Modules & VBA :: How To Count Number Of ROWs In Query Result With Variables

I am trying to count rows in the result of one of the queries and I am having a bit of trouble getting it going.
The current code - this is executed as on-click event when clicked on List Box feed with query below.
What I want to add is simple if that when number of rows produced by the querry is 1 it will enable a picture item in the different part of the form, however it does not want to count the rows for me.

The query itself works when tested but when used in code with DCount function will return error: Run-Time 2471 the expression you entered as query parameter prouced this error
'[Forms]![FULLFILL ORDERS]![search items].[Column(0)]'.

I need to write a code that checks if every 6 lines in a table contains a string. If it contains the string, then carry on looping, but if it does not, it will delete the current line and the previous 6 lines before it. The program should then continue looping through the entire table.
For example,

Apple
a
b
c
d
e
Apple
f
g
h
i
j
Apple
l
m
n
o
p
q
Apple
.
.
.
I need to find the string "apple" in every 6 lines. So, that means that the first 2 Apples are fine, but for the third one needs to be deleted as it contains 7 lines instead of 6.

I want to add a number to my results within a query depending on the month and how many results. For example I have 10 results in my query 3 from January, 5 from March and the rest from April. The 3 from January would be 1,2,3. The five in March would be 1,2,3,4,5 and so on. Is it possible to do?
I'm using access 2003.

I want to return the number of record with the SQL search in MS Access. I am using the following code, the expected result will be a value. But somehow, it does not give any result.

I am having a problem with a Dlookup query. I want to achieve the following - I have 2 different tables
Demography Table - consisting of 2 fields, City and Region
For example
City Region
NYC NAM
The other Table totalflow consists of several field, one of the is flow from.
For example
Flow from
NYC
WAS
SEA
I want to do the following. Lookup the Flow from filed in table totalflow, and compare it to City in demography Table. If City = Flow from, return the value in Region. All are text fields.
I have tried following Query, but it only returns the same value for all rows. (from SQL view)
SELECT DLookUp("[Region]","Demography Table","[City] = '" &[Flow from]& "'") AS test
FROM [Demography Table], flowsize;

I have a result for a query made from four different tables for which I would like to refine the result of this query grouping multiple rows into columns.
Attached is a pdf file showing the results being obtained by my query and underneath is how the result would like it be after running the query.

How to add my own rows to a query in MsAccess ? I would like to do something like this: Select Name from Table 1 where age > 75 Union Select "Joe" from Dual; Expected Result: If Joe is not found in Table 1 ,then it would be added to the result of the query.How can I do it in MsAccess as it does not use " DUAL" table.

Well, here's my database :
Name : String
Address : String
I want to add an automatically generated column, "no.", to show which number it's in. Like this :
No. Name Address
1. A Unknown
2. B Unknown2
The problem is, I can do that with Auto-Number, but if the user delete row 1, the number in row 2 is still 2, not 1.
Is it possible to generate query that have "no." column in it ?

I only want to show 1 row, based on the duplication of E-mail address. I know i should be using the row_number function, but cannot get to the result I want.

I've been toying with this for a few hours but I always end up with the wrong result. Hopefully an expert here can provide some insight. I have a table called colors with two columns PNAME and COLOR. There are various products and only three possible colors. E.g:
Tablename: COLORS
PNAME COLOR
-----------------------
tshirt blue
pants blue
jacket blue
jacket green
shoes green
vest black
Now what I'm trying to do is create a single query that would provide me with the count of colors in three different columns.
E.g
Blue Green Black
-----------------------
3 2 1
I can get these results easily by creating several queries and then getting the results into one query from these, but I'm trying to learn how to put together nested queries. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I have a form with a search box, Its UNBOUND called ID . Everytime I search for an ID number it shows no results, However I know there are entries in the table. This is the code I am using :

Hi Folks
More questions from the newbie :eek:
I have a very simple table with a field that will have only the values open or closed
I created a query based on this table and used the count function (to count open or closed cases) and in the next querie field I used the group by open.
This gives me a count of all open cases
I can do the same for closed cases.
I want this count to be displayed on a Switchboard form but i cant get my nehad round how to get it there.
Can anyone help me out ?

