Modules & VBA :: Retrieve Outlook Contents Through It (Wizard Blocked)
Sep 8, 2014
Basically i'm trying to link Access to Outlook to retrieve emails , When using the wizard to link outlook folder to Access it fails, i've been informed that this is due to the version of Access they have installed which is a ThinApplication.
i was wondering would it be possible to access / link my outlook emails to access via VBA Coding?
All i need is the raw contents of the email and subject.
It's been some time since I wrote the following, which takes a string made up of "Lastname Firstname Telephone" and writes it at a specific time in Outlook. It uses Late binding so it works across all Oulook versions.
Code: Public Function funOutputAppointmentToOutlook(dtmDate As Date, strSubject As String) Dim olApp As Object Dim mNameSpace As Object Const olFolderCalendar = 9 Const olAppointmentItem = 1
[Code] ....
I would like to first check the specific Outlook time slot whether the string exists already and only if it does not exist to write it.
I need to retrieve the count of emails in a shared exchange mailbox in Outlook 2010. I found the following software that retrieves the count I need, but only in default folders or ones that are 1 layer deep. The folder I need is two layers deep Mailbox -> Inbox -> Completed. Is there anyway to drill down just one more level?
Const olFolderInbox = 6 Set objOutlook = CreateObject("Outlook.Application") Set objNamespace = objOutlook.GetNamespace("MAPI") Set objInbox = objNamespace.GetDefaultFolder(olFolderInbox)
I have a database split into a front-end and a back-end. The back-end is stored on a shared drive. I have learnt that any user who has only read access to the shared drive and opens the front-end will be opening the database in Exclusive Mode as he'll be unable to create the locking file and would hence be inhibiting all other users from editing the database.
This is a game spoiler. Is it possible to disable this user from opening the database at all. Or can we do a check in VBA if the user has opened it in exclusive mode and then just push him out giving an error message.;
Me.TxtNotAllowed.Visible = True dtTimer1 = Now dtTimer2 = Now + TimeValue("00:00:10") Me.TxtNotAllowed.Value = "You do not have permission to use this database !" Do Until dtTimer1 >= dtTimer2 dtTimer1 = Now() Loop Me.TxtNotAllowed.Value = "" DoCmd.Quit
The above code will run definitely for the 10 seconds however the textbox and contents do not display HOWEVER if stepped through with breakpoints line by line and the form checked each time the textbox DOES display and its contents.
I would like to ask if it is possible to use the contents of a table as a comparator? For example, I have this column in my table that has the schedules of the professor, if the professor for example failed to login within fifteen minutes after his/her supposed start of class a message will be displayed on the screen notifying that the professor has not yet logged in.
I've got a requirement to retrieve inbound email from a dedicated mailbox (probably through imap), and populate a data table with the results, including downloading any attachments and either storing them in the file system and referencing them, or attaching them to the database in an ole field, then mark the message as read.
Current situation is that I have this form with a chart.
Row Source :
Code: SELECT PolyWrongRegInsCount.[INSTITUTION], PolyWrongRegInsCount.[NO_OF_GROUP] FROM PolyWrongRegInsCount;
PolyWrongRegInsCount; <- This table is one of the queries that I created.However, the data is manually added. I want to get the data from excel spreadsheet. And load into my queries
I've got some code that loops through a record and copies the non-null fields to another record. This is the partial code:
For Each fld In tdf.Fields If Not IsNull(Forms!contact_lookup![Contact_sub subform1].Form(fld.NAME)) Then strSql = "UPDATE tbl1 SET tbl1.[" & fld.NAME & "] = '" & Forms!contact_lookup![Contact_sub subform1].Form(fld.NAME) & "' " & _ "WHERE tbl1.[FC_APN] = '" & Me.txtApn & "';" DoCmd.RunSQL strSql End If Next fld
This works fine until it encounters a field whose contents has a reserved character, like a single quote (" ' ") in it, for example, "What's the what." At that point the SQL thinks there's a " ' " missing in the statement, and I get an error 3075 (syntax error: missing operator).
I have an Access 2010-form which inserts a record in a MS SQL 2008-database by using an ADODB-connection. I need to retrieve the primary key of the newly added record.
With code at the bottom I create a SQL-string which is stored in variable strSQL. If I execute the SQL-string directly in a MS SQL 2008 Query Window, the record is inserted and the MS SQL 2008-result pane shows a column "ID" with the primary key of the newly added record.
