1. The target of this code is to set the [Section] value in the table
2. The [Section] value is at the 3rd column inside the csv file
3. By using the UPDATE query, it map the [Section] value to the corresponding [Program] and [Course] in the table
This code did the job. But the problem is the string of the [Section] value is like "2-22-01". But after update to the table, the value become "2/22/2001".
The value is a string text, not date. How can I prevent this happen ?
I just attached 2 files, 1 mdb and 1 txt (change the extension to csv before test).
I'd like to prevent for duplicate time/date for same GuideCode. How can i prevent for those during the entry time or save time ? Is it possible ?

1. AUNKZ(GuideCode) is already assigned in other file number(12345) for 03-Aug-14 (as 02-Aug-14 to 04-Aug-14).
2. TOD(GuideCode) is already assigned in same file number(23456) for 10-Aug-14, 12:00 PM (as 10-Aug-14 to 10-Aug-14, 8:00AM to 1:00PM). I'd like to prevent if the file number are same or not same.
Somehow it doesn't work out. It should extract all records with Valid_from = 01.01.2013 and valid_to = 31.12.2013. The Year assignment works.
Code: Public Sub BEN() Dim strSQL As String Dim t As Date, s As Date DoCmd.SetWarnings False Year = Right(pricedate, 4) t = 1 / 1 / " & Year & " s = 12 / 31 / " & Year & " strSQL = "SELECT TRANSFER_PRICES.* INTO [TEMP] " & _ " FROM TRANSFER_PRICES " & _ " Where [Valid_from] = " & Format(t, "#mm/dd/yyyy#") & _ " AND [Valid_to] = " & Format(s, "#mm/dd/yyyy#") DoCmd.RunSQL strSQL DoCmd.SetWarnings True End Sub
I would like to convert 2013.11.13 which is a string into a date. This is what i have so far but it's not working.
2013 year
11 month 13 day of week Dim strDate As String, dteConvertedDate As Date strDate = 2013.11.13 dteConvertedDate = CDate(Mid$(strDate, 6, 2) & "/" & Left$(strDate, 4) & "/" & Right$(strDate, 8)) MsgBox (dteConvertedDate) End Sub
I am trying to add 30 or 45 days to a certain date and insert that date in a table. The field is declared as datetime on the SQLServer and has been tried with all date formats, and none, on the access side. The problem I am encountering is that the date is being inserted as 12:00:00 in the table, no date is being stored. When I print out the SQL statement to the immediate window, the date in question shows the correct date.
Code:
Dim a As Date Dim b As Date a = DateAdd("d", 45, Me.DateOfExit) b = DateAdd("d", 30, Me.DateOfExit) strSQL = "INSERT INTO MyTable ( No, Name,DueDate, OriginatedBy, ID, Status) " & vbCrLf & _ "VALUES (" & Me.No & ",'" & Me.Name & "', " & b & ", '" & Me.Facilitator & "', " & Me.ID & ", '" & "Required" & "');"
I have tried adding the date add code to the SQL string, but that produced the same result.
I need to use VBA to get a string which is essentially just a month and year (so date, not including day)
Would Prefer it to be 04/15 as opposed to April-15, as the number is easier to sort than the word (how to sort month names in numerical order as opposed to alphabetical id).
So that I assume i could do by =format(now(), mm/yy) (though havent actually tested it)
However to add to the complexity id also need to add a month to it, so for instance todays date is 08/04/15, id need the string to read "05/15"
or if the date was 10/12/15 id need the string to read "01/16"
Hello, I HAVE searched the forums for many days but I could not find a solution. Maybe I'm not sure what to look for...
The MAINFORM_1(single form view) is based on a Query and has a cbo named 'cbo_client'. This cbo is for a field named [client_id]. The AfterUpdate [event] of 'cbo_client' does a requery on a field in the the following SubForm:
In the SUBFORM_1(datasheet) (based on another Query) is another cbo named 'cbo_subclient', with a select statement of 'Select (all the needed fields) FROM tbl_subclient WHERE ((([tbl_subclient].[subclient_id])=[Forms]![mainform_1]![cbo_client])).
Everything (incl. the REQUERY) works fine, and all the tables gets updated with the records the way it should. No problems.
But this is where i get stuck...: Once the user has entered data in the SUBFORM_1 datasheet, and then >changes the 'cbo_client'< on the MAINFORM_1, it requery the subform like it should, BUT the previously entered data in the subform is already written to the table!
So, I need a way to prevent the data in the subform from beiing stored if the user changes the cbo on the mainform (for a second time). OR prevent the cbo on the mainform from beiing changed after the subform is completed.
I hope you understand what I'm trying to do...
Please, just a point in the right direction and i'll battle it out from there.
I am trying to filter a recordset with a variable q. The field in the table associated with the record set is of data type Date/time. I assigned data types String and Date to q but both cases generates the error message " Data type mismatched in expression".
I use textboxes to limit the time periods for report the defaults are set to first and last day of previous month I'd like to add a button that would set you a month back/forward, but I'm stuck on how to change values to correspond to first/last day ofprevious month
I've created a form. Within that form I have an image control. I am using this code to pull the corresponding plant image from a folder filled with JPGs.
It works just fine except one thing. When I change from record to record my cursor jumps to the center of the pulled JPG. I don't want my cursor to move at all when loading these images. Is this possible? Thanks.

