Modules & VBA :: Open Another Database With A Button?
Jan 24, 2014
I am using the following event code to open a database from another. Everything works fine but, I would like add a mxgbox letting the user know the database does not exists and to contact me for assistance.
Private Sub cmdOpenTime_Click()
Dim accapp As Access.Application
Set accapp = New Access.Application
accapp.OpenCurrentDatabase ("c:PILOT_ApplicationTIME.Accdb")
accapp.Visible = True
End Sub
i want to ask is there any way to open another access database using when click button at form.. for example i have tracking.accb then at my switchboard form, i would like to have a button that can go to another access which is borrow.accb. can these possible for me to do it..?

I'm having a little trouble getting this accomplished. I can instruct access to print the report, however I just want to be able to view the report after I select a button. I will attach a picture so you can see what I have thus far. I do have an older version of this and it works flawlessly and as far as I can tell everything is a carbon copy of the working version.
I want to open different .doc files by a button from access.
I want that the vba code checks where the current access database is located. In which folder the the current access database is.
In this file folder i have a folder called documents.
In this folder i have the .doc files.
Right now i have the following code.
Public Function getPath(ByVal iPath As String) Dim fso As Object Dim drive As String Set fso = CreateObject("Scripting.FileSystemObject") drive = fso.GetDriveName(CurrentDb.Name)
[Code] .....
The access database is in the folder Z:BUS MMM CGrimmMasterarbeitDatenbank
I would like to create a button that when pressed opens up an outlook email. The email address will be populated by one email address every time. I don't want it to automatically send as the body will need to be filled out by the user. It would be useful if the date and time it was sent could be recorded in the form somewhere too (would this be in a text box?).
i have a database that runs updates from within itself.what i need is, this database to then open a another database run a update query, then close it.
What I need to do is press a button on a form. When the button is pressed, I want to create a new record in a table not already open and populate some fields with data from the form I am looking at. Then call up a new form with the record I just created on it.
Basically it is a work-order entry issue, the user scrolls through to find the correct piece of equipment when they do they click on "Create work-order" a work order is created and populated and the user can then fine tune the new work-order as required.
I am trying to create a button that opens up a webpage. I get how to create a hyperlink on a button. The problem is, I need to open a specific page depending on the information in a text box.
The text box displays the tracking number for the current record. That number is populated automatically via a control source. The problem is that I need to open different web pages depending on the tracking number displayed. For example, UPS has a specific start to their number (1ZX....). Other trucking companies have a specific format, also.
So how do I tell it to look at the tracking number and then open the corresponding web page?
I am trying to open a database with a password (I know the password) from another database however I cannot work out how to do it. I have been using this code to do this to open databases without passwords for a while.
I am using Access 2007.
Code: Private Sub Command36_Click() Const cstrClientFEPath = "G:Templates" Const cstrFEFile = "db.accdb" Dim intX As Integer 'Utility var
I'm wondering if there's any way to find out who has a database open.
I've saved the file as an ACCDE for the users and kept the ACCDB file as my working file. Whenever I make changes to the db I need to save a new ACCDE file on top of the existing one. In order to do that, I need to ensure no one has the db open. Half the time I need to track down 1 of 15 people to find out who it is that has it open so I can kick them out and save.
I don't have any login features, but could use the POD # that each cubicle has associated to their computer if Access allows that...
I have a button on my main db, that opens a second db using hte following code:
---------------------- 'Dealing with external objects, use inline error trapping On Error Resume Next Dim appAccess As Object
Dim db As Database Dim strAppPathName As String Dim strAppName As String Dim strTimesheetPathName As String
[Code] ....
This code works great to open the other db, and handles wheter the other db is already open or not, but I cant seem to pass the variable to the other db using the startup switch /cmd.
I suspect if I used the shell method it would pass the cmd , but I havnt found any way to test if the db is already open with the shell method.
How can I pass a variable to the other db when opening it using VBA?
I would like to be able to check if a db is open and if it is to prevent the user from proceeding.
I use the Access 2013 Runtime. I can check if a db is open by trying to open Exclusively, using something like
Code: [URL] ....
But if the db is already open Not exclusively and I try to open it exclusively it does not raise an error and it allows the user to open the db in Read Only mode.
I would like to be able to prevent this, because careless and/or inexperienced users may open several instances of the db.
Of course, if the db is already open exclusively it does not allow you to open it exclusively another time.
