Modules & VBA :: How To Show Query Result In Text Boxes

Jun 25, 2013

I have query that creates table with 2 records each with 2 columns (2x2) and they do not have indexed ID,and query is related to combo box in other form so results are not always same but it is always (2x2) and value types are always same,

So how to show those results in text box in form,lets say 4 text boxes ,every value in one text box, i assume that i need to use DLookup() but i was able only to show first record,did not know what criteria put to go to second record.

When i select that query and create report i get what i want but i cant copy those text boxes to form that i want.

Form With Subform Doesn't Show Totals Unless Keyed

Aug 2, 2007

I have an application that has two tables, linked on a common key. The main data entry form is for invoices, and has a sub-form for parts used. A similar report/sub-report is used for reporting. Everything is fine for records that are entered via the form. My problem is that when I import data from other sources ( consolidation process ) the calculations are not performed. So when those records are displayed no totals appear until I click on a control that drives the calculations. I don't want to store totals in the database but I need to have them reflected on the viewed form without operator intervention. Otherwise I'm open to incorrect decisions when the operator doesn't notice that an invoice doesn't reflect the cost of parts used.I'm looking for a "one-time" process that I can invoke after loading new data that would "touch" each record (ideally each "new" record but there's no impact to re-calculating existing ones) and drive the calculations so that the viewed form is correct.It doesn't need to be "easy" or automated since the end users won't do it, only myself as part of the data consolidation.Any ideas?Thanks

Subform In A Form Doesn Show Controls When Link Child And Master Fields Derfined

Jun 13, 2005

Hello,

I have a form and a subform in MS Access 2003. I have made some changes to database structure, so I decided to change the subform also. When I changed the Link child and link master fields, the controls of the subdatasheet dissapear- they show only in design view. If I clear the contents of Link child and link master fields they appear again, but the records are not binded.
Is there a setting on the parent form that also has to be changed, to make the new binding?

Thanks,
Aleksander

Customer ID Doesn't Show Up Correctly In A Query Or Table

Oct 11, 2004

When I open one of my tables or queries and look at the customer Id, the displayed info is a single digit. On my customers table my primary key is the customer Id with auto number with the format like this: "ID"000. This is great however, when you look up the customer id in other tables it only displayes the single digit. I want it to show up like ID001 or ID002. In the customers tables it looks just like that, but if you click in that cell/field it takes away the ID and just shows the 001 or 002. I changed the format in my other tables under customer id to "ID000" but that didn't seem to make a difference. I would like to be able to do a search lets say by customer ID in one of my products table and when I type ID005 or ID012 it takes me to those records. But right now I would have to enter 5 or 12. Datatype in my other tables on field customer ID is set to text. Do I have to do a validation rule? How can I get it to show up the way I want it?

Queries :: New Record Added To Table But Doesn't Show Up In Query

Aug 4, 2014

I have a database used to track my personal assignments, created about six years ago using Access 2003 on Windows XP. Recently upgraded to Access 2010 on Windows 7. At some point thereafter, I started having the following issue:

When a new record is created, that record gets added to the table, but doesn't show-up in any query, form, or report until after another new record has been added. The most recently added record cannot be located to view or update, except in the table, until after another new record has been added to the table. Queries, forms, & reports now always lag behind by one record.

None of the queries, forms, or reports tested contain filters. I have several multi-user databases that I also support and none of those users have reported having this problem. This is only happening on my personal database.

I've re-created this database once or twice in the past to resolve other issues, but would like to avoid that route this time around, if possible.

Once all of the selections are complete, I need the result of that query to show in a text box. - There will always be only one result.

How To Run An Access Query And Show The Result In Excel?

May 13, 2005

I am writing an Excel VBA code to connect to an Access db and execute an access query. After executing the query, I would like to display the result in the excel spreadsheet.

I was successfully able to make the connection to the access db using the following code:

Set db = OpenDatabase("file name", False, True, "MS Access;PWD=abcd")

However, I do not know what code to use to execute a query named "qrytest" on the Access db and show the result in this Excel file.

Can anyone teach me how to do this please?

P.S. I searched this forum for about 1/2 hour before posting this. Please excuse me if this was addressed anywhere before! Would appreciate a link, if it was.

Show Query Result In Form Fields

Aug 23, 2006

i'm a begginer at access, so please excuse me if this question is very basic.
i have a multiple table select query which shows me which user has which piece of a equipment at that given time.
I also have a form that logs any problems the users have with the equipment, what i want that form to do is show the results of the query based on inputting the users name. ie put the serial number and model number into the relevent fileds on the form.
I can get the form to run the query but that just shows it in the query window, i need it to show on the correct feilds on the form.