I have an Access 2010 application running on Win 7 Pro which connects to a Back End SQL Server database. I am trying to get Access to synchronise the client pc system date & time with the Sql server date and time. Please note, the date/time does not necessarily have to be correct, it just has to be consistent between the server and all the pcs running the Access application.
I have tried two methods as follows. But both only work if Access with Administrator privileges, which isn't really practical.
Method 1:
Code: Dim MyDateTime As Date 'Some Code here to get MyDateTime If MsgBox("Change date & time to:" & vbCrLf & vbCrLf & MyDateTime & "?", vbYesNo, "Change") = vbYes Then Date = DateValue(MyDateTime) Time = TimeValue(MyDateTime) End If
Method 2:
Code: Private Type SYSTEMTIME wYear As Integer wMonth As Integer wDayOfWeek As Integer wDay As Integer
I'm trying to hash two scripts I've found into 1 functioning filter, however I'm still relatively new to vba and can't figure out how to get this working.
I'm trying to use Allen Browne's Search Criteria:
with another snippete of code I found here:
Code: 'Purpose: This module illustrates how to create a search form, _ where the user can enter as many or few criteria as they wish, _ and results are shown one per line.
[Code]....
It's the date part I'm having trouble with, the rest of the search criteria work fine without the date, but I can't get it working when I try to modify and merge the date sections of each code.
Also I'm using a listbox for the "Yesterday";"Last 4 days";"Last 9 days" and not a combo box.
how do i change a connection string from passthrough query; i have about 100 passtrhough querys with of course a connection to a databse (oracle). With one button in a form i want to be able to change the connection to another database (oracle).
I am using ms access 2007 and outlook 2010. I have vba set up to send the output of a query to the body of an email. Is there a way I can specify which address to send this email FROM using ms access vba? This is going to be a split database, and every computer has different email addresses associated with it. However, this query email will need to be sent from the same email address (every time, so it would be useful to specify the query sends this email from admin every time.
I would like to use code to change the connection string for linked tables in my front end database. I have tried using the connection property of the TableDefs collection, this seems to work while I step through the code but does not change the existing connection property. Any suggestions?
I've design a form as such when i FIRST add a NEW RECORD, I want the system date to be capture into the form. I have a table calls Register. And this table has a field "DATE" which takes the value of the system date(=now). However, when i open the same record the next time, the orginal value(at the time when the record is created) of the field "DATE" will be replaced by the new system date. However, i do not want this to be happen because i want the field "DATE" to take the value of the system date when i first created the record. My question is how to prevent subsequent system date from being updated in the record whenever i open the same record? Thank you.
I want code with message that can prevent user to adding a new record for an employee within specific of date through a form in the Ms Access database, but after a period of date i can, For example (after two months of the last record on the main table i can add the new record, otherwise the message will popup tell the user that this employee didn't complete tow months of last adding)
Hi there. I'm just jumping into Access and have the following question. In my Purchase Order Table, I have a date field calcualated as text, i.e. "01/12/04". I need to convert this to a date format in my queries so I can do calculations, i.e. 01/12/04 - 01/05/04 = 7 days. Can someone help me with how to convert this text date to a date format. Sorry if this is an easy question. - AJS
Is there a way to prevent users from making a shortcut to a database? I have my database split and I want users to copy the front end and paste it on their desktop. However, there is a high turnover rate among the people who will be using this database. As a result, I'm concerned that the instructions to copy and paste the database may not be passed along. I would like to avoid the possibility of someone making a shortcut to this database.
I would also like to prevent users from relocating the database by inadvertently dragging and dropping it in a new folder. The only person who should be able to move the database or work directly in the master copy of the front end is the person designated at the "admin" in my Users table (that would be myself and one other person). Is any of this possible?
I currently assign multiple 'skills' to departments using a listbox and a combo using the following code
Code: Private Sub cmdSaveReq_Click() Dim strSQL As String Dim db As DAO.Database Dim rs As DAO.Recordset
[Code]....
However as time goes on we may want to add new skills to the depts - ive used dcount to check if the data exists in one field before however how would it be possible to check to see if the data combination exists over deptid and skill

All I want to do is prevent two lunches, etc. from being entered on the same date. Code that results in the message box every time, regardless if a duplicate record or not.
