using the Graph wizard. I have a table that have running totals:
Date-----Sales ---- Budget
1/8/2013 0 2000
2/8/2013 2500 4000
3/8/2013 2500 6000
4/8/2013 4000 8000
I can only seem to chart the first column after the date.

I'm trying to have a linked Excel chart in Access form. What I've done so far is create a chart in Excel and Paste Special>>Linked into Access.
I also have code inside Excel that will update chart data, it works fine.
Then I have code in Access that calls the code in Excel to update the data.
The data gets updated fine and the chart in Excel gets updated but the chart in Access only gets updated if I close and open the form again.
Here is the code that will update the Excel Data
Public Sub Import_VRSS_Graph_Data(strDayType As String, strTimeBand As String, strEntrance As String, Ws As Worksheet)
' Create a connection object.
Dim cnPubs As ADODB.Connection
Set cnPubs = New ADODB.Connection
' Provide the connection string.
Dim strConn As String
[Code] ....
