I am trying to display an open file dialog window so that the user can pick up a file. I wish the window to show a specific folder. How can I do this? The code I am using is below. The parameter InitialFileName has no effect on the outcome.

I'm trying to automate a process of selecting a set of file/s and move them in a folder. When I click on a button, it should open a current folder that is setup in the code.
Lets say that I have a folder C:documents est, and very time I click on the button, it should open the dialog box with that path so I can select the files from another folder, drag them there and they will be saved in that folder.
This will form part of wider automation that will send an email stating that those file/s where placed in that folder.
I have in the same form where the button is placed, 3 check boxes that needs to be passed to the email as well that one or all the files where placed in the folder.

I recently upgraded a DB from 2003 to 2013 and ran into the following problem.
I have a button that opens a file dialog box and allows the user to upload a file to a predetermined location (and store the address as a hyperlink). I borrowed this code from someone else on here and modified it slightly.
In any case, the button still works, but now when it opens it doesn't have an option for "All files" under file types. So I can upload MS Office files, text files, etc., but not PDF files which are by far the most common types my users upload.
Here's my code and a screenshot is attached.

THE UPPER code is to locate the user desired folder path and name in order to do further process. However, my problem is that no matter I press <OK> or <Cancel> option in the normal MS Folder dialog box, the process still going on. Is that I miss some on error or on exit code??My idea is that when user press <OK>, the process goes on and when press <Cancel>, no process will be done!!

I used the suggested code from this forum to import a file with the open file dialog box. It works great to that point, but how do I specify which table I want it to populate with this data?? Thanks!

I have the following code which successfully opens the dialog box with filters however when I add a function with an Excel import, the filters do not work at all (no files are shown even though they exist in the directory that's opened within the dialog box). If I manually type in the filter (i.e. *.x) it still shows the files.The function at the bottom was provided by cheekybuddha from another form, I'd be lost on getting the Excel file imported into Access.Here's the VBA code (the Function is also included at bottom):

I am using MS Access 2010. I have a code that I am using that loops through a folder gather all the names of the files in the folder and inserts them into a table (shown below). The table is named "tblFiles" there are two columns in the table titled file name and file path. What I want to do is to also loop through the same folder to find the file path of the files and insert them into the file path column has a hyperlink where users can just click on the hyperlink and the file opens.

I'm currently working on a database to track and inventory documents in my organization similar to a library catalog, but with a digital archive as well. I'll need the ability to "attach" documents to records in the main inventory (though using links instead of storing it in the db) and have the documents live in a centrally accessible location on our shared server.
I will need to have this function work through a few different tables and in a few different iterations, but I'm trying to work on the simplest part first, which is attaching a thumbnail/preview of a given document to the record for that document.
I've got some VBA working well which opens the file picker and copies the file to a directory relative to the DB. It also creates a folder with each employee's ID number if it doesn't exist already (which it gets from the Windows log in) and adds "Copied_" to the front of the file.
Now I'm trying to get the VBA code to interact with the record. Presumably I need to tell the form button I'm using to launch the VBA code to pass the primary key of the record being displayed to VBA. Then, at the end of the VBA code I need to take that value and find the record again from VBA so I can update the MediaThumbnailLink in the original record.
Does this order of operations make sense? If so, how should I go about passing these values back and forth and writing the new link value?

I have 2 Comboboxes, one for Region and one for Country, and am attempting to initalize/cascade them. Here is the basic info for the the underlying tables:

regionAbbreviation (Text, PK)
regionName (Text)
regionOverseer (Text, Foreign Key...essentially a parameter)

Some relational constraints of which to be aware:
1. Every Region has at least one Country
2. Every Region has one and only one Overseer
3. An Overseer may be responsible for more than one Region
Characteristics of the Comboboxes:
1. Both use 2 columns with the Name field (first column) being displayed and the Abbreviation or Code field (second column) being the bound column.
2. The nominal case is that both comboboxes will have multiple items to select and in that case the comboboxes are initialed with a query containing a UNION that inserts the string "<ALL>" (same string in both columns).
3. When the case arises that an Overseer manages a single Region or a Region contains a single Country, the Union query is bypassed such that the "<ALL>" string is excluded.
The comboboxes are used to create a filter condition to drill down into a potentially very large recordset.Now to the issue at hand ...
The Region combobox is initialized first. The initialization is accomplished by setting the RowSource property to an appropriate query. The first entry in the item list is then loaded to the combobox Value property by the following line of code:

This always works whether there are multiple items or just one. If there is just one I set the Enabled property to FALSE; no point in reselecting the only item avaliable.The Country combobox is then initialized in a similar manner using appropriate code that is virtually identical to that used for the Region combobox.The problem I am having is that if there is only a single Country, the Name is not displayed in the combobox but is contained in the selection list. Note that i do not have a problem with the Region combobox when it is initialized with a single Region.
I have searched this forum and others and found similar inquiries and a couple of possible solutions; some clearly don't work while others appear to but result in run-time errors later in the execution of the code (run-time error '2115').I do not have a simply test case I can upload at this time; also new to the forum and appear to be restricted as to my ability to perform uploads.

I have a query that opens a listbox in a form. In the listbox I want to add a doubleclick event that opens a pdf document with the selected record in it. The record is in column 1 of the listbox.
I can't use the FollowHyperlink method of the colecction application due the record in the column is a Key. I am not sure if FollowHyperlink method can be used in a listbox
I have been checking codes in the web and I found this:

However, I don't know how to organize the code in a logic way in Sub End Sub. Neither I don't know if the code is for the doubleclic event in the list box or a Module. If is for a module I don't know how to write the code in it.
