Modules & VBA :: Query Regarding Insert Future Date - Script Modification

Sep 12, 2014

I am dabbling in updating an existing database.Currently our staff enter data via a form and I have this set up using the below script to automatically complete the "Due date" field with a date 5 working days ahead of the current date, saving them from having to manually enter this date each time.

Code:
Public Function PlusWorkdays(dteStart As Date, intNumDays As Long) As Date
PlusWorkdays = dteStart
Do While intNumDays > 0

[code].....

This then updates the value on the relevant form object using the default value "PlusWorkdays(Date(),5)" to give a date 5 working days ahead. the problem I face is that due to our business process at 15:30 each day our due date needs to change to 6 working days from todays date rather than 5. I was wondering if there is a simple way I can modify the script to add an extra working day when the local time hits a specified point (15:30 in this case), unfortunately this is a bit outside my abilities currently!

Modules & VBA :: Date Field To AutoPopulate Other Date Fields To Future Date

Oct 24, 2013

I'm trying to get my "IncidentDate" field to autopopulate two other date fields to a few days from the "IncidentDate". The other two date fields are "ContainDueDate" and "RootDueDate". I'm trying to accomplish this on my "Test CAP Form"

I tried using the following in the BeforeUpdate of "ContainDueDate" and received a complier error: expected =

Code : DateAdd(d,2,[IncidentDate])

so I removed the parenthesis and nothing happened

Code : DateAdd d,2,[IncidentDate]

I even tried redoing it in the AfterUpdate of "IncidentDate" and nothing happened either

Code : DateAdd d,2,[ContainDueDate]

I'm not sure if I'm even using the right function to get what I want.

Date Update Upon Modification

Jan 10, 2006

Hi all;
I know this thread has probably already been done but I've tried searching and nothing I've found seems to be what I'm looking for. What I want to do is incorporate an automatic Date update to a table, every time an item is updated in that table. I've tried creating a new field "DateLastModified" and puttin =Now() in as the default value, but this does not input a date into the field. Any suggestions on how I can get this to work?

General :: Date Field - Highlight Future Date In Different Color

Mar 25, 2014

In a date field is it possible for a date that is in the future to be hi-lighted in a different colour.

E.g. todays date is 25/03/14

So anything with todays date or previous would stay in black

24/03/14
25/03/14

but anything from 26/03/14 forward would be in red

26/03/14

Then will change to black when the 26th comes.

to add for example if the [Date of Device] is April 2015, and the [DischDate] is also April then i'd expect a N answer

to add for example if the [Date of Device] is April 2015, and the [DischDate] is May then i'd expect a Y answer

Calculate Future Date

Mar 1, 2006

Hi, All...

Can someone tell me how to calculate a future date in a bound field on a form? The form includes "date created", "life expectancy" and "review date" fields, all bound to the same table. I want the "review date" to be calculated by adding the "life expectancy" (number field, in days) to the "date created" field. I found some posts that were similar but none using bound fields.

Thanx so much for you help with this...I've spent quite a lot of time trying to come-up with a solution...to no avail.

Thanx ;<)

Modules & VBA :: View Cannot Be Updated Because Modification Affects Multiple Base Tables

Aug 26, 2014

I am trying to trap the database error "View cannot be updated because modification affects multiple base tables" in the Form OnError event to display a user-friendly message instead of the above. The above can happen in the scenario of inserting/updating several fields of different tables at one time, likewise what I am facing now is the scenario of the user copying an entire record and pasting it.

I tried
Case 4405
MsgBox "Can not update the record. it is related to base tables"
Response = acDataErrContinue

But it doesn't work. How can I know the case number and solve all the scenarios of multiple insert/update attempts? Also, are there any better solution than this? I first tried to detach the SQL statements out of the views and make it one select statement so that I can normally multiple update/insert(as this problem happens with views only) but since CTE is not supported in Access , I failed to do so.

