Table B contains columns like 1FC, 2FC,...., 12 FC
standing for forecast sale quantities.
Now I want the user to decide how many FC columns he wants, always starting with 1FC.Let's say he wants three FC columns. Now I want to map these 3 FC columns to the table A. Both tables contain column Product_Classes.Can I shrink table B to the 3 FC columns ?
I have 120 tables, each with the same name except 2 identifying characters at the end eg pc_dist_ab, pc_dist_al Each table currentnly has 3 columns. I would like to be able to add 2 additonal columns to each table with one query and was hoping an alter table query where the table name matches pattern would have worked but evidently not.
Is there a way to build some sort of dynamic query to add extra columns to these different tables at the same time?
To save another post I guess Once this is done I would then like to create 1 main table by creating a new table and appending all the files together- again I would prefer to be able to run this once.
I'd appreciate any help/thoughts as to whether this can be done? Thanks
I need to extract the value only for few columns dynamically from result set. I have written following code for the same:
Code: i = 0 strColumnsSQL = "Week" & CStr(gsReportingWeekNo) Do While i < 4 i = i + 1 strColumnsSQL = strColumnsSQL & ",Week" & CStr(gsReportingWeekNo) - i Loop
I coulnt figure out how to reply to a reply. This is a follow up question to a previous post.
I can now create a new column in my access db through my web form.
Here is the script: ALTER TABLE FAQ ADD City varchar(30)
this adds a new column called city. Here is my problem: Every time a user asks a question, that question will be in the new column created. I need the newly created columns to have unique names. I tried creating a form with a text file (to simulate where they type in their question) then post to post.asp. post.asp holds the script. I replaced city with ::T1:: (the variable of the text file), but got an error.
Creating columns dynamically is worthless unless there is a way to make the column names unique.
Can anyone shed some light on this problem for me?
I have a report with many columns in the detail listing data, and their associated titles above in the page header. What I would like to accomplish is the ability for the user to check boxes off on a form which will remove/add specific columns to the report. The form will essentially be a "build your report" style, with a button on it opening the print preview of the custom report.
Im assuming this is accomplished by the "on load" part of the form through VBA. How is the sizing handled? If the user un-check's a box to remove a column of data, how is the header and detail data "moved over" or re-arranged to accomplish a relatively decent looking layout? Any example or example code to deal with one column/setup (which I can copy and modified)??
I was able to use the UNION ALL qry. But, when I have another file (like original2) that does NOT have all the columns listed in the UNION ALL qry, I get a Parameter value box asking for the missing columns when I run the qry.
original 2IDDateGroupChristianJohnny18/6/2013A212528/6/2013B2338/6/2013C2248/6/2013D22
The UNION ALL qry includes all the possible resources ( includes all the possible column fields Christan, Johnny, and Steve).
When I run the UNION ALL qry with the original2 file, An "Enter Parameter Value" box is displayed with the mssing column name "Steve".
Is there a way to Map the original2 table into a working table with all the columns, or use VBA code to construct the UNION ALL qry to only include the existing columns? My data has variable columns and I'm trying to avoid the parameter popups.
I have been spending all my today to fill a combobox dynamically, but have not been able yet.
I have a combobox and a pass-through query in access, which is working fine and fill the details into the combobox via data source. Now what I am planning to do is to update the combobox source as soon as value in a text box changes.
here is the code I am using, but it is not working:
Dim rs As Recordset Dim qDef As QueryDef Set qDef = CurrentDb.QueryDefs("get_data") qDef.SQL = "SELECT Initial + ' (' + Name + ')' uws FROM EM.dbo.UW" _ & " WHERE lob = '" & addSingleQuotation(Me.CMB_LOB.Value) & "'"
Me.cmbUM.RowSource = qDef.SQL Me.cmbUM.Requery
I also used Recordset, but did not work:
Set rs = CurrentDb.OpenRecordset("get_data") Me.cmbUM.RowSource = rs!uws
I'm trying to find some code to allow a datasheet form to link to a csv file.I'd like the link to the data to be dynamic so it connects when the form loads as the access database will be run from a network share by multiple people at the same time.
The CSV file will be different for each user and reside on their local PCs in their profile folders.
I've been trying variations of this snippet of code I found which is called On Form Load:
Code: Public Sub getData(path As String, fileName As String) Dim cN As ADODB.Connection Dim RS As ADODB.Recordset Set c N = New ADODB.Connection Set RS = New ADODB.Recordset
[code]...
setting up and connecting ADO data sources to a form.
I want a search box on my db that will locate data from certain fields within my database. Today i came across the posting by John Big Booty with the above title and what he has done is exactly what i require.
