Hi all, I have an Access 2002 (SP3) frontend and SQL 2000 (SP3a) backend. 2 sites, 2 SQL servers ( identical hardware and software). Replication using Push Merge every 5 minutes.
10 users at 1 site and 15 at the other with Access 2002 frontend stored locally on each users PC.
I get random 'object invalid or no longer set' messages just appearing on the workstation screen without the operator doing anything. about 3 or 4 a week, but not on the same workstation at 1 of the sites only, but only during the working hours of the other site. We have out of hours users who never experience this issue.
Occasionally the error is preceeded by a SQL ODBC connectivity error but this rare.
I had been informed it was network issue but I have been running continuous ping from a suspect workstation to the sql server and back. When the error occurs there are NO dropouts in the pings.
It doesn't follow volume of data changes either as one site can make hundreds of changes and we don't get the error and then it can be after 10 changes the error occurs.
I have been researching this now for about 2 weeks to no avail, if anyone can point me in the direction of good resources you will make my year. :D
Access 2013...Code that has been working is suddenly causing the error "Object invalid or no longer set". Line causing the error is marked.
Code: Private Sub CreateTable() Dim dbsDb As dao.Database Dim tblTemp As dao.TableDef Dim fldTemp As dao.Field Dim rst As dao.Recordset Dim rstRsF As dao.Recordset
I have a macro run from an autokey (F12) that uses SendTo to send the current report that's on screen to an email as an attachment. This has been working perfectly for years and all of a sudden when I hit the F12 key I get: The Object Type argument for the action or method is blank or invalid. It's fine to just right click the report and use Send To but this is a pain for my users who just want to hit F12 as before.
I am getting the following error when I run my report:
"The Object type argument for the action or method is blank or invalid"
I am running the following code from a report.
Thanks
Private Sub Report_Open(Cancel As Integer) Dim intRetValue As Integer intRetValue = MsgBox("CREATE EXCEL SPREADSHEET?", vbYesNo)
cswSetReportOptions MsgBox "cswSetReportOptions complete" 'mac - new record source to filter blank company name Me.RecordSource = "SELECT * FROM qry2 WHERE strCompanyName <> """" "
If intRetValue = vbYes Then MsgBox "Creating excel spreadsheet" DoCmd.OutputTo acOutputReport, , acFormatXLS, "Book1.xls", True DoCmd.Close End If MsgBox "Creating Access Report" End Sub
Private Sub Form_Current() Dim strTime As String Dim strHour As String Dim strMinute As String If (CollectionTime.Value) = "" Then MsgBox CollectionTime
I have a form that has a subform on it. The main form shows a category of furniture and has custom navigation buttons and a search text box for asset numbers and command button that runs the search. The subform shows the asset numbers associated with that furniture category, sometimes there is only one asset number, in other cases there could be 60. There is a scroll bar to scroll through the asset numbers when there are too many to see in the initial window.
The buttons all work as they should except when I search for an asset number that is part of a category that has too many asset numbers to show in the main window. When this happens the "previous" and "next" navigation buttons do not take you to the previous or next record. All of the other buttons on the form work though - you can go to the first, or the last record, and you can search for a new asset. This is the code for the search:
Code:
Private Sub cmdAssetSearch_Click() Dim rs As Object If IsNull(Me.TextAsset) Or Me.TextAsset = "" Then MsgBox "Please type in an asset number to search for.", vbOKOnly Me.TextAsset.SetFocus
[code]....
I've also attached a picture of what I mean when I say there are more asset numbers than what the window shows.
The basic idea is that I need to insert a record into a table and then return the Key field so that I can use it to populate another table. This was working just fine for a while, then it stopped and naturally I can't think of anything I did to make it not work. I get an Invalid Use of Null error at the bolded step.
Dim SQL As String Dim SpecID As Long Dim VerifySpec As Variant ' Check for empty strings If Len(Me.txtNewPartNumber & vbNullString) = 0 Then Response = MsgBox("Part Number cannot be blank.", vbExclamation, "Missing Data") Exit Sub End If
I have a program that has been working for a year or so, it imports records form a text file created by a web site. Someone has entered a hex("1A", "A8" in a name field. It is shutting my program down. I tried a alphanumeric check to replace it and a length check to try and skip the record but the program thinks it is at the end of the file and quits reading records. Is there a way to get rid of characters like this in vba?
"5407 MUYF3I23 GIS..LE "
Here is what I have tried
Code: If Len(strread) <> 591 Then MsgBox "Invalid Record Read " & strread GoTo Skip_Loop End If If AlphaNumeric(CStr(Trim(Mid(strread, 32, 11)))) Then !HT_FName = CStr(Trim(Mid(strread, 32, 11)))
I use access occasionally . How to find out why the Invalid Qualifier error keeps occuring. This is the code, and I've highlighted the line where it says its invalid qualifier:
Private Sub BtnAddBooking_Click() Dim CustomerID As String Dim StaffID As String Dim intPos As Integer Dim strSQL As String
main - [Welders fm], 2nd level - [PipingQualificationTickets tbl Subform] 3rd level - [WelderWps fm] This is a pop up form but is related to the 2nd level formVBA Error
I have a dropdown box [Wps] (3rd Level PopUp) with an after update function to lookup a query [DLookUpWeldWPS Qy] and insert the text into [Wps(s)QualifiedFor] on the 2 level [PipingQualificationTickets tbl Subform]
Code: Public Sub AppendClause(Clauses() As String, Item As CheckBox, Column As String) Select Case True Case IsNull(Item.Value) Return Case (Item.Value = -1) Clauses.Append ("'" + Column + "'" + "=true") Case (Item.Value = 0) Clauses.Append ("'" + Column + "'" + "=false") End Select End Sub
The problem I'm having is that Clauses.Append causes a "Invalid Qualifier" error to happen. I know that error means it doesn't recognize anything within scope that has that name.. But I'm obviously defining it in the parameters.
