I'm developing an Invoicing database (which I've attached a sanitized copy) where I'd like to have an invoice number combo box show only invoices relevant to the client previously selected in the client name combo box.

I downloaded an example from Microsoft's templates website (which I've also attached), and I thought this would be a simple task.

I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong, but I figure it's something simple.

I'd prefer to use vba; I really don't want to use macros.

Cascading/Synchronized Combo Boxes

Hi, I'm working on a lengthy program and have had a request to simplify combo box choices for the end user. We have 3 boxes to work with : Division, Department, & Unit. The objective is to limit the Departmental choices dependent upon what was first chosen in Division. Likewise in Unit : Department. Any ideas on how to do this?

I have searched on internet for the method of synchronizing two combo boxes in a form based on Update Event. The problem was solved partially with this video : (link is not posted due to lesser number of posts. But it can be found on net, it's title is "Synchronizing Combo Boxes on Forms in Access 2007 " from Office Developer Centre.

When I followed the instructions in the video, it works but showed only the ID numbers of the categories in the first combobox. and the corresponding products in the second combo. Why cant I see the names of the categories? In the video, the names are visible in combo, I followed the same code but instead of names, IDs are shown.

I have a simple database at the moment which I would like to put onto two laptops. The laptops would be used for entering information when out on a job (no network or email connection).

What I would want to do is have a database on a desktop in the office so when the laptops come back into the office they can update the office database with the information on the laptop database.

I need to create a user form that has a dropdown box which I can select a student from one of these tables with a number of text boxes below which brings up all the students details, then once the student has been selected and the correct details are shown then I need to create a button which allows me to move that student from one table to another.

Using Up Blank Records In Invoicing Database

I have written an invoicing module for my program and some users in the office are dirtying a record and then leaving the module without completing the invoice. (This leaves behind an almost blank record with a period in one field or a space, etc). When someone else starts an invoice from another workstation it skips this almost blank invoice and starts a new one, skipping the almost blank one. Is there a way to check for these orphans automatically before using another invoice number. This happens once or twice a day so it is of concern to my bookkeeper who checks the sequence of invoices to make sure none are missing before posting them to the accounting program.

What's The Best Way To Add A Record To A Normalized Database Utilizing Combo Boxes?

I have four tables with unique records as shown below. I'd like to add a record for a new item to the database by selecting the values from combo boxes for Supplier, Item and Unit. If the values do not exist the user would then type in a new value. SuppliersItemCode and Cost would always be new values. What's the best way to go about this? I am unsure how to add a record to a normalized database where you sometimes have to use / reference existing unique values in multiple tables via foreign keys for the new record.

The logic of the form would be:

1. Select existing or add new Supplier.
2. Select existing or add new Item.
3. Select existing or add new Unit.
4. Enter new SuppliersItemCode
5. Enter Cost

My question is on my input form I want to have the user/employee pick his name once in a header combo box as-well as the week ending date and have it populate to every new record that user input (each employee can charge to multiple projects in a week so I want to eliminate the need for them to pick their name and week ending date everytime they select a different job charge.)

I have a sub form that I enter date range in 2 text box's txtstartdate and txtenddate this is filtering field "date raised" and I have combo box call cboclient this is filtering field "client name" this code is behind a command button after hitting the command button it open's the report and it show's all records with in the date range and with client name enter in cboclient works great. problem is I have now added another cboclient2 to filter client name twice so now I enter a date range in txtstartdate and txtenddate put a client name in cboclient and a client name in cbocleint2 hit command button it open's the report but doesn't apply the date range to cboclient2 it just show's all records with that client name

I'm attempting to filter my form with combo boxes. I've added the below code, but the if statement that checks if one of the combo boxes is null won't work. If the combo box is null or "", it's supposed to assign a wildcard to the variable. But it doesn't pass the test and goes straight to the Else statement. I've highlighted the if statement that keeps failing in red.

I have a form designed to update content on a website. I'm trying to work out how to populate fields with entries from past dates.

I have set up two combo boxes for each 'spot' on the site, one for date: Feature_1_Date and one for which content spot the content was occupying Feature_1_Spot.

The idea being that these boxes would read the row from my table to find the date, and the column to find which spot the content did occupy to copy the same content into a field Feature_1_Content

From what I can gather I need to use DLOOKUP (I'm very familiar with VLOOKUP on excel) but I'm doing something very wrong as can't get it to show any content.

My company is finally using my accounts package (alongside our original package until we can be certain there are no bugs).

Anyway just adding nice to have features at the moment.

I've got a form that has 5 combo boxes where the user can select 5 customers. Then a button so they can graph the amount of money generated by each customer and compare them.

I've just made a query to return the top 5 highest grossing customers.

What I what to do now it feed the query results into the combobox values when I press a new button on my form.

How do I go about this?

