Modules & VBA :: Open Specific Powerpoint File That Matches A Selection On Access Form
May 27, 2015
We have an access database which has a form that has a list box that details particular records. See attach "list box".
What I would like to do is double click on the record and this would look in a powerpoint folder (see attach "path") and open the presentation if there is a match to the value in Listbox Column 5 i.e. Tool Number.
I can get it to open the presentation if I include the tool number in the path but I cannot seem to be able to get it to compare the values and only open if there is a match.
I recently upgraded a DB from 2003 to 2013 and ran into the following problem.
I have a button that opens a file dialog box and allows the user to upload a file to a predetermined location (and store the address as a hyperlink). I borrowed this code from someone else on here and modified it slightly.
In any case, the button still works, but now when it opens it doesn't have an option for "All files" under file types. So I can upload MS Office files, text files, etc., but not PDF files which are by far the most common types my users upload.
Here's my code and a screenshot is attached.
Private Sub Command35_Click() Dim dd As Integer Dim fileDump As FileDialog Set fileDump = Application.FileDialog(msoFileDialogOpen) dd = fileDump.Show
I would like to know if there is any code to view existing Powerpoint presentations in an Access 2010 form . I am creating a library and would like to set this up. I would need step by step info as I am a beginner. I have seen code for 2007 and tried it but it didn't work for me. I'm working with Access & Powerpoint 2010. I've seen VBA, Automation, etc. I do not want to build ppt presentations in access.
I have a access 2003 database, and i am wondering if i can't setup a search function in a form that will open a file in windows explorer?
What i would like to do is have a test box that i enter in a number for example: 1234 then have a button named "Search" hit that button and it opens a corresponding file in windows explorer named 1234, or just opens that folder directly..
I am trying to make use of the OpenForm command to open a form to a record where a textbox matches the value of a text box on another form.
On Form1, I have a textbox called txtRtnRef, and it contains a reference number in a similar format to SWR-9
On Form2, I have a textbox called txtReOrderRef (control source ReOrderRef) which also contains a reference number in the same format (SWR-9)
I am trying to have a button next to the text box on Form1 that has an OnClick Event that opens Form2 to the record containing the same text reference number.I have tried, to no avail, a number of variations of the OpenForm command, the most recent being
I am using access 2013 to make a PowerPoint presentation based on the data in a query. I know how to do that much using VBA but I am also trying to make a slide with a picture on it from a saved location.
Dim db As Database, rs As Recordset Dim ppObj As PowerPoint.Application Dim ppPres As PowerPoint.Presentation On Error GoTo err_cmdOLEPowerPoint
[code]....
At the moment I am not worrying about adding the data as I know how to do this and had it working before - its just adding the picture to the slide.
A charity has a client file (over 700 clients) that will have records that need editing. The user is presented with a form(1) holding a text box to enter the parameter (Client Surname) for a query. They can use starting letters and wildcards to narrow a search e.g. Jo*The click a command button that opens another form(2) based on a query that uses the parameters from the first form.
This Works just as planed if matches are found. If not, it displays a blank/new record. I want to either 1) stop the blank form being displayed 2) tell the user that their query was unsuccessful. I Do not want them to use this facility to CREATE a NEW Client record.
The parameter query is working fine and form(2) shows the matching records, it's reacting to a situation where no records are found, that is my problem.
I have a form that is opened as hidden when my startup form loads. Data gets entered into it from other forms so whenever I switch records the hidden form needs to be opened to the matching record.
To accomplish this, I have been using the DoCmd.OpenForm in the OnCurrent event with the WHERE clause matching the PK/FK. I have had no luck with the SearchFor method.
It seems silly to have to keep reopening a form to go to a specific record when the form is always open already. Plus, I am wondering if it is affecting the forms' load times.
Actually what I am looking to do is have an Access application check some Web site for the presence of a number. This number could be the Serial number of the application and if this number exists to maybe show a message in the aplication or even terminate the application.
A quick and dirty way is for User Serial number 254, to put on a specific page of a Web site say arbitrary file 254.jpg (invisible on the Web site). The application would check for the existence of this file and if it is there, it could take some action. Everything would have to be done in stealth mode.
