Modules & VBA :: Subtotal Data Access To Excel - Range Class Failed
Jun 6, 2014
I'm trying to subtotal data in an excel file but I am getting a subtotal method of Range class failed in the red text below. I have been trying to get this to work with no success.
Code:
Public Function SUMMARY()
Dim xlApp As Object
Set xlApp = CreateObject("Excel.Application")
With xlApp
Dim wb As Object
I am trying to connect to excel from Access database. Once I make the connection I want to delete data from a range on a specific sheet. There are 4 columns on the spreadsheet but i wouldn't know how many rows. So for example, A150... but I may not know what the last row is. How would I be able to delete data from a range of columns to the last row?
With below codes I am able to export recordset data to specified excel range if recordset count is 25. But I am unable to export the data greater than 25 to 2 specified range.
I have a set of records that contain the following attributes;R_Name, Cost, StartDate, EndDateI need to subtotal the cost for each R_Name by year. The start and end date attributes can span several years and I need the correct cost for partial years.
Hi, I am trying to work out away of subtotalling a field in access, similar to that of the subtotal function in excel, Basically my table is structured so i have a store number column and a transaction number column so as an example my data looks like this: Store noTransaction Num 1234522664499 1234522664499 1234533775599 1234533775599 1234544886600 12345611227755 12345622449955 12345677556699 The transaction number is made up of several other columns and basically represents an item sold by an assistant at a certain time - if the asst sold 2 items i will get the same transaction number appear twice, if they only sold 1 item it will only appear once. I want to be able to count the transactions by store so i end up with a result like this (based on the above data) Store no Count of Trans No 12345 3 123456 3
I am trying to write code in an excel worksheet to try to export excel data to a table in access.
The range in which the data is situated in excel varies. So the range address varies with the data. After a lot of searching I wrote the following code which works for a range which is fixed. The code is the following:
Dim acc As New Access.Application Range(Range("b22"), Range("b22").End(xlDown)).Select ActiveWorkbook.Names.Add Name:="ghazla", RefersTo:=Selection acc.OpenCurrentDatabase "D:PayRollFactoryJasminePayroll.accdb" acc.DoCmd.TransferSpreadsheet _
[Code] .....
As one can see from the first two lines of code I am trying to first delineate the range and then to name it. The intent is to name the range "ghazla" and so to cater for the fact that the extent of data varies.
The code works with the fixed range ="Sheet2$B140". However what I need to do is to adjust the code so that I can insert "ghazla" as the range name so that this can vary.
I am having problems with Dlookup from a table which is linked to Excel.The heading on the fields from Excel have been imported as F1, F2, F3 etc... the code I am using is as follows .....
Dim xlApp As New Excel.Application Dim xlwrkBk As Excel.Workbook Dim xlSheet As Excel.Worksheet Dim strXLS As String strXLS = "c:AccessMyfile.xls" Set xlwrkBk = xlApp.Workbooks.Open(strXLS)
[code]...
The program is stopping at " Set xlSheet = xlwrkBk.Worksheets("singles")"
and I am receiving the following error box:
Runtime error 9
Subscript out of range.
I don't understand this error because I am using the same program code with another Excel file in another module and it works perfectly.
I've adapted some code I found which works and allows me to import data from my access table "Device Text" to a specific range in an existing excel worksheet by copying a field "TextEdit" in the recordset. the code is placed in a module behind a command button on an excel worksheet. I have used import to excel because this seems to be less complicated for my needs than exporting from access.
Everything works fine if a single range is set , however I would like to set the range(rng) criteria in the code below to start at a certain cell depending on the value in another field in my access table called "LoopID" this is a number field which is not unique and can be 1,2,3 or 4. I know it wont be evaluated but I've entered the gist in red in my code.
