Modules & VBA :: How To Copy And Resize Multiple Pictures
Nov 25, 2014
Any way to copy files from a camera, to a new location using the dialog window and then resizing them before they reach there new destination. The selecting and copying them works fine, but I cannot find a way of resizing them in... or after the copying process.
I have a subform that I use in a few different ways on my database. It has a comment log with a memo field for people to insert their comments. The struggle is some can be long some can be short. Is there any way to have each record height adjust to the length of the memo?
If it cannot be done for the subform in regular use, my main concern is having it formatted for reports that are generated for clients.
I clipped and attached an example from a report. Its not the best example but the extra column height is adding additional pages to my report to accommodate one long comment.
I have a report that shows information on a property, and most have only one pictures, but some have several. The picture name is the same as the property code on the one's with only one pictures for example 1500-1111 is the property name and the picutres is 1500-1111 The only difference in the picture name on the properties with multiple picutes is that they have an a, b, c, d etc after the code, for example the first pictures is 1500-1234 and the second is 1500-1234a and the third is 1500-1234b etc, and the property code is 1500-1234.
I need to figure out a way for all the pictures to show up if there is multiples. The report only contains info on one side, so the other could line up the pictures in a column form. Any suggestions would be great. Thanks
Private Sub Report_Open(Cancel As Integer) Me.FilterOn = True Me.Filter = Forms!frmpropertydatabase.Filter
End Sub
Private Sub Detail_Format(Cancel As Integer, FormatCount As Integer) If Len(Dir("H:ApartmentsApartment Property Photos" & Me.propertycodenumber & ".jpg")) = 0 Then Me.imgEmpty.Picture = "H:ApartmentsApartment Property Photosophoto.jpg" Else Me.imgEmpty.Picture = "H:ApartmentsApartment Property Photos" & Me.propertycodenumber & ".jpg" End If End Sub
Hi there im trying to build a database that stores a large number of photos and would like some suggestions on how i can upload multiple photos (20+) at one time without uploading each one individualy, preferably through a form.
To outline the problem, each member of the team has a camera that they take to jobs, when they return i want them to be able to open a new form, enter the job number (the primary key) onto the form and then somehow drag and drop the pictures from the camera onto the form to upload them.
Is this possible through Access? is this the best way of uploading multiple photos easily? and how do i build this?
To start off I have only been working in Access(2003) for the past 2 months. And Yes I am a neebie of all neebies but please read on.
What I am trying to do is for every record I need to associate multiple pictures of damages to items in for repair. For example I have an High end Amplifier that came in for repair and the outside has markings of a fire(thats one pix) then opening it up we see that the fuses, wires and PC board has fire marks also(pix two) and so on. The record is keyed to the serial number. On the form my fields are Serial number, RMA #, all the senders info (name, address, contact number, store purchased, etc.). Then I created a subform for the picture with the following the picture itself, buttons(previous, next, add pic, delete pic) a hiden textbox(serial number) that I have joined(relationship) to the major form(serial number). How do I link the pic to that specific serial number and then other pictures that also link to that serial number.
I know its wordy but I wanted to make it as clear as I could.
I am using Access 2003 in a simple database and want to add digital pictures of each item in my database.
Before trying to enhance the database with pictures; the various fields are filled with either descriptive text or numbers. The size of the mdb database file is 464k.
I recently wanted to add a picture of each database entry. After adding a picture that is only 300k in size the mdb file increase to 18MD. Then after adding another picture also of 300k bytes my database grew to 25MB.
In the drop down menus Under Tools - Database Utilities - I ran the Compact & Repair Database. This did not reduce the size.
In the database Form I am using a Bound Object Frame to hold the picture and yes I am not linking the picture I am including it in the database. But, would only expect it to increase the database size by slightly more than the picture size.
I should also point out that the only way I have found to get the picture to be visible (not just an icon of the type of picture file) is to right click on the Bound Object Frame scroll down and choose Insert Object. Click on Create New and select Adobe Photoshop Image. This open adobe photoshop I make sure the picture properties are creating a picture of 300k.
So my question(s) is again. Why is my database increasing in size so rapidly? Is there a better to insert picture into a database?
I am using access 2013 to make a PowerPoint presentation based on the data in a query. I know how to do that much using VBA but I am also trying to make a slide with a picture on it from a saved location.
Dim db As Database, rs As Recordset Dim ppObj As PowerPoint.Application Dim ppPres As PowerPoint.Presentation On Error GoTo err_cmdOLEPowerPoint
[code]....
At the moment I am not worrying about adding the data as I know how to do this and had it working before - its just adding the picture to the slide.
I have been looking into populating a tree-view with folders and files, and have found some great examples for doing this, How ever...I cannot seem to work out how to show files/pictures in a form based on the click event of the tree-view.
I have managed to do an onclick event for the files in the tree-view, but I cannot seem to get the onclick event for folders in a tree-view.
Here is an example which I am working on at the moment, but get the error Object variable Or with block variable not set.
