Modules & VBA :: Increment Variable Length Alpha Numeric Field By 1

I have a database that is used for tracking changes to numerous courses. Part of this database create a unique tracking number for each course problem developed. Currently I have the form do a comparison using the highest most number to compare against the current number assigned and prevent the form from saving until the number is incremented and not a duplicate, it would be a lot easier if I could just have it increment plus 1. I have seen various answers but they all seem to depend on the alpha portion of the field being a set value, in my instance it is variable in length. The only part that is fixed is the last four characters to the right which are the numeric portion I would like to increment. For example the field can equal:
QACP-M-PIQ-6059
QACP-M-PREF-6002
how to extract just the numeric portion, increment it by one and save?
I have been downloading .csv files from a construction website that we use to following projects as they develop. I import the file into Excel and then want to bring it into my database. The issue is with two fields I have that are numeric, however, when downloaded into Excel, the information in the two fields now have an (')added to the beginning and end of the string, i.e. and the second field has an (') and (-) to the data.

The second field is a zipcode field that comes in like this:
'14063-1127' '14222-1004'
I would like to design a query to strip the ' from each field as well as the (-) in the zipcode field.If I have to write 2 separate queries that is fine.
I need some kind of function (I been told) that generates 3 different alphanumeric autonumbers in the same field when adding a new record, starting such field from A-1, B-1 and C-1 to infinite.Because the record gets inserted in the table with an append query and not manually through a form, I believe the function should be placed in the Default Value setting of the field.
I have a text field having data i-e HO-1, HO,2, ACW-25 and so on. The field name is nBadge_num and is Unique. The data in this field is sorted automatically like 1, 10, 11, 12, 13, 2, 3, 4, 5...because this is the text field.
The number on the form is automatically generated, when the user type HO- for example on field exit event. The last number will generate like HO-5.

My problem is when the number is generated it give HO-5 instead of HO-14, How can I sort the numeric part of the field ?
I am trying to create a query that will return the max value of small groups of alpha numeric fields. The numeric portion is the same for a series/group of items, but the alpha increments. Example: (I color coded the numeric groups for ease of reading)
Unfortunately, I do not have any other fields that I could use to help. I was able to create two calculated fields one with the numeric portion and one with the alpha portion, but then didn't know how to remove the unwanted ones. Also, every value is the same size, 7 numbers, one dash, four numbers, and one letter. My table has around four thousand records or so.
I thought of writting a VB app to single step and compare, but I am hoping there is a better method.
I have been pouring over this site and trying all kinds of things that end up failing. I am not a novice, but obviously not an expert.
I'm trying to create a validation rule that requires an input of 5 numeric characters OR if the entry begins with a letter it can be any length. For example if the record begins with a number the length must be 5. If it starts with a letter any length is acceptable.
I have a form that is being used for sample submission. Ideally, the user will be able to put in some information (3 or 4 fields) and the number of samples that they're taking, click the arrow and it will insert that number of samples into a temporary table that is then displayed on a continuous form. From there, they can edit samples, add more samples, and generate a report to submit to the genotyping group. Once their sample list is final, I will append it to the master list and clear the temporary table.
I've got the basics working. A looped "INSERT INTO" using a counter inserts the relevant information. I cannot, however, seem to get the numbering field to work.
Ultimately, the numbers need to look something like MySample-001, where MySample would be one of the other fields. Incrementing the 001 is the problem. In another situation in the database, I can successfully use DMax+1 to assign a single number on a single form, but I can't get it to increment the sample numbers.
Ideally, I'd like it to happen when the form is generated. However, I'm also open to having them assigned when the sample list is finalized, before inserting into master table.
I have 2 fields in a query which I want to write to a table. Eg ProductName (field length 10) and Product Code (field length 5) the fields need to be filled out so the length makes the maximum text
For example product name 'test' length is 4 i have to add 0 to make the length to 10 so the field will be 000000test same thing applies to Product code. I have 700 records like this, is there a way in VBA where it adds the extra text to make it the maximum length.
I have a table that stores ID,PolicyNumber,NewPolNo fields.It has millions of records. The field NewPolNo is empty. I need vba code that will check the following for each record:
1. If the length of the PolicyNumber is over 14 characters long then store that PolicyNumber value in NewPolNo field.
2. If the length of the PolicyNumber is less than 14 characters long thenagain store that PolicyNumber value in NewPolNo field.
3. But if the length of the policyNumber equals to 14 digits long then check the following:
a) If the last 7 digits are 0's of that PolicyNumber. If yes then store first 7 digits in NewPolNo field. b) If the last 7 digits are not 0's then store the whole PolicyNumber value in NewPolNo field.
We need to check these conditions for each record of the table.
I'm making up a stock system for the independent jewellers I work for. Each stock pattern needs an individual code which can quickly be recognised read as tickets are often taken off the jewellery and can be mixed up easily. To this end we categorise based on two criteria:
1. Material 2. Type

