Modules & VBA :: Connect Datasheet Form To Active Directory Search Results

Jul 31, 2013

I'm trying to tie a from into the results from and AD Query. I'm not that experienced with doing this kind of thing so I may be going about this the wrong way. Anyway here's what I've got so far:

Code:
Private Sub Form_Open(Cancel As Integer)
Dim cn As ADODB.Connection
Dim rs As ADODB.Recordset
Set cn = New ADODB.Connection
With cn
.ConnectionString = "Provider=ADSDSOObject;Trusted_Connection=yes;"

[Code] .....

When stepping through the code, it all goes well until it hits the line that actually connects it to the form "Set Me.Recordset = rs".

When this line is executed, Access crashes and attempts to restart.

PS: Access 2010, Win7 64bit

Link With Active Directory

Apr 26, 2005

Hi All

I have a small Help Desk db with tables that contain computer spec and user information. But I already have all this information in Active Directory and it seems pointless entering the information twice.

Is there any way i can get the database to lookup the information from Active directory i have no idea where to start.

Thanks

Modules & VBA :: Code For Querying A List Of Filenames Within Network Directory?

Dec 12, 2013

After several days of searching, I haven't been able to find any threads related to this. I'm making a search form that queries a pdf library table. Once a search query is entered, the user is able to open the files from a results form. Currently, I am entering the filenames from the network directory manually into the pdf library table.

For example, I manually enter the following information into the tblPDFLibrary table that contains the fields:

Date added, Filename, File Path, Series, Class, Title.

I was wondering if there's a way to have Access query all the filenames in the directory for me. In other words, if the directory contains the filenames: AccountsPDF, InventoryPDF, CustomerPDF. Can I have Access query all the filenames within the directory and automatically add all the file names (AccountsPDF, InventoryPDF, CustomerPDF) to the Filename field within the tblPDFLibrary table? If I am able to do this, I can code the other fields to populate information because the filename contains all the other field information (except for file path but I can program it insert the UNC path).

Too Many Active Users

Mar 9, 2008

Hi Again guys,

I have a database application, front end on the local machines, back end on a server (it happens to be a mac server, but still works). Recently we upgraded to Access2007 on all systems, but left the backend in 2000 format. Ever since then we have been having issues with our users getting told "Too Many Active Users" when they try and access the backend. If all users disconnect and the reconnect it seems to be fine for a while, then after sometime it does it again. I assume it has something to do with the ldb file on the backend. It worked fine in 2003, now I am stumped. It possibly has something to do with permissions but I have no idea what.

Thanks for any help.

Modules & VBA :: Inventory - Show List Of Items That Aren't Already In A Table

Jun 19, 2015

I have a list box that allows multiple selections [Inventory]. I also have a combo box that has multiple selections [Shows].

Right now, user selects from list box and from a combo box and clicks a button. On button click, the items from the list box are associated with the PK from the combo and stored in a junction table. This allows me to quickly associate many inventory items to one show.

I realized that there I currently have no way to prevent duplicate Inventory+show records in the junction table besides having a composite key. This would be fine except no records get inserted into the junction table if there's a duplicate entry.

Ideally, I think that the user should select from the combo box [Shows]. This should narrow down what shows up in the list box [Inventory] in a way that Inventory items already associated with the show are not displayed.

If I have 10 Inventory items and Inventory items 1-5 are already associated with Show 1; after I select the combo box, the list box only displays Inventory items 6-10.

Here's the associated code

Option Compare Database
Option Explicit
Private Sub cmdAddRecords_Click()
Dim strSQL As String
Dim db As DAO.Database
Dim rs As DAO.Recordset
Dim ctl As Control

[Code] ....

Modules & VBA :: Show Hidden Tabs Based On List Box Column Value

Mar 30, 2015

I am designing a contact database for a diocese and the contacts record form is divided into several tabs, some of which are hidden by default. One of the controls on the form is a listbox (lboRoles), where a user can add one or more roles to contacts. The listbox has a hidden column that defines the TabIndex for the assigned role, and my goal is to make the associated tab on the form that was previously hidden, to now be visible.

For example, if a contact is assigned the role "Committee Member" and the tabindex value for that role is 3, the form should make the hidden tab (where the page index is also 3) now visible.

General :: List Of Active Links Populated From A Query

What is the best way to make the list of the fields sort of clickable so that I can click on any of them and e.g. open a form with information about a child record? Should I look for hyperlinks in reports, a list box, a continuous sub form with records?

Modules & VBA :: Create Directory Before Saving PDF

Nov 5, 2014

come up with the below code to create PDF documents based on a query. It has been working great but I have a change that I need to make and can't figure it out. The code below creates all the documents in one folder "serverD$DocumentsInvoices" but I need it to create a separate folder for each PDF so that the file (Invoice1234.pdf) will be in the folder (serverD$DocumentsInvoicesInvoice1234Invoic e1234.pdf). That folder does not exist, so I need to create it and then save the PDF into it.

Code:

Dim db As DAO.Database
Dim rst As DAO.Recordset
Dim qdf As QueryDef
Set db = CurrentDb
Set qdf = db.QueryDefs("Invoice_Report")
Set rst = qdf.OpenRecordset

Forms :: Show Users Logged In To Database

May 3, 2015

I would like to create a form that will show the users connected to the database. It would be kind of a tracker who opened the database to work on some cases. The form could show all users from the datbase from top to bottom and to the right a green or red round dot that she/he is active opened the database or not active (closed the database or did not open it still)

I was thinking that it could be applied when the main form opens and that form captures the login from windows into the "tracker" form.

I guess it will only work when the "tracker" form is first open. If the "tracker" form is open later, how to capture those logged in earlier?

How To Get Switchboard To Show Users When Data Was Last Updated

Jun 13, 2014

I maintain a shared database that I would like other users to be able to see when the data was last updated when they open it so that they can see how up to date the information is from the switchboard.

Currently I am doing this manually by updating the date in a label on the switchboard header, but ideally I would like to add a final action to my update macro (that imports new data into the database) that would automatically do this for me on completion if possible.

Modules & VBA :: Check Directory For A Folder Name Which Has Certain String In It

Jul 25, 2013

I'm trying to check a directory for a folder name which has a certain string in it (RecNum)

However the fso object filesys.FolderExists does not take an argument when looking for part of a folder name on a particular path.

What I basically want to do is look in a directory for a folder with the RecNum variable as part of the folder name. if it exists open it, if not create it.

This is how far i've got:-

targetdir = targetpath & RecNum & ChannelPartner & Enduser

Set filesys = CreateObject("Scripting.FileSystemObject")
If filesys.FolderExists(targetdir) Then GoTo function_end
MkDir targetdir
If filesys.FolderExists(copypath) Then
filesys.CopyFolder copypath, targetdir
End If
MsgBox ("folder created")
function_end:

Shell "Explorer.exe /n,/e," & targetdir, vbNormalFocus
