Modules & VBA :: How To Remove Runtime Background

Jul 22, 2013

I have changed numerous features in "Current Database" under "Options", but I am unable to achieve what I need. I just need a popped form to show up when the program is initiated (no other background), meaning, I want to hide all the Runtime menu. I am able to get to the point of just the form showing up, but the form is maximized, which is not what I desire.

General :: Remove Background Colour When Outputting To PDF

Mar 20, 2014

I have a form with subform that uses colour as background colour for all fields on the form, and also a very light background for the whole form. This outputs very well to PDF, retaining all of the layout etc.

However, consisting of over 100 pages I do not want any colour at all in the printed report, no do I want the colour converted to black or grey. Inkjet cartridges are just too expensive!

Is there an easy way to remove all colour before printing or do I have to design another report?

Modules & VBA :: Combo Box Does Not Want To Change Background Color

Code:
Private Sub cmbCurrentStatus_AfterUpdate() '<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<< Working on >>>>>>>>>>>>>

MsgBox "Checked (date) can't be empty if Current Status is filled in!", , "Incomplete Form!"

Else
Me.[STEP 1 4 check current status].BackColor = RGB(255, 255, 255)

Modules & VBA :: Background Image In Word Document

Mar 18, 2015

If I use the word template named "ABC.dot" as attached and write the following piece of code to print off the letters with different appropriate background , it works perfectly fine:

Code:
Sub PrintLetters()
Application.DisplayAlerts = False
Dim cn As ADODB.Connection
Dim rs As ADODB.Recordset
Dim r As Long
Set cn = New ADODB.Connection

[Code] ....

But if I combine two templates together in one template as attached "Capita.dot" then it doesn't display background picture at all in any of the cases. I am using the same piece of code but the background image is not displaying. The background image shows logos for each letter like For capita letters , the logo will be capita . For Friends Life letters the logo background will be different.

Modules & VBA :: Runtime Error 52 When Using Dir Function

Jul 2, 2013

I'm trying to delete a file in a network location. Sometimes the file is there, sometimes it's not, so I'm using the following code:

Code:
strPath = "etwork driveMy Folder"
strFilename = "MyFile.doc"
If Not Dir(strPath & strFilename) = "" Then Kill strPath & strFilename

Occasionally, I get a runtime 52 error when the file doesn't exist. I don't understand why I'm getting this when, if the file doesn't exist, the Dir function should return "".I searched the forums for Runtime 52, and didn't find anything pertaining to this.

Modules & VBA :: Runtime Error 3464 On Form Command Button

Jun 22, 2014

I am currently creating a form which includes a command button to update a field in a table to show Today's Date, at the time of running a query I am still yet to write.

I have the following code for my Command Button, which is returning the Runtime Error 3464 (Data type mismatch in Criteria Expression):

Private Sub cmdAddTodaysDate_Click()
CurrentDb.Execute (" UPDATE tblMyTable SET TodaysDate = " & Date & " WHERE tblMyTable.ProductCode = " & Me.txtProductCode)
End Sub

The query above seems to be having issues matching the text from the 'txtProductCode' textbox to the table field 'ProductCode'.

Modules & VBA :: Runtime Error 2580 - Record Source Does Not Exist

Jun 9, 2015

I currently have this set as the forms default recordsource (which works just fine):

Code:
SELECT TOP 5 tblUsers_Phone_Book.EMAIL_ADDRESS, weightedDL('me@mine.com',[EMAIL_ADDRESS]) AS Expr1

And I have this vba to dynamically switch around that email address.

Code:
Private Sub Form_Load()
Dim intPos As Integer
Dim strControlName As String
Dim strValue As String
Dim sSQL As String
If Len(Me.OpenArgs) > 0 Then
' Position of the pipe

[Code] ....

If I msgbox the sSQL - it shows identical to the default recordsource but I get the error:

The error message I get is:

Run-Time error '2580'
The record source 'SELECT TOP 5 tblUsers_Phone_Book.EMAIL_ADDRESS, weightedDL('me@mine.com',[EMAIL_ADDRESS]) AS Expr1' specified on this form or report does not exist.

I tried copying the exact working default sql into the vba and get the same result.

Modules & VBA :: Runtime Error 3464 - Data Type Mismatch

Mar 15, 2014

I have built in code a long sql statement as follows:

SELECT Age, BirdType, Flock, House, [Lab#], Organ, Origin, SampleDate, SampleType, Site, Source, SourceGroup,
[VT#], ProfileID, APIName1, APIAmts1, APILevels1, FullVals1, Match1, APIName2, APIAmts2, APILevels2,
FullVals2, Match2, APIName3, APIAmts3, APILevels3, FullVals3, Match3, APIName4, APIAmts4, APILevels4,
FullVals4, Match4, APIName5, APIAmts5, APILevels5, FullVals5, Match5, APIName6, APIAmts6, APILevels6,
FullVals6, Match6, APIName7, APIAmts7, APILevels7, FullVals7, Match7, APIName8, APIAmts8, APILevels8,

[Code] ......

When I try to open a recordset based on this sql, it gives me the runtime error - which is odd since I don't have any criteria in the statement.

I think the problem may be that vba is somehow adding a line break between "fullvals" and "18", but I don't know why it would do so and it doesn't always (only if the string is long).

Modules & VBA :: How To Remove ADO RecordSet From ListBox

Aug 6, 2013

How does one go about removing a recordset from a ListBox?

I have a list box that I want to toggle between using a query and an ADO RecordSet to populate the values.

Once I set the listbox .RecordSet property to the ADO.Recordset, I can't remove the values displayed in the listbox when I assign a query to the .RowSource property.

I suppose I can turn the .RowSource query to an ADO Query but I am being lazy and don't want to rewrite the query as a T-SQL query.

I previously thought the list box was pulling data from the .RowSource query but I realize I was wrong.

Modules & VBA :: Remove Special Characters

Feb 25, 2015

I have a Memo field that is used to be a description of a document. I don't know what the user will put in (could be anything), but it is eventually passed in a string to a query, etc.I discovered during testing that if an apostrophe is entered (Ex: This document explains how to deal with Joe's pleasant disposition.), it breaks my code. I then realized that all reserved words and characters would cause this problem.

I can get around this one just by using Replace(str, "'", "''"). However, I know there are others that will cause problems, and I don't want to end up with a string of replace statements just to fix them.

Modules & VBA :: Runtime Error 3071 When Used With IF Statement To Highlight Incorrect Entry

Jun 23, 2014

In my database I am trying to produce a "Statistics" function. As part of this, the user will enter a "Start Date" and "End Date" in a form and then click a button which will open the requested report with the date drawn from a query. The code on clicking the "All Jobs" button is:

Code:
DoCmd.OpenReport "RepStatisticsAllJobs", acViewPreview

Which works perfectly.

I am trying to stop the user from leaving the date fields blank or entering dates outside of the range of the database so I have tried the code:

Code:
Private Sub AllSalesEnquiries_Click()
If Me.DateFrom = "" Then
Beep
If MsgBox("You have not entered a start date", vbCritical, "Start Date Not Entered") Then

[Code] ....

If the user enters dates within the range of the database the report is presented correctly.

If the user does not enter a date or enters one outside of the range it produces the correct message box however if the user then corrects the mistake I receive a Runtime Error 3071 message. Clicking "Debug" highlights the final line of code:

DoCmd.OpenReport "RepStatisticsAllJobs", acViewPreview

I know that the code is correct because it works fine as stand alone code and it works if the user enters the correct dates so I am not sure where I am going wrong.

The date format works perfectly for the way dates are formatted in the database.

Modules & VBA :: Sorting Out Data To Be Used In Final Table - Runtime Error 3021

Nov 25, 2014

I have managed to sort out the data to be used in the final table. However, I am having trouble transferring the data from each of their own tables into the final table.

Each time I run my code I receive "run-time error 3021: No current record."

It seems that only my timestamp is being added properly, but the error pops up and highlights the first "rstInsert.Edit" of my code. I'm suspecting that my function is running too fast, such that it did not have time to read that the table has already been populated by the timestamp in the AddNew code

Code:
Private Sub Command9_Click()
Dim dbs As DAO.Database
Dim rstTimestamp As DAO.Recordset
Dim rstAcknowledgement As DAO.Recordset
Dim rstAgent As DAO.Recordset

Modules & VBA :: Access 2010 / Runtime Error 1004 While Export To Excel

I'm using Access 2010 and I want to export a query to Excel by clicking a button. After exiting it Access tells me I got a run time error 1004: the open-method of the workbook object couldn't be executed. After opening my Excel file it says that Excel found unreadable content and asks if I want to restore the content of the workbook.

Here is my code:

Code:

Modules & VBA :: Remove Prompt While Running Report

Apr 9, 2015

I posted this within the Reports as well, but since this has a little bit of VBA decided to ask this here as well.

I have a report that is created from the following query (qryTotalProjectHours). What I am trying to do is get the total hours spent on Tasks within a given time period. A given Task can we worked on by multiple individuals and hence I need to find a way to aggregate the hours spent.

Code:
SELECT TasksEntries.Project, TasksEntries.Task, Sum(TimeTracker.WorkHours) AS TotalHours
FROM TasksEntries INNER JOIN TimeTracker
ON (TasksEntries.EmployeeId = TimeTracker.EmployeeId) AND (TasksEntries.TaskID = TimeTracker.TaskId)
GROUP BY TasksEntries.Project, TasksEntries.Task

I accept the start and end dates in a form and pass it like shown below. WorkDate is a column in the TimeTracker table and is not present in any other table.

Code:
strWhere = "WorkDate BETWEEN #" & txtMgrRptStartDate & "# AND #" & txtMgrRptEndDate & "#"
DoCmd.OpenReport "rptTotalProjectHours", acViewPreview, "qryTotalProjectHours", strWhere, acWindowNormal

When the report is invoked, I get a box where it says
"Enter parameter value" for Workdate..

Is there anyway I can get rid of the prompt? I never thought you needed the column name in the SELECT statement to be able to run this.

I should add the I tried the query with the WorkDate hardcoded in there and it worked fine and returned the correct results

I have attached the cut down version of the database that I am working on.Open up the frmManagerReport Form
Leave the Employee drop down empty
Enter the start and end dates ( I have used 4/1/2015 and 4/30/2015)
Select the 3rd option "Generate Tasks by Total Hours"
click on Run
When you do that you will see the prompt come up. Enter any date and you will see the report. The report generated uses the results from the query and does not filter on the date selected in the form. This is what I have been struggling to fix since yesterday but have reached nowhere..

I have tested selecting 4 or so records on the list box and then pushing the remove button but it seems that the only record that is removed is the selected record that is furthest down on the listbox.