I don't need to import it but I suspect I have to bring LoopID into the recordset somehow to use it,
Code: 'DIM STATEMENTS Dim strMyPath As String, strDBName As String, strDB As String, strSQL As String Dim i As Long, n As Long, lFieldCount As Long Dim rng As Range 'instantiate an ADO object using Dim with the New keyword:
using VBA in Access and Excel. I have an Excel form that I am using to collect data as the front end and an Access database to house the data as the back end. In my Access database I want to create a module that will open the excel files and retrieve data from Active X combo boxes, option buttons and checkboxes that are on the Excel form. I have been searching for the VBA code to get data from these objects but have not been able to find any examples. How to reference these objects and get the values from the excel form
Function SyncSuppliers() On Error GoTo errhandle Filename = DLookup("SupplierPath", "Setup", "SetupActive = True") If Filename = "" Then Exit Function End If Set xlapp = CreateObject("Excel.Application")
[code]....
The 5th row is where the problem is abbot and co will import n stop missing out the brackets (I need all the data). same for the last row A-BELCO LTD will import (HADAR LIGHTING) does not.
Everyday I have to generate a report in excel format and I need it to be added to ms access database. I was hoping to do this on a click of a button. Basically, since i have a new data everyday it should be added to the table.
I've vba in Report onformat the vba code does some data copying to External Excel file (premade by vba).Now on first run, i got success.But on opening the excel file, it showed blank space + Error"File already opened"
No White Spreadsheet is shown with data to see into file, i created new excel file in windows, and inserted the vba created/exported file as an Obj.Now Obj is showing correct and full data with spreadsheet as normal view.
I have a database that had some code that enabled the user to click a button and it would take information from one Access query or table and paste it into specific locations in Excel. This is important because the last worksheet has specific formatting in place.
If it didn't, I'd just use the transfer spreadsheet option and not even bother opening Excel at all with code.
I've got it working well except for the last part. The last query being copied has eight records and only one is being sent to Excel. Same code as the other queries where all of their data is going to the right spot in Excel with the right number of records.
I am writing the following code that will first of all display column headers dynamically using "Headers" field data from Access table and then find out the sum(volume) using column header and first column values. The following code works fine to display headers dynamically in Excelsheet from Access table but doesn't display sum(volume) in all the corresponding cells. As I can't attach the Access table so I have stored data from Access table to sheet named "Access Data" as attached. The sheet2 named "Report" should populate total volume .
Code: Public Function Inputdata() Dim cn As ADODB.Connection Dim rs As ADODB.Recordset Dim r As Long Dim i As Integer
I have a question about the best way to go about linking an excel workbook to an ms access table? I have researched hyperlinks and attachments and ole objects and I am not sure what is the best option. I believe hyperlinks will be best, because the attachments will bloat the database, but I am not sure how to go about doing that in vba? My process is such:
1)Users enter project information 2)Users enter the sample information for each project 3)The project and sample information is combined by a query 4)The user clicks a button to print forms, which runs the query and opens an excel workbook template. 5)The data is exported to a specific sheet in the workbook 6)Using vba in excel, the data is used to populate cells in different sheets depending on critera.
After all of this is accomplished, I need the user to SAVE AS the excel workbook and it needs to be "attached" to the ms access 'project' table. I am not sure what is the best way to link this back to the database. I would like to automate it with vba if possible.
When I import a column from Excel into a new table in Access using the Docmd.transferspreadsheet function, Access automatically assigns a field name of "F1"; and if I try to import a range of columns (Eg A1:B10), then Access saves them into a table with 2 columns with field names "F1" and "F2". The table is created as part of the Docmd function, and so I don't have control over the field names.
Is this going to always be the case? Can I depend on Access to always use this naming convention? Because I am about to start writing more code that will depend on these field names.
I have an access table and I want the code that will check two columns in the table "EnvelopeType" and "EnvelopeSize" and create headers in Excelsheet automatically. In the attached workbook, like in sheet1 the headers are already appeared, I want this to be done dynamically using vba code so that if new values get inserted in EnvelopeType and EnvelopeSize then we won't have to change the code to display more headers.
