Modules & VBA :: To Check If Excel Files Are Updated Today Then Run A Macro
Jun 26, 2015
I have a database which I've creating but now want to make others available to update - in the past this has not gone well! The database uses data from two excel sheets and the problem has been people do not always check if these have been updated today before running and therefore the database gets loaded with old data.I have found code that will check and display a message showing datelastmodified for a file but what i'm trying to find is code which will check both files' datelast modified, if they are modified today then run the update macro, if one or both are not modified today, then to display a message saying that the excel is not updated.
I have contract notes files in .xls format towards sale of equity shares from the brokerages. I have to do some editing in these files like deleting some rows, adjusting width of columns and inserting date of contract.
a) Contract-A.xls shows original file. b) Contract-B.xls shows modified file c) VBA macro code used for deleting rows and modifying column width is shown in modify_contractnotes.xlsm file. d) Presently I open the file and copy and paste the contents on the macro-enabled workbook sheet . After macro operation I transfer back the contents by copy and paste to a master file(Contract-C.xlsx) and clear the contents in the macro enabled workbook to make it ready for another operation. e) It is time consuming process for around 60 files per month. f)After this operation I run RDBMerge add-in to consolidate and normalize all these files in a directory. RDBMerge smoothened out merged cells also.
Is it possible to have a macro-enabled workbook open all the time and the contract files be opened one after other and macro contained in macro enabled workbook by modifying its code suitably operate on these contract files.
Files are attached in modify_contractnotes zipped folder.
Some vba code which is able to get the last updated or last modified value of an excel file stored in a folder in a shared drive and update a field on a form in ms access.
I have a process that reads a list of files sequentially and then processes them .... As each file is processed, its name (strfile) gets written to a Table (Vault.[Processed_file])
I want to verify if the file exists in the table prior to processing it - if it exists, I won't process it again ...
I have 200 excel files in folder C:UsersLburchDocumentsHistoric DataTedan Data in Excel Worksheets - CopyAAA - Copy. The files only have one worksheet and the column format are the same. Worsheet name is different for every file though.Headings in first row.write a macro to import into 1 Access table so I don't have to do it manually.
I need to add two additional columns for each imported spreadsheet, which are not in the original files.
First column, named 'Customer Name', needs to retrieve information from cell A6 in Excel file, which is not part of range "name" that is imported to Access. If necessary, I could somehow include it in this range but then I still would have a problem of how to repeat a value of A6 in each row of table in Access.
Second column, named "File Name", I would like to include an Excel file name from which data was imported. Again, I would like to repeat value for each row in the table, i.e. if I have 6 rows with data from file X, I would like to repeat X.xlsx in each row in column "File Name".
Code: Dim strFile As String DoCmd.SetWarnings False DoCmd.RunSQL "DELETE * FROM Data;" ' Set file directory for files to be imported strPath = "C: est"
I have a requirement to create a piece of vba that will open all xlsx files in a folder one at a time then import the data in a range (sheet1!A1:G14) into a table named Weekly Input.
I am using Access to save an Excel file in a particular directory. The code was created about 10 years ago and hence saves the file with .xls extension and I would like to save with a .xlsm extension. If I just change the .xls to .xlsm, in the code below, the file is saved but the Compatibility Checker comes up (I would like to stop this) and when the file is reopened I get an error message stating there is a file extension problem and the file won't open.
I have files that have extension of TSV which are text files but viewable in exel. I figured out a way for the user to click on a button in Access which does the following
1. Run Macro in Excel: The macro prompts the user to select the TSV file. After selection, macro opens the employee.tsv file in the excel (with excel being invisible) and saves it as employee.xls
Code: Sub SaveTSVtoXLS() Dim myPath As String Dim myString As Variant Application.DisplayAlerts = False With Application.FileDialog(msoFileDialogOpen)
[Code] .....
2. Imports the Excel file (employee.xls) into two tables: tblEmployee and tblDepartment using the following codes.
some code I've come up to in order to import multiple excel files each of them with a different number of worksheets into an access table. The procedure is called from an Access database. The problem I have with the code is that when it encounters a workbook with only one worksheets (e.g. Sheet 1) it gives the error that "Sheet 2$" is not a valid name. When geting to a workbook with 2 sheets it says that "Sheet 3$" is not a valid name and so on and so forth. Is there a way to "check" the number of sheets in the workbooks and when it has only one sheet to transfer it and go to the next file?
Below is the code:
Code: Sub ImportExcelFiles() Dim strFile As String 'Filename's Dim strFileList() As String ' File Array Dim intFile As Integer 'Number of files Dim filename As String Dim path As String DoCmd.SetWarnings False path = "D:Tranzactii"
I've got a members table where my members pay an annual fee. The fee is paid 12 months on from when they originally registered. So, for example, 12 months from today, i would expect to pay my next annual fee.
Now, with different members registering at different times of the year, it isn't so straightforward. I would like my calculated field to indicate to me if a payment is required.Furthermore, I would like to include a '' date range '' so that the calculated field entitled ''Payment Required?'' shows yes for a fortnight. Here is my attempt at the expression which partially works:
PaymentRequired?: IIf((Format(Date(),"dd/mm")>= [RenewalDate] And Format(Date(),"dd/mm")<=[RenewalDateAdd14])Or ([Subscription Paid?]=0),"Yes","No")
i used the Format Date method. But i've got a case where someone is due to pay at the end of November...and today being teh 3rd of December.they should have a good few days yet to pay the fee (before teh aforementioned 14 days is up)
I have created a user form that contains check boxes for various fields, and on this form, when the box is checked, I get a prompt that the field cannot be updated. I have several other forms that use these same yes/no fields, and I am not having the same problem on these forms. I checked the property sheet row source for the form and I don't see anything wrong with the select statement (that I know of).