I am running a report based on a query. When the query returns zero rows, the count function in the report gives an error. Probably a simple solution but I've searched and can't find an answer. What do I do to stop the report when there is no data?

In the Ranking column the result is: #error in the first 3 rows then zeroes

Hello
I have a field called [Hours]
If a user tries to change the [Hours] I need to check if any of these hours have been assigned to staff in another table.
How do I get to run the query and use the value from the result of the query as the Minimum value?
I would like to
run sql and if the value is being entered into the [HOURS] field is less then show a message and do not change allow the value to change.
I am sure this can be done in VB but I am am unsure of the syntax

I have a form that records followup activities for protocols. The form allows the user to enter up to six f/u actions from a dropdown menu in six separate fields (called fu1_action, fu2_action, etc).
I am trying to write a query that retrieves only protocols that only have one f/u action selected as "telephone correspondence" and am having trouble. It seems I could write a function in VBA that would somehow loop through the 6 f/u action fields and give a value of 1 to those that have 'telephone correspondence' as a response, and then add them up to give a total of calls for that specific protocol, and then in a separate query only retrieve those that have a total number of calls = 1, but how to get started in writing this.

I have a memo field that feeds to a textbox control on one of my forms. I would like to re-format the textbox using the .Height value based on how many lines appear in it (i.e. it will fit only 3 lines if there are 3, but 5 lines if there are 5, etc.).
Is there any way to count the number of lines that appear in the textbox?

My problem is as follows, i have created a report that calculates the total volume of FSC Materials. The user picks two dates from Calender controls that the report will range from. However the needs have now changed and i am required to make the report filter further based on user input, the problem i'm facing is that i cannot figure out a way to pass values from different variables to the report separate from another here is the code i would usually use to pass data to a query/report:

It is performing incorrectly within the case select and passing the wrong criteria, as it will only display results that meet the default values' criteria. However the date criteria is not be passed either.

Access 2010 vba - I'm trying to pass a start date and end date to a date field in a make table query, and use the 'between' operator on that date field.
So I have a criteria on the date field like this "Between [dtStart] and [dtEnd]" and if I run the query manually it asks for 2 values and then works fine.
Here's the code I'm trying to run:-
Set qdef = db.QueryDefs("qryTest")
qdef.Parameters("dtStart") = StartDate1
qdef.Parameters("dtEnd") = EndDate1
Set rs1 = qdef.OpenRecordset(dbOpenDynaset, dbSeeChanges)
and I get the error "3219 Invalid Operation" on the last line.

I have a table that contains many records of events. I've already created a multiple item form based on the table. My form contains 2 textboxes for input of a date range and a dropdown box to select "yes or no".
What I am having difficulty with is the query that will count the records by type insert it into the recordsource such that the multiple item form will appear like this:
Event Type| Count
Input | 4
Output | 2
Update | 3
How do I go about doing so? I have been testing with this simple query:

I am attempting to modify some code that is used for reading content in an Outlook mail and need to catch and move the email if certain content is duplicated in the email.
The code reads the email that is in the attached image format:
As seen, this email contains 2 devices, but the Serial No in both is duplicated.
In the code, I need to capture this and rather than reading the contents, I need to just move this email to a separate "Manual" folder to be dealt with separately, so not to write the information to the database.

In one table, I have a few fields. One of the field is "ItemSequence" and another one is "TotalPcs"."ItemSequence" is where user key in the sequence number for one or more item. 5 example for possible content of "ItemSequence" is as following :
1) 7
2) 4,6,9
3) 5-9
4) 3,5,9, 23-25
5) 3-5, 8-10
"TotalPcs" is the total number of items key in to "ItemSequence". For the 5 example above, the related "TotalPcs" should be as following:
1) 1 (1 item, which is item 7 alone)
2) 3 (3 item which is item 4, 6 and 9)
3) 5 (5 item which is item 5, 6, 7, 8 and 9)
4) 6 (6 item which is item 3, 5, 9, 23, 24 and 25 )
5) 6 (6 item, which is item 3, 4, 5, 8, 9 and 10)
For time being, the user have to count manually to get the "TotalPcs". I wonder is there a way to calculate the "TotalPcs" by programming?
