Modules & VBA :: Toggle Fields To Get Visible Based On Button Clicked

Oct 31, 2014

I'm quite new to Acces (2010) . Currently, I'm working on a form in which certain fields are set to invisible. I'd like to toggle fields to visible based on the button clicked.

Example:
Field 1: O No O Yes --> When No is clicked Field 2 (containing a date) becomes visible
--> When Yes is clicked Field 3 and 4 (both yes/no fields) become visible

Modules & VBA :: Recognize Which Button Was Clicked

Dec 1, 2014

I'm designing a form which will display a lot of employee information in a tabular layout. Users need the option to update a lot of these controls, but I want them to do that on a separate form. I'm wondering if VBA can determine the position of a clicked button within the tabular layout.

So if I have a layout like this:

| label | textbox | button | label | textbox | button |
| label | textbox | button | label | textbox | button |
| label | textbox | button | label | textbox | button |

Can I have some code which determines that, for example, the second button across on the 3rd row is clicked and read the corresponding label?

I was planning to have each button just call a function passing an argument, but since all these buttons will be labelled "update" it could get a bit confusing if I need to re-arrange the controls. So I wondered if what I describe above is possible, and which VBA functions I would need to look into if so?

Modules & VBA :: RowSource Switch Using Toggle Button

Dec 4, 2014

I have a form that contains a combo box, I used the access wizard to make this combo box select a record from a table of customers and display that record on the form.

The user then has the option to print that record.

This works fine.

I now want to be able use the same combo box but with a different table so I can select Records from a list of suppliers.

Is there a way I could use a toggle button to change the rowsource of the combo box and then use that same combo box to select records from my supplier table.

Forms :: Visible Radio Button Based On Field

Jul 14, 2015

I can do this if there is one record: ie

Private Sub Form_Open(Cancel As Integer)
If Me.field1 ="DontShow" Then
Me.cmd_splt.Visible = True
Else
Me.cmd_splt.Visible = False
End If
End Sub

This creates a button that masks my radio button i.e. hides it. However this only works on single forms.

I need it to be different for each record in a continuous form.

I am putting the code in the "OnOpen" property. Maybe that's my problem?

I've also tried conditional formatting but it wont over-ride a transparent text box.

Report Fields Visible Based On Checkbox

Sep 20, 2011

I have an Access 07 report, and when viewing the report I'd like to have some checkboxes visible based on their value. In other words, I need the checkbox to be visible if it's checked and not visible if it's not. I have the following in the OnLoad event of the report;

Me.Checkbox.Visible = Me.Checkbox.Value

This works fine in print preview but makes no difference in normal view, the checkboxes are visible regardless of value. I'd like to keep normal view if possible.

Modules & VBA :: Export Visible Fields Only To Excel

May 15, 2014

I have a query tool that allows users to create their own custom queries. Basically, it's a form that allows the user to check boxes for the fields they want to see. The code behind it simply hides the fields in the query for which the user has not checked the box. That works very well.

My problem is I would like to have a command button that will export the query to excel. The OutputTo and TransferSpreadsheet commands will just export the whole query into excel regardless of whether or not the field is checked. I'm looking for a way to only export the columns the user has checked. Is this possible, and if not is there a workaround that would do something similar?

Aug 18, 2006

Hi all,
I have a form with two subform on it and two toggle buttons.
Clicking each toggle button will open one of subform, and clicking it again will close that subform. But the problem is that I need to click the toogle button two time to open the sub form.
So, what is the problem??

This is the code under On Click event:
Private Sub Toggle0_Click()
If Me.TendComm_Label.Visible = False Then
Me.TendComm_Label.Visible = True
Me.TendComm.Visible = True
Else
Me.TendComm_Label.Visible = False
Me.TendComm.Visible = False
End If
End Sub

Private Sub Toggle1_Click()
If Me.AuthorizedSignature_Label.Visible = False Then
Me.AuthorizedSignature_Label.Visible = True
Me.AuthorizedSignature.Visible = True
Else
Me.AuthorizedSignature_Label.Visible = False
Me.AuthorizedSignature.Visible = False
End If
End Sub

Toggle Button Help

Jun 13, 2007

Hi, I'm very new to programming and i have very little knowledge about it. My problem is probably more simple than I may think, but for some reason I haven't been able to find a solution for it.