In sheet 1, In column A all the Batch numbers are present. So I want to check if each of these is present in Access table named "tblmain". If its present then display its corresponding Policy number in Column B of attached workbook.
See attached the Workbook. I need to check the policy Numbers in Column A of all the sheets in the attached workbook if its present in Access Table. If yes then write the corresponding ScanDate and BatchNo from Access table to columns I and J of all the sheets. I need to write VBA code to perform it.
In the attached workook, only Sheet1 contains the data but in actual there will be data in 5 sheets in the workbook.
I am trying to write a more complex macro that will start another macro at a preset time, however I am getting stopped at the first hurdle - getting a macro to run another macro.
Here is the code i am using at the moment, all I want to do currently is click the first button, then get the second macro to execute. But no luck, getting error 2157 "cannot find the procedure"
I have to write a code for my database,i have folder with files "pending Review" and a table with column "tblExcelLocation". when i run my database all the files from pending review folder goes to "tblExcelLocation" on a click of button. But,if the files already exists it should not insert those files and insert the rest. For this i tried to write a code but i think i m unable to do that .
Code: Loop through files in folder folderspec = "O:QA FilesQC ReportingPending Review" Set fs = CreateObject("Scripting.FileSystemObject") Set f = fs.GetFolder(folderspec) Set fc = f.files
How can I prevent all remaining Macro actions from executing after getting an error in a vba module (such as an ODBC timeout) in a previous macro step?
I know I can add conditions to each macro step, but don't know how to look for "any error".
I've been using Allen Browns method [URL] to copy form and sub form data, and it works perfectly after some adaptation.
It changes dates to today from whatever the date 'was'.. perfect.. however, as I'm still learning SQL, is there a way, to make the copied subform's date into today as well...this is my adapted code from the SQL part..
Code: 'Duplicate the related records: append query. If Forms!FRMREGISTERMain!frmJustSubRecordsDEPOSITS.Form.RecordsetClone.RecordCount > 0 Then strSql = "INSERT INTO [tblSplits] ( TopLineID, TransDate, Memo, Category, SubCategory, Credit, Debit) " & _
[Code].....
As I'm still learning, am I right in thinking that I'll use SELECT and/or WHERE somewhere in there?
i'm trying to do something that i thought would be pretty simple. what happens is i have 2 files that get used, one by access and one by excel. they are both the same, except if one gets modified then the other doesnt obviously. (theres reasons for having the 2 files).
anyway. in access i want it to pick the newer of the two files (i assume this is using a fso system object?), if the one it normally doesnt use is newer, it should copy the new one over the old one and continue using the one it normally uses.
i cant simply use the other file as another user always has that file open.
any sample code on how to check if things are modifyed at a later date? and copy/pasting using those fso objects?
I'm using this control to allow users to select a date as input to a subform. The control is working just fine, but I have a problem, I need to reset the value to today on certain events (for instance a reset button to reset the values back to today). I have tried:
Me!calThru.Today and Me.calThru.Value = Date and calThru.Value = Date
How to use VBA..... I have set up a simple database to enter data into then upload to a client web portal.
I have a form to enter the data and the table this data goes into has a check box at the end which I want to have ticked/checked/True after I have exported.
I have created a query that shows me all data that is unchecked (not yet exported to an xls)
I have created a simple export macro that sends the query result to an .xls
I want the macro to finish by checking the "export" checkbox once I have done this....
I am using Access 2010 attached is a screen dump of what I have so far....
man am i stuck.......here goes. i am using a mdb that i upload a weekly excel file to build my weekly report.
the weekly excel file is called Subledger Current.xls
before i upload the excel file i run a macro that is stored in an a different file called Converter.xls on my c drive (C:Converter.xls). the macro name is "Converter_Macro". also, the workbook is hidden, therefore, when i open this ms excel file i have to go to window and unhide to view the workbook. after that, i have verified that the macro is part of the list under Tool Macro Macros.
With that said, can anyone identify my error in my code why the macro is not running. that is, the code does not error out but the macro is not running.
thanks terry
Code:Private Sub cmdImport_Click()Dim appExcel As Excel.ApplicationSet appExcel = New Excel.ApplicationExcel.Application.Workbooks.Open "C:Subledger Current.xls"Excel.Application.Visible = False'this is where i call another sub to open the file containing the macro and attempt to run itCall Sub xlAddin()'i have addition code here to finish out the prodecure which is function properly when i step through manually.End SubSub xlAddin() Dim objExcel As Excel.Application Set objExcel = CreateObject("Excel.Application") objExcel.Workbooks.Open "C:Converter.xls" ' Runs the macro objExcel.Workbooks("Converter.xls").RunAutoMacros (xlAutoOpen) objExcel.Application.Run (Converter_Macro) objExcel.Quit Set objExcel = NothingEnd Sub
I was hoping that someone could tell me if it is possible to run an Excel macro from an Access database. I am importing 3 Excel worksheets into Access and this macro needs to be run on all 3 evertime that this file is imported by the user (twice a week). If this can be done could someone please tell me how ??