Hope that makes sense and that somebody can help me.

Cheers

Sorting Of Query In Subform Doesn't Happen

Nov 6, 2006

Hi,

I have a query for a subform which is displayed in datasheet mode (see attachment). I've created a form based on a query and used it as a subform.
The "casenumbers" per clients are displayed from 1 and upwards, I would like to have them sorted Descending. So in the query I sorted them that way. When I run the query they are displayed in descending order. When I open the subform based on that query however it is not. I can sort descending anyway by clicking the column on which I want to sort and do it that way, but that becomes bothersome and it doesn't need to be that way.

Record source is ok:
SELECT KlantNAW.ClientNumber, CaseInfoTable.Casenumber, CaseInfoTable.DateInitialCall, CaseInfoTable.DateCaseCreation, CaseInfoTable.CaseAccepted, CaseInfoTable.[1stAppointmentDate], CaseInfoTable.DateCaseClosed, CaseInfoTable.About1 FROM KlantNAW INNER JOIN CaseInfoTable ON KlantNAW.ClientNumber=CaseInfoTable.ClientNumber;

Order by:
Casenumber DESC

I thought, well, lets create a new form based on the query to see if that changes anything, maybe I've changed something I shouldn't have.

But nope, same result.

How can make the form sort descending in datasheet mode?

General :: Formula Result Doesn't Display

Dec 10, 2012

I have a database that I have created for work. On the form I have several dlookups running. A couple of them show up as expected. But most of them are showing up blank. That is until you click on the box, then the result appears. Changing the Locked and Enabled settings does not resolve this.I have the database locked up for normal users. When I access it by holding shift while opening, when I access this form, the dlookups all show the desired results. No clicking on the boxes required.

I've tried refreshing, but that doesn't work. If I write code that loops through all of the textbox controls, setting focus on them and moving throuhg the form, then the results will show up. Basically having VBA click on the boxes for me. Although this works, there is a slight lag and screen flicker as it sets focus to all of these textboxes.

General :: Show Query Result In Form Textbox Immediately After Updating A Record

Nov 24, 2014

I am building a Inventory Management Application for Tyre Shop. I have SaleMainTbl and SaleDetailTbl both used for preparing daily sale summary. I have Mainform based on SaleMainTbl with TxnDate and Total Amount (Sale) and the TxnDate is in one to many relation with SaleDetailTbl. FormSaleDetail is multiple row(continuous) form that makes billwise summary of each day having -TxnDate--BillNo--ItemSold--Company--Qunatity--Rate--Amount fields. I have inserted this form in FormSaleMainTbl.

So FormSaleMainTbl is Main form and FormSaleDetail is subform. TxnDate in FormSaleDetailTbl is automatically taken from SaleMainForm. I have further added text boxes in Main Form to show company wise sale for each day for which there is a query build one for each company that takes the currently loaded date from FormSaleDetail and calculates the Sale (Sum) of each brand (Company) of Tyres. All these objects are working very fine. However I have to close the MainForm and reopen it for result of query to appear in the appropriate text box in Main form.

Is there way to do this as soon as record is entered or at least at the end of completing the entry of each days sale transactions without closing the form. So the gist of the problem is realtime display of query result in text box on a form or updating the form screen immediately on updating any record or at the most after completing the updating of form but without having to close the form.

New Data Doesn't Show

Aug 19, 2005

Hi.

I have a subform (based on table "Source") that allows the user to create a new record in another table "Events" (it copies some entries to facilitate entering new data). The data should then be dispayed in another subform. However, the newly created redord is does not show in the subform although I use Me.Refresh. When I close the form and then open it again it works - but there has to be an easier way.

How can I reload the data from the table. I have looked but am unable to find the right method.

The code:

'Create New Record in Table Events

Call AddEvent(EventDate, Country)
'This function opens the table and adds a record

'Open Subform
DoCmd.GoToControl "subfrm_events"
DoCmd.GoToRecord , , acLast
Me.Refresh

Help would be much appreciated!

Queries :: Run Saved Query Object In Access Through VBA And Display Result In Subform

Jun 25, 2014

I have saved query object named qrySearchBill. I wan to call this query through vba and display the result in a subform named subQrySearchBills in datasheet view. Here's how I want it to work:

When the main form loads, I want all unfiltered records to be displayed in the subform initially. The user may then decide to filter based on date range, so he enters startdate and enddate parameter values in their respective textboxes in the main form. Then click search button to run the saved query based on the date range parameter taken from the textboxes.