The following code can tell me if a specific URL exists, in this case [URL]
Code:
Private Sub cmdArbitray_Click() Dim blnDum As Boolean blnDum = blnCheckURL("http://www.VisualDentist.com") ' If blnDum = True then it exists End Sub Public Function blnCheckURL(ByVal strURL As String) As Boolean Const FLAG_ICC_FORCE_CONNECTION As Long = &H1 blnCheckURL = (InternetCheckConnection(strURL, FLAG_ICC_FORCE_CONNECTION, 0&) <> 0&) End Function
I have a from that has information icons that opens a separate form to support users make the right choice on a form. With each information form users are able to choose "Yes" or "No" and then it returns them back to the form they started. I am having trouble setting the focus to the control the user original left the form from.
Form A Control 1 Control 2 Control 3
Form B Information for Control 1
Form C Information for Control 2
Form D Information for Control 3
For Forms B - C I would like the form to close, open Form A and then set focus to the control that the form was providing information for.For example, if you are on Form C and you make a decision, I want Form C to close, Form A to open and focus to be set to Control 2.
Code: Private Sub image5_Click() Dim sWHERE As String Criminal_Background.Value = "Yes"
i want that if any powerpoint application is open after closing my access app all of these powerpoint files will be closed. i found this code for excel file and i changed it for powerpoint application. but i have an error message in this pink line?
error 438: object doesn't support this property or method
Code:
Public Function test() Dim oApp As Object Dim workbook1 As Object
I need some simple code that will copy an Excel file or a table in Access to a specific location on an FTP server. I would think this would be a very simple task, but I have yet to find any sample code that is *simple*. I have seen lots of code that requires downloading this dll or that mda, but the examples don't work. There must be something built into MS Access 2010 that will allow a file to be uploaded to an FTP site.
All the variables are known:
The FTP location (it never changes) The FTP Username and Password (they never change) The destination folder on the FTP site (it never changes) The File type (it never changes) The File name (available from the form in Access from which this will be executed)
I can either produce an output file, then copy it to the FTP site, or I can export the table directly to the FTP site with the file name for that day.
This seems to be a very simple task with no simple solution. Currently I am using an FTP app to get the file to the FTP site, but I would like to automate this. The process that creates the output file is already automated, so I would just like to add this to the existing code as its own module.
just made all that above up and none of it is a real function/command in VBA, but is just the kind of thing I'm looking for.
I would think that since I can download and XML file from an FTP site that it should be child's play to upload a simple file to an FTP site, but I can't figure it out.
I want to open different .doc files by a button from access.
I want that the vba code checks where the current access database is located. In which folder the the current access database is.
In this file folder i have a folder called documents.
In this folder i have the .doc files.
Right now i have the following code.
Public Function getPath(ByVal iPath As String) Dim fso As Object Dim drive As String Set fso = CreateObject("Scripting.FileSystemObject") drive = fso.GetDriveName(CurrentDb.Name)
[Code] .....
The access database is in the folder Z:BUS MMM CGrimmMasterarbeitDatenbank
From access I'm calling a code in excel. My code in excel pops up a browser that allows the user to select what files they'd like to import. For various reasons I have to import data through excel, not directly to Access which is why the browser appears in excel instead of access. Essentially the user will select a word file which is imported into access through excel.
I'd like this browser to appear in access instead of excel though. If I move my browser from excel to access is there any way to have my code in excel reference the file selected in access? Or is there some way for this browser to appear without the user having to select the excel icon in the task bar? I essentially want the user to only see and interact with access, but because my browser is in excel this isn't possible right now.
I am using VBA in Access 2013 to make a PowerPoint presentation using data from the access database. know if it is possible to use Access VBA to create a button in the presentation that runs a procedure itself?
I want to delete an excel file from within access vba. Problem is that if the file is open, it obviously cannot be deleted. so I need to check to see if that specific excel workbook is open and if it is, I want to close it before I can delete it.
All of the answers here involve creating an excel object and opening it before closing it. If I do that all that happens is a second instance of the workbook opens then closes leaving the originally open workbook still open.