Forms :: Preventing Future Date Use

Nov 26, 2014

I have a form for the user to enter new units which arrive in our warehouse, one field in DOM (Date of manufacture) which cannot be a date in the future obviously but could be todays' date. there is table level input mask to make the date 00/00/0000.i have this code on the form:

Private Sub dom_BeforeUpdate(Cancel As Integer)
If Me.DOM > Date Then
MsgBox "Please enter a Valid DOM", vbInformation, "Check again !!"
Cancel = True
End If
End Sub

which doesn't accept any date whether it's today, last week, last year or in the future!

Modules & VBA :: SQL And VBA Insert Null For Unfound Date

Jun 17, 2013

I'm trying to search through a table with serial card IDs, Order Numbers, and Ship Dates. I'm search through the Serial Card ID column and making my code work so that if the serial card ID exists and its ship date is between 9/30/2001 and 10/1/2011, then retrieve the associated order number and put in array. All of this works perfectly except for one tiny part : it's not returning a null for either unfound serial Card ID or serial card Ids that exist but their ship dates do not qualify. I would like to return a null value for these fields into the array as well as keep the found values in the array. The whole point of all of this is so I could count the number of rows for all the found order numbers and return a total value with that number.

Future Date - Taking W/e & Holidays Into Account

Feb 22, 2007

Hey all,

I'm designing a query that must calculate a future date based on a recorded date. Unfortunately it's not as simple as just using adddate (unless I was using Excel!). Here's my requirements:

Future Date = [StartDate] + 45 business days

I am able to take weekends into account, but haven't been able to figure out how to bring holidays into the equation. I have an existing holidays table that I am using for another query within the database (calculates # of business days between 2 existing dates).

Hope this makes sense... I've been staring at it all day so I may not be thinking clearly anymore.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Crosstab Query Modification

Dec 28, 2007

Hi all,

In Northwind DB i made a crosstab query which summarize no of categories that every customer buy his products from.

It works well in case of I summarizing all orders without any criteria.
If i set a criteria such as Order Date is greater than 1/1/1998, the form displays the customers who made orders in this interval only.
Now, How can i make it displays all customers and summarize the categories of customers who didn't make orders in this interval by zeros rather than deleting them.

I then have another field called Fill By Date. This new field I want to be 2 weeks after the Order Date. Is there a way to auto fill this information so that when I enter a date into the Order Date, it will enter the date that is 2 weeks after into the Fill by Date?

Tough Modification Of Existing SQL Query

Mar 7, 2007

I’m trying to modify an existing SQL query that calculates actual working days between start date in tblECN and end date in tblECNDetail to do the same between start date in tblECNDetail and end date in tblECNDetail (same table).

Where I’ve gotten into a bind is with the joins of the two tables that are needed in the first query but not in the second as both fields come from the same query.

In the current working query I join about tblECN.ECNID and tblECNDetail.ECNID. In the new query I don’t think I need to create these joins at all as BOMEntryStart and BOMEntryEnd both come from the same table (tblECNDetail). I’ve bolded all references to the table no longer required for join but I don’t know which join statements I can be rid of. When trying to save I get an error in the FROM statement if I leave as is. If I get rid of the join statement I get an error

Queries :: Show Data Older Than Specified Number Of Years From Future Date

Querying a field for a number of days from today's date but not had a lot of luck finding how to query this from a date in the future.

Currently I have as criteria for the relevant field:

Code:
<[Period Start (dd/mm/yy - less 5 years from financial year end)]

which prompts for a parameter but using this I have to figure out the date 5 years from the future date first and then enter this.

Surely there must be code that allows me to simply enter the date, in the prompt and this then shows me data of 5 years or older equipment!?

Query By Future Paydays

I have a table of checking transactions. Some are past, some from today, and some are dated with future dates (such as recurring payments).
Is there a way to set up a query that will exclude transactions that occur after upcoming paydays (1st and 15th) dynamically? For instance, if I have a transaction scheduled for the 2nd of next month (after payday on the 1st) I'd like to be able to separate it from the transactions that are coming out of this payday.
Thanks for your help.
