How do you requery/refresh a form from within another form?
refresh formA from within formB in VBA?
I have created a split form that shows all records from the main table. On the split form (form1) I have a button that opens a second form (form2) to add records. On form2 I created a button to save the records and that works fine, but form1 does not show the new record after the save button is clicked.
I am attempting to use requery to show the new record but I am not having any luck. Right now, form1 only shows the update if I switch to detail view and then back to form view. Maybe I am not doing something right, I am new to using MS Access and VBA. I have tried using the requery with an onclick on the save button and I also tried using requery on form1 in the ongotfocus event. I am using a macro to do the requery, and I have left the argument blank.
Can someone please point me in the right direction to fix this?
Please refer to the attached file. The form of concern is frmAssessmentInput.
Select the appropriate criteria per instructions (in red), including entries on the continuous subform. Then click the "Input data" command button. A 2nd form opens (frmObservations) that contains a textbox labeled DocumentStreamID, and this textbox SHOULD contain the value from the corresponding DocumentStreamID textbox contained in the master form, where you clicked the command button. However, even though the sources are linked properly, the value doesn't pass if you click the command button immediately after adding a new record to the continuous form; it only passes if 1) the master form is closed and reopened first, or 2) if you close the 2nd form, toggle to design view and back to form view for the master form, and then click the "Input data" button again.
What is going on here? Given that the value passes once another procedure is run, do you think this a requery problem? I tried placing a VBA control requery in the 2nd form's On Current and On Load events, but this didn't solve things for me so I took out those event procedures (code could have been wrong though).
I am working with 2 forms and a subform.
frmTaskTracker -subfrmInbox (Datasheet View - based on a query)
frmUpdateInboxItem
subfrmInbox displays a summary of tasks on a task list. The user navigates to frmUpdateInboxItem from frmTaskTracker. After updating a record from frmUpdateInboxItem, it is possible that it the record in question will no longer meet the requirements to have it listed on subfrmInbox.
I have attempted to add code to the on close event of frmUpdateInboxItem to requery the sub form on frmTaskTracker but am not getting the syntax correct.
correct my code? Alternatively is there is a more correct way to do this, I'd be happy to learn it.
Code:
Option Compare Database
Private Sub cmdClose_Click()
Me.[frmTasktracker]![subfrmInbox].Requery
DoCmd.Close acForm, "frmUpdateInboxItem"
End Sub
I have a subform in a tab within a mainform. Within the tab there is a button to open a form to delete/add data to the subform. So upon closing this pop up form I want to update the subform to show what has been deleted or added, I have tried the various things to requery the subform but none of it seems to work, here is what I have tried;
Code:
Forms!frm_Capex_Submission!frm_CapexSignatures.Requery
I assumed this would work but evidently not...
I have also tried;
Code:
Forms!frm_Capex_Submission!frm_CapexSignatures.Form.Requery
and;
Code:
Forms!frm_Capex_Submission!frm_CapexSignatures.refresh
I have a DCount code that traps duplicate records in the database and gives a message box. (the dcount is based on 2 criteria that are a compound index) I would like to have the message box ask if the user wants to go to the duplicate record. How would I write the code that when the user clicks yes, the form requeries and opens to the record that matches the criteria? Is there a way to add criteria to a requery?
View 7 Replies View RelatedI have a main form that the user will enter data. Once they hit a submit button, it saves the record and I was hoping it would also refresh the form in which is populated by a query. The form that is linked to a query will be displayed on a monitor 24/7. It will display pending orders. So I was hoping as new orders are placed, the query would display them without needing to be closed and then reopened.
Here is the method I'm using but it's not working.
Code:
DoCmd.Requery "frmPDMonitor"
I have this code:
Public Sub cmdRequery_Click()
Dim vFlag As String
vFlag = Me![EncounterNbr]
Me.Requery
With Me.Recordset
.FindFirst "[EncounterNbr] = '" & vFlag & "'"
Me.Bookmark = .Bookmark
End With
The user starts on a continous form and opens a record, makes some changes, and then when that form closes it triggers this public sub.
The code does what I want it to do in that it returns to the last encounter number that was selected (now on the continous form again) and it requeries and shows anything that was changed about the record on the form that was closed before requery.......
But it always resorts and moves it and I want it to stay in the same spot unless the user sorts. Is there any way to make that happen?
I have a form with two subforms. One subform is a datasheet that pulls data from a temp table. During the other subforms Form_Current, the temp table is emptied (DoCmd.RunSQL "Delete from tblAddRefs"), reloaded with data relevent to the current record, and requeried (Forms("frmEDFP").Controls("tblAddRefs subform").Requery). This works like I want it to...
With the exception of the initial load of the main form. The subform based on a table shows (#Deleted) instead of data. if I step through the code, I can see that the temp table is emptied and repopulated by the time I try to requery the subform. This is still happening during the Form_Current of the other subform, which is successfully running on main form load.
If I requery (Forms("frmEDFP").Controls("tblAddRefs subform").Requery) using a button on the main form once it is loaded, the #deleted data is correctly is replaced by regular data, so it's like the requery in the Form_Current event isn't doing anything during load.
In short, here is what I am trying to accomplish:
1. I have a two-tier, tabbed Navigation form (Menu-Main).
2. One of the second-tier tabs opens a form (VendorMain) which displays a Datasheet based on [Query.Vendor_Query]
3. VendorMain contains a Command Button (EditButton), which calls a subform (VendorForm) used for editing.
4. Upon saving the edits, VendorForm's OnClose event is supposed to Requery the datasheet on VendorMain, so the edits are reflected when the user returns.
I have tried over a dozen different permutations of the following, but nothing seems to work:
Me!Parent.Requery
Forms!VendorMain.Requery
Forms![Vendor_Query].Requery
Forms!Main-Menu!VendorMain.Requery
Etc...
VendorForm opens, edits, saves and closes perfectly. However, I consistently get the following error and the parent form is not requeried:
Runtime Error 2450 - Cannot find the referenced form VendorMain
Code available upon request.
I have a split form that's like a list of pending tasks. The data source is a linked SharePoint 2013 list where users submit requests. The user takes the information from each record and performs an action. When it is done, the user presses a button and the task status changes from "Pending" to "Processed". The form record source is based on a query that finds only records with a status of "Pending" so when the user changes the status of the task, it is removed from the list. It works fine except when there is only one task left in the work list. If the user processes the last task, the form refreshes and it goes to a new empty record and I get an error message that says I must enter a value into one of the required fields. I tried making the field non-required but it just creates an empty record in the table.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI tried all sorts of permutations of the requery command but apparently I'm too dense to figure it out.
Form 1