If I execute same SQL-string in MS Access 2010 the record is inserted. However, the code fails on Debug.Print rs![ID] with error "Item cannot be found in the collection corresponding to the requested name or ordinal". Same error appears if I use Debug.Print rs.Fields(0). I've enable the reference "Microsoft ActiveX Data Objects 2.8 Library". It looks as the recordset rs is closed as soon the command "Set rs = cn.Execute(strSQL)" finished.
Why I can't retrieve the Primary Key with VBA-code below?
Code: Private Sub cmdSave_Click() dim cn As ADODB.Connection dim rs As ADODB.Recordset set cn=New ADODB.Connection
I would like to open an Excel workbook from MS Access and clear cell contents, or just delete some records in a specific worksheet.
If you open the test workbook, cell contents in RAW need to be deleted by calling from Access.
I have produced some code but it's partially working.
Code: Sub TestFileOpened() ' Test to see if the file is open. If IsFileOpen("test.xls") Then ' Display a message stating the file in use. MsgBox "File already in use!"
[Code] ....
If you put this in a standard module in access, the function works, but the part that doesn't work is where it says "activesheet". It somehow tries to recognize it as a variable, but it's not going to be a variable.
I have a subform in Continuous Records format (records displayed are determined by controls on the parent). I would like to create a button that prepares an email and copies the contents of that subform in to the body of an email message.
The email. I have a method to create a new email, set To, CC, Subject and even Message Text.
Code: strTo = txtName strCC = txtManager strSubject = "Something" strMessage = "Hi, please find below list of details from X Y and Z" & vbnewline & vbnewline
That all works. Thats fine
The Records: I have found ways to have them added as an attachment, either the the SendObject and OutputTo method but I would like the list of records to be converted to a text string so I can include it within my strMessage variable, not include it as an attachment.
Code: strMessage = strMessage & "Subform Records to go here"...
A client wants to e-mail newsletters using a non-default Outlook account. The code below does everything the client needs except setting the SendUsingAccount. In debug I can see that the correct account is assigned, yet all of my testing results in e-mails where the From line is the default account. The test setup uses my own isolated SMTP server, so when I look at the e-mails sent the sender is the default account. The default account's Sent folder shows the sent mail, which is not what we want.
Code: Sub prepEmail() Dim frm As Form, startDate As Date, endDate As Date Dim rs As DAO.Recordset, strSQL As String, intNewsLetter As Integer Dim rsEmail As DAO.Recordset, rsNewsletters As DAO.Recordset Dim OlApp As Object, ol As Object Dim olMail As Object, olAcct, olAcctTemp
1. open outlook mail; 2. copy the email details into the database; 3. save the attachment into a E: drive location; 4. move the email to another folder.
1,2 and 4 were working fine until I tries to save the attachment and got stuck on the SaveAs line.
Dim Ola As Outlook.Application Dim Nsp As Outlook.NameSpace Dim pf, Inbox, ib, newdest As Outlook.MAPIFolder Dim msg As Outlook.MailItem Dim Atts As Outlook.Attachments
I'm trying to make it so when a subform is updated, it will email the contents of that subform to me. I've got it all working, except for the content of the email part.
Code: Sub SendRepReassignment() Dim oOutlook As Outlook.Application Dim oEmailItem As MailItem Dim objOutlookAttach As Outlook.Attachment On Error Resume Next Err.Clear
Right I have the code in place but it will only work first time out look is opened, unless I have a msgbox on the first line and, I cant work out how to make it work with out it, obviously the msgbox isn't code doing any thing but it must be setting focus or some thing, here is the code
Dim strID As String Dim olNS As Outlook.NameSpace Dim olMail As Outlook.MailItem Dim objAtt As Outlook.Attachment Dim objDestFolder As Object
I am making a new database. And I want to confirm that I can do all the following in Access 2007 and how is best to do it.
1) A form where I can define:a unique Email Number starting at 1. a directory eg "C:UsersPaulDesktop101 - Brick House" an email address. a Recipient Name a Category for the email. Choosing either "Working" or "Complete". This would be part of the email subject.
2) a button which onclick lists all the files in the defined directory to a box on the form.
3) a button which onclick exports a report containing the list of files to PDF. Then attaches a zip of these files and the PDF report to an email in Outlook for revision before sending.
4)In Outlook the subject would be:
"The Directory Name" - "The Category" - "The Email Number" "101 - Brick House - Working - Email 1"
5)In Outlook the body would simply be the subject of the email followed by the filenames of the 2 attached files, ie the PDF report and the zip.
I have an Outlook Function that i am trying to run from Access.What i am looking for is to Open Outlook through Access and run the Outlook function from Access.