Please see attached workbook named Sample and Access table. E.g.
EnvelopeType EnvelopeSize TNT 2nd Class C5 PP1 2nd Class C5 PPI 1st Class A4 Recorded A4 TNT 2nd Class C5 PP1 2nd Class C5 Recorded A4 PPI 1st Class A4 Recorded C5
With the code it should display following headers in excel sheet:
TNT 2nd Class C5 PP1 2nd Class C5 PPI 1st Class A4 Recorded A4 Recorded C5
I have a form where when the user clicks on the browse button then excel workbook filepath gets stored in the textbox as below:
Code: Private Sub CommandButton1_Click() ChooseFile End Sub Sub ChooseFile() Dim fd As FileDialog Set fd = Application.FileDialog(msoFileDialogFilePicker)
[Code] .....
Please see attached the excel workbook. Everytime the user will select Excel workbook using Browse button. Now in that file , the first sheetname will always be "Summary". I want to perform the following steps:
1. So now I want VBA code to copy the data from columns "Withdrawn","Obsolete","Updated","LitRef" from Summary sheet to the Access table named tblSummary.
2. When the data gets copied in Access table then write So VBA code that will check if the data in field LitRef in table "tblSummary" is present in field "Reference" of Access table "tblliterature" . if its present then check in the tblSummary , which corresponding fields out of "Withdrawn","Obsolete" and "Updated" stores "Y" . 3. If "Withdrawn" field value is "Y" then change the status of corresponding record of tblliteraure to "Withdrawn" 4. If "Obsolete" field value is "Y" then change the status of corresponding record of tblliteraure to "Obsolete" 5. If "Updated" field value is "Y" then change the status of corresponding record of tblliteraure to "Updated" .
See attached the Workbook. I need to check the policy Numbers in Column A of all the sheets in the attached workbook if its present in Access Table. If yes then write the corresponding ScanDate and BatchNo from Access table to columns I and J of all the sheets. I need to write VBA code to perform it.
In the attached workook, only Sheet1 contains the data but in actual there will be data in 5 sheets in the workbook.
how i can export the data from Access to excel using Access VBA for the specified sheet using data linkage with access database. Like we used to do it manually in excel as external data from access.Like we have some codes for linking excel file to database mentioned below;
Can we have something like this to link database table in excel file automatically.So that the excel size won't be that big and also it saves processing time.
I am trying to simply find the sum of a range of data...I have tried putting the range into a the formula, and also creating aliases for the cells but it either doesn't work or I keep getting a name error in excel and I just can't seem to get the right code:
The range I am trying to sum is: Range(Range("B2"), Range("B2").End(xlDown)).Select
And I can find the cell that I want the sum to go into by: Range("B2").End(xlDown).Offset(1, 0).Select
As I said I have tried a few things but just get this right. Should I be using Value, Formula or FormulaR1C1?
I am facing a problem with ODBC call failed error latly.The problem doesnt occur on my development PC but only on other PC's.I'm a beginer in Access, vba and I cant find a solution to make it work on every machines.
Code:
Dim qSQL As String DATA = "#" & DatePart("m", DATA) & "/" & DatePart("d", DATA) & "/" & DatePart("yyyy", DATA) & "#" qSQL = "SELECT Sum([IL]*[TO])" & _ "FROM PUBLIC_S INNER JOIN PUBLIC_SD ON PUBLIC_S.U = PUBLIC_SD.U " & _ "WHERE (((PUBLIC_SD.DAT)=" & DAT & ") AND ((PUBLIC_SD.ANA)='" & ANA & "') AND ((PUBLIC_SD.IA)='" & ia & "') AND ((PUBLIC_SD.AN_C)='PIMSS')); Set Db = CurrentDb() Set rs1 = Db.OpenRecordset(qSQL)
