Modules & VBA :: Loop Function Repeating First Line Of Recordset
Aug 17, 2015managed to get some code up and running but when trying to enhance it I have hit a rut.
I have a function that is looking up a query called Optimisation - Auto Optimise with operational data in it. I only need 2 key fields; consolcode and volume. There are 106 records with different consolcodes each with different volume. e.g consolcode: Chittagong to Rotterdam201452 (Chittagong to Rotterdam by year "2014" by week "52") and volume 161 (cbm)
I then run a code that allocates the volume into specific sea freight containers and returns the values into a different output table.
The allocation code works fine but when I run the loop function for the recordset rsttradelane it runs for the correct amount of records (106) but always returns the first record of Chittagong to Rotterdam201452 and 161 cbm and not the other 105 consolcodes with the different cbm. Giving me an output table with Chittagong to Rotterdam201452 and 161 cbm repeated 105 times!!

Nov 29, 2014I have a module which reads a CSV transaction file line by line and adds the correct transactions to an access table and places the wrong ones in a logfile.Now some transactions are rejected twice there is even one rejected six times. Whereas one wrong transaction is processed only once. I am certainly overlooking something obvious in the logic but what. Here is the relevant code.

Nov 18, 2014I am having a little difficulty with my importing in Access. Every time I import my text file, the lines will be jumbled. I have been reading up and I found this recordset code that seems to be what I need:

Basically, this code will extract data from the text file as long as it fulfills the Mid$ criteria. Here's where my problem comes. Each line in my text file is of different lengths and I have to capture the entire line.
I think using the Left$ function would work, but I don't know how to determine the character count such that the entire line of text would be inserted into the table.
Another difference between what I need and the code above is that, I am required to store each line into each row of my table, meaning
Line 1 is placed in Row 1 Column 1
Line 2 is placed in Row 2 Column 1
Line 3 is placed in Row 3 Column 1
.
.
.
Line X is placed in Row X Column 1.
Insert A Line Of Data In A Subform

I have a form which records computer faults reported by users. On this form there is a subform for comment tracking eg. Phoned user, Date/Time. On the next line would be; Informed user to do this, Date/Time and so on. I have a button on my form which I would like to use to automatically put in a line of data. It is an aknowlegde fault button. What it hopefully would do is when you click the button it will automatically put in the date/time in the subform, Then the word "acknowledged" in the comment field, then prompt for the user name ( for the username field).
I am not sure on how to start the command. If i were to do it in the same form then I would just put something like;
me.Date.Value = Date()
me.Comment.value = "Acknowledged"
me.Username.value = "[Prompt]"
As you can see I have two problems though;
1. The data has to be entered in a subform
2. My Prompt I dont think will work.
Does anyone have any ideas?

Nov 20, 2014I'm trying to set up a data import function as follows: The user fills out a form, generating an entry in the Orders table. After pushing a button, line item data will be imported from an excel spreadsheet. I've got most of this working- I have a temp table that gets cleared out and then populated from the excel spreadsheet which is then deleted, all working fine. My hangup is when I try and get the line item data out of the temp table. I need to append the Order unique ID from the textbox on the form to each line item. Here's the select statement part of the insert into:
SELECT Forms!frmOrder!OrderID AS OrderID, ItemsID, NumUsed
FROM tblTempOrder
This gets the line items fine, but puts an Ankh symbol as the OrderID for each line item.

Sep 5, 2013I can not get a line graph inserted into a report by using the Wizard. I have 2 columns of paired data that I want to graph. I dragged the 2 columns to the "Data" control in the wizard and changed summarizing for both columns from "sum" to "none".
When I look at the report in Print Preview, the data points are stacked vertically in the center of the graph and the "Series" box displays what looks like the data. If I add a Date/Time column as the X-axis, I am told that I have to summarize the data, something I don't want to do.
I've made various selections using the wizard and all fail.
Forms :: Go To End Of Field And Insert New Line And Date
Jan 2, 2014I have set up a customer database for our small electronics company and i have built a form called contact history. In the form i show a few details about the customer (name phone number etc) but the bulk of the form is a large text box for a contact log.I would like to have a button on the form that takes me to the contact log field, inserts todays date and allows me to update whats been said to the customer etc. I have it working using setfocus and date functions however it erases any information already in the field. Is there a way to skip to the end of the field and insert a new line, then add the date and allow me to begin typing?I would like the end result to look like the following.