I have code that from DB1 opens DB2 and runs a Function in DB2.
The DB2 function produces a Boolean result that i am trying to get back to DB1 without success. Below is the script.
Sub Test22() Dim AC As Object Set AC = CreateObject("Access.Application") rc = "K:ARSHRAutomation_ProjectsMikeFEDB2.accd b" AC.OpenCurrentDatabase (rc) AC.Visible = True AC.Run "SendVariable" End Sub
Because i am using AC.Run "SendVariable" i cant find a way to get the value of SendVariable!!
I have an Access DB with a form that allows the user to select a new backend database. I can connect to the backend and then .refreshlinks but nothing on the form is updated. I have tried requiring the form but that doesn't do anything. I've tried loads of other things, refresh, recalc etc., but nothing updates the open form.
The only way I have managed to get it to work is to close the form and reopen it, then it shows the data from the newly linked backend database.
While it works, it doesn't look good but also there seems to be some problem with it because eventually it reports an error saying "cannot open any more databases" and when clicking OK comes back with "An error occurred while sending data to the OLE server (the application used to create the object" and a whole bunch of other messages.
I think it might have something to do with the fact that the form has a number of MS graphs open on it, but I'm not sure. Also, I can't track down a particular line of VBA code which causes this error.
how to update a form after changing the backend database.
I have to create a database with more than ten thousand records. There is a field on which image by clicking the image to be displayed with the default program based on the image on which you clicked.
Code:
Private Sub Campo1_Click() Dim L As Long L = ShellExecute(0, "Open", """" & "C:UsersNickDesktopDocumentiPicturesDioDiego.jpg" & """", vbNullString, vbNullString, 1) End Sub
When onClick event happens on the image is displayed the same image regardless of the record on which you clicked. How do I change the code to open the image of the field that was clicked?
I am trying to create a button on an access form that will prompt the user to enter a search month and then export to excel all records in that database that match that month.
So, if the user prompt "what month" is October, then THE 30 records in the field [receivedate] that are in october (10/XX/XXXX) are exported to excel.
I would like to be able to click a button on a form in my data base and login to a website using my username and password.
The manual login, requires two clicks after username and password, "Login" and "Click to continue"
I have tried many solutions found on the internet, none work for me. One forum reply was to send me a link to another site and it was for Excel. Is the code the same? Didn't work anyway.
From the website I want to login to, I have copied the code into a Word doc from the "inspect element" to work out the names of the fields I'm trying to put my username and password into. (see attached)
I would also like to be able to use Google Chrome as my web browser if possible?
In the access form I want to add a button with a special functionality.
After clicking "Select file" button special window should be open (or something else). It should give user a possibility of files locating (doc, pdf, rtf, txt ...).
After selecting the file and confirm the choice in the table "File_location" in database path to the file should be saved .
I currently have a button that opens a report. the report pulls from a query that has parameters set to "fromdate" and "todate". instead of using dates and parameters that pop up as blank text boxes, I would like to click the button, have a form pop up with a combo box to select all of the options available (currently 23 options) and then click a button to make a report that only displays the record (1-23) selected. I do not need any time constraints because as the databases get updated with more records, there would be more than 23 options to choose from.
I have made a form. By giving an ID up firstly this form of the concerning person appears. Now I want to make a link to a report on this form. The intention is then that only those data are shown in the report of the concerning person (therefore with the ID that is reflected in the form).
Now I can open the report by means of a button... but then to get the correct data I have now used a query with a parameter value (the ID) (the report has been based on these query). But the situation is now therefore that if you click on the button that you must introduce the parameter value firstly. Is there also a solution where this is no longer necessary??... therefore that you have to click only on the button and then the concerning data of the report are shown. Therefore by giving in or an other manner the ID with. ??
Hopefully it is understandable, (my english is not that good...)
Implementation is going fabu, but I had a request to add a button on the main form to open the HTML FAQ I wrote. I thought I would be able to quickly point the button to the file using the button creation wizard, but that doesn't seem to work so well. (not at all)
Did I miss something or is this something that needs to be coded with VBA (very little knowledge of VBA here... negligible even.)
Is it possible to have a cmdButton open a pre saved image from your hard drive. The images are saved with the same name as the Account Number. (ex: AcctNum -- TA123409 Image -- TA123409.bmp) I want the cmdButton to open the image filtered or based on the Account Number. If so, could someone show me a sample OnClick code. Thanks
