Modules & VBA :: Selecting Multiple Values From List In A Form
Dec 29, 2013
I am trying to use a list-control on a form to let the user select multiple values. I have understood that this requires some VBA-code to step through the selections in the list, since the "multivalue-selection" is set to "Extended".
When I try to execute the code I have (found and have tried to adjust), then I get the error message "Object required". The "ListCount"-paramater always only results in a ZERO-value, when i step through the code:
Function cmdOpenQuery_Click()
On Error GoTo Err_cmdOpenQuery_Click
Dim MyDB As DAO.Database
Dim qdef As DAO.QueryDef
Dim i As Integer
Dim strSQL As String
I have a form that is a datasheet. it contains multiple records. One of the fields in that datasheet is a combo box. I would like to make it so when I select a value from the combo box it changes all the values of the other records in that column/field to what was chosen from that combo box. is that possible?
Right. What I want to do is use a value obtained in the form (obtained from a list-box selection) to select a record in a table, then return one of the fields to a text-box on the form. All the values coming from the list-box are unique, and the value returned is a simple integer.
I was thinking/hoping of using a list box on my form to store multiple values, I haven't been able to find a way of storing any value so far so not sure how easy it will be?
How can this be achieved or is it just easier to use several check boxes (approx 8)
I hope the title actually conveys what I'd like to do.
I want to assign records on a subform to a group header on a form. For example, I have groups A, B, C, and D and I want the records on a subform to be assigned to groups A, B, and D. (The number of groups and their names will change so I can't simply use an "A," "B," "C" option box.) My idea is to have a Multi-Select List Box on the main form and choose all the groups to which the records on the subform need to belong. So I'd select the groups, enter the records on the subform, then create a another record on the master form and assign records to another group.
Is it possible to make this happen without a lot of programming?
I have a Table with a short text field, field size: 20. The row source has been set up ie "Item 1", "Item 2", "Item 3", etc. Allow multiple values IS allowed.Once I drop a control on a form (list box) to represent the aforementioned field, I realize I can put a checkmark in many items. Why? I add up the total length of the items text at 40-50 characters, yet the field size is only 20. To check my sanity, I open the Table in Datasheet view and lo, I can see all the Items spelled out, in clear violation of field size constraints
I am relearning Access and having a little difficulty. I am creating a Access database that links tables from an I series system which I have done trouble free. In the database I have pulled up for example a patient demographic file (hospital). I have form frmSearch that prompts the user to enter the medical record number OR they can search by name. I have a query that takes that information then loads a 2nd form to display the query results in a list box. I would like to be able to click on one of the results from the 2nd form to then load another form that will display all of the patient information that was selected. How do you set this up so that with the results shown, I can click on one of them and it will load that patient into another form pulling the rest of his or her information from the table file?
I have a data base with names, email IDs, phone numbers of 5 types(example quality, security, IT,finance etc) of person from ten different project teams. I created a basic form for the end user to enter values and created fields for each of the person's name, email ID etc based on the personal type( liek quality, IT, finance etc) on each team. The background table contains records of almost 200 people now.
All of these people will be trained for one task and some will be trained for multiple tasks. I know how to make the combo box allow multiple values/selections but, i cannot list out all 200 personal names in the combobox's rowsource/value list. Is it possible to combine all different name fields and list out all personal(of one team), so that the end user can just select multiple names for that team who have been trained and so on. i need to set the rowsource of the combobox to the values of all personal from one team so the team leader can just go select who has been trained and who has not.
I was able to create a very user-friendly pop-up search form : {URL] .....
I would like to take it a step further... Now, I would like to grab the selected record ID from within one of the list box columns and use it in my SQL statement (to copy the record into a new one). Is there any way to reference a highlighted record value within a list box recordset directly and/or any workarounds?
I know one would be to grab the ID and insert it into the text box, just don't know what the coding references would be for this.
I have a combo box which gets its values from sql server using a query which is called "get_query_reason", which works fine. Now I want to update combo box values based on a user selection, st string. Have written the code, but does not work:
Dim qDef As QueryDef Dim Query As String Dim st As String Dim rs As Recordset st = "SOV" Set qDef = CurrentDb.QueryDefs("get_query_reason")
Im trying to delete values from a table based on the selected values of a listbox. The listbox values have a hidden column which related to the ID on the table to which I am trying to delete from (if that makes sense).
If I use the following code:
Code: Set ctl = Me.Results_listbox For Each varItem In ctl.ItemSelected CurrentDb.Execute "Delete * FROM Table1 WHERE Table1.ID = " & ctl.ItemData(varItem) Next varItem
I get an error stating Object doesn't support this property or method.
I want to select a subset of table called TRP. It should extract me all records
which got the property Valid to date < enddate.
enddate is a date selected by the user in a form .
Somehow it doesn't recognize the enddate in the following :
Code: Public Sub test() DoCmd.SetWarnings False DoCmd.RunSQL "SELECT TRP.* INTO [TEST] " & _ " FROM TRP " & _ " Where TRP.[Valid to] < enddate" DoCmd.SetWarnings True End Sub
I have a onclick tied to a label (for decoration purposes) that when clicked it launches VBA that essentially updates a form. All that part works except it will not recognize any changed value of the field I was last in?