Code: Private Sub tvw_Click() Dim tClient As String Dim tParent As Scripting.folder Dim fd As Scripting.folder Dim fNode As MSComctlLib.Node
I have a custom Access application that handles my companie's Inventory and Invoicing. We are in the process of converting the Invoice report from a dot matrix to a laser printer. This invoice also is used as a delivery ticket which is signed by the customer requiring the laser invoice form to be carbonless. I found a 5 part carbonless laser form that works great and I have been able to use code to print the 5 copies and non-coallated using the PRINTOUT method. I am trying to go with a completely blank invoice form. I have ran into an issue with trying to print on the bottom of the report what each five copies are designated for. For example on Page one copy one I want to print "Original" then on Page one copy two I want to print "File Copy" and so on till all five copies of page one are complete. Then continue this process on page two until all pages have been printed....
Can anyone help me with a programming approach to accomplish this. You help with this would be greatly appreciated.
I am running a database in which end users input values into a table via a data access page. The problem is that there are usually lots of records in this table which requires the same value for a particular field.
I was wondering if there is a way to implement something so that the user can input the value once and the value is then copied to all the records?
I have this access "Database" that contains only one table that I'm trying to make a form for. I want it to allow the user to enter a value for field A and a value for field B then a list of values for field C (which is the key, so each would be a new record all with the same values for field A and field B). I tried to make a multiple item form but when I click on the new row for field C, fields A and B both disappear.
Disclaimer: I know that the creation of a one table database is a mortal sin but that's what my boss gave me and there are already >8000 records with a million mispelled words, so I don't think there's much I can do to make it a relational database without entering each record in again.
I have been unable to find a simple way to copy a text entry from a Table Field and paste it to multiple records in Datasheet view. The Toolbar 'Paste' procedure copies to the selected record only and I am unaware of how to select multiple records, as per a spreadsheet procedure.
Hi grus!!! I have my switchboard that when opened it looks like pic "switchboard 1" when I use the menu to open and then close any form my switchboard appears like pic "Switchboard 2". I have the code maximise on the on open event of the switchboard. Do you have any idea on how to get back the switchboard as on the first pic?? Thanks to all Declan
I have been running 2003 on XP SP2 for some time but a couple of days ago I needed to do a 'detect and repair' on Word but without resoring defaults. When I opened Access, the Properties Window was back to its default (small) size and couldn't be resized. An uninstall/reinstall made no difference.
Has anybody got any idea what might have happened and what I can do to put it right? I usually have it the height of the screen and this is driving me nuts!
Ok, this seems really lame to have to post this but in Access2007 none of my form or table windows have Mininize, Maximize, or the ability to resize. There is a Close X but nothing else. Being used to Access2003, I am used to being able to resize the windows or at least minimize them. The properties panel has control for these items but they do not appear when I set the properties to yes.
Hi Everyone: Just wondering if there's an easy way in Access 2000 to resize listbox columns if necessary to show all information - like you can in a table by clicking, or by the columns autoformatting. Thanks for your help.
Whilst at college was positive there was some coding, to automatically re-size the form when opening?? can anyone help with this, have spoken to a few people and they say to change in design view but i am finding this annoying. Any help would be appreciated.
The clients use this app with their monitor resolution set to 800 x 600. Whenever I edit a form I need to set my screen resolution to 800 x 600 to make sure the form is within bounds.
I wan't a fast way to set the Main Access Window's size too 800 x 600 pixels.
Application.DoCmd.MoveSize(,,800,600) is supposed to work but I get a syntax error.
Hey guys, I know how to maximize a form when it opens, but I was wondering if there isn't a way to actually shrink down the Access app window to specified dimensions when it opens the form? I'm trying to write a dimension-specific app, so there is no distortion what-so-ever. thanks!
I can't get my columns on a form to resize and have the rest of the columns move along with it. So e.g. if I have a form with headers and under that a couple of records, I want to resize the middle of three columns. If I select the column and then select, with shift, also the column header, I can resize the column. But the column on the right side doesn't move along with it. So I have to reposition every column after the resized one.How can I get Access to pick up that I want to move the other columns too?
I can't seem to size any of my charts to 100% of their object's size. I've attached screen shots of a chart in Design View, the chart properties, Chart Design View, and Print Preview. I've tried all of the Size Mode options.
I have seen and created combo boxes that resize when clicked to fit the size of the data inside. That is, the bound column might be a small string, like a in-house code (i.e. "aa", "ab", "bb" etc), but the combo box, when opened, expands to show the code in one column and the definition of what that code actually means in another to be all user friendly like.
I am trying to do this again, but I can't seem to get the box to expand when clicked. I have looked at a form where the box does expand, checked the settings (there was no code behind the other (sub) form), but I can't see why that combo box gets bigger and mine won't. I googled and for some reason can't find the answer to this question. It must be something obvious. What's going on?
I should just make the column larger, but this was requested to be added to a form after the fact, and everything would just be... nicer if I could get it to behave this way.
Under Current Database, I have "Overlapping Windows" checked. When I open a table, it opens to pretty wide. Then I resize it so that it takes up less space. After resizing, whether I click Save or not, after closing, then reopening the same table, it opens back to its original size (very wide), instead of opening at the smaller size that I resized the table to.
Is it possible to resize a table, and get it to open at that size next time you open that particular table?