Aug 8, 2014I have an issue with queries not showing sufficient decimal points, even though the underlying table does have the formatting I desire.
If I open Table 1 directly, for Field 1 I have a value of 0.1439254445378153860918842318 using a format of decimal / fixed / Precision: 18 / Scale: 0 / Decimal: 2 and it shows in the table as 0.14 until I click on the cell in which case I get the full value above.
This is how I want it to show (0.14). When I run a query on this table, not setting any formats in the query, I get 0.00, and clicking on the cell only provides a result of 0. I've tried a ton of different underlying formats on Table 1, and been unable to get a different result...

If i simply remove the GROUP BY line and stick the semicolon at the end of the previous line (.EmpID; ) it works just fine. How is adding a group by line causing an error?I tried adding another parenthes at the beginning ((( and ending the joins as EmpID); and that failed with the exact same error.

Jun 5, 2014I have a main form with 3 sub forms. The main form is tied to a table called QUOTES_MASTER. The first sub form is tied to a table called QUOTE_ LINE_ ITEMS_DIRTGLUE. It calculates the subtotal when selecting items. The relationship is one-to-many linked on QUOTE_ID.
The second sub form adds up total of all line items and is not tied to a table.The third sub form adds ESTIMATED FREIGHT to the PRODUCT TOTAL and is not tied to a table. how to get the values from the line items form inserted into the QUOTE_LINE_ITEMS_DIRTGLUE table as they are added.
I also want to insert the total value from ESTIMATED DELIVERED into the LINE_TOTALS field in the table QUOTES_MASTER.I tried this code on the product total sub form but it doesn't do anything and there are no errors:

Carry Certain Data From 3 Forms To One Printable Form
Nov 10, 2005is there any way to carry specific data entered by the user from 3 forms to one printable form which is set up like a city permit? ideally, i'd like the user to be able to click on a button to open the permit & then click print after having entered all the data into the 3 forms (1st form opens 2nd; 2nd opens 3rd).
ie - a contractor comes in & applies for a permit, the user (permit clerk) enters all the contractor's info into form 1 then clicks permit & enters the info for that specific permit (there are 4 types) into form 2, then clicks payment & enters check #, fee, etc. into form 3. the permit should now be issued but only needs to have permit #, contractor name, date, location, & amount paid on it. is this possible? i've tried building a query to base a report on with the with that info but am not gettin the results i want, and i don't know how to have a report display only one permit at a time. plus, my users don't want to have to run a query & then print a report. they just want to click print after entering the data (they're very lazy, set in their ways, and not very computer literate). please excuse my dumbness but the whole application is up & running except for this last part.:o please help! thanx in advance.

Aug 24, 2013I have a table in MS Access naming "Salutation" and in the table I have 6 columns and each column named as Week No., Carry Forward records, new records, total records, processed records and pending records. Like below

So now the requirement is every day pending records should get updated in the next row with in the same table under carry forward records of its next immediate day. For e.g. pending records of week number 1 which is 5 should get updated under carry forward records for week number 2 and so on.
Modules & VBA :: Duplicate Line When Printing Report
Sep 5, 2014My issue is when there are 4 records (store numbers) for any "row" on the load diagram, the last store's information is duplicated when the report is printed. It only appears once in the table, it only appears once in the query, but when the report prints it prints two lines. It also does not include the duplicate line in the totals at the bottom of the report. This leads me to believe that the issue is in my PrintLines function which is in the modPrintLoadDiagram but I am only a beginner when writing code and have not been able to figure it out on my own.
I am attaching a version of the original database. Please open rptLoadDiagram in Print Preview and look at row 3 on the right side. Store 5449 is showing up twice but should only be on there one time.
This is the only issue holding up my roll out of the database.

Oct 10, 2014When I build the statement I want to email and view it in a MsgBox the lines space correctly with the code vbCrLf.However when I send that text out as the body of the email, the spacing is no longer there and its just one big pile of nonsenses. In the MsgBox I see it correctly as:
