Modules & VBA :: Command Button On A Form - Import Data From Excel

Mar 27, 2014

I'm trying to design a command button on a Form so the user can import the contents of an Excel spreadsheet to an existing Table in Access with the click of a button. But, i'd like the imported data to overwrite the existing data in the Table and not append to it. I've considered using linked tables but apparently you can't set Primary Keys when you do it this way.

Modules & VBA :: 4 Unbound Controls Require Data - Validation Event Triggers Without Command Button

Aug 13, 2015

There are 4 unbound dropdown list box that will have a default value of empty string. All 4 must have values entered (data is required).Once all 4 are required - the bottom 5 text box will become enabled (optional data).Forcing the user to click on a Validation Button

Some users type then use the mouse to select the next.Other users type to select then tab.The trick is: After filling in the 4th listbox and validating all 4 have values, the event must trigger code to enable the 5 optional text boxes below.This provides a seamless data entry environment.

I have been doing this in other places, but the transisition after the last required field is complete gets ugly.If Trim(cmbBoxname1 & "") = vbNullString ' check all 4..If it is the 4th one, the event seems not to happen quick enough for the bottom 5 text boxes to be enabled so the user can continue with data entry.

Modules & VBA :: Runtime Error 3464 On Form Command Button

Jun 22, 2014

I am currently creating a form which includes a command button to update a field in a table to show Today's Date, at the time of running a query I am still yet to write.

I have the following code for my Command Button, which is returning the Runtime Error 3464 (Data type mismatch in Criteria Expression):

Private Sub cmdAddTodaysDate_Click()
CurrentDb.Execute (" UPDATE tblMyTable SET TodaysDate = " & Date & " WHERE tblMyTable.ProductCode = " & Me.txtProductCode)
End Sub

The query above seems to be having issues matching the text from the 'txtProductCode' textbox to the table field 'ProductCode'.

Command Button To Open Another Form - Matching Specific Data Fields

Aug 25, 2011

I have a subform in which I want to put in a Command Button to open another form.

I used the wizard as per normal, but when you come to matching specific data fields, there is nothing in my left hand column of the sub form. I have checked the record source property and it is bound to the correct table.

I have read that this is an issue with Access 2007? Is this the case or am I missing something obvious here?

Importing Data Using A Command Button

Mar 25, 2005

Good Morning to all:

I have created a form using Access 2000. Within this form are names address, Student ID'S, etc. In addition to this form, there are queries in there as well.

I wish to place a command button on this form so that when pressed, it imports data from another file(Excel). I assume the Excel file field names that I wish to import must match the table in Access 2000.

Is there a way to do this? I am completely lost.

Many, many thanks,

Dion

Modules & VBA :: Import Excel Document Via Command Button

Mar 4, 2014

I have managed to export the data that I want into a spreadsheet using a command button.

Once my colleagues have completed the spreadsheet, I need a command button on a form with a file search dialogue box which will allow them to transfer the spreadsheet back into the database - updating the relevant records rather that over writing them.

Is there a VB code/Macro I can use which will allow me to do this?

Import Data Into Table From Excel Using Command Button

May 18, 2006

I'm looking for someone to help me with a solution to my problem of importing data into a data table.
What I'd like to do is have a command button on a form. When this button is clicked the records in a table are cleared out. Then I'd like for a browse window to come up to locate an Excel file. The user would select this file and the data would be imported into the data table that was just cleared.
Can this be done without too much trouble?

Thanks, Paul

Modules & VBA :: Command Button To Delete Records In Sub And Main Forms

I am trying to create a command button that will delete the current records in both the subform and main form.

I know how to create a command button that will delete the current record of which ever form I'm in (either the sub or main form) but I wish to do so both at the same time with one event procedure. I currently have been experimenting with a button in the subform but I don't really care if it's in the subform or main form.

Modules & VBA :: Adding Secondary Function To Existing Command Button

Nov 12, 2013

I have a command button that basically saves the record that i just finished entering. here's the code:

Private Sub cmdAddAnother_Click()
On Error GoTo Err_cmdAddAnother_Click

DoCmd.DoMenuItem acFormBar, acRecordsMenu, 5, , acMenuVer70
Exit_cmdAddAnother_Click:

[Code] ....

What I'd like to do now is add a second function that will make all the controls on the form go to null after the record is saved. so the user can start from scratch and add another record.

I tried adding me.refresh right before "end sub" but that didnt work.

I tried adding "me.controlname.value = null" for every control on the form, and that didnt work either.

I also tried adding this code that i found on bytes.com:

On Error Resume Next

Dim ctl As Control
For Each ctl In Me.Controls
ctl.Value = Null
Next

That didn't work either.

Modules & VBA :: Cancel OnExit Event When Another Command Button Is Pressed

May 8, 2015

I have a form with a control for the user to enter some data and then two command buttons 'OK' and 'Cancel'

For the OnExit event in the control I have a procedure that check the user input and if incorrect, opens a message box with an error message asking the user to correct the data. It then cancels the event so the focus remains in the current control.

However if the user presses the 'Cancel' command button on the form to cancel & close the form, the OnExit event for the current control still fires and asks the user to correct the data.

In my code in the control, how can I recognise that the Cancel command button has been pressed, so I can cancel the OnExit event and close the form?

Forms :: Stock Inventory - Opening Form And Passing Data

Jan 9, 2014

I have a form that displays a stock inventory, one of the fields I use is called [ItemCode].

On the Stock_Inventory form I have 10 command buttons that open other forms to display additional product information.

These were previously sub_forms that sat in a tabbed control box within the Stock_Inventory Form but as it now takes a while for the form to load (lots of queries running each time you search for a product) users are getting slightly frustrated.

So, what I decided to do, was move each subform from the tabbed control into a new form and open that form when it is needed by the user.

OK, when I open Stock_Inventory and search for a product [ItemCode = "ABC123"] and then want to see the Sales_History, I have to open my new form, Stock_Inventory_Sales_History, within this form are two sub-forms, each subform has a field called [ItemCode].

However, when Stock_Inventory_Sales_History opens it asks me to input the parameter [ItemCode] twice, I presume this is because the Stock_Inventory_Sales_History does not have a record source and that the subforms need [ItemCode="ABC123"] to run each query and return the data.

I need to pass the [ItemCode] from the Stock_Inventory form to each of the 2 Subforms that are on the Stock_Inventory_Sales_History form automatically.

There are two reports that are printed on the same database. Previously, I had automated form buttons to print the reports, without having to select the printer each time. This was about 8 years ago, but I don't remember how I did this. Also, I don't know SQL. Nothing against code, but I did not know how to program, and just MS Access 2007 access itself.

Form With Command Button

Jul 21, 2006

Hi,

I created a form that lets the user choose specific criteria, through a combo box, to run a report that houses several subreports. Each combo box is referencing 4 queries needed to run the report.

=[Acctmgr_renewed_detail]![RenewalMonth] And [Acctmgr_begbal_2005]![RenewalMonth] And [Acctmgr_cancelled_sum]![RenewalMonth] And [Acctmgr_renewed_sum]![RenewalMonth]

The form also includes a command button to preview the report. However, when I click the command button, the prompts for parameter values for the report popup again, when it should just print the report. Below is the code attached to my command button:

Private Sub Command2_Click()
Me.Visible = False
DoCmd.OpenReport "Acctmgr_monthly_activity", acViewPreview
DoCmd.Close acForm, "valarie"
End Sub

Is there something I need to add to my code? If so, what? Any help would be much appreciated.

Thanks