So if I had three pairs of silver earrings I want the first to be No. 161, the next 162, the next 163. If I had three Gold Bracelets I'd want them No. 251, 252, 253 and so on...Material and type are both selected form separate Comboboxes on a form.
I have 2 databases with the same structure, but different data.
I want to put all the data in 1 database.
The problem is that the most important table (clients)has an autonumeric id field, that is used to link the records to the fields of many other tables; so, I cannot delete or change that field without losing connections.
I'm working on a module which determines which the previous and next task for the part is. To do this the module finds the first record where the previous field says 'none' and puts the following into variables; the ID for the part (WoTasksFID), The routing number (TaskNumber), the job that is being completed at this stage (Shop), and the task order ID (TaskOrderID). I then want it to find the first record which has the same ID for the part and has a TaskNumber that is one smaller (This is where the error in my code occurs). I record the same variables as before (this time with a prefix "Prev") and use the information to fill the previous and next fields for each record set.
Like I said, the error occurs when I am trying to match the WoTasksFID - instead of finding a field with the same WoTasksFID, it seems to choose the first field in the table no matter the value. Here's the function:

I have a form and a VBA event in which I would like to update a field in the current record. However, the field name is stored as a variable so I can't just use Me!FieldName = __
I've tried simply the following, but get a "No current record" error. why I'm getting the error, but how do I select the record currently visible in the form to edit?
Error 91 - Object variable or With block variable not set
I am getting this error telling me that an object variable is not set.
I know which variable it is but when I step through the debugger it sets the variable and all is fine? Issue is that public variable of a class is not getting set when the VBA Editor is not open?
This code runs fine the FIRST time, however trows up a message the SECOND time it is run.

I am creating a 2 level report to confirm an order. Main report already created, runs successfully called as subform/subreport under "OrderDetails" form. Linked to master using Order.ID. There are two versions of the confirmation report that have different layouts for different program types.
The hangup comes when I try to add a "Class Dates" subreport. It lists dates of individual classes and Skip dates. I have created the subreport as "srClassDates". When I add it to the main report, it lists the records. However, when I try to link it to the Main report, an error message box appears with the "object variable or With block variable not set".
I have tried rebuilding both the main and subreports, rebuilt the query, have not found anything that changes the result.
Linker has been working successfully on other subforms. Report with groupings works fine, but I need data from 2 tables both linked to order.id.
I have the following code that updates the end date to be the same as the start date after the user tabs out of the start date. Instead of making it the same date, I want it to be six days later. How do I add that?
For example, user enters 11/10/13 in the start date. I want the end date to automatically update to 11/16/2013.

i have 2 field "CLIENT ID" and "CLIENT CODE". when i post a new record, i want the "CLIENT ID" and "CLIENT CODE" to merge to give me 1 field "CLIENT". the CLIENT CODE should be prompted for eg. THO or BLT and added to the CLIENT ID which will compose of 001 or 002. The CLIENT ID should also increment when each new CLIENT record is posted.
I'm building a database to organize the editing of a massive report my office is working on. I've got a big table of all the sections. Each section has a unique ID and a version number. I wrote the queries so that they return only the most recent version (i.e. the Max version # of each section.) The results of the query appear in a subform.
I was able to use VBA to allow the user to double click on the record in the subform, and look at the record in another form. (I was really proud of this.)
Anyway, it turns out what I need is to double click on the record in the subform, and create a new record based on this record, but increment the version # by one.
I've created an unbound form for this, and googled around. I need to use VB to store the variable, and then put it in the unbound text box.