Sub xx() Dim XLapp As New Excel.Application Dim ObjXL As Excel.Workbook Set ObjXL = XLapp.Workbooks.Open("C:dropboxexcelimport.xlsx ") ObjXL.Application.Visible = True
[Code] .....
The above code demonstrates my problem, if the import.xlsx file is already open then the code just opens another instance of this workbook and then closes it again leaving the original workbook open and as such cannot be deleted.
I am currently creating a database in a hierarchical system that is to be used by multiple users to enter information specific to them. The tables are arranged like this:
Owners Modules Tasks Highlights
Theses are connected using primary ID's and Particular Entries in the next table so they form a hierarchy - when you expand owners it brings up a list of Modules attached to that owner, then expand each module and it brings up a list of tasks associated with that module, expand the task and it brings up a list of highlights associated with that task. This is all very straightforward of course but what I would like to do is create forms that basically match so that the users can navigate from their name, through their modules and tasks and then add highlights to each task.
For this I have been using continuous forms to list all the different entries and inserting a button in each entry that I would like to link to the next form and find the specific data, however when I try to do this the button always without fail will just return all the entries from the form rather than the specific ones requested. I set up the button using the wizard and select 'open form and find specific data' and then select two entries that are identical on each form. I have trawled the internet quite a bit to try and find why this is happening and have inserted various bits of code etc into the embedded macro in an attempt to make it work but to no avail.
I wonder if there is something I need to activate on the form that the button connects to aswel or if I need to connect these forms using the relationship that I used to connect the tables (I am still using a unique identifier). If I connect to a single form it will display the first entry on the list (and I can cycle through them all) on a continuous form it will display all entries starting with the first.I would like it to display all entries for the selected record on the form.
I have created an action log database that sends an email when a new action is entered. I would like to launch the database using a hyperlink in the email, but can't seem to get it to work. All users have a copy of the front end on their desktop, so whatever I add to the email needs to launch the front end for any user signed on to their own desktop.
This is what I have and it sends a hyperlink but I click it, I get an error saying it can't find the file. I don't know how to word the path name for any user?
With obMsg .subject = "New action request for " & team .To = people
Is there an easy way to open a powerpoint presentation from an Access form? Have seen the coding solution on msdn but was hoping there was a simpler way.
I have a lot of pdf file that we save every day and name them like this 8012012,8022012, that are 2 digits day, 2 digits month and four digits of years no slashes. The fields are txt fields that we receive from banks. After processing their data, the upper management wants me to open those pdf files form access . I have created form named frmOpenPdf, placed text box named txtName and placed also command button named cmdOpen . I research code over internet and here is below, but it doesn't work;
Dim avCodeFile As CAcroAVDoc Dim MYSRTING As String MYSTRING = txtName.Value Set Acroapp = CreateObject("AcroExch.App") Acroapp.Show Set avCodeFile = CreateObject("AcroExch.AVDoc") 'This is the code file avCodeFile.Open "C:Documents and SettingsDesktopETFPdfFilesMYSTRING.pdf",
I would like to have like this : an user types 08012012 and the code execute to open file names 0802012 in command button .
I have a form where I enter data about Cities (just an example). The user will be able to to pick a pdf file (for example history of the city) and add its location in the matching record. Then anyone reading the form will be able to open (from a simple command button) the proper file.
City File London london.pdf Athens athens.pdf
I need a browse button for user to select the proper file and a command button. And I think that the file should always be available in the same URL.
Maybe a strange question but what is the best way to display access forms in a PowerPoint presentation or in printed material. If i do a print screen and then tidy it up the resolution is not great. Any ideas
I have fairly large Access 2003 tables and forms on my job. I am curious if I can open word document off the form by using command button. Very often I need to put info off the form to word and sent it via e-mail to clients so I every time I have to keep a lot open word documents at the same time on my computer 10 or more that is slow pc down. I would like to have like this : on specific form I have command button and when i need to work with word document , click that button that will open specific word doc and when I am done I think I need a second command button to safe and close word document and so that i can attach it to e-mail and sent it out. So every time I need to work with word doc, I can open it off the form and close it also when I am done with it so no word doc would be open unnecessarily.