I have this code so far:

SQL of the saved query object:

Code:
PARAMETERS [StartDate] DateTime, [EndDate] DateTime;
SELECT tblInvoice.BillNo, tblCrdCustomer.CstName, tblCrdCustomer.CstAddress, tblCrdCustomer.Island, tblInvoice.Date, Sum(tblInvoice.[TotalPrice]) AS Amount
FROM tblCrdCustomer INNER JOIN tblInvoice ON tblCrdCustomer.IDNo = tblInvoice.NameID
WHERE tblInvoice.Date Between [StartDate] And [EndDate]
GROUP BY tblInvoice.BillNo, tblCrdCustomer.CstName, tblCrdCustomer.CstAddress, tblCrdCustomer.Island, tblInvoice.Date;

vba code to call the query and its parameter:

Private Sub btnSearchBill_Click()
Dim qdf As DAO.QueryDef
Dim rst As DAO.Recordset

Set qdf = CurrentDb.QueryDefs("qrySearchBills")

[Code] ...

This code works fine except that when the main form loads, a prompt window appears to ask for the value of dateStart and dateEnd. I don't want it to prompt because it's suppose to get these values from the main form's textboxes (txtStartDate and txtEndDate respectively), plus it should initially display all the unfiltered records.

HTML Text Doesn't Show Right

Nov 29, 2004

In my website I've created a admin login with some ASP pages to edit and update stories.
I use an acces database and installed HTMLarea for WYSIWYG editing.

When I update text, all the HTML tags show als plain text in my website.
For example: I make a headline bold in my wysiwig editor and I update my text, it just shows: <B> here's a new story </B>
If I look in my database I have a field 'text' wich is a memofield and I can see the html tags have been stored into my database. <B>here's a new story</B>

It looks like it doesnt recognize the html tags as HTML, but just as plain text...

Can I use HTML-tags in an acces database and how do I get them to show up right in my website?

AT the moment I'm having to put grey rectangles in various places to cover this up, which is obviously not ideal.

Modules & VBA :: Result From A Query To Specify String To Use

Jun 7, 2015

I have a query that returns the string to use but I am not sure how I can actually use the returned value to do what I want.

e.g.
my table:
Partner ID Backup Field
5023949 UPC
501354 GTIN

my query will return 1 [backup field] value from the table above, and I then want to use that value to get another value that was previously declared in my code.

eg
GTIN = "ABC123"
UPC = "123ABC"

if my query returns the value "GTIN" then need to use the value of GTIN (ABC123) in my next part of the code.

msgbox GTIN would result in a message box ABC123

But I am not sure how to get the result value. I can say msgbox [backup field] but that returns "GTIN" not "ABC123"

Modules & VBA :: Using ADO To Edit Result Of A Query

Sep 30, 2013

For some reason i've had to make an update on some old VBA projects of mine. In this update i switch all references of DAO to ADO. I know there are some limits to what i can accomplish with ADO (where i would need to use DAO). Anyways in some of these old projects i use an SQL statement to provide me with a limited number of records which i then modify by iterating through the recordset.

I can't get this to work with ADO. It's as if it always expects me to provide a table in the argument.

In short my question is. Is it possible to change the values returned from an SQL statement using ADO

Code:
'This is the DAO version which is exactly what i'm looking to using ADO
strSqlCommandText = "SELECT tblMain.TaskID, tblMain.Heading FROM tblMain WHERE (((tblMain.TaskID)=" & ProcessForm.txtIDValue.Text & "))"
Set objRecordset = pubObjDatabase.OpenRecordset(strSqlCommandText, dbOpenDynaset)
objRecordset.Edit
objRcsToDbTable.Fields("Heading") = ProcessForm.txtBoxHeading.Text
objRecordset.Update

This is what i've done and it doesn't work.

Code:
strSqlCommandText = "SELECT tblMain.TaskID, tblMain.Heading FROM tblMain WHERE (((tblMain.TaskID)=" & ProcessForm.txtIDValue.Text & "))"
Set objRecordset = New ADODB.Recordset
objRecordset.Open strSqlCommandText, pubObjDatabase, adOpenDynamic, adLockOptimistic
objRecordset.Edit
objRcsToDbTable.Fields("Heading") = ProcessForm.txtBoxHeading.Text
objRecordset.Update

I can think of some work around like, creating a temp table and insert/update all the records from there or creating an UPDATE SQL statement.