In MS Office, I'm making a form with a few toggle buttons which are linked to Yes/No fields on a seperate table. What I would like to do with the buttons is in their default state, which is "No", I want for the word "No" to appear on the top of the button. When the button is pressed, I need for the button to display the word "Yes". I know that it's possible to set the caption on the button to "No". Is there a way to have the caption change to display "Yes" with the press of the same button it's on? If so how? Also to have the fields reset to default with a new page on the form.
Please explain it to me as if I'm a 5 year old trying to learn programming.

Thanks in advance.

Forms :: Getting Subform To Open To A New Record When Button Is Clicked

Mar 3, 2015

I have a subform [ctrlLogDetail] on a parent form [incidentdetails] that is opened by the user when they click on a button on a navigation form. These forms are used for a variety of purposes. The problem I'm having is that the user needs to be able to select an incident number and go to the appropriate form (I accomplish this by using this code: DoCmd.OpenForm "IncidentDetails", acNormal, , "Activity_ID = " & Me.cboINum in the on click event of the button.) This works appropriately. The subform is also appropriately linked to the parent form.

I need an additional line of code to have the subform go to a new record when the form opens to an existing incident number. Since I use this form/subform when doing different tasks, having the Docmd.RunCommand acCmdRecordsGoToNew in the Form on open event isn't optimal.

I only want the LogDetail subform to open to a new record when the user wants to add an entry, but not when they need to edit a specific entry. What is the appropriate syntax to use either in the openargs event of the openform command or elsewhere in the procedure so that the gotonew function on the subform only occurs when this button is clicked? I'm having difficulty getting access to understand that I want the subform to open to a new record but not the parent form.

Modules & VBA :: Make Controls Visible Or Not Visible?

Mar 24, 2015

I have a Main Form with a Sub-Form, the sub-form is base off a query. on the sub-form i have 8 controls, one of them is "Status' and "Process" and "Review" My Main Form have a Refresh command that refreshes the data in the sub-form.

What i am trying to do is make the "Process" Control only visible is "Status" is a certain status and "Review" visible if "Status" is something else. what i have done works correctly On Open. I run into and issue on the refresh command. I get Run-time error '2165' "You can't hide a control that has the focus"

Code:
If Forms!Main_Form.[Name subform]!Status = "Ready" Then
Forms!Main_Form.[Name subform]!Process.Visible = True
Forms!Main_Form.[Name subform]!Review.Visible = False
ElseIf Forms!Main_Form.[Name subform]!Status = "Reviewing" Then
Forms!Main_Form.[Name subform]!Review.Visible = True
Forms!Main_Form.[Name subform]!Process.Visible = False
End If

I have done similar with a main form and making sub-form visible or not based on a control on a main form and that has worked perfectly. I am not sure how the control is getting focus and cause the error.

I am making a specialty form where it must toggle on or off when the user clicks on a boxed area. Since toggle backgrounds cannot be set to transparent, I need to do it some other way. The problem is that I don't know what code to use to programmatically change the state each time the box is clicked.

Toggle Button, Focus, Switching Back And Forth

Feb 6, 2006

Here's a little design problem, all of my VB script works fine, it's just a design problem:

Toggle Button (onClick) {
if pressed in, unlock protected field, pass focus to protected field
else (if not pressed in), lock protected field
}

Protected Field (lostFocus){
When Focus is lost, protect field then reset toggle button
}
See, there's no way that I know of for Access to tell what field has focus at any given moment. It lies inert until an event fires off then it responds. You can't wake Access up and tell it to go do something. So, Protected Field has to lock itself when it loses focus.

Here's the problem. If a user unlocks the field but then decides not to make a change and clicks the toggle again to lock the field, first Access fires the script to protect the field (locking it), then it resets the toggle button, then it registers the toggle button click which unlocks the field. See the problem? If the user changes their mind about changing the field and then tries to lock the field, it ends up unlocked. I need something that will work whether the user is good about it or whether the user is in a rush and forgets about it.