I'm trying to requery a combo box (inside of subform 1) based on a table that is updated from the pop up form.
On pop up form close, what's the correct syntax for re-querying subform 1?
I have a form that shows a companies engagement with our company. If someone wants to edit the details of that company (address phone number etc...), they click the "edit" button, which then opens a form where edits can be performed.
After the edits are done, the user clicks a save and close button which runs docmd.runcommand acCmdSaveRecord, and returns to the companies engagement form.
When I return to the company engagement form, I would like to see the companies information reflect the changes that I just made. Currently, I can only do this by exiting the form and re-opening. I have tried using Me.Requery in the OnGotFocus, Activate and Current events to no avail.
I should mention that I have a company combo box with multiple columns that are used to display address, postal code, etc... in textboxes on the same form.
i have a main form with three sub forms on it. when i update subform 1 i want subform 2 and 3 to update..currently i have an after update event in a combo box subform 1
Code:
[Forms]![FRMDATESUM]![frmHOURSUMnowork].Requery
[Forms]![FRMDATESUM]![frmHOURSUM].Requery
when the user updates the combobox in subform one nothing happens to the other subforms until close and reopen main form
I have 2 forms: Form_1 and Form_2. In each on them I have a 2 Fields named ID. I need when I open Form 2 to update the field ID with number from field ID, Form_1.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have this code below that is working however the calculation are updating on my form late.
Basically, I have some calculation that are performed on a "After Update" event on some controls on my form. I wanted it to do the calculation after I update the control on the form.
The code is in a module and I just call the function after update on the control But the form is not updating when I change the value in a field. I have to change the field again for it to update.
Control
Code:
Call GeraAuditCalc
DoCmd.RefreshRecord
Function

Function GeraAuditCalc()

Dim Ttl As Double
Dim Ttl1 As Double
Dim Ttl2 As Double

I have an order form with an order details sub form. Both are bound to their respective tables and function correctly, with the OrderID being inserted automatically into the order details table.
However I am using VBA to update and check stock and have it working when attached to a separate form called process orders. Which event would be the best place to place this code. I do not really want to have the process orders form. Would it be on the master form or the sub form. I thought of placing it in the after insert event on the subform, but there can be many order items per order and it will run before I have finished adding order items. I tried it in the after insert event on the master form, but I think that this will run the code too soon as at this stage the order details will not have been written to that table.
Can someone please check this code for me, I just need to make sure that what I am doing is correct!
I am trying to requery a form from another form:

I am new at Access and have a database that has 2 tables (Donors and Donations). My donations form's source is a query. I have a combo for the DonatorID on the Donations form. I have a On Not in List macro that opens the Donors form so they can enter the name of a new donor. This works great but when you close the Donor form and the focus goes back to the DonorID combo, the new donor isn't in the list. How can I requery this so the new donor that was added to the Donor table shows up in the combo? I played around and added another combo that had tab index 0 and then everything works but this aint the solution.
Thanks for your help.

I have an unbound form in which a user enters data relating to a credit dispute, and when they hit the Save button I have a sub that is intended to insert that data into a table. Is there a way I can requery a continuous form. Basically my form runs from a query. If when certain criteria become true I want that record to move to a different form, (working on another query) Basically I am saying is that if checkbox1 = true then I want to hide that record. Does that make sense?
View 2 Replies View RelatedHi,
I have scanned through the forum but have not found an answer for the above..
How do I do a requery only for the combo box of a particular record in a continuous form?
To be brief...the user has to select the pimary sector for a project . After, this, I want the next field to show up all sub-sectors based on the value selected in the previous primary sector combo box.
When I do a requery using the following code,
Me.cboDACCode.Requery
all the records in the form get requeried.
All the field are bound field.
There was a similar post in the form but was not complete.
Thanks...PH