I have a form with a button to print preview a report. This report needs one input parameter before executing. The computer this will run on is a touch screen and does not have a keyboard. Windows 7 has a "on screen keyboard" program. I want this to run first so that my user can input the parameter.
I have the following which throws an "Invalid procedure Call or Argument"
Sub CallTeclado() Dim RetVal RetVal = Shell("c:windowssystem32osk.exe", vbNormalNoFocus) End Sub
The following code works fine until it gets to last record, then it give me Error # 94 Invalid use of null. I have searched all of my code and null is not in the code.
Code: '-------------------------------------------------------- ' Goes to next record '--------------------------------------------------------- Private Sub cmdNext_Click() On Error GoTo err_handler ' DoCmd.GoToControl (txtNameL) ' DoCmd.GoToRecord , , acNext
I am using the following code (Sendobject) to create a PDF of a report and send it via email to a customer's email address.
Private Sub EmailWorkOrderQuote_Click() On Error GoTo Err_EmailWorkOrderQuote_Click Dim stDocName As String Dim mFilename As String Dim mEmailAddress As String
[Code] ....
It works fine except that the I want to to able to utilize the ability to send the email with either both the CC and BCC or either or neither as well.
I have a table called "My Company Information" that contains the email addresses for the CC and BCC. If I have values in these fields, everything works great! If I have no values in either of these fields, I get "Invalid use of Null"....
I want to be able to use either both CC and BCC, either CC or BCC, or neither used and it still work.
Connecting Access FE to SQL SERVER BE Connection is fine. I can open and close it and other queries work fine. I have only one problem with the SQL in one query
Code: With rstRPT If FirstRecord = True Then .Open "SELECT Min([" & SourceTbl & "].[3Order ID]) AS MinOf3OrderID " & _
[Code].....
why it wants to see the variable as a column name?
I'm developing an application where I want to call the keyboard up on the screen when a user enters a field. This is my setup:
Windows 8.1 32 Bit, Access Runtime 2010. Exact lines of code are:
Dim RetVal RetVal = Shell("C:Program FilesCommon Filesmicrosoft sharedinkTabTip.exe")
These lines of code work perfectly fine on my development PC which is running Windows 7 64 bit, Access/Office 32 bit.
I know the path to the exe is good. I can navigate and double click it and it works great. but the shell command is resulting in the invalid procedure.
i have these code to auto generate member number but the highlighted line generate error 94 - invalid use of NULL:
Private Sub cmdGetNumb_Click() 'On click of button a new Member Number is generated and 'focus is moved to tFName field. Me![nMembNum] = NewMembNum() Me![tFName].SetFocus 'Prevent accidental click Me![cmdGetNumb].Enabled = False
I am trying to clear a textbox after the user enters an invalid date and I do not know why the following code is not working:
Private Sub txtStart_AfterUpdate() If Not IsNull(Me.txtStart) Then If Not IsDate(Me.txtStart) Then MsgBox "You have not entered a valid date" Me.txtStart = Null Me.txtStart.SetFocus End If End If End Sub
I found this code on a website that uses a form to search all tables in my database. Problem is that when I click "search" I get an invalid argument error. I am guessing that there is a problem with my SQL string. Missing space? Missing quotation marks? etc etc.... Anyway, here is the code:
Dim tdf As DAO.TableDef Dim fld As DAO.Field Dim rs As DAO.Recordset Dim strSearch As String Dim strTableName As String
I am struggling trying to execute a function inside a Form_current event to display some stats.
The Function is this:
Code: Function FlightsByAircraft(Aircraft As Long) As Long Dim rst As DAO.Recordset Dim dbs As DAO.Database Dim str As String str = "SELECT * FROM tblFlights WHERE AircraftID = " & Aircraft
[Code] ....
The code for the Form_Current event is this:
Private Sub Form_Current() txtStats1 = FlightsByAircraft(Me.AircraftID)
Very simple. Well, the problem is when I move to a new record, a error message comes up: "Run-time error '94' - Invalid use of Null". It is because the AircraftID is not populated at that time. I tried to insert in the function code something like that:
Code: If IsNull(Aircraft) then exit function else .... (the DAO.Recordset code)
I am just in the middle of writting a little bit of code that will go through each record in a query and export it into a word table. It's in the early stages but all was working yesterday. I've come to it this morning and ran it and now I get an error message;Run Time error 91: Object Variable or With Block Variable not set.
Code:
Private Sub Command15_Click() Dim MyDb As DAO.Database Dim rsLogin As DAO.Recordset Dim ObjHead As String Set MyDb = CurrentDb() Set rsLogin = MyDb.OpenRecordset("query here")