Now i have followed all instructions to the letter however i keep getting an error which i have attached ......
I'm looking to use the shell function to dynamically call different pdfs that are in a directory. However I'm getting run time error 5 "Invalid procedure or call argument".
Here is the code (very basic I know)..
Private Sub Liste_Documentation_DblClick(Cancel As Integer) Dim PathName As String PathName = Me.Liste_Documentation.Column(2) ' Debug.Print PathName Shell PathName End Sub
A typical filepath name is as follows..
S:VenteVendeursMarcCRMDOCSDiligences KYC - LABFT - V 2013 04 23.pdf
I am trying to add a feature in my database dashboard that shows a list of hyperlinks that are the most frequently used forms and reports based upon the user. I can figure out how to capture the event each time the form or report is opened and update a record to increase the count, and build a recordset that will query the table filtering by user and order by frequency...
However, I am stuck on building the hyperlinks that will point to the correct form or reports dynamically.
Specifically, I am not able to update the subaddress using VBA. I get an error that the hyperlink cannot follow to the new form...
Here is my code:
Code: Private Sub Form_Load() Dim strUser As String Dim strApp As String strUser = Environ("username") strApp = "frmTest1" Me.txtUser = strUser Me.txtLink3 = strApp Me.txtLink1 = strApp Me.hypTest.Hyperlink.SubAddress = strApp End Sub
I have an access table and I want the code that will check two columns in the table "EnvelopeType" and "EnvelopeSize" and create headers in Excelsheet automatically. In the attached workbook, like in sheet1 the headers are already appeared, I want this to be done dynamically using vba code so that if new values get inserted in EnvelopeType and EnvelopeSize then we won't have to change the code to display more headers.
Please see attached workbook named Sample and Access table. E.g.
EnvelopeType EnvelopeSize TNT 2nd Class C5 PP1 2nd Class C5 PPI 1st Class A4 Recorded A4 TNT 2nd Class C5 PP1 2nd Class C5 Recorded A4 PPI 1st Class A4 Recorded C5
With the code it should display following headers in excel sheet:
TNT 2nd Class C5 PP1 2nd Class C5 PPI 1st Class A4 Recorded A4 Recorded C5
I have the following example of code I have previously used which loops through columns where a column is called "Page1", "Page2", Etc.This is fine when the number of columns is fairly small. But in a new case I have 585 250 columns which may or may not contain some data which is the key.If data exists in column do something and after that or of not move to the next column and do the same thing until there are no more columns?
Code: Dim rst As DAO.Recordset ' recordset for category data ' open the recordset for categories Set rst = CurrentDb.QueryDefs!QryRMA.OpenRecordset ' loop through the rows in the recordset rst.MoveFirst Do Until rst.EOF
Is there any way to 'Export' the selected column (user selected columns) as CSV. I have attached a mockup (screenshot) that gives a clear thought about the scenario. The 'User' will be able to select the 'Columns' for the export of 'tblInventory' and by clicking 'Export as CSV' button will export the 'Selected' columns as CSV.
There are around 100,000 records to update. Would a SQL Statement be more efficient?
It is a local table being used to sum up the results of a handful of rules. The columns can only hold True or False (datatype) If and only if all columns are True - then true
MyRow T T T T T T T T T T - Sum in next column is T MyRow T T T T T T F T T T - Sum in next column is F
Speed is very important. The Recordset for a single row is still open on the Currrent Record since the Update just finished.
Code: RS_RE_1SegStatusProfiled.Fields("Total") = (RS_RE_1SegStatusProfiled.Fields("RE_1") AND CStr(RS_RE_1SegStatusProfiled.Fields("RE_2") AND (RS_RE_1SegStatusProfiled.Fields("RE_3") ' and so on
My guess is that since the recordset is open to the current record on a local table, it will be efficient to just re-read all of the values and And them together.
Since I have code writing to each record, I could also go through all the extra assignment of a local variable.
I have an imported table and within this table contains a column that needs to be further delimited. I've read that it is possible to delimit columns using the left, right and mid functions, however, I need to delimit it to more than 3 columns. Maybe an estimated 6.
Examples of the data contained in the column are as follow: ITM~W01GGASPAPP1B:W6400~12.34.56.78~~W01GGASPAPP1B ~W01GGASPAPP1B~ACK~
I need to delimit it by "~". It must also be similar to Excel's text-to-column feature whereby if there're no values between 2 "~", it will be recorded as null.
The main thing I require from each record in the column is contained within the first and second "~" (even if it's null).
This query returns a running asset balance for 60 months. Each month is 1 column.