Just to try to explain best as I can what happens.
- Form gets opened - I change field (quantity field) - I click the Label - It reverts to pre-existing value.
if I click off of the text field first then do the onclick - it recognizes just fine.
I have a form called frmNotInvoicedSearch and on that form i have an list box called listCompanyClient populated with our client's names.I then have a command button called cmdOK that brings up a search results form called frmNotInvoicedSearchResults.
Currently i can select one of the records and when i click ok it brings up the search results for that selected record. Is there a way that i can hold in the ctrl and select multiple options and the search results report as such?
I created a search form that searches for Customer Number, Part Number, and Revision Number. The results are displayed in a List Box.
I want the user to be able to make a selection on the List Box and click an "Open Selected" button that launches that record in another form. How is this possible?
I have a list box populated with record ID's all of which need a date field updated. I have been succesful at using the list box to update single records, but am not sure how to transfer this idea to work with multiple records simultaneously.
The code i am using is:
Private Sub Command13_Click() Dim i As Integer Dim strSQL As String Dim sMessage As String Set db = CurrentDb() Dim sTitle As String For i = List10.ListCount - 1 To 0 Step -1
I have two table. Table 1 (assets) list all my assets etc. Table 2 lists all servicing for each asset.
I have a form which generates a list box of items that require servicing (once servicing has been completed on these items) I would like to update all records, in both tables. Table 2 with all the information about the service. and Table 1 with (only) the next service date.
I have set the list box to allow multiple selection and have used the following code to allow new records to be update in table 2 (which works). but I cant seem to get the code to edit one cell in table 1.
private Sub Command59_Click() Dim strSQL As String Dim db As DAO.Database
I have a form in which the user has the privilege to download some data from the table.the user will paste some of the numbers to the textbox from the excel in order to download the specific data.i need to write a query to parse the textbox using the in condition
I've got a table of associate directors "t_ADnames" and want to build separate tables for each AD name that pulls a pass through query from our data warehouse. I'm thinking it's got to be done with a macro somehow? So it would run pass_query where AD name = "John" and insert into t_john, then it would check the next name in t_ADnames and run the same query for say "Mark" and insert all his data into t_mark and so on until the list (of about 12 people) has been completed.
Inside you can find one form with listbox (with multi selecting ability).
I use this code :
Dim strSQL As String Dim i As Variant With Me.se1 For Each i In .ItemsSelected SQL = "DELETE '*' FROM [t1] WHERE [id] = " & .ItemData(i) & " ;" CurrentDb.Execute (SQL) Next End With Me.se1.Requery
Result is this one : 1) If I delete only one item in list, it is ok. I can do it again and again and it is working fine.
BUT
2) If I delete more items in list at once, it is ok - but if I will try to do it again then there is an error because .ItemData(i) value is Null.
I have a database that has route lists for drivers, I have a combo box that lets the user select a route and a timescale and with that data it populates the list box,,,
The list box displays Route Period Month
Now then, I need the database to be able to double click on the list box and for it to preview a reoprt, but i can work out how to set querry criteria from that command
Private Sub LstBox_DblClick(Cancel As Integer) On Error GoTo Err_LstBox_DblClick
I have a database that has route lists for drivers, I have a combo box that lets the user select a route and a timescale and with that data it populates the list box,,,
The list box displays -- Route -- Period -- Month eg -- 1 -- 6 montly -- jan, jul
Now then, I need the database to be able to double click on the list box and for it to preview a reoprt, but i can work out how to set querry criteria from that command
Private Sub LstBox_DblClick(Cancel As Integer) On Error GoTo Err_LstBox_DblClick
I have got an unbound multiple list box called List44 (Row Source: query based on table tblAircraftCategory, Multi Select - Extended) that needs to be passing parameters to my main query called AircraftSearch2. The multiple choice list box have the following fields:
1. Piston 2. Turbo Prop 3. Entry Level Jet 4. Light Jet 5. Super Light Jet 6. Midsize Jet 7. Super Midsize Jet 8. Heavy Jet 9. Ultra Long Range 10. Helicopter 11. Air Ambulance 12. Cargo 13. Vip Airliner 14. Airliner
The user will use the form for selecting search criteria (the form is called SearchForm2 and has 5 combo boxes, 3 text boxes and one multiple choice list box).
I'm very new to access and need to modify (or coding a separate module) my query to include my multiple choice list box in my query?
I am looking to check 3 sub forms for values and if they contain any then delete them. After a bit of googling I discovered that you should use recordset.recordcount - to which I tried but I get method or data not found - is this a valid method?
My code to which Im using is:
If Me.NoneChargeable_Admin_subform.Recordset.RecordCount >= 1 And Me.NoneChargeable_Manufact_subform.Recordset.RecordCount >= 1 And Me.NoneChargeable_Research_subform.Recordset.RecordCount >= 1 Then DoCmd.RunSQL "DELETE NoneChargeable_Admin.*, NoneChargeable_Manufact.*, NoneChargeable_Research.* " & vbCrLf & _ "FROM NoneChargeable_Admin, NoneChargeable_Manufact, NoneChargeable_Research;" End If DoCmd.Close acForm, "NoneChargeableHrs_frm", acSaveNo End Sub