I have two tables,

tbl_Retainer
tbl_Retainer_Grant_Funding
tbl_Retainer has the field,
Retainer_ID

And tbl_Retainer_Grant_Funding has the fields,
Retainer_ID (a lookup field from tbl_Retainer)
Agreement_Num (a lookup field from tbl_Grant)

I have a form based off of a query(not sure if that matters), that uses that tables, tbl_Assignment and tbl_Assignment_Grant_Funding. These tables have the above fields as lookup fields.

So...what happens is, if an Assignment has a Retainer, I want the Agreement_Num box to show only the Agreement_Num's associated with that Retainer, otherwise just show all the Agreement Num's.

In my form, I have Retainer_ID with the row source,
SELECT tbl_RETAINER.Retainer_ID FROM tbl_RETAINER;

And Agreement_Num with the row source,
SELECT [tbl_GRANT].Grant_ID, [tbl_GRANT].Agreement_Num FROM tbl_GRANT ORDER BY [Agreement_Num];

In my AfterUpdate event for Retainer_ID I have,

I have three nested forms that is Form3 is withing Form2 that is within Form1 (in reality = 1 Form and 2 subforms cascaded).

I want to select a value from Combo1, that will further brings the values in Form2, and then further filter the values in Form3. If the three combos were on the same form, I wouldn't have an issue. But since each combo is in every cascading form/subform, I dont know how to pass the filterning further to the other two combos.

General :: Auto Populated Text Boxes To Display Rows From Combo Boxes

I have strange issue when creating auto populated text boxes which displays rows from combo boxes.

In one database auto populates works with simple text box Control Source edit "=[ComboName].[Column](NumberOfColumn)".

Somehow same method doesn't wotk in different database: here one time I have to insert VBA code at On change Event:

Me.TextBoxName = Me.ComboName.Column(NumberOfColumn)

And other time it wont work with On change but only with After Update Event (code is same).

Another thing this morning happens was that when I tried to add new record trough form where combo box and tex boxes are located, MS Office suddenly stopped working after selecting combo box selection (with message Microsoft Office has Stopped Working). It is 2013 version.

I got it work after deleting and re-inserting VBA code to autopopulate text box at After Update Event.

3. TeailNumber (text box) from tblAircraftOperators

I am trying to get the listbox in the second tab of the results section to work. I have a form with about 50 fields and most of them need to be converted to combo boxes. I'd always done it manually one at a time up to this point, but I'm trying to build up my learning and look for smarter ways to do things.

I am trying to make a search option in my form header. Right now I have two unbound combo boxes (CboAccountsfilter and cboCourseName) that I can use to filter my records. Currently, I can use the drop down for CboAccountsfilter and a list of accounts will appear. When I select one, the corresponding Course Names will appear in cboCourseName. This works fine...Code below. I would like to take the filtering a step farther and add checkboxes to filter the data. I my form, there currently exist several check boxes (yes/no)...(Priority, Rep Top Target, Manager Top Target, ect). I would like to have the option to use a check box to filter. I.E if I had a checkbox in my header called PriorityFilter, if checked it would only bring up those records that met the two combo boxes criteria and was a priority.

Below is the code I have so far...it doesnt have anything for the checkbox because I am at a lost of how to get started.

Invoicing Sums

I have a report that is broken up by invoice number. I want to create a text box that will sum the lines for each invoice number. I have the text box set to add the lines, but currently it is grabbing the first value for each multiple line invoice. Confusing, I know. See below:

Invoice number Date Amount
123456789 5/23/05 23,100.00
123456789 5/23/05 1,000.00
Amount: 23,100.00 <--- I can get this to = the first line for each invoice number but not total (should = 24,100.00)

Invoice number Date Amount
987654321 5/24/05 525.69
Amount: 525.69

Totalling Invoicing

I am trying to have access total a number of invoices for one project to show the total amount invoiced for that project. I would like to have this number displayed in a form so as I enter dollar amounts, the number goes up automatically.

Tables :: Creating A Unique Invoicing Number?

What I have is a small POS system I'm trying to create a unique invoice number for each transaction (multiple records)

I have two tables, one named "CurrentTransactions" and one named "Past Transactions".

I have everything working except the invoice number my system works by adding pre defined records into the table "CurrentTransactions" and once the sale has been finalised it transfers the data to the "PastTransactions" table.

take the last number from the "PastTransactions"."InvoiceNumber" to create an invoice number in the "CurrentTransactions", and I want to be able to do it using an expression in the default value property as opposed to in the form ( I've tried the form way but using Dmax would require me to almost rebuild my entire POS system )

Combo Boxes / Text Boxes

Hi guys, I have a related databes with about 20 tables.

My main table stores the data linking with most of the other tables. This main table stores football match records with player line ups. Initially I had a problem linking the 11 player fields in the main table to the player table, Icould only do it with 1, so someone at work suggested to link it using the lookup function. This worked brilliantly. However, now I am designing a GUI with forms but the forms have combo boxes where the lookup function was used and when i change these to text boxes, the players names are replaced with their ID numbers.

Is there any way of creating the form without the unsightly combo boxes, as they won't be needed, the GUI will be read-only. I look forward to your help!!