1) I need to create a query based on those results that can cycle through each column and determine if it is NEGATIVE. Then if it is negative, I need to perform some math on it to determine how to get it back up to being positive.
2) I need to loop through X columns based on the assets lead time. Each lead time varies and I have a master table that contains it. So if the assets lead time is 3 months, I need it to move over 3 columns and return that value. If it is 6 months then I need it to return the value in the 6th column.
I am trying to change the data in my rows to columns...I have data as per the attached picture in columns B-I...I would like the rows to be pasted to columns as per columns M-Q...so row 1 ends up as the first lost of data in M-Q and row 2 ends up as the second lot of data. There are numerous rows in my actual file.
I have a table in a database with 7 columns. The data is sorted by Date1 in descending order.
For each pid I want to put the sequence numbers First record has two conditions If string 2 is null then start numbering from sequence1 If string 2 is not null then start numbering from sequence2 If string 2 = string1 then Sequence1 = 0 Second record has two conditions Number sequence2 with the value 2 or 3 depending on the line one If string 2 = string1 then Sequence1 = 0 Else Sequence1 = next number Same condition for the rest of records
I have 2 tables and 1 query. Table dbo_RepOrderItem includes columns:
RepId OrderNumber Item ShipDate SerialCardID
Table tbl_LBP Sales Location Num includes columns:
Location ID Rep Region Code
What I've been doing so far through my code is working through a query 'CalculateTotal' which looks up a structure number (Which I enter through an InputBox) from table dbo_RoicStructure, gets the SerialCardID from the same table and collects the associated RepId,OrderNumber,ShipDate from table dbo_RepOrderItem and checks that the OrderNumber(s) returned exist in column Location ID in table tbl_LBP Sales Location Num. It also checks that Rep Region Code is not equal to 'INT' nor 'inte'.
My code for all of this works just fine. What I am trying to do now is simplify my results. I want to only return rows that do not have the same Item, OrderNumber, and RepID.
It would now count 5 existing RepID(s) rather than 6 because it would have deleted the duplicated row. This should only be deleted in the user's table not the actual table.
And speaking of the user's table. What I have been doing so far is only returning the results (right now it returns 6, which as I explained above is incorrect) but I also want to return a table or query that would should the user the work behind the returned number.
This is my code:
Option Compare Database Option Explicit Sub SearchPartNumber_Entered() Dim txtPartNumber As Variant Dim rst As Recordset Dim rstt As Recordset Dim u As Variant
I'm writing to an excel file from two separate Access tables, for which I'm using two separate DAO.Recordsets in VBA.The first table has 190 columns, the second table has more than 66 columns, so more than 256 columns will be written to the excel file.So I'm not expecting any error due to any maximum of 256 columns, but still I'm getting an error while trying to populate the 257th excel-column:
Run-time error '1004': Application-defined or object-defined error.(The same VBA works fine when I use another table with less columns.)Even more strange: on another computer I did not get the error and I was able to populate more than 256 excel-columns.
Code:
Option Compare Database Option Explicit Dim xlApp As Excel.Application Dim xlWkb As Excel.Workbook Dim xlWks As Excel.Worksheet Dim FileNameOut As String Dim RowNr As Long Dim ColNr As Long
Im trying to export a query to specific columns in excel and im using this code.
Code:
Dim objXL As Object Dim xlWB As Object Dim xlWS As Object
[Code].....
I tried it on other querys and it works but doesn't work on this specific one. I get an error on the "set rst = currentDb" line. And to my knowledge it doesn't work because I have a between two dates filter in it. So when I run it, I get an error saying I have too few parameters, expecting 2.
Also it seems to be exporting the lookup id's not the value when exporting(on the query that it did work on)
I need to add two additional columns for each imported spreadsheet, which are not in the original files.
First column, named 'Customer Name', needs to retrieve information from cell A6 in Excel file, which is not part of range "name" that is imported to Access. If necessary, I could somehow include it in this range but then I still would have a problem of how to repeat a value of A6 in each row of table in Access.
Second column, named "File Name", I would like to include an Excel file name from which data was imported. Again, I would like to repeat value for each row in the table, i.e. if I have 6 rows with data from file X, I would like to repeat X.xlsx in each row in column "File Name".
Code: Dim strFile As String DoCmd.SetWarnings False DoCmd.RunSQL "DELETE * FROM Data;" ' Set file directory for files to be imported strPath = "C: est"
I am trying to split a number sequence (Ex. 25372-400-E10-0000-D0021) Where the third number in the sequence can be either 2 or 3 numbers/letters.
The idea is to have a query that will split this number into its individual parts. I have seen several forums about splitting two numbers and such but I can't seem to make that work when I need to create 5 columns from this one field.
